“Also related to military action in the Caribbean and South America, Massie’s seventh article accuses Hegseth of the “Kidnapping of a Sovereign Foreign Leader” for his role in Operation Absolute Resolve, the January mission in which U.S. Special Forces apprehended and extracted former Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores from Caracas. Massie’s article condemns Hegseth for doing so “without constitutional or legal authority.”
How do you do a surprise attack while going through Congress?
I guess Massie wants to beclown himself on the way out.
Yeah, this display of petty, ineffectual TDS is not a good look.
Auditioning for a job with a never-Trump organization?
never-Trump organization
Talk about a very limiting career prospect.
I don’t think he wants a job.
He’s got plenty of money.
Massie is letting his anger turn him into a caricature of himself, or maybe setting himself up to be the token libertarian voice on a lefty show.
Yeah, the idea that he might actually be talking out of principle is just ridiculous. Of course he has a bit of personal pique to work off, or let loose; it isn’t like Trump and the whole rest of the Republican party isn’t ripe for being ripped open for their hypocrisy.
It is ridiculous. If this was a principled stand he’d have filed a dozen other articles of impeachment over his career.
Congressional declarations of war usually don’t contain op plans. But I can’t really blame anyone for not knowing this, considering how long it’s been since we’ve actually seen one.
I have to say, I’ve had just about enough of don’t-rock-the-boat uniparty Republicans and their eloquent, statesmanlike concession speeches. Just for the aesthetics alone, I rather like someone willing to flip over the table on his way out the door.
#metoo
I left a long time ago. It took me a long time but Reagan’s first visit and I was outta there. Fool me 1,2,3, maybe 4-5 times but even I began to catch on.
Pound me too.
How do you do a surprise attack while going through Congress?
That might be your first clue that it wasn’t within the legitimate bounds of our governmental actions.
Since when?
Why don’t you give me a run down of all the times this was done from the early republic on.
I mean, of course excepting the failed plot to kidnap Hitler and put him on a show trial in NYC, but besides that.
Massie’s in the right here and Hegseth is a piece of shit and an incompetent mental deficient, as is his boss. It won’t go anywhere with this congress but we’ll see what happens once they seat the next one.
“Why don’t you give me a run down of all the times this was done from the early republic on.”
Because I’d have to write a series of books?
““The first phase was destroy the nuclear program, destroy their conventional military, destroy their ability to project power in a way that they were able to even a couple of years ago,” he said.
The second phase, Vance explained, is to “ensure that they’re not able to rebuild and try to maintain as much global stability in the wake of that.”
You can’t conquer Persia without an all out war effort.
Then what was all that yapping about putting together a big fund to rebuild Iran?
What a fucking clown show. Leaving aside the strategic wisdom of this (which I honestly think is arguable on both sides), the execution has been shit.
Even if there are “geo-strategic realities” – this has been a shit show from the start, and out of bounds for what our Constitution allows.
I’m certainly open to the idea of preventing apocalyptic Muslim freakshows from getting a nuke (although I think it’s probably futile in the long run.) But if you’re gonna do that shit, you need to make a real strategic and operational intelligence assessment, ideally while you’re not high on your own farts from successfully beating up a bunch of commie retards in Venezuela.
ES. I think the only way to stop them is to eliminate 1.2 billion people worldwide and the optics of that are not good.
Silly me, I thought the first phase was to attack, and the second phase was to accept surrender and declare victory.
Second phase is the US surrenders, and simultaneously declares victory.
It’s too much like pro wrestling, RJ.
We bombed (and bombed, then bombed some more in VN),(then went to Cambodia and bombed them for good measure, can’t be too sure) and still they came, with lots of armor .
The Persians live there, we have to go home at some time
Vance: ‘First Phase’ of U.S.-Iran Conflict Is Over — ‘Much Different Phase’ Coming Within Months
Two weeks to flatten the curve!
Two weeks to flatten the country.
/me, six months into this shit
“U.S. Attorney Seeks Forfeiture Of $61 Million In Cryptocurrency From The Iranian Military’s Black-Market Oil Sales”
That will buy us what, six missiles?
Yeah, but it buys Iran thousands of drones.
Still sounds like peanuts.
Start a war and then steal their money. Our current era par for the course.
“House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who voted present.”
Please clap.
“The attempt to impeach the president was led by Texas Democratic Rep. Al Green, who wanted to impeach Trump over federal immigration officials’ killing of two U.S. citizens earlier this year.”
They had it coming.
Yep.
That’s 64 hypocrites who will enthusiastically vote for impeachment on November 4.
Since voting “present” has exactly the same effect as voting “no”, it shouldn’t be allowed. Or at least, should be derided as the show of cowardice that it is.
I don’t know, this vote seems like they aren’t so sure of a win in Nov. Otherwise, they would want to be on record as helping take OMB down.
whaddup doh’
Heya Banjos- how YOU doin’
Vance reportedly voted against this turd of a war back in February. Now he’s going to try to own it while running for President in 2 years? Does he know that Trump can’t fire him?
He will own it regardless unless he resigns the VP spot in protest.
“Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), one of Washington’s biggest crypto advocates, said the Clarity Act is not a partisan bill, noting that Democrats secured more than 100 separate concessions and accounted for half of the bill’s 630 pages.”
630 pages?
It’s complicated, you wouldn’t understand. They had to bring in experts from crypto companies to write it.
You’d rather that Congress write 10 pages and delegate all of the actual provisions to the administration?
[Yes, I am being a contrarian turd this morning. What I would assume we really want is for Congress to STFU and leave it all alone.]
So no different from every other morning.
I kid, I kid!
We always need voices to make people stop and examine their group-think.
Some days I am just slightly contrarian.
Squawk had Sen Alsobrooks (D-MD) on this morning – she is major sponsor. Apparently, one of the many additions Dems wanted was to force Trump and Family to divest essentially all holdings (focus on crypto) and also provisions to allow STATE Attorney’s General to prosecute.
Any bill that’s I’ve 15-20 pages including the cover sheet should be voted against.
No wonder why crypto has tanked.
CBS News shows pictures of the damage to U.S. bases in the Middle East.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-photos-damage-u-s-kuwait-saudi-arabia-iran-drone-missile-attacks/
I didn’t know you’re in favor of OpSec violations now.
I’m against being lied to. This war is a military and economic disaster. But Trump, Vance, and the Cabinet are out there doing their best Baghdad Bob impressions.
There is no Opsec on this. The Iranians have all the Russian and Chinese satellite imagery they need for target and damage assessments. Every dude on the street with a cell phone is now a potential spy.
The images were sent to CBS News by active service members on condition of anonymity because of rigid media restrictions within the military.
Not a violation when it confirms our priors.
This is not the whistle-blower you want?
As for being lied to – what is the first casualty of war?
Meh. Pics of the E3, the refiners that got hit and video of those base housing units getting hit have been out since this spring.
Hopefully the U.S. does not return to that base.
We shouldn’t aid in protecting those people or contributing to their economy. They are not our friends.
The refuelers
Since I mentioned OpSec, what happened to the people who violated it on the Theodore Roosevelt in the early days of covid?
It was female sailors instagramming their discharge pregnancies, so its all good.
That and the damn cruise liner were the first EVIDENCE that all of the fear was overblown. We knew that early on, but still the fucking herd stampeded.
I’d argue were were herded and any stampede was caused by the cowboys.
So he’s saying Trump did the needful?
Prolific reduction sounds wrong
“Ask your doctor”
Many reduction.
Meanwhile if you only watch the MSM, all you know about Patel is he’s a drunk or some shit.
The left really, really hates him and “reducing crime” is as good as an explanation I can come with. They hate that.
“WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats grilled FBI boss Kash Patel on whether the bureau hires people who had sex with animals, blasted him as a “thug,” and accused him of being a drunk during an off-the-rails Judiciary Committee hearing.”
https://nypost.com/2026/09/15/us-news/dems-grill-patel-on-sex-with-animals-drinking-on-the-job-frat-boy-goals-in-off-the-rails-hearing-shut-up/
I’m also sure they don’t like that he pushes back on Democrat talking points. There were some amusing exchanges.
“That response drew some head-scratching from soundbite savant Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), who drilled down on the extent to which people who had sex with animals can become agents.
“A lot of these cases, when human traffickers, who are some of the worst individuals on planet Earth, they don’t just traffic you for prostitution; they traffic you for degrading acts of all kinds,” Patel explained. “And some of these individuals would go on to be law enforcement officers.”
This is a significant demographic?
Among Team Blue?
Among civil servants?
I gotta know, exactly what was the course of events that led to the FBI saying “we’re missing on real talent by not hiring people who were trafficked for sex with animals”. Who exactly came up with that and approved it?
Wait until they start hiring for people with *your* kinks!
I am surprised they didn’t just accuse him of working for the Israeli’s.
That seems to be the go to when you don’t know any facts but want to get a lick in.
Kash missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get the old, “But you get drunk one night and fuck a sheep…” joke on the congressional record. Unimpressive.
So, are you saying that he is no longer the goat, ES?
They didn’t want to loose the best Frat pledged who F’ed the goat.
“Is that a significant demographic”
If it’s under 2.5% of the population i ignore it.
Of course they fucking did. And that limp-wristed swamper Roberts colluded with them to allow it.
“Meet Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s handpicked super-woke globalists he thinks will save us from an AI apocalypse

CWABOA
In my mind, we are more likely to get an apocalypse from open borders, genderless pronouns, and “Effective Altruism” (which, if I recall, is a euphemism for laundering money to leftist NGOs).
It’s the same globalist Bond villains who have been accumulating more and more power every year – just wrapped up in a new package of DOOM.
I hate to use the word cult, but it’s appropriate here. These tech guys all read the same books, attend the same parties, and listen to the same lectures. They are all convinced the world is spiraling toward destruction and they’re the brain trust that can save us all.
rhy don’t go stealin’ Alex‘s shtick without throwing in Marxist and cabal!
Those things go without saying.
TOK is right. The commonalities between progressives and destructive cults are too numerous to ignore. The social and intellectual isolation, the cultivated narcissism, the love bombing, the thought-stopping rituals – it’s pretty much all there.
The next Dem administration will not be able to hide its glee at the thought of selling out the country to those weirdo commie ratfuckers.
“The Texas police department that arrested a mother for criticizing the town’s dirty drinking water on social media has been ordered to disband after the state ruled that it provided no “benefit to the community.”
The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement sent Trinidad Mayor Dennis Haws a letter on Sept. 9 revoking the city’s license to operate its own police department — determining the department had “failed to meet minimum standards” as a law enforcement entity, KETK reported….
The investigation into the department was triggered after Jennifer Combs was arrested for felony false alarm or report and tossed in jail for a night in May following a Facebook post alleging that bacteria in Trinidad’s water pipes had hospitalized residents….
Police also arrested a supporter of Combs, citizen journalist Winston Noles, for misdemeanor disorderly conduct after he displayed a “f–k bad cops” sign outside city hall, FOX 4 reported.”

Did they think they were in England?
<==
Well played
Did they do a Texas Super Troopers movie?
Feels like a Joe Don Baker movie.
More of this, please. More, everywhere.
Good start.
Cities should not have police departments.
Sheriff’s departments with an elected sheriff only.
“A Wisconsin teacher confessed to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old she babysat — after she was caught texting about her perverted behavior with another now-convicted pedophile educator.
The small town of Hudson has been rocked by the back-to-back scandals involving Abigail Faust, 25, whom cops zeroed in on while investigating fellow River Crest Elementary School teacher and convicted pervert Madison Bergmann.
Faust and Bergmann, 26 — who pleaded guilty last year to sexually assaulting one of her 11-year-old students and is currently serving a six-year prison sentence — were nabbed texting about their disgusting hookups….
Faust admitted to sexually assaulting the 15-year-old while working as the family’s nanny in Washington County. She was charged in a second case for allegedly kissing a fifth-grade boy in her classroom last year.”
https://nypost.com/2026/09/15/us-news/wisconsin-teacher-abigail-faust-guilty-of-sexually-abusing-student/
There must be a social contagion. What are these teachers being taught in college?
That boys are hot for teacher so this is actually OK?
Isn’t fifth grade around ten-years-old? Are they gooning to South Park?
I can’t tell if there’s more pedophilia, or that it’s always been around and we were hopelessly naive about it.
I used to wonder that, but if this was always happening people would have heard about it.
If it was always around you’d have to assume young males were ashamed of what happened, and not bragging about it.
Not just the boys, all these young women keeping quiet for decades.
We have all heard stories about young men being seduced by older women. Hell, there have been Tom Cruise movies about it.
What we are starting to hear is women being arrested for it. And I am guessing that is because it is no longer being swept under the rug.
I wouldn’t call ten and eleven “young men”.
TOK. My wife and I go back and forth on this. I believe the rates are fairly constant in the U.S. and it’s simply being caught more.
She’s convinced that the media, connectivity, porn, and the alphabet people are creating more of it.
She’s winning me to her side on this one.
You don’t become something unless you have learned the behavior from somewhere. Can’t breed em, gotta groom em.
What are they being taught in college?
Nothing.

Oil Executives Say the Great Fuel Crisis Is Here
Trump officials say the oil-market disruption is temporary, but Chevron’s Mike Wirth and others warn global supplies are running low, with no respite in sight

He must not be aware of the administrations fool proof plan coming online. Just you wait, as HoJo said – things can only get better!
So forgive me for my genocidal insinuations…but if the third world has decided that they just want to watch the world burn, then they need to burn along with it. They’re overdue for a lesson that no matter how shitty your like of mud bricks and AK-47s* is, it can always get worse.
Yeah, if we’re going to be the true imperial power and arbiter of all conflicts (to be resolved in OUR favor), we’re going to have to shitcan a whole bunch of Judeo-Christian-American values.
My wife is currently reading revelations.
My genocidal thoughts are always near the surface. I don’t have power but I understand that some groups march to the beat of a different drummer. Sometimes you have to give them what they want. The open age goat fuckers crave death.
The west should not deal with them at all. No visas. 100% deportations. No trade with them. Let them slaughter eachother and if they step outside of the hellscape of their own making nuke them back to the stone age.
Otherwise it ends like the book my wife is reading. And it will because the west is weak and soft.
It’s about 100 years too late for that (or 250 years if you believe Obama’s ridiculous lies).
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Rhy.
I’be convinced myself that the first amendment protections of religion only applies to Christian denominations. Anyone else is simply tolerated.
Wirth (Chevron) also made comments last year contradicting the administration regarding investment in Venezuela (they are now hyping this investment), he is allegedly Republican-leaning but came out against Trump/Republicans in 2021 after the “Capitol Riots” and said he needed to rethink political donations. Just checked the Chevron stock – doing quite well…
I don’t have any Chevron but oil across the board is down today. Up on the week.
In response to the article about the trump assassination being a democrat plot, I wanted to post that map of the security perimeter. The one that has the weird Pac-Man shape that excludes the only high-ground vantage point immediately overlooking the stage.
It was all over the place in the aftermath of the shooting. We talked about it here several times.
But for some reason the question “why was the building overlooking the stage not secured, even though it was the law enforcement command post for the event” has not been explored at all after the head of the secret service was asked why there were no agents on that roof and she said it was too steep.
And now? That map seems to have been scrubbed from the internet.
Google has no idea what I am talking about. I tried a bunch of different prompts abd got plenty of maps of the site, but no mapl showing the security perimeter.
So I asked AI. Several variations of prompts also failed to produce this map.
It is just gone.
Anyone have a link?
The administration has done a good job of manipulating fuel prices for the past 6 months. But at some point, it just runs out.
I keep wondering if prices will just keep drifting up until demand destruction gets us to a new equilibrium. Or, will our leaders do a Covid style energy lockdown.
We have about 6 weeks before they need a gas price Armageddon to sway the election. Could this be a prescient post by Drake? Is AlGore finally going to get his $5 gallon of gas?
I think we all know that the Dems will stop at nothing to “win”. Their entire platform is all about wrecking the country anyway so why not get started on it early.
I think Drake is saying the gas prices will kill us all.
The joke’s on him: I was already killed by the Y2K bug.
Didn’t Obama want $8 gal?
Be like the Europoors.
Let’s not forget, the guy in charge of personal protection was promoted (by Democrats) shortly after that event.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GS90oL2XcAI24Uh.jpg
OK, a dozen prompts later, I found a version. Not the same one I was thinking of, but it is illustrative.
It took 8 or 10 tries building context to get Grok to talk about this shape and acknowledge that there were a lot of references to this at the tjme
The map I remember was far better than this one with a few other colors and I think a division of sectors, inside and outside the fence.
This is roughly that but dumbed down for the PBS crowd.
I guess it depends on your search engine. I brought up tons of maps and old new stories using the Brave search engine. Maybe not the exact picture and story, but no shortage of other stories.
Indie look at the site: https://mapcreator.io/galleries/bild-assassination-attempt-on-ex-president-trump-in-pennsylvania/
CBS: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-rally-shooting-tree-snipers-analysis-video-satellite-imagery-cbs-news/
Lots more, but I only get two links before my post goes under review.
Yes. Those are the maps I saw too. They do a good job of showing that the shooter had an excellent vantage point to take the shot, and that the Secret Service snipers had clear shots to take him out once he poked his head up.
But what they do not make clear is the fact that all of the area around the stage and the field was secured…. except the high ground and building overlooking the stage.
I think the map I linked above eggagerates the claim, showing areas around that building as secured when maybe they were not. Maybe this is why it stuck in my head and at the same time why it doesnt get pulled in to the official accounts.
But it is still odd that it is so hard to find now. Vatiations of that map were widely discussed at the time
I asked AI to debunk the Pac-Man map and here is what it said:
In short, the red circle is a simplified visual metaphor (the “Pac-Man” shape) chosen for clarity and impact in early media discussion. It correctly highlights the gap in coverage toward the AGR buildings but does not accurately depict the real shape or exact boundaries of the fencing and screening points.
No major contemporaneous sources appear to have issued a formal “this specific image is false” fact-check focused solely on the geometry, because the underlying security failure it illustrates (AGR left outside the perimeter) was real. Later official maps and analyses simply replaced the stylized circle with more precise property/fence-line diagrams.
Map: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GS90oL2XcAI24Uh.jpg
I recall something about a local cop wanting to go and take out whatever was on the roof but the SS wouldn’t let him up there. Is that right?
I suspect that this was laziness on the part of the USSS, rather than malice.
Look at the other buildings inside the security perimeter. Most of them are pole barns and sheds. Simple, easy to search and secure. Compare those to the building where the shot was taken from. Multi-story connected buildings with probably twenty or thirty entrances and exits. Securing a building that size would have required a lot of time and personnel, so they probably didn’t bother. There wasn’t any threat intelligence, and it’s not like Donny was really president at the time…
At this point I’d be more surprised if it was NOT a Dem op.
Actually, I lean the other way. That the Op was run by the same people who run the democrats.
I don’t really see a distinction between “Democrats” and “the people who run the Democrats”. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is my version of pedantry designed to emphasize my cynical take that the DNC and RNC and our elected officials are in charge of diddly squat and the same forces control both of them (with heretics to the establishment uniparty like Trump being attacked and vilified by both sides. See Ron Paul, Bernie before his conversion and 3rd house, etc.)
I’m seriously thinking about writing a book on the history of genre romance. I mean, I’m not a complete loser at nonfiction.
(A friend at church who’s a therapist was telling me she was thinking about writing a pop-psych self-help book and casually said she wouldn’t know how to do that. Well, so I broke that down in about 3 minutes. Intro, 8-10 chapters on select theories/trends/fads/issues/concerns, sprinkle in denuded cases (interesting ones!), and afterword. Boom, done.)
How much money did you get for your advice? 🙂
For commercial success in a nonfiction history of genre romance, step 1 is to get a job at a large university teaching literature classes… preferably required underclass courses. Step 2 is to make your book required materials for the course.
Source: i went to college and paid through the nose for such books
I had one professor give us in cash his royalties for his book that was assigned to us by him. Apparently the authors are getting screwed as well.
When I was at BYU, we’d get reading assignments that you’d pick up at the copy shop, which were packets cobbled together by professors, which were snippets out of a variety of books. Pretty sure it wasn’t kosher, but nobody was looking to get rich off bad mimeographs run off bad mimeographs run off bad mimeographs.
Doc Fronk is right, my old man never made a dime from his textbooks.
If you teach 300-400 level classes you probably wrote a textbook or two just to make sure that what you want to cover is done how you want. But therein lies the problem: every other prof does the same thing, and they will use their text to teach too. So, to break even, the text book publishers charge a butt load.
Yeah, it is a racket.
my old man never made a dime from his textbooks
He didn’t make a new edition every year so that you gutted the used market for the his texts?
What racket the whole industry was during my college days.
What Mojeaux is describing is what my father ended up doing. I have a stack of university bookstore printed spiral bound books on pruning, types of fruit tree varietals, and so on, in a closet.
Unless you can get a text picked up by an adjunct teaching into and GE classes, or a JC instructor in need of a general overview, you will make zero money from that end of things, and not much even then. Making a pop sci/history/whatever crossover picked up by the NYT is where the real money is at.
“From Fabio to Farm Animals”

I’m going to TRY to keep an editorial voice out of it, but, I mean, it could veer into little twats raised on Tumblr writing badly.
“A couple staying at a spa hotel in Miami were left terrified after they allegedly heard a man hiding under their bed in the middle of the night.
A man and woman checked into the Provident Doral Hotel in Doral on Wednesday, only to discover Ritchel Calvaire, 25, allegedly hidden under their bed the following morning….

“Upon seeing another car with emergency flashers activated and stopped in the middle of the road who then pulled over, and in line with his military training, the Chairman slowly approached the vehicle to render aid,”
The term “military training” is getting quite the workout.
Paywalled – is this a case of “Democrats pounce!”?
No. In this case two road ragers got into it. And both have what I expect are fictional stories.
One is a connected local Team Red player. It’s 50/50 he actually did threaten the other driver, but my bet is the other driver threatened him first.
(If you kill JavaScript you can likely read the article.)
Based on my extensive viewing of police procedural shows, “military training”, apparently turns anyone who went thru Basic into Rambo. Even if that military training was a 3 year stint that ended 17 years ago. It also provides them with access to a network of gun shop owners who can provide any sort of explosives or arms no questions asked – for a price.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
That’s what the non-disclosure statement was for. Classified, man, I can’t discuss it.
My “military training” was reading the instructions printed on the inside of a large wall tent and teaching the other E4 and below how to put the damn things up.

Around 2,000 files containing child and animal pornography were found in her possession, as well as a Kalashnikov rifle, according to the police.

The Drive reached out to GM for comment, and a spokesperson confirmed that the 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8s will not feature a dipstick from the factory. Meanwhile, the 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder and 3.0-liter Duramax diesel will still include a dipstick.

Jeep did it first, actually. I am not a fan. A mechanical means to check oil is important.
How else do you check it?
dashboard light
You mean the light that doesn’t go on until it’s down two quarts?
Nah. BMW would charge a subscription for a dipstick.
The dipsticks are inside the cabin.

what is the official glibertarian position on soldering tips?
uncledoomer is not wrong.
Nonsense. I use my DIP and bent chisel tips all the time. I have a separate stand-alone tinning pot though, attaching the tinning pot to the iron is kinda gay.
We run Fanttik T1 Max cordless soldering irons for wiring strain gauges. They heat up and cool down quickly. So much easier than lugging the Weller around.
I don’t completely trust cordless soldering irons, but I gotta say that thing looks pretty sharp.
I’m definitely keeping my WE1010 for benchtop use though.
Keep a Weller tinned, and the sponge wet.
For the heavier duty stuff I user a brass shavings dish to clean and tin the tip.
Tipping is out of control …
Just the tipping?
Tri tipping?
Cow tipping?
I can’t solder to save my life.

“In this chart, we can see that the teen suicide rate rose steadily from 1950 until around 1990—an era during which nary a teen was checking Facebook, posting to Snapchat, or texting with friends. Then, throughout the ’90s and early aughts, the rate of teen suicide dropped. Its subsequent rise in the 2010s represents not some unprecedented climb but a return to levels seen in the 1970s and 1980s. (It has also, in recent years, begun once again to fall.)
Suicide isn’t the only index of teen suffering where we see such a pattern. Signs of depression and anxiety also crept up copiously in the second half of the 1900s. Then, for more than a decade, many measures of teen distress decreased. The pattern doesn’t map easily onto modern technology……
Common Core and similar standards reduced teacher autonomy, with teachers encouraged or required to teach the same lessons on the same day in the same way across school systems. This was combined with more statewide standardized tests, ostensibly to ensure accountability. The result has been more teaching to the test and less school time devoted to play, art, music, social studies, and anything else not being tested.
Gray points to multiple studies where young people cite school as a significant source of sadness, pressure, and anxiety. He also notes that youth hospital admissions for mental health emergencies drop sharply during summer months. Both findings could implicate the broader school environment (social issues, bullying, etc.) as much as educational styles and academic pressure. Either way, they bolster an explanation for teen distress that doesn’t involve screen time.”

Schools suck, but also the internet then was way different from the internet now.
Play is also a lot different. Going out to ride your bike is different than playing Bike Riding Simulator 4.
Correct. No child should have to listen to some jackass yell “push yourself Peloton, let’s go!” while riding their bike simulator.
Is there a correlation with a rise of supposedly trusted adults deliberately breaking their brains with trans and racist nonsense?
Yes, it’s both. Schools and the algorithms are pushing that shit.

Adam Sandler as the steroid dealer was my favorite one.

When I awoke, Love Story was on. The best part of that movie is Ryan Oneal ripping around Boston in his MGTD. It’s easy to chirp the tires when they’re only three inches wide. If that fool in California had been hooning around in one of those instead of that McClaren retardmobile he and that girl would still be alive.
The best part of Love Story:

Young Ryan O’Neal…swoon.
The best part of Love Story is it was based on Al and Tipper Gore.
Discussion upstream about the security perimeter at Butler:
What are the odds the cops carved out a pathway to their clubhouse to allow themselves to skip the inconvenience of going through checkpoints?
Sometimes the dumbest answer is the most likely.
“He was very kind, Catholic, and you want to hear something very funny? We started talking.
He thinks he knows why he might be getting targeted. He’s a Republican. He is a black Republican. He has conservative views.
He believes he might be getting targeted because of that. Because the media and the reporters, as you could see, they kind of have left views. He was in a juror panel with people of the Democratic Party.”

Unsurprising.
That woman is never going to get an honest trial now. Not when her guilt is a political decision.
“Massachusetts-based blogger Aidan Kearney was among the first to dox the lone holdout, who has been identified as Michael D. The blogger’s efforts, in part, allegedly forced the juror to go into hiding to escape threats and harassment from Clancy supporters, according to reports.
It didn’t take long for someone to launch a crowdfunding campaign in support of the holdout, who refused to convict the admitted three-time child killer. Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec, who praised Michael as a hero, shared the crowdfunding campaign and urged people to donate. It has since amassed $200,000, and donations continue to climb.
Kearney, who appears to be a Clancy supporter, called for Posobiec to be arrested and prosecuted for sharing the crowdfund, alleging “witness intimidation,” which is what Kearney was accused of doing when he doxed the holdout’s identity, as well as other personal information.”

Kid’s TV Used To Be Post Apocalyptic Van Life In A B…. Vehicle Built From A Garbage Truck
I actually watched this as kid. However, I totally forgot about the intelligent monkey. It very much had a Space1999 vibe.
https://www.theautopian.com/kids-tv-used-to-be-post-apocalyptic-van-life-in-a-badass-vehicle-built-from-a-garbage-truck/
I remember that one too. Not much about it other than the “van”.
For millions of years, Earth was fertile and rich. Then pollution and waste began to take their toll. Civilization fell into ruin.
This is the world of the 25th century. Only a handful of scientists remain, men who have vowed to rebuild what has been destroyed.
The kids who watched that show are working for EarthJustice and the Serra Club now.
As a kid I loved post-apocalyptic Sci-Fi. I preferred it to post-scarcity stuff like Star Trek.
No memory of that show.
#metoo until I noticed that almost all of it is some variation of klimate krisis krap.
The green propoganda in the 80s and 90s was nonstop in kids TV.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Wednesday she wants Canada to join the European Union as an associate member, as the North American nation is embroiled in a trade war with the U.S.
“I would like to work with you on opening the door for Canada to being the first associate member of the European Union,” von der Leyen told Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who was in attendance for her annual State of the Union address.
Attendees of the speech applauded her comments. Carney will address the European Parliament on Thursday in Strasbourg, France.
Take that, Mad King Donald.
Hasn’t that asshole done enough damage already?
“In a more dangerous and divided world, Canada is forging stronger relationships with trusted partners to build greater strategic autonomy, resilience, and sovereignty,” the release reads. “As a close, trusted partner with shared values, the Prime Minister underscored the EU’s central role in these efforts.”
Trump’s America is the greatest global threat to peace and freedom.
Europe is ready to come to the defense of Canada if Canada would just provide the lift capacity and forces.
“A Utah coroner has ruled that a Utah cheer mom drugged her daughter before fatally shooting her and turning the gun on herself inside a Las Vegas hotel room in February.
The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner released its findings to the Daily Mail. The office found that both 38-year-old Tawnia McGeehan and her daughter, 11-year-old Addi Smith, died of gunshot wounds to the head. The office ruled Smith’s death a homicide, and McGeehan’s death a suicide.
Investigators also revealed that the mother appeared to have drugged her daughter before killing her. A toxicology report uncovered a cocktail of drugs in the girl’s system, including Caffeine, Quetiapine, Diphenhydramine, gabapentin, and Lorazepam….
Investigators said that they had found a suicide note taped to a chair left outside their hotel room. The note read, “Call 911 before walking in, 2 dead bodies, one is an 11 year old.” Additional handwritten notes were found, including one that said Smith was “very medicated” and “slept cuddled” into her mother….
The toxicology report for McGeehan said that she had the same drugs in her bloodstream as her daughter, in addition to Citalopram, Eszopiclone and cannabinoids.”

Sounds like giving crazy women a massive cocktail of drugs doesn’t work.
Just watch 5 hours of coverage and you’ll be convinced the husband did it.
“Our plan, since I came into office, has been development and diversification,” the Canadian prime minister said in a video his office posted on YouTube. “Not denial, waiting to go back to some good old days, and not continued dependence.”
And they’ll do it all carbon free and without harming the earth mother by extracting resources from the ground.

“Core” curricula
Public universities in Texas have dropped hundreds of courses from their core curricula — or altogether — amid rising political pressure over the last two years.
Texas A&M University has removed 350 core listings across its system, many dealing with gender, race and other popular GOP targets. The University of Houston has nixed 133 classes from its core curriculum, and the University of Texas at Austin has dropped 113.
Professors say students are missing out on subjects relevant to their future careers, and some educators are moving on to private schools, where political winds are less fierce.
Students are required to take a select number of core classes in college in order to graduate. They typically choose from an array of courses to satisfy this requirement, but public universities are increasingly making optional selections that focus on women’s studies, LGBTQ issues, climate change and other left-leaning concepts, leading to the possibility of less student interest in the topics.
Hundreds of core classes? Really?
Wait- if you don’t force students into “Theory and Practice of Militant Queer Activism” and Oil is Theft and Murder” they don’t sign up for them?
Daily Ray of Sunshine
The combination of the conservative board, the new law and threatening remarks from state lawmakers has led universities to take a proactive approach on removing courses aligned with traditional liberal values, despite no official directive to do so.
That’s so precious.
That goalpost has been moved to the surface of Neptune.
Speaking of cutting down on fraud…
Only 80 of 300 applications for money from a Hennepin County fund were legitimate.
I’m stunned that they shut the program down after only doling out $500K of the $2M. You’d think that they would have found a way to spend all that money.
Texas A&M announced early this year it was eliminating its entire women’s and gender studies degree program. Texas State University completely removed a course called LGBTQ+ Communication Studies after backlash.
It’s the death of civil society, it is.
