Tuesday Morning Links

The Bills beat the Rams in a game where there seemed to be no defense. The Indians topped the Rays in game 1 of the ALCS. And the Brewers overcame some defensive sloppiness to power by the Dodgers and take a 2-0 series lead in the NLCS. The Flyers are off to the franchise’s worst start ever. And UCL games are back on tap today and tomorrow in Europe. And that’s all I’ve got for sports.

This is absolute nonsense. But pretty typical narrative-building, if I’m being honest. If the French are buying this, they’re even dumber than I thought.

Good. Get her out of here. I don’t even care if they have to manufacture evidence. Then repeat the process for every shithead commie in the country. Even the ones who were born here. I don’t care anymore, I want them gone.

Has this guy got a turd in his pocket? Oh, wait. He’s got the US military. Because without it, I doubt he’d be flapping his gums like this.

Did it ever really go away? We’d like to think so, but I don’t think it ever did.

I’ll believe it when I see it. And even as bad as things have gotten, I don’t expect to see it.

Was the password “GUEST?” I wouldn’t be surprised. Also, why are they networked at a level where that many stores could be impacted at once? Sounds pretty stupid to me.

Really tackling the important stuff. I’m curious how this judge is even in a position to manage the maintenance schedule at federal property. What’s next, gonna tell them during which hours they’re allowed to cut the grass?

I find this hard to believe. But I wish Labour would think it’s real and call a snap election.

This is good stuff. Glad they weren’t stolen Jackson Pollocks. Then the recovery would have made me sad.

Well of course it’s impossible. Because the government can’t fix anything and there’s no way this guy will let the free market do what it does.

Here we go. Simply beautiful. And this one is as well. Enjoy them both.

And enjoy this lovely Tuesday, dear friends.

“Did it ever really go away?”

    No, it didn’t.

  2. DEG

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C., home was the target of a raid early Monday morning by ICE’s investigations unit.

Sources say the investigation centers on Omar’s immigration paperwork. The documents in question date back to Omar’s childhood, involving paperwork completed by her late father when she was a child.

Blah blah blah. More talk. Deport her or shut the fuck up.

    • sloopyinca

“Sources say” is usually bullshit. But whatever it was, it was signed off on by a judge. And all four judges there were appointed by a Dem president.

      • DEG

I’m standing by what I said.

Blah blah blah. Call me when she’s deported, until then it’s all talk.

      • EvilSheldon

Getting a home search warrant for a media-darling Dem politician, from a Dem judge, is interesting.

I also expect nothing to come of it, because if the Trump administration has taught me anything it is to ruthlessly manage my expectations.

That said…you normally don’t place a bet that big without first dealing yourself a pretty good hand.

So you are not looking for legal proceedings to be followed, you just want 70 plus years of marxist globalism to be rolled back overnight?

      • EvilSheldon

Of course I want 70 plus years of marxist globalism to be rolled back overnight.

I also want a magical pet dragon that shits 9mm ammo.

9mm? Dragons are old. Maybe 45-70?

      • DEG

9mm? Dragons are old. Maybe 45-70?

Continuing from last night’s BECMI talk, BECMI had dragon aging rules. Companion set or was it in the Rules Cyclopedia? I can’t remember.

So maybe we have the dragon shitting different ammunition as it ages.

      What DEG said.

The rumor I heard was that Omar was automatically naturalized when her parents were because she was (supposedly) 17. But her real age is a year older, meaning, I suppose, she was never naturalized.

Why they couldn’t get her actual birth documents from Somalia, I have no idea. Possibly that shithole doesn’t keep such records at all, or they were destroyed in an outbreak of shitholism.

      • slumbrew

        “Accidentally” destroyed in Somalia.

      • Common Tater

Even if they could produce records, would you believe them? Fraud is their national pastime.

The birthdate is clearly stated on her Somali Burth Cetfiiate.

      • slumbrew

        *golf clap for LAH*

      • Pope Jimbo

The other rumor I have heard for years is that her family isn’t really related to the Omars.

The Omar family won the lottery and got a bunch of visas to come to the US as refugees. Being Somalis, they decided to sell some of those visas to other people instead of wasting them all on their real family. Ilhan’s dad purchased those visas and brought part of his family to the US.

In 1995, Ilhan entered the United States as a fraudulent member of the “Omar” family.

That is not her family. The Omar family is a second, unrelated family which was being granted asylum by the United States. The Omars allowed Ilhan, her genetic sister Sahra, and her genetic father Nur Said to use false names to apply for asylum as members of the Omar family.

Ilhan’s genetic family split up at this time. The above three received asylum in the United States, while Ilhan’s three other siblings — using their real names — managed to get asylum in the United Kingdom.

Ilhan Abdullahi Omar’s name, before applying for asylum, was Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

Her father’s name before applying for asylum was Nur Said Elmi Mohamed. Her sister Sahra Noor’s name before applying for asylum was Sahra Nur Said Elmi. Her three siblings who were granted asylum by the United Kingdom are Leila Nur Said Elmi, Mohamed Nur Said Elmi, and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

This is a convoluted story and hard to follow. Probably why it has never gotten the attention of brother-marrying.

    • DrOtto

She quite blatantly and obviously committed immigration fraud at the time according to what I had seen in the alternative media, while the mainstream media said absolutely nothing aboutnit as they were rooting for her, but my guess is, some judge somewhere is going to excuse it all under the FYTW clause and let her stay and stay in power.

First, Plaintiffs are likely to succeed in showing that Defendants are segmenting their implementation of the Washington National plan and thereby circumventing their NEPA 2 Case 1:26-cv-00477-ACR Document 76 Filed 10/11/26 Page 3 of 4 obligations. 42 U.S.C. § 4332. Plaintiffs also are likely to succeed in showing that Plaintiffs have standing and that Defendants’ challenged actions are final agency action reviewable under the APA. 5 U.S.C. § 702. Second, Plaintiffs are likely to suffer irreparable harm without temporary relief. Without relief, Defendants will further alter permanently the land, landscape, trees, setting, and other elements of the human environment in both visible and unseeable ways. Third, the balance of equities and public interest both favor issuing a TRO.

So they don’t have standing as yet, but honest your honor, we will show that we do! I hope the irreparable harm they suffer without this order includes loss of life.

One benefit, created to help those with disabilities be more mobile, allows people to give up part of their welfare cash handout in return for a new car lease every three years. It now accounts for around one in every seven new car sales in the U.K. Among those who got new cars last year: 40 people whose primary medical condition was tennis elbow, 50 with wheat intolerance and 320 with dyslexia, according to government figures.

Some seven million people—more than 10% of the population—now claim at least one or more sickness or disability benefits. The numbers are growing fastest among working-age people who should be powering the country’s economy, surging more than 60% in the past six years to 4.7 million from 2.9 million in 2019.

I wonder what the percentage and distribution is here in the ‘States? (ETA: ChatGPT estimates between 4-6%, but that doesn’t include Social Security or Medicare, so the actual percentage is likely much higher.)

To draw a related distinction – the riots in France are not at core about schools, or even about military-age Islamic males doing what they do best. They are, at core, about the French economy being in slow-motion collapse. As I’ve said before, politics is downstream of culture, and culture is downstream of economics.

But then we’re also wiring up all our critical power and water infrastructure, so why not the grocery store too, its not like people need to eat. *rolls eyes*

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

those are the typical reasons, and they will use something like Metasys to manage all of the valves, check pressure, and so on. No one at the store level has (at least in the states) the license to work on a Refer system, let alone the skills. So, again here at least, it will be off loaded to an HVAC/R company, who will be set up to handle a lot of it online, because of course.

Back in the early ’00s (last time I knew the stat), a typical restaurant cooler would have $20K worth of food stored in it. A system that can catch a rising temp and alert someone can save an owner a lot of money.

So yes, having a fridge that can send alerts out is definitely worth it.

Should it also be able to accept incoming requests? I’d say yes, but with caveats.

The reason I say yes, is because being able to poll local data from a fridge remotely can be very useful to a service tech. You can get a much cheaper service contract if the HVAC company can remotely manage units. A tech who can remotely connect to a fridge and run diagnostics can show up with the correct part to fix a problem in his van. It isn’t just service companies either. A small group at Corporate can also use remote telemetry data to manage all the fridges in a consistent manner. They don’t have to try to talk a local assistant manager through the process of setting up a fridge.

Therein lies the rub. Local installation of any IoT solution is always the most difficult part. Your product might be great, but if the local store doesn’t have a firewall installed, or they don’t set up the device with some sort of security you are going to have issues like the one linked to the store.

The problem is that the installation is being done by guys who are not IT experts. They can plug things in and do some rudimentary testing, but you are really at their mercy to do it correctly. Most IoT devices have no display, so that complicates things. No way to easily verify that things are configured correctly.

Most IoT rollouts start with plans to install the devices correctly. Then the shit hits the fan. Everything is too hard. Shit is installed and it doesn’t work. Lots of meetings to discuss why this is. The solution is to “simplify” the installation. That means cutting back on security. Managing SSH keys to secure communication is way too hard, so that has to go. Why not ship devices with the communications completely open? Once the connection is made, then you can reset passwords and add firewall rules. (Guess what never gets done?)

Rollouts are the Shipyard of Wrecks when it comes to IoT projects. I’ll bet that all those stores in Europe took shortcuts during installation just to get things to work.

Trump’s second term offers revealing examples of how this works. His immigration agenda has faced the resistance one expects from Democrats, including mass protests and federal lawsuits. Yet the greatest obstacles to his efforts to restrict immigration have not come from efforts to protect migrants themselves. Instead, they have come from federal elected officials in both parties seeking to protect the industries, labor markets, and government programs that have grown dependent on their presence.

Not a bad explanation really, just infuriating in its own way.

“Actress Selma Blair missed multiple doses of a “powerful” medication and hit her head before a wild midair meltdown on Sunday night aboard a JFK-bound flight, her lawyers claimed….

Blair allegedly removed her leg from stretcher straps and repeatedly kicked a Port Authority Police Officer in the face, neck and chest as she was being hauled away in an ambulance from JFK Airport Terminal 4 on Sunday night, according to her criminal complaint.

She then kicked a registered nurse at Jamaica Hospital in the chest while she was transporting Blair for more medical treatment, the complaint alleged….

Before touching down in the Big Apple, Blair flew off the handle, allegedly slugging one flight attendant and biting a second.

The two crew members were seriously injured, and one had to be hospitalized, police said.”

Proving you can’t have peak corruption in NJ.

The lawsuit alleges that the store went to every available labor organization it could find, but none would challenge the UFCW. Orduña argues that the situation creates an effective monopoly that is backed by cannabis regulators who, under the law, will not renew the license of an operator that does not have a peace agreement with a union.

“New Jersey’s mandate doesn’t protect workers; it creates a state-sponsored cartel that holds minority and veteran entrepreneurs hostage,” Orduña said.
