Man, I hope Steve Smith isn’t looking for me…
Australian government continues to embrace multiculturalism. The most interesting quote to me here is that cutting refugee numbers would be a “betrayal of the party’s rank and file.”
This really is tragic. Some of the clips I’ve seen are astonishing.
You know it’s a small country when one disease case at one school is the lead national story.
Americans will never understand how a draw can be heroic.
Music? Yeah, I feel like I’m a little reckless and taking my chances with late posts.

Is scarlet fever all that rare?
The issue with a Scarlet Fever case in Australia is that they have a serious problem with rabbits, and at the end of the Fever the stuffed bunnies become real.
I guess we know who doesn’t read the links….
New Zealand isn’t real.
Well, I guess they need a rabbit proof fence then.
“Dinusha got solid support from the Sri Lankan lower order as India were made to toil on the fifth day, managing just three wickets”
I know what some of those words mean.

I’m guessing it’s a story about poors making doors.
Something about a caste system?
I guess it could have been Sky Hooks?
Does multiculturalism include American culture or the culture of the so-called manosphere?
Multiculturalism only includes anti-western cultures, Bigot

OT, but are you allowed to say in the Australian media that you don’t have an issue with gambling ads?
Sorry Post – what gives, with a title like that, I expected Canadian news?
Dammit, not meant as a reply.
Probably not given the dumbass laws they just passed.
I missed the news of the laws being passed, but the coverage of the proposed laws was an astonishing example of the media bias of “these proposals don’t go far enough” and badgering every brought in for an interview, even on unrelated topics, to state that they too hate gambling.
“I am in full support of complete legalization of gambling, including freely advertizing it. One hundred dollars says you guys are just sore losers.”
@TedS: yeah, the whole thing was stupid. Even if you concede that there should be some restriction on gambling ads (which I, obviously, don’t) the law that “permits” three ads in a certain time period is nonsensical. So, 3 ads and everyone’s safe, but 4 ads and everyone gambles their life away?
My guess is that his party wanted a complete ban but there’s probably money from the gambling companies so this was the compromise.
And, lest anyone dismiss this as a left-wing thing, the conservative party is criticizing the bill because “it didn’t go far enough.”
I would be happy with removing the anti-trust exceptions for any major league sport that partners with a sports book.
Seems like the same phenomenon as in the US this week where “conservatives” are gleefully supporting the movement to “protect the children” by… dumping billions of dollars extracted from Meta into state coffers.
Assholes.
Has anyone ever traveled to the Third World and said “I wish my country was just like this – let’s import millions of these people without any vetting or assimilation!”?
They conclude that these people are geographically oppressed and would suddenly transform into different people on being imported into societies they are fundimentally incompatable with.
Same way they believe communism will change human nature when implemented properly.
Sharing our magic dirt is the white man’s burden.
We can send each of them a 0.5 oz ziploc baggie of it.
I’m sure by the time we’ve excavated superfund sites they’ll stop wanting it.
The “magic dirt” bullshit always bugged me. Like, what, Africa doesn’t have abundant natural resources?
@WTF: “Like, what, Africa doesn’t have abundant natural resources?”
Of course they do. But they were so exploited by colonial powers that Africans STILL haven’t been able to recover and use them productively.
“Magic dirt” was never a reference to natural resources. It was a denial of cultural reality – the assertion that all anyone, no matter how backward and barbaric, had to do to become American was set foot on American soil.
@Raven Nation: LOL yeah, let’s ignore that the only time the resources were ever used productively was under the colonial powers. (I do realize you’re being sarcastic)
@RC Dean: I have also seen arguments that certain peoples were successful based on the advantages inherent in the places they were located, due to natural resources, climate, geography, etc. Maybe not “magic dirt”, exactly, but similar.
I saw those arguments being made in the 1980’s – completely ignoring that Japan at that time was an economic juggernaut despite having limited amounts of natural resources.
I’ve seen those arguments, too. There’s a lot of counterexamples on the (relative) micro-level, although I thought Guns, Germs, and Steel made an interesting case for why Africa and the Americas never got out of the Stone Age due to geographical and other non-cultural factors.
Like, what, Africa doesn’t have abundant natural resources?
They do. They also have natural barriers to trade and using those resources. Thomas Sowell wrote about them in one of his books. I can’t remember which one but I remember he talked about the river network. The river network in Africa is nowhere near as conducive to trade as Europe’s, which retarded Africa’s development relative to Europe.
Africa is surrounded by rough seas and no suitable ports.
The resources are there. Can’t access them.
And the interior is completely inhospitable in many places as well.
I recently watched a video explaining that the US had more navigable rivers than any other place, and it was key to the US becoming an economic power house.
They also explained why the major rivers in Africa were not navigable and had few useful ports.
Sub Saharan Africa has abundant natural resources, but Whitey banned the trade in ivory and slaves and crippled their economies.
From the looks of things plenty of people have, especially if those people will benefit from a permanent underclass.
No, Stinky, that set of people don’t go “I wish my country was just like this” they go “Ah, these people will work for cheap and gratefully support whatever I tell them to”
They want them here, but there is no way they will set foot where they came from – nor set foot anywhere that we put them here.
It’s an added bonus that it will make life more difficult for those rednecks in flyover country.
Once average IQ drops below a certain level, a high-tech / high-trust society is no longer possible.
I’d still like to see ICE drop the hammer on employers of illegals too.
Funny how the DEA can go after supply AND demand, but ICE only seems to go after the supply.
Hit a meat packing plant and round up all the illegal aliens as well as the HR dept (no sympathy for them) and a few execs.

I would like to support the arrest of HR people responsible for the illegal hiring.

Going forward, I will be using the “elephant” as a unit of measure* for weight.
They certainly do, Chafed.
African or Asian? We hae make sure the right one is on the scale.
I will be using the “elephant” as a unit of measure* for weight.
No foreign units. Use bison or moose.
A møøse once bit my sister… No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush.
African or Asian elephant?
re: The India link, “This is India, soon to be Texas”
I think it’s a dump there because they’re poor. The Indians who come here aren’t dumping trash in the river that I have seen. So no, I am not buying the logic there.
Along with the standard unit for length, the giraffe. I like it.
To be technical, an elephant is a unit of mass. Not weight. And a giraffe is a distance, not length.
Gravity is then a force which is directly proportional to the product of the two elephants and inversely proportional to the square of the giraffes between their centers.
That measurment has already been established in Leibniz-Yards.
I’m rusty on my units. Does this mean torque is measured in elephant-giraffe^2 ?
Korea would be an interesting case to study.
When I first started visiting there in ’88, the place was pretty dirty and grungy. They were still trying to recover from the war and you saw lots of shanties. Soju tents were ubiquitous. A soju tent was literally a tent that somebody put up on a street or road as a pop up pub. Served drinks and grilled food.
Now Korea has become rich enough that there aren’t any more soju tents. They all became proper restaurants. All the shanties and hovels that people were living in have become modern sky scraping apartment buildings. The backyard garages and shops are factories.
My wife’s hometown is a perfect example of this. It is a small farming community outside of Daegu (3rd biggest city). It used to be a cluster of poured concrete buildings that were slapped up at the end of the war. Now all those old buildings have been replaced with nice modern houses. Except for my mother-in-law’s house. She’s still in the same ramshackle house much to the chagrin of Mrs. Holiness and her brother. She is in her 90s and doesn’t see any reason to build a new house just for her.
Anyhow, Korea’s progression from dirt poor to rich and the effects on how their standards of living – especially in how fast it happened – is a gold mine for all sorts of phd research.
Also the crazy decline in fertility that accompanied that rise in living standards.
Sensei:
Yup. Instead of needing a ton of kids to work the farm, they now have 1. The cost of private schools and tutors (needed to get into the best universities) is too much to have more kids.
All those workers in the Kia plant want their kids to go to a good college and get a white collar job. You’d think they would be watching the fun we’ve had here with that thinking and avoid that pitfall.
Where are they going to export all those Kia jobs? Do they have a Mexico?
rhywun:
China and India.
Same as everywhere else.
I thought they would start shipping shit jobs off to N.K., let little fat man in on the action.

STIJLTH
Pride goeth before the fall.
James Chin, a political commentator and professor, branded her theory as “pure pseudoscience” and warned that those who try to challenge her thoughts are labeled “anti-Malay, anti-Islam, or worse, a tool of colonial erasure.”
You know, I’m okay with all of that.
Shut up lying woman. Your blatant fabulism is an embarassment to your former employer, which is a stunning attainment given they’re academia.
She might not should have done that.
There is one type of pet video that drives me bonkers. It’s those where people sit there filming the animal misbehaving, or worse, laughing while it happens. You’re only encouraging bad behavior that you will not find funny the thousandth time your undisciplined animal does it because you were not consistant in chastizing them.
This really is tragic. Some of the clips I’ve seen are astonishing.
The clips are so incredible I initially assumed they were AI until I read that it really happened.

Life imitates Lords of Acid?
I love that whole album
It is great. Back from before the term EDM had been invented.
Where “lost” means King Donald revoked H1B visas for yet another crucial job category that Americans can’t fill.
There is no need to import food service personnel. We produce scads at every quality level every year.
Hochul understands who funds her and Team Blue!
NY sheriffs sue over Hochul’s anti-ICE law that bans government cooperation, but guv says: ‘Bring it on’
Good. Hash it out in court. I have no idea how the radical left thinks it can impede rational law enforcement like this.
It is instructive to see her completely shed the fake “moderate” image she had been wearing in order to sail through her previous election. The GOP guy seems to have a chance to beat her this time.
“No one is above the law!”
“Except illegal immigrants!”
I found the court filing. I haven’t read the whole thing. It looks like the basis is the NY state constitution:
New York’s county sheriffs are independently elected constitutional officers under Article
XIII, § 13 of the New York Constitution. They are not subordinates or agents of the Governor or
the Attorney General. Under the New York Constitution’s guarantees of Home Rule (Article IX)
and Separation of Powers, and under the independent status of their office, they possess the
authority to make their own judgments about whether and how to participate in the cooperative
framework Congress created.
Doesn’t say where the cooks were from, but with that kind of money they could afford to hire citizens who can make the same food.
But I want to dine on foreign cuisine without cultural appropriation, bigot.
But why would they when there is a cheaper pipeline that the government has been promoting for decades? They would be literally throwing money out the window.
If you want American cooks, the initiation fees will jump from $100K to $101K!!!
I’m ok with H1B visas for actual talents. It does not harm American cooks when we import a great Chef, it helps them. That said, I somehow doubt that this is a case of a Michelin star chef losing his visa.
I would bet good money it’s just a bunch of line cooks. Anyone can do that.
These are H2B visas – supposedly, for seasonal workers. I wonder just how seasonal the yacht club really is.
Still ridiculous. Americans can’t do seasonal work? Bullshit.
Guessing their “Labor” is like our “Democrats” – the entire point of maximizing “refugees” is to cause chaos. They know it’s a shitshow but they don’t care.
That’s an outright admission that their constituents aren’t British people, their constituents are foreigners.
Yes. It’s been noted that illegals have more rights than Americans in several jurisdictions (i.e. Democrat-run) and situations.
The overpass protesters were out again this morning.
Today’s sign:
TRUMP FAMILY UP 2 BILLION
Once again a few old people and a couple inflatable costumes.
Congratulations, I guess?
Good. He has to pay for that ballroom.
Once again, fire hoses and pickaxe handles.
So the Trump family is also better at grifting than the Biden family?
Not surprising at all.
I bet Donald also spent time with his daughter Ivanka in a gold plated hot tub. Not just a shower like Biden.
I keep asking for details of the “grift” and what, exactly was done wrong or illegal, and all I get is some version of people shouldn’t be making money, and vague hypotheticals.
So, I keep asking, and pointing back to Clintons Lincoln room scandal, Billy Carter, and Iran-Contra, which gets crickets in reply.
He should just grift money straight from the taxpayer – they seem perfectly happy when Dems do that.
Yeah, but he is not of the body, and is thus unclean.
“Members of an immigrant business group that has spoken out against Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s plans for government-owned supermarkets lately have been getting slapped with fines from the city’s Sanitation Department — and some say it looks like a case of retaliation.”

This is my surprised face.
Welcome to Socialism. I wonder how many of them voted for the dumbass?
100%
Sounds like many of them aren’t citizens.
Not necessarily. Wasn’t it disproportionately the degreed and the single young women who masturbate to Mamdani that made up the bulk of his coalition?
Most of the city minorities vote blue no matter who. So they likely voted for Mamdani, and now they’re getting it good and hard.
NYC may already allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. I know the Dems are pushing for it.
Yes, and they turned out in big numbers for the primaries. These guys probably didn’t.
Only about 1/5 of eligible voters participated in that election.
Yup, that is exactly the sort of thing this administration would do. They are ruled by hatred and envy. Not one of them has ever had a productive job.
All my coworkers jabber about that game – and stay up all night to watch it – but yes, it’s a complete mystery to us natives.
Did the plucky underdog valiantly fight the evil overbearing bully to a draw to the chearingnof the crowd?
I know! What an unfathomable game.

I’ve tried to understand it, but it has never clicked.
On the flip side, I’m sure explaining baseball to Europeans is the same level of difficulty.
Well, there are Raiders fans in London, so, yeah, probably above the level of comprehension.
A rich kid in our class somehow acquired a cricket bat and ball.
We never learned how to play the game and instead used them to play our own version of Mondo Baseball. A bit like baseball, but the bat and ball were mostly used to inflict punishment on others. Lots of welts and bruises from being paddled or having that hard ass ball hit you.
“At least 25 New Jersey towns blew millions in opioid settlement money, reportedly spending the massive windfall on lavish purchases like an electric Mustang, custom monogrammed jackets and splashy concerts — instead of vital addiction services the funds were supposed to support.
The Garden State, which has lost an estimated 30,000 to opioid deaths and left 150,000 addicted over the last decade, settled a groundbreaking national lawsuit in 2021 against Big Pharma — Purdue Pharma, Johnson & Johnson, CVS and 10 other painkiller manufacturers — that was initially praised by experts, addicts’ loved ones and cash-strapped nonprofits as a measure of restitution and pathway out of the crisis, NJ.com reported.”
https://nypost.com/2026/08/26/us-news/nj-towns-wasted-2-3m-of-opioid-settlement-on-lavish-purchases-people-are-dying-because-of-this/

I’m shocked!
*not really*
No Way!
It’s bullshit all the way down
The most destructive addiction is government addiction to private capital.
They had better saved some of that money to air PSAs on the dangers of opioids.
The PSAs should feature snotty kids mouthing insufferable platitudes to the point where you want to start a drug habit just to show them.
“I learned it from YOU, dad!”
So the urban cities did what urban cities do.
And Summit, with a median home price that I’m going to guess is around $1m banked the money.
Shocking…
As opposed to non-urban cities?
City is a form of government in NJ. Not just a population measure.
Take that NYS “supreme” court.
Wait till they get to sink their teeth into Meta and friends. This is peanuts compared to what’s coming.
This is me laughing.
A third hundred in four innings from the unstoppable Sonal Dinusha led Sri Lanka to an epic draw in the second Test at the SSC, with the lower order supporting him doggedly through a fifth day of intense toil for India’s bowlers. By the time the teams shook hands, Sri Lanka had made India bowl 243.4 overs across back-to-back innings, having enforced the follow-on.
What language is this??
I suppose this is what folks from India feel like when Americans talk about the NFL.
My first late winter here at my absurdly multicultural workplace had two different cultural awareness notices go out:
“X date is Lunar New Year. This is what Lunar New Year is about, this is how it’s celebrated, these are the customary foods and celebrations…”

Gated and highly improved, the property offers luxury living, livestock infrastructure, trophy hunting, and year-round recreation with excellent fishing, a year-round creek, and abundant wildlife.
Land
Located just north of Columbia, Missouri, and only 2.5 miles West of Highway 63, Lost Lake Farm is a rare opportunity to own a highly improved 423± acre estate centered around a remarkable 27-acre private lake. Thoughtfully assembled over two decades, the property combines luxury living, productive agricultural ground, exceptional hunting, and year-round recreation in a private setting accessed by a gated entrance and paved road frontage.
The ranch is anchored by a custom-built 9,600± square foot residence completed in 2011. Designed with comfort, efficiency, and functionality in mind, the home offers 5 total bedrooms (3 on the main level) with a dedicated office, along with multiple gathering spaces and expansive views overlooking the lake. The primary suite features lake views, separate walk-in closets with a seating area, dual vanities, a large tile shower, and a jetted soaking tub. Two upstairs guest suites each include private bathrooms.
The kitchen is designed for entertaining and everyday living, featuring a gas cooktop, double ovens, double refrigerators, a built-in wine refrigerator, and a wood-burning fireplace equipped with a thermostat and blower. The lower level includes two bedrooms connected by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, a large recreation area with a bar, poker table, pool table, abundant storage, and a 12’x14′ reinforced concrete safe room. A full concrete bunker beneath the garage provides approximately 700 square feet of additional storage, including a walk-in cooler and food storage area.
Energy efficiency was a priority throughout construction. Improvements include a 6,000-watt solar system, Generac generator system, spray foam insulation, extensive blown-in insulation, radiant floor heat, an on-demand water heater, central vacuum system, and 35 emergency lights located throughout the home.
Outdoor living spaces are equally impressive, featuring a screened outdoor kitchen, steam sauna, fire pit, smoker, and a fenced backyard. A separate lake cabin overlooks the water and provides additional accommodations for guests.

seems they advertise world record crappies in the lake. What does a crappie taste like.
Don’t eat fish from Pennsylvania waters. That gave my uncle mercury poisoning.
Crappy, of course.
MO does not sound like short for Pennsylvania
Harrisburg is always PA. All others are clearly typographical errors.
Crappies are a panfish so they taste like sunfish, bluegills and bream.
Very tasty. The fish I keep for eating each year are all pan fish (including a lot of crappies).
They don’t fight as hard as sunnies, but they run bigger. Their mouths are also notoriously softer than sunnies and bluegills, so you have to be much more careful them when landing them.
A friend of mine in high school came from a family that owned several resorts. One resort had a private lake. They had it privately stocked with walleye every year. They only allowed electric motors on the lake as well.
That resort was pretty much a summer resort. Only one cabin could handle winter guests. So in the fall we’d duck hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon without bugging any guests. It was a very sweet setup. Lots of big, big walleyes to be had.
Pie, if I ever win the Powerball I’m hiring you to find me a house or two.

If I could get buy in from the wife, I’d do it in an instant. We’re already halfway there.
Rotting away in front of a computer for the benefit of an megacorp is a stupid way to spend the bulk of my waking hours. I’d much rather have critters and crops and a part-time laptop job.
It’s not to late.

His sausages were pretty damn good. His hand powered meat slicers were pretty cool to watch.
I’m happing slaving in front of a laptop. Back-breaking labor is absolutely not for me.
Fortunately, we have the choice.
Yep, de gustibus and all.
I’m sure many, many people would kill for my job and my situation. I’m certainly grateful for the stability and the flexibility and the pay. I still would rather be running a chainsaw right now instead of reviewing commercial agreements. 🪚
I am right there with you.
Everybody sees a grass is greener. Am I blessed? Yes. Certainly in comparison to previous jobs.
But corporate life is increasingly soul sucking. Working with large, inefficient teams and uncaring individuals who cannot be removed is crap. I might as well do government work. Hard to raise my head up and feel proud about any of it.
I still would rather be running a chainsaw right now instead of reviewing commercial agreements.
I am right there with you. Everybody sees a grass is greener.
I’ve very much in this ‘camp’ as well, but with major caveats. I do a *lot* of manual labor/renovation/etc around the house; remodel, re-frame, re-roof, re-tile, plumbing, electrical etc.
It takes a toll on the body. I’ve kept in good shape, at least the last 15 years or so, so am able to do it and I’m not suffering from any of the physical wear from the stuff I do. But I’m not sure that’s true if I’d spent a lifetime doing it. Where would my body be today if I’d spent 40 years laying tile or framing?
Just seeing the positives of that lifestyle makes one envious and maybe question their decisions. But there are down sides and trade offs and seeing only the positive side of the trade-off ledger is probably not very accurate.
The thing about having critters is, you don’t really get days off, unless/until you find somebody to cover for you.
But here is an influx of third-world kids this school year. We promise that once rare diseases are from the Amish and their insular conclave and not from these kids
You know… I know a city that there’s complaints about refugees being removed.

I was more thinking that the Amish could move to Springfield.
Most of us here in Ohio know how to deal with Amish (and Mennonites) already.
Moving to Texas would make it too hot to work most of the time.
That is one sorry link.
They have been well-known upstate for many decades. None of their peculiarities have been an issue until now, what with the race to totalitarianism the left in NY is conducting.
It’s retaliation for the Amish voting turnout in ‘24. It’s some “mind your place” bullying by the D’s
That can’t be true.
“Land of the free”
I wonder if there is another country where they can be free to practice their religion cuz this one isn’t it anymore.
Let your godflag fly! I’ve got no beef with religious people.
I’m still a bit miffed that as a non-believer I can’t get a Get Out of X card because of a religious belief.
Why can’t I get out of a vax mandate because of my own rational thinking (OK, not that rational most of the time), but the Amish can because of some ancient writings told them so?
I still have the document someone – Trashy? – created to try to get a religious exemption. Dunno if anyone used it.
100% agreed. My “strongly held beliefs” are just as valid as theirs IMNSHO.
I incorporated Trashy’s and Ozy’s works when I refused the FedGov mandate
Dunno if anyone used it.
I did. I re-wrote a not-insignificant part of it to be from a non-religious perspective in the sense of not requiring a belief in a god of any sort or spirituality while recognizing that much of the thought on the relation of the individual to the state is encapsulated in Christian writing and religious philosophy. So it was largely intact from the perspective of all the references he put together and the overall structure; just explicitly stated as a ‘non-believer’.
It was successful, so all the preparation I did to hand off job responsibilities when they fired me was for naught. The time between submission of the exemption and granting was so short so as to mean they didn’t read a bit of it. They (my employer) were caught between the rock of federal threat and the hard place of a state prohibition on requiring the experimental “therapeutic”, and so just granted everything to avoid potential legal exposure – the institutional zeitgeist was all in on mandates and they would have gleefully fired me, I think, if not for the state legality question.
Sometimes having a nominally Republican state governor and legislature has some positives. It’s one thing that I return to thinking about when I get in the “a pox on both their houses, they’re all the same” frame of mind. From the resolution of the libertarian ideal, it often appears that way, but there are concrete, real-world effects that say differently (probably even more true as the Democrats go full Lenin on us).
It’s not solely a religious exemption (which would cause Constitutional problems). It’s technically an exemption for strongly held beliefs.
It’s just rarely recognized/enforced for anything other than mainstream religions.
By most accounts we remain least-worst.
Think on that.
I was living in NY at the time and we all know how that went down. There was supposedly a jab mandate but I ignored it and nobody said anything.
Same with the jab “passport”. I certainly never obtained such a thing and I suspect it was mostly laughed at.
I am still waiting for all of the breathless reports from around the world of the piles of corpses due to many of them having no access to the Fauci ouchie. I wonder why the media showed little interest in reporting about them.

Anyone been watching the Minnesoda Brain Trust fuming over Texas refusing to extradite and ICE officer?
The ICE agent is a tard who wrongfully shot a guy and then lied about it to cover his ass. He should face some consequences.
However…
It is sort of funny to watch people who won’t honor detainers and release illegal aliens from jail instead of holding them get pissy because Texas won’t extradite a prisoner to them. They are big mad that the ICE agent might be let go and escape.
There is potential for more amusement if Abbott approves the extradition after the guy flees to Mexico.
I was hoping for this musical selection.
I don’t consider myself a true connoisseur of the genre. In fact, I’m not really sure what to call it; terrorporn, maybe? epic terror attacks on a grand scale? Splosion extravaganza?
Anyway, I watched one called London Has Fallen. Crikey, what a spectacularly awful movie. After a massive terror attack which does more damage to the London skyline than the Luftwaffe, one Secret Service agent must guide the President to safety as a horrified world looks on helplessly.
I always enjoy Gerry Butler, even if the movie is bad.
Michael Bay’s Explosions?
Canuckistan Sorry
Uffda.
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the Annunciation school shooting. Local news was wall to wall anti-gun stories.
Do you know what I find even more repugnant than pols standing on top of dead bodies to make their speeches? When those pols trot some poor kid out to make a speech about gun violence. Cowards.
I also detest the idea that we all need to listen to the parents of kids who have lost a kid. I feel horrible for those parents, but they have no more expertise on the issue of gun violence than any other random person.
All in the service to make you defenseless and controllable.
Stay classy, Democrats.

Last night was The Minotaur. Fortunately, there was no milking; not on screen, anyway. The Minotaur only made a brief cameo appearance at the end, and looked more like some sort of giant mole/gorilla hybrid than a bull. Theseus snuffed him anyway.
Definite glibflick potential.
I added it to the list.

Where are the parents whose children drowned in the pool while they weren’t watching? Why aren’t they marching in Washington for a swimming pool ban?
I’m guessing that there are some parents out there who have lost a kid in a school shooting who still support the 2A.
I’m sure that no journalo would ever put those parents on camera for an interview.
I seem to recall vaguely one or two. When the press covered them they were framed as beholding or brainwashed by the gun lobby.
One did after Sandy Hook, speaking to the Connecticut legislature, and the media misleading edited what he said.
I don’t know when sympathy automatically meant a call to action, but whenever that connection became default, our culture became worse.
Sometimes bad things happen, and sometimes you just have to let people grieve and rage against God. Not everything tragic needs a law.
Introducing the Every Tragic Act Needs A Law Act.
Now need to figure out a better backronym.
Swimming pools are a great way to answer the “if it saves one life” “for the children” crowd”. Around 350 children a year drown in pools, after all.
And you could actually ban swimming pools. They are fixed in place and not generally concealable, unlike guns.
But then Lia Thomas couldn’t wave his cock and balls around, you transphobe!
You can pry my swimming pool from my cold dead ha-
Okay, I guess that doesn’t work.
citing calls he made from jail to a woman in Mexico, talking “about marrying her and buying a house in Mexico when he is released,” according to the lawsuit.
That tickles my funny bone. Maybe Walz can send in a team to black bag him for a show trial.
He’s got this dream about buyin’ some land
He’s gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands
And then he’ll settle down, in some quiet little town
And forget about everything.
Maybe King Walz can become the leader of a neo-Fenian movement and invade Friendly Manitoba?
Of course, instead of drunken micks, the new Fenians would be Somali.
Just when they thought they had supplies choked off
President Donald Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday that aims to lower ground beef prices by dramatically boosting imports from other countries despite outrage from Republicans and allies in the beef industry.
Trump’s proclamation will remove tariffs from 300,000 metric tons of imported lean beef trimmings for 90 days. He said the countries supplying the beef would sell it at 25 percent below current market prices, as he first announced on Truth Social Friday.
——-
The White House had drafted a similar executive order for Trump to sign in May, but delayed and then shelved the plans as his inner circle was divided on the scope of the new imports. The import plans have rattled cattle markets and infuriated key agriculture groups and Hill Republicans who typically support the Trump administration’s policies.
A new wave of industry backlash from the American Farm Bureau Federation, Livestock Marketing Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and United States Cattlemen’s Association took hold before the White House released Wednesday’s proclamation.
Cattle cartel hardest hit.
RIbeyes are $8.99/lb this week.
“With cattle inventory at 75-year lows, we must focus on policies which empower ranchers to rebuild our domestic herd,” Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.) posted on X Wednesday.
You can’t expect those poor ranchers to navigate a market. They need guarantees. More subsidies!
Well, y’all just did your worst to run out one congress-critter who took a step in the right direction on ranching/cattle/meat supplies in the US, e.g. PRIME act. Maybe you ass-hats could have tried something like that as a first step and seeing what happened.
There’s no free market. It’s a mess domestically. Nobody is going to address the plethora of government thumbs on that particular scale, but we’ll just add more nonsense actions that keep prices artificially cheap while keeping production costs artificially expensive
Bulls are selling for $4000-5000 in my area.
Heifers are $3000.
A cow eats 2-2.5 tons of hay in a year. Figure 2 4×5 round bales per cow per year at $40 each.
Vet costs are probably $100/cow/year.
As much as I’d like to raise my own beef, I can’t afford it.
Honey bees, PONick, honey bees.
Slow, then all of a sudden.
But, beesteak isn’t tasty.
Sigh…

This is live on my device. Currently waiting 24 hours.
That reminds me, need to upgrade LineageOS on my phone. Maybe I’ll buy a pixel so I can run Graphene. LineageOS doesn’t have a native ‘duress password’ and I’m not sure about available apps that replicate that functionality.
You’ve been reading about the poor sap that used that reentering the U.S. I assume.
You’ve been reading about the poor sap that used that reentering the U.S. I assume.
Yes. I actually can’t really imagine a situation where I’d use it. I’ll simply refuse to give them my password. They ain’t going to crack it (it’s not a 4 or 6 digit pin that’s for sure) without the illusory quantum computing. My life isn’t on my phone and I spend $100 on it 6 years ago so have at it. And if you do crack it, enjoy finding… nothing on it.
But I want it just on principle. And I’d probably use it, just on principle.
What, did someone say Oppositional Defiance Disorder?
Is it Thursday today? It’s been a crazy week on many fronts. I’ll pay special attention to the Stoic post tomorrow.
Yep, it has been crazy here too. Of course the week that we expect the baby is the week that everybody at work decides to dump urgent projects on me.
Doesn’t help that I’m massively burnt out from the last 2-3 months of grinding on the day job and the moonlighting job. 😮💨
I need to head to your trash can for a few drinks. Similar issues for me at work, and for various reasons we went from 5 trainers at the gym to 2, one of which recently retired but somehow doesn’t have time to pick up more hours. We have a temp working for us for the next few weeks, then we need to hire someone else or cover classes ourselves. I’m feeling burnt out too.
You are always welcome!
If we lived close to yall, my wife would certainly be interested in filling in.
We live 40 minutes from her gym, which makes it hard for her to justify slipping away for a few hours each week to teach classes. She loves the job, but 80 minutes of commute for 2 hours of class just doesn’t make sense.
Also, she’s out of commission for the next few months once trashbaby #3 makes his appearance.
I was thinking about this yesterday, watching Alexander Rossi talking about how he was catching shit for being such an enthusiastic supporter of the race in DC. If it has Trump’s fingerprints on it…
I have never thought of Trump as anything but a clown and a blowhard since the ’70s, when I first became aware of him.
But- grading on an extremely generous curve, I’d rate him as possibly the
bestleast worst President of my lifetime. He’s great if only for the reason that he has broken all of the most execrable people in our society. Sometimes our leaders don’t need to be good men, they just need to be people who break the bad (wo)men.
It’s too bad a lot of them are itching to take the reins and punish the country for delaying the utopia they promise.
Crazy how tainted anything 250-related became simply because of who is in charge. Politics Uber Alles. SAD!
