I Got Nothing

by | Nov 2, 2026 | I Am Lame | 229 comments

Seriously, no links, no smart comments, nothing. I do have a bunch of assignments to grade which is what I will spend my morning do.

Have a great start to your week Glibs!

I did come up with some music, however.

    Nuffin? You did Nuffin???

  2. Ted S.

You could have just re-uploaded Friday’s links 😉

    • Raven Nation

      Unfortunately, I torched that post.

      • Ted S.

See, I write all my blog posts in a text editor and save them to my local drive. 😛

      • Tonio

Oh, I should have undeleted it (I can do that!) and written to you. Sorry for all the confusion about Friday. I’ve been trying to bring the regular linksters in line, but it’s like herding cats.

      • Raven Nation

Yeah, I normally draft them in a Word doc, but it was kind of a rush on Friday so…

      • Common Tater

        “but it’s like herding cats”

        Will this do, Tonio?

      • Tonio

That was meant for Alex, obvs, but thanks for stepping up.

Heard an interview with the SOB leader of the Aussie Greens party who tried to blame the attack on his fellow MP on social media and on poverty.

Come on ted S! You know they loot sneakers, electronics, and high couture items cause they are poor and hungry….. Everybody knows the nutritional value of those things a re YUGE…

“Laura Caron — a 36-year-old former 5th grade teacher — has pleaded guilty to one of the charges against her … after being accused of sexually assaulting a student and having his baby….

Prosecutors claimed the abuse lasted for 4 years … and a probable cause affidavit obtained by the outlet claimed she became pregnant with and gave birth to his child.

She was 27 at the time … he was only 13.”

A rape victim has to pay for the kid? Tell me that’s not real.

      • UnCivilServant

@rhy – it has happened before. Teenaged fathers from a relationship with older abusers have been on the hook. The law as written only cares about paternity. And sometimes not even that. (non-biological fathers accused of being the child’s father have been on the hook even after DNA tests).

      • Not Adahn

It’s about what’s in the child’s best interest. Which is more money, obvs.

“Not only did Baltimore lose Lamar Jackson on the first snap of Sunday’s 36-10 loss to the Bills, but the Ravens also saw backup Tyler Huntley exit the game with a toe injury after only a handful of plays under center.

It was later revealed that Huntley was believed to be dealing with turf toe, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter….

Rookie Joe Fagnano came into the game for the pair of injured QBs and went 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception.”

Bullshit you can’t call him Fag Nano on the internet.

    • Oy the Billy-Bumbler

Turf toe? I saw the play where Huntley was injured. A 300# lineman landed on his foot when the toe were pointed to the ground. I’m surprised there are any unbroken bones in that foot.

So, we all understand that progressivism is a destructive cult, right? People who are indoctrinated into a cult are easy to spin up into antisocial violence.

      • AlexinCT

Why do you think the left has labeled everyone that will not do the cult thing as fascists and nazis at the same time they have made Hitler the ONLY bad guy in history by whitewashing all the marxist butchers they worship? No, not because they actually believe these people are nazis and fascists, but because they have successfully labeled them that, and told their cattle those are the bad guys, which will allow the large swatch of those tools with sever mental disorders justify violence.

“A prominent California university is severing ties with its nearly century-old mascot, pulling the pin on a 92-year-old tradition following student backlash over colonial history.

The University of San Francisco announced Friday that “The Don” — a costumed figure sporting a pencil mustache and a green Spanish-style hat that has patrolled the sidelines since 1932 — will officially step aside at the start of the spring 2027 semester…

The mascot originally honored Don Francisco de Haro, the first mayor of Yerba Buena before it became San Francisco.

While the Spanish honorific translates to “of noble origin,” the figure sparked widespread debate in 2022 when USF’s student government passed a formal resolution demanding its removal, arguing the character symbolized the exploitation and subjugation of California’s Indigenous people.”

Did the Eu stop buying Russian energy since the war started? Cause they are now complaining about the US while they financed Russia all along and screamed at Trump for not sacrificing Americans to protect them..

      • rhywun

They did not stop buying from what I have heard.

I suspect there is a disconnect between the proles who want affordable energy and the elites who want war.

      • Plinker762

Looks like Russian LNG has dropped from about 50% of EU gas imports to about 15%. US supply has gone from 5% to 25% of imported LNG into Europe.

      • UnCivilServant

There’s a 15% of imports no longer from Russia that is coming from somewhere else – who’s filling that gap?

  11. Evan from Evansville

Well, I’m feeling much better and my headache’s gone, a massive improvement. I have tomorrow off, though not for voting, which coulda been 6hrs of free PTO, oddly enough. I hope to casually let them know about my epileptic Sunday and keep things a little smaller, today.

Best guess: The underweight issue, particularly with glucose and sugar, is a very legit causal factor. It apparently lowers the ‘seizure threshold’ and that seems the trap I sorta fell into. Not a full seizure, but ‘absence seizures’ are unpleasant in their own smaller way

Feeling pretty comfortable about today, especially if my ‘pep’ talk with my Team person makes sense to ’em. Up ‘n atom!

The whole “mostly peaceful” riots thing reminds me of the saying that you can add a spoonful of ice cream to a bucket of shit, and you still have a bucket of shit, but if you add a spoonful of shit to a bucket of ice cream, you will now have a bucket of shit.

You can have a thousand peaceful protesters, but a couple dozen throwing molotovs and breaking windows means you now have a violent riot.

    • R C Dean

Put another way, if 23 hours, fifty-nine minutes, and thirty seconds of your day is completely ordinary, but you get jumped and curb stomped for thirty seconds, would you say you had a peaceful day?

      • UnCivilServant

Depends when the attack happens. If it were at night, the day part of the day might have been peaceful but I’d have had an awful night.

      • Sensei

At a large event people will get rowdy. So zero violence is unlikely. Something like the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade is going to have arrests and possibly even property damage.

I think “flames” qualifies as a general problem, however. But I can see somebody lighting a trash can on fire at the Macy’s parade.

But your broader point still stands.

      • Ownbestenemy

Rational persons know the right answer.

Lefties would have to run it through their flowchart to determine if outrage is warranted and what the narrative is and will die on that hill before re-examining their position.

Righties also seem to have a flowchart, albeit, much more streamlined in outrage response and tend to have at least a path to rational answer.

      • juris imprudent

        will die on that hill

Eh, you mean whine and cry incessantly? Throw a 3 yo’s temper tantrum? They aren’t about to actually risk their own life on that hill.

      • trshmnstr

But I can see somebody lighting a trash can on fire at the Macy’s parade.

The reaction is where the difference occurs. At the macys parade, a burning trash can would be a major disruption and make the news. At an average leftist “peaceful protest”, a burning trash can is ambiance.

It’s not the existence of the violence, it’s the casual acceptance of it.

      • EvilSheldon

If the left casually accepts violence (and they do!) then there should be no problem with using the Israeli riot control protocol – deploy two-man sniper teams to identify the CoGs at the riot and neutralize them with a silenced .22LR rifle shot through the lung.

    • rhywun

Yeah, the MSM is deliberately doing this because they support the rioting.

      • PieInTheSky

        Seems above average.

The Dems don’t need to worry: Bruce Springsteen has endorsed El-Sayed writing:

“Dr. El-Sayed is a fighter for our American Constitution, he’s a fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti-American leadership currently in the White House. That’s why I’m in his corner 100%.”

I didn’t know this guy was a doctor. To be fair, he’s slightly better credentialed than Dr. Jill. But sheesh, invoking credentials is a little tiresome.

      • UnCivilServant

Dr Commu-Jihadi passed medical school but failed board certification. He doesn’t have a medical license. If he treated patients, it’d be a crime.

The ER could have been a freestanding ER or one of those diagnosis only ERs. Both are technically licensed as hospitals, but transfer every patient as soon as they can.

      • Common Tater

Only if it has tomato sauce.

Chicken Parmesan sandwiches are usually deep fried chicken cutlets, chicken cheesesteaks would use thinly sliced/shredded chicken cooked quickly on a flat top.

I saw that. Really curious as to what the heck happened to cause that.

  16. UnCivilServant

Yesterday while buying bacon, I saw an abomination – pumpkin spice bacon. 😱🎃🥓

I did not buy it. I got normal bacon.

    • Ownbestenemy

Hmm. Depends on what they determine to be pumpkin spice. Cause a lot of those spices can easily go into bacon-making and be extremely tasty.

      • UnCivilServant

If they used the spice names instead of using that marketing name, I might be less horrified.

      • Nephilium

Nearly every meat stand at the West Side Market that has bacon does a Christmas Ale bacon this time of year. Brown sugar, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and the like.

At least here, the Great Lakes Christmas Ale branding is stronger than pumpkin spice when it comes to meat.

  18. Not Adahn

I had a doorknocker interrupt my FO4 playing yesterday.

Apparently I did the quests in the wrong order — cleared out The Mechanist before doing the Silver Shadow. The latter was pretty darn fun, the former kind of a pointless slog. I’ve got another settlement location, but completely empty and a PITA to get around in. Woo Hoo. Vault 88 somehow is thriving with a bumper crop of crops growing underground. Indoor corn is totally a thing.

I need to do some modding. Right now my best base layer + best chest armor shows up on camera as being bare-chested which looks absolutely retarded.

    • Sean

I dump a lot of my supplies at the Mechanist Lair. No chance of attacks.

Also, a cooler full of excess tatos, cuz the settlers will eat them up first. Bastards.

You need to get the Railroad quests done so you can unlock ballistic weave.

      • Not Adahn

I’ve done like only two or three quests in the main storyline. I remember from Skyrim that the main questline moots most of the sidequests and I also remember that the Dragonborn DLC pretty much fucked everything up until you cleared it, so when robots started attacking I made sure to close that out. I am not starting the Nukaworld content for the same reason.

The dude that kidnapped my kid having a “you can’t use VATS” ability sucked donkey dick. I hope that’s not common. Queueing up five killshots and letting them happen automatically is the whole reason behind my build.

From my very limited exposure to both Good Neighbor > Diamond City.

      • UnCivilServant

I avoid Diamond City as much as I can. Just dumping unscrappable cap fodder on the market, or quest-mandated visits.

      • R C Dean

        Nukaworld is very much standalone.

Mods can def enhance the experience.

Who are you running as your companion so far?

I would say you’re not missing much by doing the Mechanist first. You get the ability to build robots, which can be very useful although resource intensive. My couriers from one settlement to the other were all jacked sentry bots. I could only afford it because I cheated on my supplies via a mod – the cheat terminal lets you just add steel, adhesive, whatever. The whole gathering garbage thing just got really old. It also debugs some of the quests, whcih got me unstuck a couple of times.

      • Not Adahn

I run Dogmeat. He’s a good boy! And also he doesn’t get in the way of my shots.

Apparently with a Charisma build you can eliminate the friendly fire slaughter that was my bane in FO1?

Whatever DLC gave me Vault 88 made resources not a problem. I was so happy every time I found a copy of Blast Radius, now after scrapping all the uranium veins and broken reactors I’m at four digits of nuclear materials.

I didn’t pick up Sandman, because the ability to murk people while they sleep seems useless. But am I reading it correctly that at higher ranks all I have to do is slap a suppressor on and I get bonus damage?

      • Sean

For sneak attacks, yes. Bonus damage.

    • PieInTheSky

no idea what ya talking about but sounds like nerd shit.

    • R C Dean

If they can recover the black box from that crash I will be very impressed.

      • Ownbestenemy

Flying right seat most likely..but time will tell.

      • kinnath

Pilot-Flying has control of the aircraft. Pilot-Monitoring runs the radios and communicates with ATC.

In air transport, Captain and First Officer trade responsibilities regularly for training purposes. In business jets, Captain rarely gives up control of the aircraft (there will always be exceptions).

      Apparently not:
‘The radars clearly showed those cells; in light jets, the rule is to deviate with a good margin, not to fly through them – this could be an error by the woman who was piloting.

“Cyber hackers have targeted supermarket fridges and freezers across vast swathes of Europe in a repeat of an attack weeks ago that cost retailers millions in France

Ireland, Sweden, Belgium and Estonia were among the countries affected, and it comes a month after hackers seized control of cooling units at hundreds of French supermarkets in a large-scale attack, causing food losses and fires.”

Make them work one way. Send info, but don’t allow remote control.

    • UnCivilServant

I’m trying to figure out the justification for even including remote management features. To know if a fridge should be on or off, you have people on site. Data like temperature, door openings, etc don’t require the ability to make changes. Even if you want reporting from the units, you shouldn’t have remote management.

      • Common Tater

People on site might not be reliable. Also, something could go wrong while the store is closed.

      • trshmnstr

Even if you want “remote management” to be able to centrally monitor and manage on-site, you have to airgap that thing!

      • UnCivilServant

Automated callouts are a thing. It’s the basis of our off-hours response.

If something has gone wrong when the store is closed you will get a reporting alert, and you’ll need to get people on site to deal with the product getting too warm.

      • trshmnstr

I was talking with the manager of the local Walmart the other day and he said the defroster heat coils try to burn his store down multiple times per year. Evidently that’s a problem even without hackers.

      • kinnath

It makes complete sense to me to have remote monitoring and even remote queries and resets (with multi-factor authentication) particularly for a large business using a sub-contractor for maintenance and 24/7 support.

But putting shit online without proper security is stupid.

      • UnCivilServant

the defroster heat coils try to burn his store down multiple times per year.

That sounds like a serious design flaw with the unit. Is that something other manufacturers don’t have issues with? Or is that a common problem across suppliers?

“Former Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson has claimed that Donald Trump may be days away from launching a nuclear strike on Iran to destroy its Pickaxe mountain lair.

A strike against the underground nuclear site would render World War Three ‘inevitable’, said the conservative podcaster.

He said the US president was under pressure from Benjamin Netanyahu, who he described as ‘cornered and desperate’ following the Israeli election where he lost his majority…

Carlson cited no documents and relied on an unnamed ‘informed observer’.”

    • Not Adahn

Yeah, the narrative went from “Bibi gonna nuke Iran for votes” to “Trump gonna nuke Iran after it won’t hurt votes” has been remarkable. Then when there is no nuking it’ll be “We stopped Trump from nuking!”

NPR is on that bandwagon, but they have their own supplemental narrative line: “the uncertainty about whether or not Trump is gonna nuke Iran is hurting NATO, disrupting the world economy, and empowering Putin.”

    • The Last American Hero

Don’t worry, I’m sure Dave Smith will be around later to tell us how Tucker is right and the nuclear war is just around the corner. WTF is it about Trump that makes people lose their shit? Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader, a Democrat from New York, described Stevens’ endorsement of Rogers as “a despicable betrayal”.

“Senate Democrats are united in our support for Abdul El-Sayed, because we know he will fight for the economic interests of working families in Michigan, unlike Mike Rogers, who is a tool of Donald Trump and billionaire donors,” Schumer posted on social media.

Nancy Pelosi, a California representative, posted that Stevens had “chosen to dangerously betray Michigan families’ healthcare, freedoms and future with her horrific endorsement”.

Zohran Mamdani, the New York mayor, also said that “working class people’s lives are on the ballot on Tuesday”.

“Haley Stevens just betrayed them by endorsing the very Republican she said she wanted to run against,” Mamdani posted.

    ——-

On MS Now on Sunday, El-Sayed encouraged undecided Michigan voters to stand with him to protect democracy in the United States. “The divide in our politics isn’t left versus right; the divide in our politics is the people who are locked out versus the people who are locking them out,” El-Sayed said.

The fascists became a thing in the 1920s because of the communists fucking everything up… Western Europe is now run by the EU, which differs very little from the old Soviet style dictatorship of that now defunct union’s dark times. If you are even a skosh to the right of Marx, you are considered to be a dangerous far right entity. Frankly, the only difference between the commies and the fascists is that the commies believe in global or international communism, while the fascists – knowing that communism is doomed to failure – are better at hiding from being responsible of the consequences of their socialism.

  23. The Late P Brooks

    Follow the mumbo jumbo

Zucman, together with Jasper Boll and Emmanuel Saez, released an analysis of the California billionaire class and this proposed wealth tax.

“California billionaires’ wealth has reached $2.3 trillion by mid-2026, as large as all the annual income reported on income tax returns of all Californians,” they wrote. They found that California billionaire wealth had exploded by 144% between 2023 and 2025, thanks largely to the AI boom. “Over the longer run, the real wealth of California’s billionaire class — the top 0.001% richest households — has been multiplied by 25 from 1982 to 2026, while average real family income in California has only doubled.”

Zucman says a crucial problem with the existing tax system in California, America, and beyond is that the superrich have been seeing their wealth snowball bigger and bigger while paying relatively little in income taxes. Billionaires can structure their finances to generate little or no taxable income, making the income tax rate “totally irrelevant,” he argues. Zucman believes a wealth tax will help address this, thereby helping to fight rising inequality, counteract the political power of “the oligarchs,” and raise much-needed funds for everyone else.

Zucman, Boll, and Saez estimated that the state wealth tax proposed by Prop 40 could raise “about $100 billion, with comparatively minor impacts on income tax revenue.” They arrive at that figure by taking 5% of their $2.3 trillion estimate of billionaire wealth, then reducing the projected revenue by 10% to account for avoidance, evasion, and the possibility that some billionaires ended their California residency before January 1, 2026.

They’re experts. Believe them. Every last word is true.

  25. The Late P Brooks

Another crucial problem — which is at the center of the debate on this California wealth tax proposal — is that some superrich people move to avoid the tax. France became a cautionary tale, with critics often pointing to estimates that tens of thousands of millionaires left while its wealth tax was in place. However, how much of that exodus was caused by the wealth tax remains disputed.

Right. People move to Monaco for the beaches.

    • WTF

em>To avoid the failures of past wealth taxes, Prop 40’s designers have tried to plug potential leaks. Unlike France’s old wealth tax, it would tax business holdings, including shares in companies that billionaires run. And by making it a one-time, retroactive tax tied to where billionaires lived on January 1, 2026, they hope to prevent billionaires from escaping the bill by simply moving away.

However, whether these provisions will actually work is at the heart of the debate.

One thing is certain. The thing is on rock solid ground legally. Don’t even pretend there might be Constitutional hurdles to overcome. That would just add needless confusion.
