This is a really good week to remember that the stars are probably not talking about you. I finished Wednesday and can give it a thumbs-up. I think it finished stronger than it began. Yes, the protagonist was plot-armored to hell and back (especially relationship-wise) but at least the waif-fu went away. And refreshingly the director had read Chekov at some point. No ass-pulls.
I missed it when Wednesday Adams had a history of hand-to-hand combat. Maybe I’m just not caught up on the lore here.
Why was there ANY need to have scenes of her character getting into physical fights with anyone, let alone male characters?
I’ve been rewatching the movies with the kids and Wednesday sword fights with her brother in the first and kills a bunch of kids (not shown on camera) in the second. Violence and fighting is a part of her character, granted it’s more in a serial killer than an action hero type way.
