Cooler weather now prevails, so tomato season is officially over. This little beauty was part of the last harvest yesterday. I thought I was going to have half the yield I had last year, but it was just delayed three weeks. 24 quarts of sauce is equivalent to 84 pounds of tomatoes. Next year, I plant one San Marzano instead of two. This is how they look at the end of the season.

As a former public sector union member, you can fuck right off.

Shocked face, still broken.

Petulant, but I don’t disagree.

I think I like this.

The Brits are there, let them fucking do it.

I’m glad I got to visit France before it became Francistan.

A bit of good news that has saved me $400 and a pile of paperwork.

You know it’s bad when you’ve lost CNN.

Okay, that’s it for me. Time to process the last of the tomatoes. Peace out, Glibbies.

“EPA workers lost union representation in disciplinary proceedings, the ability to challenge unfair treatment through independent grievance and arbitration proceedings and first-of-its-kind protections for employees who raise concerns about scientific misconduct or political interference.

In short, an entire workforce lost its rights.”

Stop! I can only get so hard!

    • Spudalicious

That’s funny. Under Biden and Obama, they were hiding scientific misconduct and political interference.

        Insert my favorite excuse.

        “That’s different”

I lost control of my tomato plants again this year. Shocking. At least I’m consistent. Gave a bucket full to my brother, with another smaller bucket of assorted peppers.

Next spring, I’m going to build a freestanding trellis out of posts and rails so I can pick from both sides.

Strange to me, cantaloupe vines climbed the fence this year, and the melons were the best I’ve ever grown.

    • Threedoor

      More sun on the fence?

      • Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

Maybe. I’ll do something similar next year, and see what happens.

      • Spudalicious

I grow cucumbers in a tomato cage.

      • Threedoor

My mom used to grow potatos in a tomato cage as well. Stack up two tires, fill them with dirt and plant in that with the cage. I’m assuming the tires were to make it easier to get the spuds out rather than to have to dig deep she could get my dad to lift the tires off. In hindsite I’m surprised he never cut the sidewalls out of them to make it easier yet.

      • Spudalicious

Potatoes in tires is a great idea. Instead of mounding, you add another tire and soil. Makes harvest easier too.

Sorry, Donald. They’re just not that into you. You kind of have to be a raging antisemite to get the award these days.

  4. Threedoor

I’ll be putting my shorty Origin 12 barrel on tomorrow.

I’ll have to transfer over the adaptor for the can but at least I used blue locktite and not red like a dummy.

So what are you so afraid of?

    • J. Frank Parnell

A resurfaced 2020 article said he was embarrassed by his American citizenship while attending the posh school, having to explain to people in the United Arab Emirates that “no, I’m not a Trump supporter.”

“Generally speaking, ‘American’ over here is synonymous with ‘Trump,’ which is synonymous with a whole bunch of other words that I won’t mention,

Dude’s a “Free Palestine” t-shirt away from the left turning on Jane Doe.

      • J. Frank Parnell

he was taking a gap year in Thailand to “find himself some ladyboys”

        Fixed.

      • rhywun

I couldn’t dream up a more stereotypical nepo-baby Ivy League frat boy if I tried. Dude is a walking parody.

      • Chafed

Maybe he can tell us how to translate MMF threesome into Arabic and the locals use to describe it.

Despite Trump’s attempts to protect the misrepresented history of Christopher Columbus, Thomas, who would become the first Black and Native American from Oklahoma if elected on Nov. 3, says the federal holiday honoring the controversial Italian explorer doesn’t change the facts.

“It’s still Indigenous Peoples’ Day,” Thomas said of the holiday that was created to rebrand Columbus Day by putting the focus back on the histories of indigenous people and their cultures. It is celebrated in several states, cities, and localities.

“We always celebrate our Indigenous people on that day…if [Columbus] hadn’t come over here, then we wouldn’t have had half of the issues that we have now,” said Thomas, referring to land displacement, extreme poverty, and the loss of cultural rights and sovereignty.

    ——-

Calling out what she sees as a white supremacist agenda, Thomas told theGrio that white people “historically caused great harm to marginalized communities,” adding, “They try to play the superhero [and] they don’t want to be held accountable for the actions of their ancestors.” However, she acknowledged that there are also white allies and other communities of color who are coming together to push back against the whitewashing of indigenous history.

Speaking to the grievance that some white people may feel about confronting the true history of colonization in the U.S., Thomas said, “We just want them to be able to teach and be teachable, and not repeat history.” She said the recent actions by the Trump administration show that some “still want the reign of terror.”

Black and indigenous people can’t catch a break in this shithole country. Marginalized, downtrodden, locked out of civil society.

    Just look at her

Black as the ace of spades.

    • rhywun

Where is this reign of terror? I want to sign up.

Apropos to nothing: Why the fuck am I seeing congressional candidates’ commercials from all over the country when watching sports in Northwestern Missouri? Sure, they’ve always showed political ads during them but at least they were local. National broadcast or not.

    • RAHeinlein

How do you think the Dems get so many votes?

    • DEG

I saw a Talarico ad on the TV at the gym today.

      • Gender Traitor

There was at least one during the Aggie/Mizzou game. The one I remember for sure was anti.

      • Trigger Hippie

Oh, he was all over the Texas vs Oklahoma game.

    • rhywun

I’m not getting a lot of political ads. The ones that sneak in between all the Medicare and Shriners commercials all seem to be local.

    From the AP:

Groups that support gun restrictions decried the judge’s ruling and the Justice Department’s decision to let it stand as reckless and argued that the regulations are important for public safety.

In a statement on Friday, John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, said Cekada had embraced the “smash-and-grab lawlessness of the Trump administration by attempting to pick and choose which federal gun laws he enforces.”

    Never saw that coming.

    • Trigger Hippie

The “smash and grab lawlessness” the left have cultivated over the decade at the street level kinda make the easement of some restrictions for law abiding citizens seem all the more reasonable.

    • Threedoor

The number of unpapered cans, SBRs, SBSs, and FRTs on the market in the next two years are going to overwhelm the system if they ever try to roll back the rules.

      The NFA is dead.

It’s like the republic after the 17th amendment. It’s there on paper but it will never be again.

I saw the The Thing was midway so I put it on. So, no real background knowledge, I show up at the part where there arguing about who got some sort of key. Everyone swears they didn’t do it and that’s it. Then I walk the dog.

I come back, and Dave Chappelle says he cut someone loose, MacGrady is mentioned and his name on a bit of a torn jacket. Then the guy (I presume) comes back and has the TNT and a flare to scare everyone back. For, well. *shrug*

Then the chest of a ‘dying body’ bites the doc’s arms off. Huh. I am intrigued, I’ll say. Good opening before baseball.

    • rhywun

This being October, you will probably come across it a few more times. Assuming this is the 1982 version you’re describing, it’s well worth watching the whole thing.

    • UnCivilServant

Dude – it’s better if you watch it from the beginning and don’t skip around.

    ::Sad Robot::

So, I was able to get single material prints printed and shipped off to Kinnath. I set up an 8 material print and now the nozzle cleaning isn’t working and it drags little blobs of plastic into the print – which screws over the print especiall when the cool and the nozzle dislodges part of the object when it hits them passing through what should be thin air.

I have to figure out what’s wrong with the nozzle cleaning calibration.

    😭

I just wanted to print pretty plastic pieces.

Unrelated, I saw an article about people freaking out over the “About You” page Amazon rolled out that shows you what its AI has inferred about you and gives you the option of correcting it.

One of the people quoted was freaking out because the AI said “Probably has a flat butt”.

I looked at the page, being a long time Amazon customer. It was disappointingly droll. There were three categories of information sources – From my account information (“Probably lives in [Delivery address town]”), from my purchase history, and from reviews I wrote. It made no inferrences beyond the blitheringly obvious. I could figure out exactly where the computer got its source for all of the information on that page.

This tells me that the woman who freaked out almost certainly put a remark in a review she posted saying she had a plank-like posterior, forgot about it, then freaked when the computer scraped it.

    • rhywun

I looked at mine too. Yeah, all obvious stuff.

      • Sean

Checked mine. Nothing surprising or insightful. Very obvious.

    • Threedoor

Ours makes us sound way cooler than we are.

Like we’re homesteading mountain climbing homeschoolers who grow a huge garden every year and have a pool.

They got one of those things right.

“Alanis Morissette announces first holiday album — The 14-track record, “Good Weather for Immaculate Conception” mixes seasonal classics, two original songs, and guest appearances by Steve Martin and Bradi Carlile.”

The thing UCS, and the rest of the world, really want for the holidays. I like Steve Martin and he’s a serious musician. Why/How did this happen? Well. Hmm. I have nothing against her, but me no knowy.

    • Threedoor

My 90s brain refuses to acknowledge these words together.

      • Threedoor

Also I’ve never heard of this Bradi Carlile person.
