“Trump Administration Floats Subsidizing Parents To Raise Children At Home”
No.
Oh good, another welfare program to be exploited by third worlders.
Yup. If it goes anywhere, it will be a fraudfest.
I keep coming back to this: Absolutely nobody in power or even in the media etc., pushes or cares about bloated spending, the deficit, debt, etc. And it will destroy the currency, followed shortly by the economy and society.
And Trump is one of the worst on spending and debt. I like some of what he does, but in the big picture his spending and the utter botch he made of COVID are massive strikes against him.
Well, except for Thomas Massie and Rand Paul of, course. And we all know how they are treated as pariahs by MAGA.
Trump is at the end of the day, a populist, and that means lots of free stuff for his base.
I comfort myself by thinking of how much worse things would have been during a second Biden/Harris administration.
Why not just stop devaluing the currency, dial spending down to pre-Covid levels, repeal Obamacare, and lower taxes?
In other words, make kids affordable.
Where’s the profit for Politicians in that?
Tax me less.
We home school.
We should not be paying 52% of our property tax to the school district, same with the take on state sales and income tax.
The federal department of ed needs eliminated.
It can be really concisely resolved with a series of rulings saying “What part of ‘shall not be infringed’ do you not understand?”
Thanks for doing the lynx on a holiday weekend, Banjos! Hope you have a delightful day with your family!
Unholiday. There’s nothing holy about the commie celebration, even if we did move it 4 months to pretend it was something different! In other news, git off my lawn!

…remembers the day after Labor Day meant Summer Vacation was over…
Likewise for me, 4(20). It’s also not the same without Jerry Lewis blubbering his way through “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with his tie loosened and yet another cigarette in his hand.
Considering the weather here, summer is out the door.
Gilbert Gottfried has a cute story about the MD telethon.
The only person still alive from that story is Tony Orlando.
Jerry Lewis was a Liverpool fan?
I liked the fact that anyone on crutches in the Marines was known as a Jerry’s Kid.
😍
I am annoyed by two things in the coverage of these elections – people calling the center-left AfD “far right” and people who insist the National Socialists were not far-left.
The National Socialists were not far-left.
The whole, invented the social programs that we copied in the New Deal, thing is clearly right wing!
How do you reach that conclusion? Their policy platform is entirely consistant with the left, they originated as a schism from the communists, they are ‘state and party uber alles’. What makes them not far-left?
I read a book that was a series of interviews with German soldiers who had fought in WWII, taken about 10 years after the end of the war. In one interview that stood out for me particularly, the interviewee unabashedly acknowledged the “socialist” part of the NSDAP, but clarified that it was good socialism with strong German nationalism, not the evil “international” socialism of Stalin’s crowd.
On Nazis and Socialism: Rainer Zitelmann went through every existing copy of a Hitler speech. I don’t have the book. Zitelmann talked about the book at one of his FreedomFest appearances.
According to Zitelmann, in order to consider Hitler a man of the right you need to ignore 90% of what he said and take the rest out of context. Hitler was of the left.
ISTR he either left or was kicked out of a Bavarian communist party at one point. Of course he was a leftist.
But the coverage is delightfully ironic. All the other parties refusing to even speak to the AfD because it is extremist, despite it winning increasing support, because… working with a popularly supported group would undermine democracy…
Well, no matter where you are, apparently nothing ruins democracy like *checks notes* . . . populism.
Yeah, it’s hilarious. Her traitorous party is going to “not work” itself into complete irrelevancy and it will be delicious.
The AfD is 3 seats short of a majority. If the firewall holds it ends in either a minority government or an unholy alliance of all the other parties. Neither will be stable.
Correct. In the Unholy Alliance scenario that government collapses within a year and AfD wins a majority in the next election.
Or they’ll do what they did in Romania a couple of years back; declare the election invalid for one reason or another (I believe in Romania they blamed Russian influencers) and hold another one. Hopefully with the AfD excluded.
“The lone justice dissenting was the ever-radical Ketanji Brown Jackson, who broke with her liberal allies on the Court to claim that the stay should not have been issued.”

Indeed. I wonder what it’s like behind closed doors when she tells Kagan and Sotomayor to pound sand
“Former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema Can Be Sued Under ‘Homewrecker” Law for Affair with Her Married Body Guard”
Kind of a stupid law, but when is her OnlyFans?
Alienation of Affection is a civil breach of contract suit. If marriage is to be a contract, there needs to be a cause of action for breech of said contract short of complete disollusion. That includes the parties which interfered knowingly.
If you want to be with somebody else – divorce first, then start the relationship.
Or maybe, and I know this is crazy talk, don’t break up your family because you find someone else attractive. The grass next door is probably not greener.
Ideally, people would exercise personal responsibility.
I’m working from where we are at the moment.
The grass next door is probably not greener.
It’s Sinema. I’m sure there is no grass at all.
[golf clap] for Slumbrew.
That’s funny. I assume it was dyed green.
“Does the carpet match the drapes?”
“Dont know. I have hard wood.”
Tres Cool:
“Do you smoke after sex?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never looked.”
I’d watch that for a dollar.
As long as the state sells marriage lisences and marriage is a legal contract, breaking that contract should come with criminal punishment.
Sinema wasn’t a party of that contract.
It’s still adultry.
“Sinema wasn’t a party of that contract.”
Yes, but this looks a lot like tortious interference, just applied to the marriage contract.
I don’t see why marriage should be a special no holds barred contract that anyone can negate without consequence.
Its too late for the midterms. The bureaucrat’s* win button – delay – will do the job once again.
*and yes, judges are bureaucrats; this doesn’t happen without judges (and Justices) dragging out the process until its just too late

The whole premise — that she imitates things on the internet without going on the internet — doesn’t work.
My boy occasionally draws a videogame and then asks me to play it.
Only in the last month have we allowed him to play any, NES and DS.
“The developers behind the new “Halloween” video game just yanked a twisted minigame that allowed an iconic character to have sex with high schoolers….
But gameplay clips quickly showing the character Dr. Loomis, a 56-year-old character modeled after much-beloved late actor Donald Pleasence, could have sex with teen characters.”

If they want it to be realistic, that should only be for female teachers.
Air conditioners are our best bet in the fight against extreme heat – whether we like it or not
Not what I expect from Gruad. Maybe they realize the anti-AC campaign is a loser. Maybe they will shift to AC being a right that must be provided to poor countries by wealthy countries.
I am amused at the suicidal smugness of the French.
“the world continues to warm amid the climate crisis”
Yep, still delusional there.
We will never reach peak Waterworld.
I think you are correct and it will become a human right.
So which of you are going to replace my broken AC?
Rhywun. I didn’t say I agree with it.
Not it.

Pornography is illegal in Ukraine. Legalizing could help the war effort.
“In Ukraine, the production, possession, or distribution of pornography is illegal and is punishable by up to seven years in prison.”
That’s retarded.
There are probably a lot more surprises in store there, for all the European and American fan boys of that miserable place.
Porn competes with their national industry of selling girls
They took the bribe to legalize the gayz to get Biden war bucks.
May as well crash their birthrate even further. Not like they have many young men anymore.
I have been wondering if they were planning on instituting postwar polygamy when the killing stops.
“A Missouri foster mother accused of trading a teenage girl for a monkey avoided prison time, even as a judge condemned her as reprehensible and apologized to her alleged victims for a foster care system he said had failed them.
Brenda Deutsch, 70, was sentenced to seven years in prison for child endangerment, but a Lincoln County judge suspended execution of the sentence and placed her on three years of probation, allowing her to remain free if she complies with its terms, FOX2 St. Louis reported.”

Was it an AIPAC monkey?
I mean…I hear that teen girls can be a real pain in the ass.
Sounds like a good trade. I remember the days of a teen age daughter.

Heya Banjos- how YOU doin’ ?
The victim-blamers here can bite my shiny metal ass.
I am poor and suddenly unhealthy. I was trying to help Bob amd my hoarder mother (no more). I don’t think he comes to this site anymore, only the Tweety.
I was musing aloud about the ethics of crowdfunding: is it like a baby shower? Someone else starts it?
I couldn’t even stand up last night, cannot think straight either.
Chafed, you were kind to me. I wish I could remember what you said.
Bob threatens to kill me about daily! Would I ask for help if I didn’t need it?
Oh, and he thinks I am malingering despite obvious health signs. Worst person I have ever met.
@ Jarflax yesterday, I know. You talk sense.
I don’t have many options. Can’t even see!
This house is unsafe for a 25-y.o. fireman, let alone a 70-, 60-. and 50-y.o.
Collyer brothers! The poor neighbors. No HOA; it would just be up to Code Enforcement and perhaps the Humane Society.
Yes, I am just venting now.
My mother’s mother was a hoarder too. Any thanks for helping with that? No, all I get is a HA-ha.
I don’t care if I end up like Dorothy Kilgallen.
You can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline. 800-799-7233. You could also go to the Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside.
I will try that, cher. I think I called someone yesterday my Glendale dad found to no effect. “Pa, (Dem), I know you like to think your tax dollars are at work, but so far I get bounced around phone numbers.”
Oh, and Bob threatens to 5150 me too.
You are so kind. Wish I could remember your details.
Surname or bar number. I wasn’t planning to lean on you anyway as you aren’t in my county.
I have been miserable since Bob arrived in January 2023, and it just worsens.
Since I brought it up to UCS yesterday, last night I watched “Aresenic and Old Lace” with Jugsy (don’t ask).
It still holds up.
I saw it a long time ago. It’s fine if you like Cary Grant slapstick comedy. He made a bunch of them.

“outrage” 🙄
His fans probably know what they’re getting into if he’s that “outspoken” about his various hatreds.
He was opening for Ed Sheeran, so many people who bought tickets to see Ed Sheeran probably did not know they were getting an anti-Semitic diatribe from the opening act.
He’s got three songs.

“The family of convicted killer Karmelo Anthony is seeking an additional $250,000 in donations on top of the roughly $634,000 already raised, despite questions about how previous funds were spent and the fact that his attorneys are working pro bono.
Anthony’s family and legal team held a press conference in Dallas on Wednesday, nearly two weeks after a judge denied his request for a new trial….
During the press conference, NBC 5 questioned the legal team about how the previous donations had been spent. Dominique Alexander, president of NGAN, declined to answer.”

Ugh I typ gud.
I mean, have you seen the price of spinning rims lately?
Rims should only spin at the rate of the wheels when the car is in motion.
Do they still do spinners and Donks?
A guy could have made a mint importing G Body cars from the west coast to the south back around 2004-10.
The chutzpah is impressive.
Ghetto lottery.
Today in the continued enshitification of our digital world I’ll introduce example 1,001.
I have a pretty good Japanese / English dictionary for my iPad already, but everybody raves about “yomiwa”. I figured I’d give it a shot.
The dictionary is fine and fully featured. If there were few other options I’d use it. But for additional monetization opportunities it’s got all kinds of useless “community” features that clutter the application.
I want a dictionary and not a fucking language learning community with flash card games.
Can it link to one of those singing toilets?
It might a phone flashcard game with one of them!
A few months ago I bought a new Samsung washer/dryer set for Jugsy (dont ask).
I’ll be damned if at the start/end of each cycle it plays a cute musical number. And for some reason it sets Marta the shepherd into a barking frenzy.
I’m asking.
Ive heard say that the ‘pen is mightier than the sword’.
Seems that pussy trumps them both.
Pussy trumps everything.

Actually its blind optimism. I know the score but I’m exploiting it while I can.

Do national retirement.
The author has it exactly wrong: this is not an inversion of feminism, it is the logical endpoint of it.
https://archive.is/IF9ZV
“Feminism” as we know it, has never been about equality or civil liberties, it has always been a female supremacist movement that seeks for women to have special privileges and to reshape society into something “female”. I don’t personally consider the suffragettes feminists because their goals were largely orthogonal to modern feminists; equal civic participation, lack of special treatment and symmetric accountability structure. What you see with Clancy is what we’ve discussed on this site ad nauseum: the logical endpoint of women simultaneously being held up as fundamentally superior beings and oppressed victims with no agency.
I keep going back to the school shooters. School shooters are almost invariably mentally disturbed loners who have been brutally bullied – just like millions of kids all over the Nation. However, the overwhelming majority do not become school shooters and we rightly treat those that do as villains. Because Clancy is simultaneously blameless and a victim, just as feminism insists all women are, she can’t possibly be held responsible in the same way as a school shooter. The hollowing out of reason in our institutions is a symptom of this “feminization”. None of this is to say that women are not capable of reason or logic; of course they are. It’s just that when you privilege specific female characteristic and amplify that to a macro level, of course you end up with these kind of downstream effects.
There is no sane reason to kill little children. So anyone who kills little children is crazy. That the prosecution had to prove she wasn’t is insane.
That she only heard voices while she was committing the murders — neither before nor after — doesn’t make sense.
The prosecution claimed her wrist cuts were superficial and there was blood both inside and outside the window, indicating she probably lowered herself out of the window. The defense countered (scroll down to the week four summary):
Clancy appeared to be crying as Laposata discussed the injuries she suffered in the suicide attempt, including cutting injuries and an interpretation of how her spine was injured when she fell. The testimony appeared designed to counter the prosecution’s suggestions and evidence that minimized the severity of the cuts and raised doubts that she jumped out of the window, based on blood on the shingles.
I couldn’t find the original report of the prosecution’s claims.
Clancy was a nurse. My speculation is that she knew exactly what to do to make it look like she was crazy, and everything worked until her drop out the window went sideways leaving her with a broken back.
I forgot, there were neck cuts too.
Reportedly, her husband called her from CVS while she was in the middle of killing her kids and she sounded normal.
There is also premeditation. Before sending him on a deliberately long errand, she looked at google maps how long it would take.
But based on astrology, tarot cards, and women’s intuition, her husband did it.
Pearls were clutched
No country is immune from the far right and, perhaps even more worryingly, no far-right party or politician is too extreme for political success (as the US has shown). We must therefore update our analyses and strategies.
For starters, you could look in the mirror and ask yourself if there might be a reason those dopey peasants have forsaken you.
LOL who saw the Guardian coughing up a hilariously out-of-touch rejoinder to average Germans rejecting the Marxism they’re so fond of?
Speaking of enshittification, I am on a quest to strip every enshittified thing I can back to its skeleton, find an alternative, or learn to live without it.
I also started buying physical media again, but even though I don’t game, Sony’s latest assholery has vindicated me.
CDs are making a comeback. I’m surprised.
I do buy them, but rip them as FLAC and just store the cd, but they are bulky.
I ripped mine to FLAC a while back, tossed the jewel cases and bought a couple of binders for the CDs themselves.
I rip and store them in these little buckets, which fit them almost precisely. I did have a bigger box I kept them in but I couldn’t lift it by myself anymore, so I got smaller ones that fit my shelves better.
I throw the jewel cases out.
paper sleeves — plastic sleeves (mine are clear [old], which I use for a variety of things where I can put adhesive on them and stick them to things) — boxes

I also still do have a Walkman (it works) and a USB cassette player/ripper, and I never get rid of a cassette until I can find it on CD.
I keep the jewel cases and the art.
They are the best way to protect the disk.
When the far right gets close to governing alone, or dominating coalitions, the main goal should be to strengthen liberal democracy – in terms of institutions and values. This should be something that all liberal democratic parties can agree on.
This does not simply entail strengthening democratic institutions – the judiciary and regulating social media, for example – and promoting inclusion and tolerance. It also means listening to the many concerns and preferences of the majority of voters who do not vote for the far right. In other words, mainstream politicians need to go beyond crime and immigration and focus also on such things as increasing housing provision and public spending, limiting economic and income inequality, fighting the climate crisis and strengthening European integration. And it means accepting that you don’t get everything you want – now or in the near future.
Commie harder, comrades. Vilify and marginalize anyone who disagrees with you. Exclude them from civil society.
That’s how you defend democracy.
Or agitate for civil war.
Buzzword overload.
Their favorite policies are destroying one European country after another so it makes perfect sense to continue them – no… to pursue them even harder.
Yes, I remember Biden reaching out to the Right after he won the cleanest election ever to make sure that they understood that their concerns were heard.
Who was it who said “elections have consequences”? I can’t seem to remember, but the lefties were all thrilled by it. None of them pumped the brakes and said that we should consider the feelings of the losers.
Bipartisanship: When the left is in the majority, the right needs to put their objections aside and go along with the left.
Also bipartiship: When the right is in the majority, they need to listen to the objections of the left and compromise in those areas.
“For baseball’s Black and Latino players, it’s always 1926 somewhere
If, however, it appears that baseball is an extension of Maga – and it very well may be – what Eddings and company have really resurfaced over the past is not exactly Trumpism per se, but what Trumpism tacitly demands: an incessant imposition of whiteness on American institutions, and an aggressiveness that emboldens the gatekeepers like Eddings to put the coloreds in their place.”

A writer that writes “Black”, “Latino” and “white” as such can safely be dismissed as the real racist.
Too Wongs make it white.
Customs and protocols are so white.
Ugh GFY the Guardian.
Now do the incessant imposition of “queerness” and “blackness” in the WNBA.
Speaking of enshittification, I am sick to death of breathlessly melodramatic stories or reports or whatever you want to call them, and in particular the ones with convoluted meandering peek-a-boo fan dance narratives. I don’t know if AI learned it independently from reading people, or if people imposed the template on the AI.
GET TO THE FUCKING POINT.
I assume people impose it on the AI.

I thought they were still getting taxpayer money?
These ghouls.
“It’s not just us. We’re talking about our children”
Old biddies wanting human extinction.
Since the crazy woman story is inescapable…
After killing the children, she attempted to commit suicide. To escape the consequences? Remorse? Who cares? It shoots a pretty big hole in the non compos mentis narrative. If she had gone downstairs and fixed lunch for her husband as if she hadn’t a care in the world you might have the basis for an argument.

tapped out – a perfect example of Get to the Point.
I think her problem with Mother’s Day is that she would have to spend it with her husband and kid.
At least that is what I took away from her narcissistic ramblings.
I’ll wager that her husband would be in big trouble if he tried to “pamper” himself on Conception Day.
Clancy was a nurse. My speculation is that she knew exactly what to do to make it look like she was crazy, and everything worked until her drop out the window went sideways leaving her with a broken back.
She faked the suicide attempt? Even less reason to accept the crazy plea.
I couldn’t give a fuck less whether they stick her in a “real” prison or a hospital for the criminally insane. Either way she will be a financial burden on the state for another forty years or more.
Oh, I wouldn’t bet on her staying in the looney bin all that long. Several famous murderers who were committed are out and about now, after hospital stays much shorter than the prison term would have been.
😡
“Not Guilty by reason of insanity” should be at minimum longer term than prison alone. After they have been cured of their insanity, they can serve their prison term.
$30 worth of exercise bands and a pardon and I’ll save us some cash…

The website flipped out at me for not wanting to be innundated with ads, but before that I just saw an article about some child annoying his neghbors.

I tried that at a gay bar and got the shit slapped out on me. Ain’t going back.
Can the U.S. afford a major war? Not with this deficit.
That depends. Are we going to loot Iran and take every drop of oil? That has a better ROI than welfare.
Another installment of ongoing NPR “Lethal Heat” sob story
In Maricopa County alone, home to Phoenix and where ASU is based, the number of heat-linked deaths consistently exceeds the entire annual toll across the U.S. from weather disasters like hurricanes, floods and tornadoes.
“That amount of casualties every single year, it just is too many,” Solis says. “It becomes a crisis. And that’s really what we were feeling as a community.”
Here’s a suggestion. Don’t live in the fucking desert.
And don’t be old
To be fair, Phoenix was never fit for human habitation anyway.
I usually avoid living places named after fire.
80 at midnight at the end of October 96.
I’ll never forget.
I spent entire summers running around outside barefoot. Wussies.
My recollection of heat deaths in Southern AZ is that they fall into two categories:
(1) Morons who decide to go hiking in the desert in the afternoon during the summertime.
(2) Profoundly dysfunctional people – homeless, drugged up, or otherwise just not gettin’ ‘er done.
Want to get kids off of screens?
Get them out of schools.
Every kid is issued a Chromebook in my district.
It would also save billions of dollars in maintenance and software fees that the taxpayers could have refunded.
Amen,
Also stop criminalizing letting kids play outside by themselves.
Parents in my neighborhood will drive their kids to the bus stop. It’s nuts. They could walk that 1200’ but no it’s too far for them.
Up on a big screen, Solis projected a map of the Phoenix area. She then overlaid it with a map of all the heat-related deaths in the region, each represented by a little white dot.
Then she added one more layer of data — where people were getting help paying their electric bills each summer, from public programs or local organizations.
An obvious pattern emerged. There were big clusters of dots collected in certain areas: lots of deaths, and little assistance.
Those clusters turned out to be mobile home parks.
Solis and colleagues ultimately figured out that mobile home residents in Maricopa County are some six to eight times more likely to die from heat-related issues than residents in traditional housing.
Ban affordable housing.
So Solis is going to sell all of her worldly possessions to buy these people window AC units?
No?
Fuck off.
Sorry to have been so dour earlier. Yall, I was too busy to receive your offers of help.
