Swiss Back Home Monday Afternoon Links

Fortunately, we did not have this.

Back from The Gathering…I see Old Man has slandered me by omission, because I, too, provided Pie a bottle of wonderful brown spirits (from here). But, as I was admirably guided by him in my wine raiding…er, tasting and purchase, I can forgive this.

One more thing – I have more hope in the US, since not only was the miserable Indiana Tollway finished with the terrible work of the past three years, the Ohio Turnpike is progressing nicely as well. Took hours off my drive each way.

But enough of that, now links;

  • Huh, I missed this one. You can guess what gets blamed.
  • Nothing to see here!

Nephilium introduced me to a rather niche group. Here is a good example of their work.

I’m wearing sizes 1X and 2X in the vid; some have more stretch than others and sizing depends somewhat on how you want to style them. For reference, I’m a size 38G, 18/20, 5’4”

So sad how our country is still in the grips of a sexist patriarchy. No woman can star in a movie or be an executive without being attacked.

You can guess what gets blamed.

    Indiana?

“Gun violence,” you know, concepts and things, never actual people.

Police working the event heard gunshots at about 6:01 p.m. and confronted one of the gunmen who “gave up and was taken into police custody,” Davis said, describing the suspect only as “a young person.”

We all know what the deliberately vague description means.

Here’s a link to an article with a picture of one of the alleged shooters. Rumor has it that it was a gang turf thing, that some gang member was on the turf claimed by another gang.

Officers were looking for at least one other suspect in the shooting, he said, calling on members of the public with information to come forward.

But without giving us any clues as to what the other suspect might look like.

Who are we blaming this week? Usha Vance, Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Chuck Connors, Tucker Carlson, Franklin Graham, or Hitler?

Last November, Masino told Glenn Beck, radio host of “The Blaze,” that she felt she had been “fired by America” after he asked whether she was surprised that she managed to keep her job.

She should’ve been fired by America. Preferably into the sun.

Authorities in Seattle said three people were killed and at least four others were wounded in a shootout that erupted Sunday evening during the city’s annual summer food festival held near the Space Needle.

Somebody put mayo on Jimmy the Tulip’s hamburger?

  8. The Late P Brooks

“We have far too much gun violence in this city and in this country and we’re coming off a week in Seattle where we’ve had three major incidents of gun violence in just a few days,” Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said during the late Sunday press conference.

“We have a lot of work to do as a city and as a country to make this better.”

    Eradicate the oligarchy.

    • The Other Kevin

The billionaires aren’t getting their fair share of gun violence.

    • rhywun

I wonder how many violent criminals they have either let out of jail or refused to prosecute during her reign.

    • EvilSheldon

‘Oligarchy’ carries some connotation of intelligence and capability; Mayor Wilson doesn’t display either of those traits. She looks like she’d have a hard time making a sandwich without hurting herself.

President Emmanuel Macron on Monday said one forest fire in southwest France had been “contained” even as another, much bigger one near Bordeaux continued to rage, and western Europe braced for a new heatwave this week.

French officials swore that they’d save the grapevines in Bordeaux, but I don’t think they’re being Sancerre.

In early 2025, Cracker Barrel’s stock was in freefall after Masino admitted the chain was “just not as relevant” as it used to be.

    “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Didn’t she admit at one point she didn’t eat there or something to that effect? She seems uniquely qualified not to be their CEO, but there she was.

      • Gustave Lytton

Most CEOs don’t eat their own dog food nor did they grow up in the same company. The professional managerial class flitting from company to company, thinking they’re all just interchangeable with the same executive requirements.

    Rich guy has opinions

Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke, whose company commands a market capitalization near $154 billion, told his social media followers this week that a tax-tiered voting system—one that would strip voting rights from anyone who pays no income tax—would be a “good system.”

No skin in the game, no voice? I’m okay with that.

    • Brochettaward

I’m actually pretty surprised to see a corporate CEO in modern day make a statement like that.

Add in that you get to vote on every bond and levy in any district you own land in.

  12. The Other Kevin

A couple of prominent lefty’s have posted “Akshully Elon Musk isn’t smart, he failed up. He hasn’t done anything useful.” They actually figured out how to troll.

    • Brochettaward

I mean, it wouldn’t be so hollow if they didn’t worship him and his contributions to the cause for TESLA.

The hate he now gets is so incredibly revealing. They can’t stop themselves from attacking everything about him despite the fact that the left universally heaped praise just a few years ago. He comes out with wrong think and they want to take all his shit, attack everything he does, mock his businesses etc.

It says a lot, and none of it good.

      • The Other Kevin

You don’t have to love the guy, but there is just no arguing that he “hasn’t done anything” or “he’s not successful”. There is no doubt PayPal, Tesla, Space X, Starlink, Boring Company and X are major successes.

I guess if any idiot can become a trillionaire, then we don’t need socialism, because all those poor people can just start companies and get rich on their own with no problem.

      • rhywun

Or better yet, just print the same number of dollars for every resident. Why bother working.

miserable Indiana Tollway finished with the terrible work of the past three years

So the Tollway is slightly less miserable? I guess I need to road trip out West to see if that is true.

    • Evan from Evansville

And he’s so open about being an asshole about it. ‘”If you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you’re back in the five boroughs — because you’ve got mail,” he crooned last week before promising the initiative would yield “the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world.”’
      ===
      Also openly vindictive:
“City Hall has published a list of not just the addresses it expects to be subject to the tax, but the names of their owners.”

What. The. Fuck. Publicly going after that massive, benevolent donor? And this? He’s got his foot stomped on the pedal, don’t he? Uh. Is there anything the Gov could reasonably do to tap the brakes? I’m 99% positive the answer is no. But. That seems like a terrifying precedent, and ungodly short-sighted. (Purposeful, yes.) Simply to hasten ‘redistribution,’ I s’pose.

What happens when his retarded voting bloc doesn’t get the cushy apartments they wanted? Revolt and heads meet pikes? (I’m 99% positive the answer is no.) They’ll blame it on Trump and whomever else in ’28 and beyond. Fucking. Retards. Being made idiotically useful by govt schools that graduate illiterates. Fabulous time to be alive.

      • rhywun

America’s largest city has a petty and vindictive junior high school girl mayor. Who happens to be a communist and Islamic-supremacist terrorism sympathizer.

He really is something else. I don’t think we’ve seen someone so thoroughly despicable in a long time.

      • Gustave Lytton

Uh. Is there anything the Gov could reasonably do to tap the brakes?

” I don’t think we’ve seen someone so thoroughly despicable in a long time.”

^^ This. This right here. And he’s overwhelmingly supported by wealthy white folk who think they’re being super -ultra- mega supportive of their darker skin folk. And being really proud of it. It’s.. well. It’s something else. I can’t think of worse.

I’ve determined that modern dating is akin to playing pigeon chess. As a guy you are stuck pretending that the women who expects you to entertain them is some fascinating creature you want to spend your life with while they dismiss the men around them as the boring ones. They create a bunch of dumb rules and standards on the fly for each situation that make no sense and legitimately aren’t measuring anything. They reach into a one text answer as if it’s an astrological sign. What, you asked me where I want to eat? How dare you put the emotional labor and heavy lifting on me, the woman (who is still to be considered your equal in every way that benefits her). They proceed to stop responding because they didn’t like your answer, then get mad and accuse you of not reaching out when you don’t double text. But if you do go ahead and double text even just for clarity that means you are desperate and lack confidence. It’s perfectly reasonable to these midwits to leap to these ridiculous conclusions over the smallest and dumbest shit. Meanwhile we are talking about a women who calls all of her past partners abusive narcissists who supposedly didn’t bother with her feelings and just left her with this kid she wants you step up for.

Few of these women would have an ounce of value without a hole you want to stick your dick into.

No, nothing happened in my life to spark this. At least not specifically. Just seeing yet more dumb shit women post with such certainty online.

It makes no sense. They make no sense. They’re all completely retarded and in no way, shape, or form the equal of the men around them no matter how mediocre they may or may not but are convinced of their own value and righteousness.

And the men are supposed to bend over backwards to try and comply with this outrageous system. The manosphere is filled with douchebags telling guys to act like douchebags because that’s what women want. If you are the dreaded “nice guy” you need to fix that shit asap and you’re probably like the worst of worst deep down inside etc.

Basically, the women say it’s all men’s faults. And the men say it’s all the fault of the men, too. Because they aren’t playing this stupid game the way the women want them to. So no matter where you go, no one is really holding these dumb broads to account for how ridiculous they’ve become.

    • Gdragon

This is the beginning of a screwball rom-com titled “First Is Last (In Love)”, isn’t it?

    • Mojeaux

I have maybe a unique idea of why this might be.

Single moms. Black men aren’t the only ones who could use a father in the house with a stable emotional base. Now, I’m not going to say that there aren’t a lot of asshole men, and I’m not going to say that a toxic relationship between your parents is better than their divorcing. Also, toxic relationships teach the children to accept more awfulness than they should.

However, since I don’t know how to sort out that chaos without a dissertation’s worth of qualifiers, I’ll proceed with the premise that having married parents, a stable home with baseline stable income, and maybe a bit of public shaming would go a long way toward fixing this.

IMO, these women are confused as hell. Their biology is at war with their brainwashing. They can feel what they want in their gut (normal stuff), but they’ve been taught men, marriage (maybe kids), reciprocation of affection, and showing respect to men are Bad Things.

Then before you know it, you’re 40 and your eggs are gone and you’re looking at your coworkers (possibly friends) who seem uncomfortably happy with their men and kids and you’re going home to your dog and ramen and doomscrolling Tinder and YOU KNOW THAT SHIP HAS SAILED.

      • Brochettaward

There’s no shortage of dopey women with daddy issues. They used to just go out and become whorish. Now they add a veneer of “feminism” over it.

But there’s a lot of things you could look at here. I said last night that a lot of these left wing fancy themselves as being super tolerant because they believe in current thing in support of marginalized group of the day. But women traditionally haven’t been particularly tolerant, and when we look at how they treat differences that create a lack of social cohesion in a group they are the first ones to turn on those people. They are the first ones to identify the wrong think and persecute it.

We have women who are told a lot of contradictory nonsense and they cram it all into their heads because IN GENERAL women are more conformist in nature. Even when they adopt the trappings of non-conformity, it’s when that has hit a critical mass and become almost the norm in their peer groups. They cosplay as the rebels because being painted as the rebel has somehow become the establishments mask.

Women have generally been the true believers in society. When society is fractured and hopelessly stupid with morals that are in tatters, they’ve basically lost the internal framework which guided them and gave them the attributes that have traditionally been praised. So the mother who in the past would have been committed to raising a good Christian son or daughter is now an affluent “liberal” white woman who secretly hopes that their kid is gay or trans or something non-conforming to the traditional because that’s what the establishment has.

Men have plenty of their own issues. I think what I’m getting at here is that when society is rotting, the tell may actually manifest in the women the most. Because they kind of embody the mores of the larger culture.

I’ve seen the issues with modern women ascribed to various things, but the more I think about it this is what I come to. If your society has lost its way and the propaganda of the day (amplified by modern tech) is preaching more degeneracy, the women are going to be at least the first and most likely to manifest the symptoms of this.

None of this will ever be studied in an honest way even if I am on to something. Especially in current day. It aligns with general aspects of female nature that I’ve gleaned from the social sciences and history over time, but even if what I’m suggesting was provable in anyway there’s no expert class or even a small portion of it that would even consider the shit I’m talking about.

      • Brochettaward

And I should also note it’s not just the batshit leftwing women. Just like how we note that conservative politicians have fundamentally accepted the fundamental premises of progressive government, many of the women who run around calling themselves Christian or conservative still operate in a framework given to them by the present day progressive culture.

      • Mojeaux

All I can say is I really hate how some women talk about men as if they’re all that way and I can see why men are pissed.

      • Evan from Evansville

In my (hopefully soon) reentry into the dating scene, I think my plan if/when this comes up is safe: I voted for Ron Paul in ’08, but I haven’t voted D or R since. See, if someone takes umbrage with my not being FULLY in support of DEMocracy, well. Uh. Easily weeded that one out.

To be fair, ex, who moved back quite close, is an absolute raging, Browni-AL. (She’s not wealthy, at the moment.) Screeching. Having said that. Smart and yowza-wowza. A terrifying point on the Hot:Crazy graph. Quite bi-polar. Crazy mom. But. Damn. (She lives close again. She’s not against hanging out. We’ve spitballed it. (She still owes me a bit of money but is paying me weekly. It’s ridiculous. I helped her w $150 and she’s paying back $25/wk. I don’t even really care, to be honest. May tell her that.)

TOS ran a goofy ass editorial today crowing about how California is winning the war on crime. Rates are lowest in history! Down 27% since 2011!

You have jurisdictions where they notoriously don’t even respond to a whole range of offenses. You have cities where people don’t bother to lock their cars at all because it just means their windows will be broken in and cops won’t bother to do anything, but it’s OK to Reason because I mean at least they didn’t steal the car after pistol whipping and raping the owner of it.

California law enforcement, at the behest of their Lords in the Democratic party, have gamed the numbers to begin with while actively discouraging the reporting of various offenses.

    • Gustave Lytton

Same with hiking. It’s just accepted that your windows will be broken and anything, no matter how worthless, will be stolen. Organized thieving groups that basically live at popular trailheads. And the cops will refer you to their website to fill out a report that will never be acted upon. But that’s what insurance is for.

    • rhywun

NYC had 300-odd murders last year. It’s better than the 2,600+ in 1990 but it’s nothing to celebrate IMHO.

When I had 2 soft top SUVs, I never locked my doors, and also never left anything of value inside.
If the door was locked, they’d just cut the top. Took me 2 replacement tops to figure that out.

Also- you’re not a top. Probably a very angry power-bottom.

I had a fantastic day at work. We weren’t busy, really, but I always had something to do. It went well. Kinda as expected, but nice to not have any wrenches thrown in the gears after the weekend. The day goes by fast. A different level of strange compared to online test grading. Still computer factory work, much Plug & Chug, but some nuance. I’m still quick tickled.

‘Rents had the 6yo today, and he made sure to stick around until I got home. He wanted to show me the work he’s done with his paper airplanes. Fun that he picked that up directly from me, ‘specially cuz he’s been in that dive for a few weeks now.

This pleases Uncle Evster ever so. (Next comes the atlatl. And no, autofuck, not Atlanta. Atlatl. (strike 3))
