Federal judges targeted nationwide by “pizza doxxings”

As federal judges endure a rise in threats, CBS News has learned that some jurists have faced strange, unnerving incidents in which an unknown person orders a pizza to their home address in an apparent attempt to menace them.

The top federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C., has called the incidents “pizza doxxing” — a spin on “doxxing,” in which somebody’s address or other personal information is maliciously made public, often as a form of intimidation.

>get free pizza
>complain about getting free pizza
>get more free pizza
>free pizza lifehack

The First-Person Industrial Complex

A few months ago, Natasha Chenier submitted a piece to Jezebel about her sexual relationship with her dad. She described meeting her biological father for the first time at age 19 and being gradually overtaken by lust for him. She recalled being so wracked by disgust and shame after the second time they had oral sex that she dry-heaved over the toilet in his bathroom. “He lay on his bed looking aloof during those episodes,” she wrote, “spouting empty assurances like, ‘You’ll be fine.’ ”

Writing that essay, she recalls now, was “terrifying.” But in a way, it felt inevitable, too. Chenier, now 27, had always kept a diligent journal and had been reading Jezebel for years. “I had this story I’d always wanted to tell,” she says, “and suddenly I felt like the world was ready.”

Jia Tolentino, Jezebel’s features editor, contemplated the draft. It was sure to be a blockbuster. It had graphic and devastating details, yet a matter-of-fact narrative voice. It would feed the Internet’s bottomless appetite for harrowing personal essays. But she tried to explain to Chenier just what airing this story could mean for her life: “Since she was new to writing, I just wanted to confirm—was she ready for this to be on her Google results forever?” Tolentino gave her the option of publishing under a pseudonym. But Chenier seemed confident that she knew what she was getting into. “She was sure she wanted to build her writing career around this,” Tolentino says. When Jezebel published the piece, titled “On Falling In and Out of Love With My Dad,” it ran with a bright red illustration of a bed between the words “I” and “Dad.” Of course, the essay went viral.

Why the goddamn hell of fuck would you tell anyone about this, much less the trauma-drunk monkeys reading Jezebel? Do you crave the adoration of idiots so badly that you let people know about the time you sucked-off your father?

A piece in Slate, about a piece in Jezebel, about a chick getting the ol’ Polish kielbasa from her father.

You know why I love this place? Because sometimes it makes me feel a little less disgusting, just by comparison.

    • Beau Knott

Anais Nin did this in her multi-volume biography decades ago. It’s not even remotely a new thing, nor any sort of “artistic” or “documentary” groundbreaking.
Oh brave new world, that has no past.

      • Sensei

Wow. I read that. I think for something in college.

Haven’t thought of that in decades.

      • EvilSheldon

Huh. I read a bunch of Nin’s stuff during my high school Henry Miller kick, but I must have missed that part…

      • Ted S.

Never read Anaïs Nin. Know of her from crossword puzzles.

      • Beau Knott

It was apparently pretty widely known, but not explicitly revealed until Incest and her unexpurgated diaries were published. The Wikipedia entry isn’t bad.

      • Beau Knott

Ted, her diaries are, I think, more interesting than her fiction. Both were perfect for college kids in the 60s and 70s (guilty).

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

My first wife had one of her books lying around when we were dating, I read it one night when I was without a book. Middling arty erotica. Not bad for the period it was written.

    • Evan from Evansville

      *cough*

I submitted a highly edited, gore-free Crest Quest to Slate, Salon and HuffPo. *shrug* Told them I had other pics, just used Skultris.

“and suddenly I felt like the world was ready.”

“Ready or not, here I come.”

  3. rhywun

I’m not seeing any pics of dad. 😠

    • EvilSheldon

Nope. But the picture of Dunny holding her pot-bellied pig (?) has an unintentionally hilarious caption.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

But the sad part is we all looked.

Why? Why did we do that?

  4. Pat

    • Ted S.

I was thinking of CBS going after the Lindsay Clancy juror.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

The only thing they have to fear, is deep dish itself!

        (and maybe pineapple. maybe)

  5. The Late P Brooks

I dare you to read this story and explain it to me

A Paris court has awarded €1 to Kim Kardashian for having been the victim of an armed robbery in the French capital in 2016, the amount of compensation she had asked for, according to a lawyer involved in the case.

Would it be too much to ask to include who was sued and who paid these damages (and why)?

    • Pat

The robbers became known in France as “les papys braqueurs”, or the grandpa robbers. Six of them were in their 60s and 70s when they were tried for armed robbery, kidnapping, gang association and other charges.

With time already served in pre-trial detention, none of those found guilty went back to prison. None of them appealed against the verdict.

Euros doing Euro shit, I guess.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

The retirement age in France is 65, Pat. You don’t expect the prison system to be above that, do you?

  6. The Late P Brooks

Lena Dunham could keep a tribe of cannibals alive for weeks.

    • Threedoor

How long would she keep Tres going?

      • Evan from Evansville

Outstanding question! We need a metric for how big an average Tres ‘meal’ is. I suggest we ‘weigh’ them in koalas. They’re cuddly!

      • Threedoor

        A metric?
        This is standard country boy!
We know Tres has the stones to do it.

  8. Pat

She described meeting her biological father for the first time at age 19 and being gradually overtaken by lust for him.

Not the first time that’s been described. There’s a “genetic sexual attraction” hypothesis within psychology that attempts to account for sexual attraction among close blood relatives separated at birth or early childhood upon being reunited.

  9. Aloysious

    Lena Dunham?

    You heartless monster.

    • Ted S.

You didn’t really think SF had a heart, did you?

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Sure, he keeps it in a jar on his desk.

    • The Other Kevin

He’s making up for the last few Wednesday stories being not as retch-inducing.

  10. Shpip

    1) Lena Dunham got married? To a man???

    b) He looks exactly like the type of guy who would marry Lena Dunham.

iii) Via surrogate. Because of course they did.

    • Aloysious

That dude is her future ex-husband.

      • Evan from Evansville

Her beard has a ‘beard,’ and I’m sorry. That’s in the valley of peak gay, which doesn’t exist, yes. But he’s looking in. Just LOOK at that jacket!! AND the eyebrows! And that look. Smug bastard. Alexander the Great can be smug. You, Sir or Miss, are not he.

    • bacon-magic

Would you want to impregnate that???

    • SugarFree

She had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis. And afterward said in an interview that the worst part of the experience is that she would never be able to have an abortion. (This is not a joke.)

      • Threedoor

        I member.

      • Evan from Evansville

        Wow.

      • Ted S.

She can still molest her kid sister.

    • Pope Jimbo

I’m happy that she at least pretended to get married to a guy before having a kid.

Call me old fashioned, but it bugs me when you see famous rich women have kids with no pretense of having a man in their life. Heck, I’d even accept having another woman in their life. I think it is important for a kid to have two parents.

When the rich and famous normalize having a kid all on their own, it makes the rubettes think that they can do it too.

      • rhywun

To be fair – the rich and famous have nannies to raise their kids, but they never talk about them.

      • Threedoor

She should be neither rich or famous.

  11. Aloysious

“Why the goddamn hell of fuck would you tell anyone about this…”

  12. The Late P Brooks

    By popular demand

Regarding the V-8 availability, Ford will offer its 5.0-liter engine across every model of the F-150 lineup, Eckert said. That includes having the option for a V-8 engine in the high-end King Ranch and Platinum models for the first time since the 2023 model year.

“We heard pretty loudly from both customers and dealers that even on those premium series, that they wanted the option to have a V-8 engine,” Eckert said.

Why would you need anything but a turbocharged V6 in your King Ranch? It’s not like you’d be out there at 4:30 in the morning plowing snow with it.

    • Sensei

Don’t you want to do your part for Ford’s CAFE numbers? Oh wait, Trump killed those penalties…

    • Pope Jimbo

I’d bet that at least 75% of F150’s have never even been on a gravel road.

I remember when a pickup was a cheap alternative to a car. They were way more inexpensive than a family sedan. (yes we wore onions on our belts then too).

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Four door trucks are the new four door sedan, pace Obamas EPA rules.

(and, yes, I own one, but it is 4WD and has seen a lot of dirt roads)

We sold the Raptor and got a one ton and a Suburban.

Oh man… a scene that rivals “What’s a Nubian?” for greatness.

  13. Grummun

From RCDean’s link in the lunchtime post, re: FBI investigation of Butler PA assassination attempt:

“From what we can see, it could be the worst FBI investigation ever performed.”

That is a title with a lot of contenders. *cough* Las Vegas *cough*

    • bacon-magic

      *cough* Waco *cough*
      *cough* Ruby Ridge *cough*

      The list is almost infinite.

      • R C Dean

Waco and Ruby Ridge were overt government ops. Not sure you can count them.

I had to laugh, though. I posted the link and said “hey, check out the second half of this article, about the FBI”. So of course the comments were all about the first half.

  15. The Other Kevin

“Being sent a pizza anonymously is intimidating. It’s especially intimidating and even terrifying when it’s a large thin crust meat lover’s with a side of fried mushrooms.”

    Were we?

      Thin crust.

What sorts of monsters do we have here?

  16. The Late P Brooks

    Good news, everyone!

Americans have collectively spent $107 billion more on gas and oil since the war began seven months ago, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday night. The estimate came from the Climate Solutions Lab at Brown University, which has been tracking the mounting costs.

Consumers have spent roughly $59 billion more on gas and $48.6 billion on diesel, according to the university’s tracker. That breaks down to an increased price tag of approximately $822.20 per U.S. household.

Those guys at the New Republic should be clapping their hands in glee because nasty filthy petrofuel is finally being priced at punitive demand-destroying levels.

No? They’re outraged because Trump? There’s that “two diametrically opposed concepts, simultaneously” thing again.

    • The Other Kevin

That is good news, our $5k checks will easily make up for it.

    • Sensei

Yes, but did aggregate demand actually decline?

    • RAHeinlein

Such bad statistics constantly breaking any alleged costs (tariffs, healthcare, fuel, etc.) down to per household when the reality is far more complicated.

It would be interesting to see a sales-in-gallons number. I would expect a small decline in marginal sales.

Mrs. TOK is watching her favorite musical in the other room. I’m enjoying Yul Brynner’s booming voice. Et cetera et cetera.

    • Shpip

The last time I was in the UK, I met a fellow who knew Brynner personally. He told me two things I didn’t know:

      1) The actor was a massive Liverpool FC fan.

      2) He had an aversion to discretionary scents on his skin.

That’s right — Yul never wore cologne.

      • Chipping Pioneer

        Labour Day was last week.

      • Pope Jimbo

I was going to make a snide comment about the reason for #2 above is a neet story, but when I was looking for a link to neet, I ran across this. Definitely not the old stuff I remembered.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET (UG) (pronunciation: “neat”), formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an Indian nationwide entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission in undergraduate medical programs. As a mandatory exam for admission in medical programs, it is the largest exam in India in terms of number of applicants.

p.s. Neet (hair removal) changed its name to Veet. In case any overly hirsute Glibs were looking.

The Brothers Karamazov is not a musical, despite the presence of William Shatner in the cast.

    • Mojeaux

In one of my books, I titled a chapter “Everything But Yul Brynner.” My publishing partner/editor tagged me on Twitter. WTF? I said, “Watch.”

I tweeted out, “Reference, please. Everything But Yul Brynner.”

The replies came flooding in. He had no clue (but he’s quite a bit younger than I am).

      • Shpip

He was playing checkers while you were playing Chess.

      • Mojeaux

The italics kinda step on the joke.

  20. Fourscore

I drive so little that the post office lady has a wellness check done on me .

Not really but she has commented on my scarcity. We hardly get any thing that isn’t total junk.

    • Threedoor

I not even old school chain mail anymore?

    • Pope Jimbo

Fourscore, it sounds like the Post Office lady has a crush on you.

If you paid more attention, you’d have heard that she was talking about your male junk, not junk mail. Mrs. Fourscore should be careful.

I’ll help you figure this out when we see you at Honey Harvest this weekend.

TOK, that might be a way to make some quick money. Go around suing pr0n shops for not having ADA compliant glory holes. Settle out of court. The ADA has been used to extort more for less before.

    • Pope Jimbo

      Now I’m confused.

      Lena 1 = Lena Dunham.

Lena 2 = the gay communist lover who is now Mamdami’s assisstant (rhywun linked to above)

Which Lena are you talking about?

      • R.J.

Dunham. I am in a terrible low signal area, so it takes ten minutes to upload a comment so apologies in advance.

    • rhywun

      Now I can’t unsee it.

  22. UnCivilServant

I stopped on my way to torment GT for a few hours then made it to Indianapolis. For some reason, Indiana seems to be trying to rid themselves of roads. At least, that’s the best explaination I can give for the amount of pavement that was torn up along the route.

    • Grummun

That stretch of I-70 from the Ohio border is a real treat.

      • Gender Traitor

I’m convinced perpetual highway reconstruction is a state jobs program. “Wander Indiana” because you were routed onto a detour and never directed back to the interstate.

      • rhywun

I am reminded of I-81 in PA. I went up and down the 50 miles or so between NY and Scranton seven or eight times over the last three years and it was mostly torn up the entire time.

    • Threedoor

A buddy of mine works for a county road department in Indiana.

From what he’s told me about his job your statement rings true.

    • RAHeinlein

We are heading East on that route in a couple weeks – wretched.

How was Cleveland? We are thinking of a stop-over for a day or two if worth it.

      • UnCivilServant

My opinion of Cleveland is mixed. It’s okay, but if it weren’t on the road out of New York, I’d not think twice about not going back. Mister Ilium resides in the area and can give better recommendations if you want to visit rather than just overnight.

My boss had to log off because she was sick. My coworker has Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. Also, she is resigning as of next Friday.

Now, backstory: We have a shared inbox AND Salesforce, which is a work in progress, so some things go here and some things go there and it’s really hit or miss—then add 3 people just reacting to what comes in as fast as possible.

Besides my coworker leaving, my boss isn’t really supposed to be doing this job. She’s training me.

    ANYWAY.

It is sooo nice to work without anybody else’s fingers in the inbox. I’m new, so it takes me longer, but shit, I’m just happy as a clam without having to figure out what other people are doing. WHICH MEANS maybe my boss can go back to just doing her job and leave me to it.
