Bees swarm when there are too many workers and spare queens. They are actually less hostile while swarming because they have no hive and are looking for a spot to set up. Wasing workers in combat won’t help the new hive’s chances.

We pulled the honey loaded frames out of the hives yesterday, the bees are not happy. We don’t use smoke, as smoke seems to agitate the bees.
Instead we use sugar water in a spray bottle, which tends to calm them.
There are thousands flying nonetheless, all pissed off at seeing us steal their treasure. We wear the white jackets with a hat and veil and gloves. It takes a while to get accustomed to bees bumping into the veil and clothes, like a couple years’ of experience. It’s not for the faint of heart.
I got stung on the thigh, either through my jeans or she had crawled up inside my pant leg. Some years we can go without a sting, this year I’ve had three. I think my partner had about 3 one day but that’s all so far.
Honey Harvest in 4 weeks, we’ll be ready.

1. Wholesome character from classic comic is evil? it a bit that’s a bit over played.

There is yet another remake this season. It’s closest to the actual original manga and is much more humor focused than all the prior adaptions.
Bonus that everyone was pissed that a white woman was playing an Asian in the live action adaption.
Isn’t she 90% robot anyway? Her appearance has nothing to do with her genetics at that point.

But originally Japanese. Really she should be played by an Asian, but the studio decided just dye her hair black.
Either rewrite the character as European or embrace the European “shell” the character chose. But they did neither.

He’s got well over 100 charges, mostly speeding but about 40 ‘criminal’
I’ve got eight in the state plus one out of state speeding and another moving violation.
Turns out three of mine were ‘criminal’ even thought they were handed to me as infractions. Aparently at the turn of the century in Idaho ten over was a criminal charge.
In Texas, all speeding tickets are considered criminal, so all eligible for jury trials. Also, laser is inadmissable as evidence, so I have never paid a speeding ticket where laser is used. I have also gotten pretty good about sniffing out defects in the citation or the criminal complaint. I have about a 75% win/dismissal rate.

I hated Family Circus as a kid. Prescient wisdom, I had in that regard. A few, like Foxtrot, were sometimes pretty good. Far Side was always fantastic, but I was always flipping to Calvin & Hobbes. I quite well remember reading the last strip, knowing it was gonna be the last. (I think I already had some of the books.)
Came out Dec 31 (I’m really quite sure), 1995, so I was still only eight. Waterson and Classic Simpsons (being generous, seasons 1-10) were by far my biggest cultural influences as a kid in the 90s, again, kinda hands-down, especially with the fall of the Soviets and the rise of Internet… the best fucking decade ever. And I grew up right the fuck up in it. So take that, all y’all.

We always got an evening paper, there was two pages of comics, on facing pages. My brother and I would open the paper, I got the left side first, he got the right, then we’d swap sides. Sundays had about 4-6 pages, color. To us (pre-TV), it was like the movies. I’m convinced that the newspaper/comic books were instrumental in honing my reading skills and love of reading..
Wizard of Id and BC the Caveman: Boom, especially the first. When we got it, also enjoyed BC. Always read the comics, sometimes brought a folded page with me to church. Good reading material when I got up for a ‘bathroom’ break during mass.
Fun rituals. Had a lot of access, and many many newspapers when we went traveling, which was incredibly frequent. Dad then still writing for the Evansville Courier, and Mom became a teacher in Evansville, but was also in the biz.
The Sunday color comics were big all the way into the 80’s. I grew up on that plus Bugs Bunny and Road Runner.
I feel sad for current youngsters who have no connection to past pleasures like that.
You’re not wrong about the 90s. It was a pretty great time to be in your twenties, too.
I remember one morning in the 90s I went to look and see what Saturday morning cartoons were on and there was nothing.
My wife is a little younger than me and she said they simply shut down one weekend.
It was all infomercials, wasn’t it.
The 90s were a terrible time to be poor.
Midn you, I can’t think of a good time to be poor. But most of my pre-college years were in the 90s. So that’s when I felt it the most.
Funnily enough when I was able to work and my own efforts provided the funding, I felt less poor, even though my first jobs objectively didn’t pay all that much. I might have been paycheck to paycheck at Xerox, but because I was working, I didn’t feel poor.
My 90s were a whirlwind of minimum wage jobs when I could find one, college classes, couch surfing, and living on cheap ramen and jars of dry-roasted peanuts. It was glorious.
E/I as well, although what stations try to get passed of as E/I is astonishing. I once saw an episode of Saved by the Bell with the E/I bug.
How many animated toy commercials included a mini lesson to claim E/I?
