I did something that’s going to irritate a lot of you. No, I didn’t apply for citizenship, I was born here. Weirdos.
No this is so much worse, I went to see The Odyssey last weekend. A review is forthcoming…I just need to find Greek beer.

The big news from Mexico is their biological warfare upon Taco Bell. All of this can be solved by adopting the carnivore diet, but on the likely chance you don’t here is some info on how you can stay safe by not eating tainted lettuce.
Earfquake! There was a tsunami warning that I assume didn’t manifest otherwise I’d be posting about a tsunami.
After levying tariffs on things like…hockey sticks. USMCA is back on the negotiating table.
Can’t wait for ICE to kick down his door.
I seriously didn’t think Daniel Ortega was still alive. The CIA used to be good at this regime change thing.
Since these guys are now the face of a CIA conspiracy involving Fred Durst…here’s a tune.

I always tear off the first 2 or 3 leaves on a new head of iceberg lettuce, and may or may not wash it at the time of consumption depending on how much of a hurry I’m in on my lunch break. I’ll be slapping said lettuce on my weekly cheat day cheeseburger this evening. Wish me luck.
The outside of a head of lettuce is known as “field wipe”. I throw it away.
Wait, ‘field wipe’ what exactly?
Never mind, I don’t want to know.
I thought that was common knowledge.
Well, he looks fairly Brown so ICE can’t possibly restrain themselves from doing exactly that.
At some point can we at least stop referring to these 40,000 page agreements regulating the sale, shipping, and taxation of hundreds of thousands of different products as “free trade?”
Amen to that!
I just got off a call where a guy from Cypus was extradited to FL, because he set up a system to provide durable medical equipment to patients in FL under a fraudulent NPI. All paid for by Medicare.
Those whole scheme is exactly what free trade would look like. I was impressed by the whole thing.
This time of year I’m lucky to have more romaine than I can eat growing right outside the back door. I was fighting Canadian Wildfire Sickness since last Thursday, and I finally got out to my zucchini plants to predictable results.
Don’t let anyone poop on it!
I’d say that’s always good advice.
German pornographers hardest hit.
I like how early Pantera did their hair in the early days. Kind of like the boys in Cinderella.
Poison was the prettiest. Those chicks were hot.

As a psychologist who studies masculinity, I’m certain that while the idea that more testosterone makes a man tougher and more fit to fight seems intuitive, it’s also mostly wrong.
Testosterone is often considered a “male” hormone, but people of every gender produce it in differing amounts.
Take that, you ignorant troglodytes.
It takes a real man to accept and embrace the gender spectrum.
Don’t F2M’s inject it?
Testosterone is often considered a “male” hormone, but people of every gender produce it in differing amounts.
Yeah, psychologist who studies masculinity, there’s my go-to for a sensible take on… well just about anything!
Making a statement of truth that obscures reality. “Every gender… differing amounts.” Care to elucidate those differences? Are they, perchance, systematically correlated with sex and hence, essentially 1-1, with ‘gender’? And further correlated with behavior?
makes a man
No, it’s the woman on his arm, just because she has big titties.
Yes, we know, you fucking moron. Higher test gives one the energy required to support consistent strength training and faster recovery. Literally everyone who does serious strength training understands this.
Democrats insist he learned everything about totalitarianisming from Donald.
You’re supposed to set up an elaborate system of rules and regulations that prevent ballot access by candidates from outside consensus politics, then lie and cheat until you get the result you want after your tax cattle have cast their votes for the couple of candidates you preselected. Like a proper, civilized society.
I was drinking Mythos last weekend. Went well with the Greek food and hot weather.
Or, he could just go with some ouzo.
Retsina, the wine that smells like a bottle of Pine-Sol.
I’ve only ever seen it at Greek restaurants, and I only go to those places for takeout.
I’ve actually studied Dimebag Darrell’s murder a bit – as a rampage killing by a mentally unstable fan, it was a significant outlier. The shooter behaved with an unusual level of competence (successfully bypassing the security at the Alrosa Villa nightclub, highly accurate shooting, successfully clearing a weapon malfunction and continuing to fight, and taking a hostage to facilitate his escape), almost to the point where a CIA conspiracy isn’t totally unbelievable.
Of course, the whole reason for the conspiracy falls apart when you realize that by the time Damageplan was doing shows, the Abbott brothers and Phil Anselmo hated each other.
For a good overview of the whole atrocity, Chris Arnold’s book A Vulgar Display of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa is an excellent read.
Oh, and there was a guy on the old Ohio Concealed Carry discussion board who was at the show that night. Dude was apparently an arms-length from the shooter when the gun came out, and could have domed him before the first shot was fired – but he’d left his pistol in his car because of the security at the door. Cautionary tale.
“dawning Confederate Flags”
Don, did it ever dawn on him to don his gay apparel at dawn?
I see what you did there.
Movie critic?
A man stabbed and wounded two tourists Tuesday morning near the ancient Acropolis in Athens, Greece’s top tourist attraction, police said, in what appeared to be a random attack.
The assailant, identified only as a 60-year-old Greek man, attacked a Greek American couple with a knife on a pedestrian street near an entrance to the archaeological site and near the entrance to the Acropolis Museum, which lies at the foot of the Acropolis hill.
Maybe he didn’t like the Odyssey.
Without a name and a photograph, I am unwilling to conclude that the “Greek man” was actually, you know, Greek.
Yep.
Somebody’s seen The Wire.
Burnham’s unbuttoned premiership is not a good look
What an utterly retarded take. And I say this as someone who’s worn a button up shirt to a remote job every day since November 2023. If there’s any institution that should not be taken seriously it’s government. This is the same criticism I hear a lot regarding Trump. MUH DECORUM! MUH CHERISHED DEMOCRATIC NORMS! These people should be performing in clown suits, and the fact that people cling so tightly to their illusions based on such superficialities is comical.
I will never be seen in a tie. I think it is the stupidest, most dangerous article of clothing ever.
“Here is a noose around my neck convenient for you to grab and choke me with.”
The necktie evolved from the hunting stock, which was originally designed for use as an emergency bandage.
It’s also a great place to hide a small knife…
Likewise.
I think I’ve worn a tie maybe six or seven times.
One guy in my unit called the suit the unicorn. I enjoyed that. The brass did not.
Just sayin’… 🙄

Excuse me, I have to go take advantage of these ideal conditions for mowing an unshaded, 8,000 square foot weed patch in west Texas…
I string trimmed and mowed mine yesterday.

Mrs. TOK used to volunteer at the Shedd when we were first dating. She’s been following this story:
https://news.wttw.com/2026/07/21/shedd-s-rescue-belugas-defunct-canadian-water-park-underway-report
The first phase of a complicated, high-stakes rescue of 30 beluga whales from a defunct Canadian water park is complete with four female belugas now adjusting to their new home at Shedd Aquarium, officials announced Tuesday.
The whales’ future has been in limbo since at least 2024 when their home at Marineland — a longtime tourist attraction in Niagara Falls, Ontario — closed to the public. When Canadian authorities blocked Marineland’s plan to send the belugas to China, the park threatened to euthanize the whales.
Of course the story has its share of assholes, including the Canadian government and animal rights groups.
Has anyone suggested selling sending them to Japan?
Dammit, ‘selling’ was supposed to be strikethrough 🙁
“Canadian authorities blocked Marineland’s plan to send the belugas to China” gave me that same feeling.

History lesson
Politics is an unending game of “what if’s,” especially for Democrats. Every four years, we hear a similar lament: “What if Michael Dukakis had not worn that silly hat in the tank?” “What if Al Gore had campaigned with Bill Clinton in Tennessee?” “What if Kamala Harris had two or three more weeks?”
The truth is, who knows? But I do know the answer to one big “what if.” What if Bernie Sanders had won the Democratic nomination for president in 2016? And the answer is: Donald Trump would never have become president, because Bernie would have won the election.
——-
So why didn’t Sanders get the nomination? Because the Democratic Party establishment — meaning the Clinton campaign, in cahoots with the Obama White House, the Democratic Senate leadership, and the Democratic National Committee — teamed up to smash him down. They couldn’t stand the fact that anyone would dare oppose Hillary Clinton.
It’s all spelled out in a powerful new book released last week by Tad Devine, Sanders’ 2016 campaign manager: “How the Democrats Screwed Bernie.” Devine documents the various ways Democratic insiders worked to thwart the Sanders campaign. Starting with the scheduling of debates.
Sanders would have mopped the floor with Trump.
Sure he would.
Sanders would have a stronger case if he were, you know, a member of the Democratic party.
Can’t complain too much otherwise.
Bernie would’ve gone to Wisconsin.
I’m not saying he would have, but Hillary was an incredibly unpopular choice and was a big middle finger to a lot of centrist democrats. At least according to the few I know/knew. Also talking to my customers, there was more than one that was a Bernie-bro that ended up voting Trump because Hillary was too establishment. I don’t understand the thinking but just know what people told me.
If Hilary was a big middle finger to centrists, what would the socialist have been?
Centrists was probably the wrong word, working class is probably the better choice.
Had a (academic) friend who was a full-on Bernie bro. When Bernie dropped out, my friend posted on social media about his thoughtfulness toward Hillary Clinton and how, as he learned more, he was becoming more favorable to her. As if, this was an intellectual transition. I mean, what shit: if you were on board with Bernie in 2016, and you were consistent in your ideology, then your vote should have been for Jill Stein, or maybe Trump (or, I guess, Gloria La Riva). But if you were a Bernie Bro and you voted for Hilary because of her ideas, then your ideology is team uber alles.
Imagine if communist utopia could have been achieved a decade ago. *swoon*
It’s wasn’t the helmet (not hat) that was Dukakis’s problem.
+1 Willie Horton
Think about it. Had the choice in 2016 been between Sanders and Trump, it would have been an authentic populist versus a phony populist. One who knew what he was talking about, the other who was making it up. Voters would have spotted the phony populist. Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz did. The real populist would have won — and think how much better off we’d be today.
Ow, my head.
I thought populism was bad. Wouldn’t a phony popular then be good?
Phony populist, that is. Damn autocorrect.
Populism is great when the progs control it.
See also, everything.
Pay no attention to that ditch over there.
I was not in a good place last night, thinking about my week to figure shit out for them to keep me, but I’m feeling much better now. Got shown up step by step, pretty much for the first time, honestly. I still have much to learn, and more’s a comin’, but that’s ok. I guess that means three days left. (Not really, but that’s how I feel about it, with some truth.)
Days thinking at an office are quicker than one’d imagine. Way faster than Walmart, etc. I didn’t stop for lunch the last couple ‘o days, which doesn’t displease me. Everyone else just eats while working. (I’ll soon join them, methinks. Too much thinking for eating.)
Puppy and parents are back. I thought I had another day to myself. Damn. Well. It was good to get a whiff. I’ll have this weekend to myself, as consolation. (What a tease! (Good tease. Like when Winston’s Mom was young, working socially but not professionally. Bubbly, she.))
To be fair, the U.S. used to have the occasional president for life.
I think the last one was Kennedy.
It warms my heart that I said something you thought was worth preserving.
Generally, women don’t age as well as men, especially white women, much less get better looking. But I was looking for a model character today and tripped over Elizabeth Berkley and she’s much prettier now than she was when she was young.
On that topic… [TW: show tune]
Checking out morning links and saw some fun with “Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms.” Told before, but reminds me of Dusty Bottoms, whom I went to high school with, friends of friends. He was a big boy, no clue how to judge weight, 260-280(?) of zero muscle and not tall. The one time I did meth was with him and said friends. He started to lose weight (partly) and he’s kept it off. Was on Ru Paul. Fun dude, though I don’t recall him being too bright. Amazingly gay. Nathan Lane in Birdcage gay, but much bigger. My school was ’01-’05 Woke Central. All the bright, yet somehow wayward kids in the Evansville Vanderburgh County School Corporation, first public charter school in IN. Still one of the best in the country, only ~250 kids when I was there.
“He came out as gay at the age of 20” HA! That’d be … 2007. Gay aliens on Zeupiter easily pick him up on their warp-distance homo-tracker. He’s done quite well. Good for him.

Oof.
I’m glad I was never that super gay. I think my mom figured it out but we never talked about it.
