They sell multi-stage shredders specifically for this purpose. He’d have probably been into it for $50-75k for a quality used one, which isn’t a ton more than he laid out to merely haul off the extras he had onsite, where they inevitably were shredded by someone with one of the machines.

I’ve been on a number of tests where facilities were trying to use them. You get great heat from them but not very clean.

Over the rainy weekend I sat on the couch, pet Lily and watched Arcane S2 on 4k BluRay.
Thoughts:
It was a different experience watching the show in 4k. Details I did not notice when watching it streaming were visible, and especially the clothes/hair were a whole ‘nother level of detail. Do recommend, unless you want to take psychedelics in which case you’ll spend all you time looking at Finn’s coat or Jace’s post-return blouse.
S1 was a straight-out-of The Poetics tragedy. Which means there were no character arcs. The characters were that they were and the interactions between their goals/characters led to inevitable results. The only way the plot could have changed was if random events had gone differently. Episode 9 was literally episode 3, because the characters were the same at the end of the season as they were at the beginning.
S2 on the other hand, was a plot driven story. Characters developed and changed in response to actions. I can see why people who loved S1 might have feel betrayed by S2, but S2 was a great show on its own terms.
And so goddamned much better than anything else I’ve tried to watch lately. Looking at you The East Palace. Low-quality “hit” Netflix shows are why I don’t watch the literally great ones until years after they’re culturally relevant.

A 3D printer expansion I ordered has been delayed because “the nozzles turned out to be only surface-hardened” and would degrade when used with abrasive filaments.
Nozzles are about an inch long, with a maximum diameter of 8mm or so, with an average diameter smaller than that, and an internal aperture of less than 1mm (0.2mm-0.8mm depending on nozzle). It seems to me that you’d have to try hard to just surface harden that, being so small that you can easily soak the whole thing. It sounds like somebody looking to cut corners ran them rapidly through a fire so that the outside read harder than the material was.
Or am I reading this situation wrong?
Sounds about right. How the heck did the vendor figure that out before it shipped? Sounds like they have been “burned” before.
They had a ‘Founder’ group which got units first, who reported the issue.
Their own testing had focused on the new features and after the founders complained they stress tested volumes of abrasive filament and saw the same problem crop up.
Hard to tell without knowing the original material specs versus what they received. I would assume some Chinese fuckery. Such as original spec was for through hardening material but the supplier had a bunch of material (such as 1018 mild steel) which can only be case hardened. (caburizing or nitriding)
I don’t know what the hardened nozzles for 3D printers are made of other than “Steel” which I know is a very broad category.
I’ve seen a lot of Chinese tooling that was case-hardened when it should have been through-hardened – drills, milling cutters, like that.
I’m just sad, because My Upgrade is delayed. I paid a pretty penny for it.
