The trade deadline for MLB is upon us and there’s a few moves, but nothing spectacular…yet. Gilbert Arenas has been keeping busy after his career ended. Shouldn’t have taken a rake, buddy. You’d have probably gotten away with it if you just accepted tips or charged a cover. Gosh, that’s about it. Nothing much out of training camps worth talking about. I guess I’m moving on.
The balls on this guy… He was lucky to have gotten off. Then he sued? What an asshole.
This is probably the smartest decision she’s ever made. Whoever gets elected next will be left holding the bag. And when those unfunded liabilities come due, it’s gonna be ugly.
It might be time to rethink your morals, lady. Who am I kidding? In this day and age, this kind of statement could lock her in for permanent reelection, depending on how her district is drawn.
“Records are made to be broken.” I will shed no tears for these people. And I know that my opinion on this is not universal, but that’s how I feel.
Well this is a shame. Seriously. He’s been a good dude.
This is good news. It’s taken too long, but still good.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Hilarious stuff.
Wait, people still do this? One hour, max. And I still end up waiting 20 minutes before boarding.
Somehow I think there’s more to this story. Unfortunately, there’s a narrative to sell rather than facts to find.
Don’t Californiaize my Texas! The article claims it’s the opposite, but I have little faith. Wait, it say’s they’re “Houstonizing” the chain? Does that mean they’re expanding slab culture? If so, that’s ever worse.
Dig that sound. Just don’t call them nerd icons. They hate that. Anyway, what I don’t hate is their music. With the exception of Satisfaction, I thought they were great. So enjoy them.
And enjoy this lovely Thursday, dear friends.

I was wrong yesterday. I wrote that I’ve only seen Sydney Sweeney in commercials. She had small roles in Thursday night movie Dead Ant, and Under The Silver Lake.
I think she was also in season 1 of “the White Lotus”.
That further traumatizes and diminishes the lived experiences of Lotuses of Color!
I’ve never seen that, or Euphoria.
Genuine LOL at SDF-7!
Everybody knows that the Black Lotus was so powerful that it was banned from competition play…
No, it’s bnecause exposure to the Black Lotus Killed too many players
If that story about Black Lotus is true, I have no problem giving the player who so firmly committed to the play the ruling in their favor.
Her breasts were also in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood but only briefly. The rest of her too but who cares?
Huh, I must have missed that. The internet is TITS EVERYWHERE, so it’s no longer a big deal.
Don’t get too excited, the breasts were under clothes but she was definitely in it for about 30 seconds. One of Manson’s floozies.
Her Hooters skit is comedy gold.
“n her official city biography page, Parks says she “led the charge in passing Racism as a Public Health Crisis” when working for the Hamilton County governor.
It also says she “introduced, and passed, Juneteenth as a paid holiday for Hamilton County employees.””
This is my surprised face.
Is it really a good plan to start a race war with people who outnumber you 6 or 7 to 1?
I wish I could find it, but once upon a time I came across this video where a black guy was giving a speech about “You don’t want a race war” While he was talking the video kept switching between clips of white kids practicing three-gun events at a competition level and clips of ‘gangsta’ firearms fails.
Guy was funny.
Tribalism will narrow that 7 to 1 ratio down. I’ve first hand witnessed white people watch someone get jumped and just stand there like sheep.
I’ve first hand witnessed white people watch someone get jumped and just stand there like sheep.
A lot of that is probably due to the current culture where they fear being ostracized and ruined as “racists” if they are seen jumping in. That will change however as the pendulum swings back and people have had enough.
So, Parks is a piece of shit, but she’s likely not wrong – the victims of that beating very likely did do something to prompt it.
Some cultures use violence as a default means of correcting misbehavior, often because the official or accepted means of resolving disputes is thought to be biased or actively corrupt.
Stomping on a guys head that’s down isn’t corrective behavior, it’s attempted murder. As for the woman who got decked, yeah she really had that coming trying, admittedly stupidly, to break up the parties. What a bitch.
I had read one article that stated the man left before the beating and then returned. Sounds like maybe he had a bad idea washing around in his head that helped lead to this.
One of the worst beat downs I’ve ever seen was to a guy who had spent about an hour calling a group of SHARPs Nazis. Even after several people around him explained the difference, and warned that this would not end well.
the victims of that beating very likely did do something to prompt it.
I eagerly await the evidence of such.
I am unfamiliar with that term. Who are these people?
SHARPs – Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. Anti-racist skins, but every bit as much into the subculture. Definitely not people to fuck with unless you’re willing to back up your talk with action.
UCS:
Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice. An affiliation of skinheads that went explicitly anti-racist to draw a distinction between racist skins (referred to as bone heads to differentiate them), but still were the hard drinking, rowdy, blue color set. They were a large enough presence in the local scene that the bone heads were few and far between.
Killing someone can be a punishment for misbehavior. So can be getting knocked out for trying to interfere in someone else’s dispute.
Don’t mistake me – I’m not trying to say that this kind of thing is good or acceptable. By my own cultural standards, it very much is not. I’m saying that if one is going to interact outside their own culture, they need to be very careful and tread very lightly.
Or, if you prefer, I’m saying that dumb suburban white people need to stay in the suburbs where they belong.
The victims said Skyline isn’t chili.
Whether that’s deserving of a beating is an exercise for the reader.
So SHARPs are splitters.
Wypipo at a jazz festival?
Cultural appropriation!
/leaves juris imprudent with a drunk SHARP going into a 15 minute lecture about the noble warrior poet nature and deep roots of the skin head subculture and how it’s all the boneheads who are the fake skins
My favorite from the old “Stuff White People Like” site.
I cringe a little at self-righteous acronyms.
SHARP might be less cringe-worthy than NACHO though.
*pours one out for Jesse*
I doubt she asked for this.

Morning all — I was expecting this for music given the front page thumbnail… But Devo certainly works.
“Seriously. He’s been a good dude”
Not familiar with him, but never apologize to the woke mob.
Now you’re getting it. Most forms of social media are a cancer.
I hope he told his detractors to fuck off before leaving.
That’s Tonio style phrasing right there…
I’m sure his lawyers were itching to pad their legal bills — and it isn’t like he or they have shame (or most in that industry these days… or for that matter, greater society… when being a camwhore is socially acceptable… there’s not much shame out there)
And I hadn’t even made it to that link speaking of lack of shame (or morals, true…).
I guess she’s all in on the “urban knock out game” — just part of her culture like 9th grade knife fights or whatnot.
That possibly apocryphal story about the British India Governor-General and having each follow the ways of their culture is springing to mind now…
Yet somehow white people are bad for getting the fuck out of the cities.
WTF:
White people are also bad for moving back into the cities, see gentrification.
But they’re nerd icons! I’m glad to have gotten the chance to see them.
I don’t understand why people fly anymore either.
These days the only reason I’d fly is if it was the only way to get there.
I only fly for hockey trips, and I dread it every time.
If I can hold out until October, it’ll be 42 years since my last commercial flight. 😁
Of course, I DID jump through the hoops to get the Real ID, so I suppose I could fly if I absolutely had to. 😒
It’s a long walk to see relatives that live 2,500 miles away.
Mrs Hero is very nervous if we don’t show up at least 2 hours prior to departure.
“In more than 1.1 million private messages, women had told one another about rapes, opened up about abortions, identified cheaters. (“I am his wife,” one user wrote after saying she saw her husband being discussed on the app.)”
I wonder how many of those posts were false?
The vast majority of them, I’m sure.
9/5 of them, probably.
Also, if the first claim is true why would you post it in a place like that rather than a more public venue? If the goal is to protect women, shouldn’t you want it stated more broadly?
In a more public venue they might be exposed to the trauma of being asked for proof, or at least credible evidence.
Exactamundo!
I see what you did there.
I just realized after I used that word that if Tea had been around when Fonzie was, or modern prosecution techniques, he’d have probably ended up in prison for 50+ counter of sexual abuse of a minor.
Dude was what, late 20s on the show and spent all of his energy banging high school girls?
You heard it here 1st folks…Alan Alda was on Epstein’s Island jumping sharks and tapping tail.
Alan Alda?
Didn’t Henry Winkler actually get busted for some perversion? I remember his career falling off a cliff, then getting a bit role as a crush fetishist.
Ooops, to be fair Alan is probably on the list too.
I wonder what the writer would say if there were an app where men talked about women this way.
They’d be demanding it be taken down. Fortunately that’s already occurred if what I read was true.
Every time someone tried it got taken down.
I’ve seen several stories where the authors are complaining that men are taking the images from the leak and rating them, which is probably what a similar app for guys would basically be.
Online whisper networks have been a thing since
forever1993. Tea just centralized the data for harvesting.Add strikethrough where appropriate.
Ask and ye shall receive (so long as you didn’t preface your request by making fun of my typo first).
We only tease to prove we actually read it.
Glad you can stomach that drivel for laughs… I tapped out at:
“Oh, fuck right off” is my innate reaction to that misrepresentation of the current political clime… all the “See… this proves men are terrible and women need to be able to bitch about them!” didn’t amuse me all that much either.
I love how they completely ERASE women who are pro-life. And they don’t even bat an eye doing it.
They’re just
gender traitors“pick mes”, Comrade! How to say your entire life revolves around consequence-free fucking without saying that your entire life revolves around consequence-free fucking.
Why its almost like romance and consequence-free sex-on-impulse are two different, even incompatible, things!
Taking an extra two hours per passenger on average, that’s 1.725 billion hours, or $83 billion cost to the economy just for extra time wasted for domestic passengers.
I didn’t realize I add so much to the economy when I wait at home instead of at the airport.
As if this was an economic argument in the first place.
Thank you for your service.
That’s certainly the “you only exist to make the economy / government money” mindset, yeah… Myopic and dismissive of the rest of life for the win!
look at the tax cow thinking it’s people!
Taxes on time are the worst taxes of all. In theory you can make more marginal dollars, but you can’t make more marginal time.
Put those early arrivers on stationary bikes so they can feed the power grid.
I did when I had to fly one-way back to CA (to drive the other car and my wife over). Hadn’t flown since pre-COVID days, didn’t know if security was still insane and knew full well a one-way white guy was asking for special searching (they did pull my bag for extra scrutiny… I surprisingly didn’t get frisked). Didn’t know how long that would take… and I don’t mind reading in an airport once I’m through security — and it let me get through the Connector before rush hour started, so it all made sense to me at the time.
The story I read from a different source had more details, but the same conclusion. He got a wrist slap for marijuana usage, complied with the abjudication procedures and it was supposed to be expunged.
Not knowing fucking green card minutiae I have no clue if the offense can’t be expunged the way it would for you and me. Honestly, it looks like ICE is being a dick. I get why holders aren’t happy. Offenses that have never been enforced seem to now be enforced. Don’t jaywalk.
Meanwhile violent illegals get released on the streets of NYC with no bail as I type this.
Also, weed shouldn’t be illegal in the first place.
I agree on that. Focus on the troublemakers. Now what we might not be told is that there were some spying concerns that needed to be sorted out and the pot thing was just a way to hold him.
Exactly. There are any number of reasons this could be happening and which we will never be told.
But guys, that requires work and dealing with nasty people and fighting with local authorities.
Here I can goose my numbers with low effort and minimal risk of all kinds. Win.
Don’t care. Deport. Be squeaky clean or go home. There’s enough native born dope head degenerates stinking up the air already.
This.
The leftist’s plan was to create an invasion and a mess that we would be unable to untangle and never get cleaned up. I am worn out on that. My last drop of sympathy has already been used against me. I am not interested in the details anymore. Since they never, ever argue in good faith about anything I am not interested in anything they have to say.
This is a perfect example….poor valuable person here since he was 5 got picked on by OMB’s meanies. Oh, wait, wut? He was carrying dope? The same thing would have happened to me if I was idiot enough to carry dope through an airport. Fuck that moron. Ship him to Korea.
He wasn’t carrying dope.
In 40 years he didn’t become a citizen?
Bye.
Given the source, absolutely.
A fresh Shipley’s donut is something that must be experienced. A delicious but bizarre stare of matter bordering on non-Newtonian fluid wherein thixotropy gets confused.
I never understood why the Met kept Alec on as their spokeperson, but I never understood why they picked him in the first place.
RIP Ryne Sandberg. Deserving Hall of Fame, my favorite player as a kid.
I started out as a second baseman, later converting to catcher. (Just like Craig Biggio.)
He played hard. Nine consecutive gold gloves and one of the first generation of middle infielders who had some pop.
Milwaukee pulled a solid and had a moment of silence during their game w the Cubs.
Atta man.
Shit, I’m just hearing about this for the first time. It’s quite sad. He was a hell of a ball player and seemed to be a great guy.
He was always at fan events and I’ve heard nothing but good things about him. My SIL and FIL have a photo with him.
Ryne was so good that Cubs had to trade Jesus to get him!
Also RIP

How in the fuck have I been at work for 3+ hours? Damn.
Lunch in 45 min, Wendy’s bacon cheeseburger w a fried egg. $5.
Thanks for your compliments on my Uncle move.
I also enjoy my term for imparting wisdom on kids — ya youthenize ’em. (Can be used so many ways ..)
Kick ass, y’all. We’re counting on you.
Nice. For once I did not start at 6 AM. I slept in. I salute your diligence.
Evan, I’m amused by your “the time I spend with kids is awesome” and “no way would I ever have kids” thing.
RC, it’s the “When they get annoying, I can give them back to their parents” phenomenon. All the fun and none of the responsibility.
The best thing about being a grandparent is that you can give the kids back to their parents at the end of the day.
UCS gets it.
R C Dean:
I’m the same way. I enjoy children, but I know myself well enough to know that I would likely be a terrible father.
It’s like playing with other people’s dogs.
Other people’s dogs tend to like me.
Remind me, cuz I do wanna address that, but not with my thumbs as I eat my bacon n egg burger in my car. (Ha! I think it’s all here.)
Short: UCS has it (at least) half right. A kid could be the revelation that lifts me to wherever it is you go, all positive.
I also get epileptic jitters when I’m writing cover letters and figuring out *my* life. they’re remarkably unpleasant. Having my first kid… Might be Overload Central cuz I’m figuring out *someone else’s* life.
Legit: Medically, that’s terrifying. Personally? Uh. I don’t know yet. Legit am terrified of a kid and think I might explode and somehow be incapable of raising one.
So. Normal, everyday person first kid terror is understandable. I’m just a bit different. I’m unsure of how my body and brain would respond to all that stress. That uncertainty is also terrifying in its bewilderment.
That’s a different flavor of fear. And I only know how half of how it tastes.
And I need to find a woman to share it with.
There’s a lot to that emptiness. I still know no one in Indy.
Sorry and don’t worry, I remain persistently chipper. (Eek?)
Evan,
Had my first at 40.
Felt the same way except that I always wanted them.
It’s crazy how hard wired it is. It all just happens you rise to it.
“First Australian-made rocket crashes after 14 seconds of flight in failed attempt to reach orbit”

It was probably upside down.
Crikey!
Zey clearly needed more Nazi Rocket Scientisits.
Aiming for the most direct route to the North Atlantic?
It needs Ozzy Man commentary.
It was properly vaxxed but didn’t have all the required boosters.
I’m usually aiming for an hour before departure at the airport, so 40 minutes before boarding.
Zip through TSA Pre, then right to the lounge for some food and drinks, then saunter to the gate for boarding.
Getting lounge access has been transformative – I don’t believe I’ve spent a penny in the airport since.
It is fantastic. I rarely fly anymore so I need to reactivate everything before I go to California this December. I don’t have time to just drive it.
My wife has to fly to SoCal every 4 to 6 weeks for her new-ish job; with that travel and our own, we come out even-ish on the hefty Amex Platinum fees, once you add up the travel benefits.
Lounge access is the one I’d miss the most.
I still get there excessively early, but I also use airport/flying time to read paper books, so it’s not really a loss.
Same here. Plus, there’s people watching.
I just don’t understand the game people play of trying to time it so they just barely race through the gate before it closes.
Easy to do for your home airport. You know the rhythms. But TSA can decide to be asshats, so that variable alone always puts me 75 minutes prior to boarding start (typically 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure).
ALB has no rhythm. It’s the whitest airport ever.
Count me in this group also. I hate, hate, hate being late to anything, and have had to run through airports before due to other peoples stupidity, so I will not put myself in those shoes again.
My wife, on the other hand, will be late for anything, refuses to be on anyone else’s schedule, and generally acts like an only child.
“Records are made to be broken.”
Shoulda used a guillotine, amirite?
“Wait, people still do this?”
I aim for at least an hour and a half, because both of the flights I’ve “missed” in recent years I arrived at least an hour before wheels-up, and got fucked by long lines at check in (yes, the little kiosks weren’t working) or security.
Same. I spent and hour in a line to get to the terminal because there was only one security guy doing validation. And he was retarded.
“While many continue to debate about the advert online, ESPN analyst David Dennis Jr has weighed in on the matter and didn’t pull any punches as he did so.

This is beyond tiresome. Fire any news commenter who really thinks that.
No, because I am not a Nazi Dog.
What a bitch-ass moron.
Isn’t that the first requirement for getting an ESPN job? You know – the Olbermann standard.
Wait… people who’s careers depend on analyzing racial animus might find racial animus in places the rest of us don’t?

Have they also turned on Planned Parenthood? Or is eugenics couched as “women’s healthcare” still cool?
Still cool. PP ditched their last head who actually wanted to expand into women’s healthcare and doubled down on baby murder with a political hack (who is married to a Soros employee).
My favorite part about all this is that you just know all the screeching about the ad is selling a lot of jeans for American Eagle.
Well, unless AE goes full Fred Perry.
I’m hearing they sold out of those jeans.
Neph – Considering Fred Perry’s history with UK skins culture, that statement has blown right through tragedy into farce.
Ayup. How else to make your brand edgy and transgressive?
That ad agency more than earned their pay.
If she had driven away in a new Jaguar, this would all be OK.

“The Washington Post editorial board slammed Obama-appointed US District Judge Indira Talwani’s decision to block an “act of Congress” by issuing a preliminary injunction to revoke Congress’ decision to divert Medicaid funds away from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.
The Post editorial argued on Tuesday that, while some of the Trump administration’s attempts to strip federal funding from disfavored programs rightly face scrutiny for bypassing Congress, the Republican effort to cut Medicaid funding for abortion care was passed “fair and square” through the legislative process.”

These think of the children assholes are so tiring.
Don’t you know ever THC shop launches hunter-seeker drones that grab children, drag them to the store and force them to buy and use brain-melting levels of product?
They must be using starburst shells from the drone guns.
I am so tired of this Dan Patrick Asshole. Fuck off with the ban.
Where is my property tax relief, Dan Patrick Asshole?
STEVE SMITH THINK OF CHILDREN’S ASSHOLES.
Fuck’n’a. This is why we can’t have nice things. I know of no children who are/have been affected by this, but know several adults who will be affected by this and it’s just stupid. Stupid shit like this is why I’m libertarian.
It is quite remarkable that the candy industry came into existence seeing as how only children like candy. I can only assume some royal welp put a berry into his mouth and his governess, noticing his tranquility got the crown to create out-of-season sweet things to keep them shut up? And then commoners followed royal fashion?
I like to tease my friend (in his late 30s) who vapes because the flavors in his gigantic vape device are like kids’ breakfast cereal, like “blueberry waffles with whipped cream”, “double fudge brownie”, and “peanut butter cookie dipped in milk”.
“Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge said alcohol may have played a “significant part” in the violent mob assault outside a downtown nightclub that left a man and a woman seriously injured, and was captured in a video that quickly went viral.

“What Democrats have here is a failure to communicate — and that failure may prove fatal, not just for the party, but for American democracy itself.
As the shock has worn off following former Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to Donald Trump in November, and Trump’s inauguration in January, disillusioned Democrats have been searching for someone or something — anyone or anything — to solve their entrenched messaging and branding failures….
“The fatal flaw is that Democrats often assume this class-specific cultural fixation is widely shared across the broader electorate,” Peck said. “In contrast, working-class Americans tend to approach language more contextually. They often interpret statements in good faith and prioritize the intention behind a message more than the exact wording — unlike many in the professional class, who insist that intention is irrelevant.”
Because of this focus, Peck said “it’s no surprise that many of [the party’s] figures are wary of unscripted, freewheeling formats like podcasts — platforms that are almost antithetical to their communication norms. But after two losses to a tabloid-style president like Trump — who sees all publicity as good publicity — Democrats and their allies are beginning to abandon this rigid standard.””

It’s not that their policies deliberately lead to poverty and destruction.
Not all Democrats are that dumb…
https://www.liberalpatriot.com/p/democrats-should-give-up-on-resistance
Why, its almost like they are sociopaths who think the sole purpose of communication is the manipulation of other people to get them to do what is in your interests.
Almost.
Or it could be that their policies cannot withstand the scrutiny that can happen on a 1-3 hour podcast and work better as bumper sticker slogans.
“As the shock has worn off following former Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to Donald Trump in November…”
Narrator: The shock has not worn off.
Hell, the shock hasn’t worn off from 2016.

I’m sure some judge will step in and tell him that departmental policies set by previous administrations have the full force of law and cannot be modified by the current admin.
In fact, I’m sure they’ll do it the same day the EO to change to policies is signed.
Bullshit. Only regulations since 2009. I am certain that the massive pile of regulations that already existed won’t be touched.

My reaction – One “I’ll probably buy that” (Monster Hunter Stories 3), a bunch of “Don’t care”, and a handful of “Maybe” (FF Tactics, some other SquEnix titles)
Thankfully I was late to the stream, so I could skip forward to the next title each time something uninteresting came up, so I didn’t waste much time.
I might watch it when I hit the road tomorrow morning. I am not yet compelled to get a Switch 2. I think give it a year for prices to drop.
I have had no regrets, but I also can’t say “This is why you should buy one”.
No “killer apps” so to speak. But it did get rid of my minor complaints with the Switch 1
I look forward to improvements in Switch to Switch game switching, for one. Virtual cartridges was a start.
I’m not sure the virtual cartridges have any advantage. It’s just DRM for digital downloads.
Then again, I don’t know anyone I’d loan games to. So I don’t engage with that side of the feature.

If men weren’t so awful, women wouldn’t need to make false accusations. Do you even have a gender studies degree?
Sacre bleu – this was even before a female judge!
The culture says women shouldn’t be believed, therefore it’s the culture’s fault that this woman’s lies were not believed.
Hockey jargon is just too perfect not to have some spicy comments.
Im an expert stick handler, poke check, slide it in the 5 hole…
For many years in pro hockey, female groupies were called ‘pucks,’ because they got passed around.
Along the same lines – what do you mean evidence? Authorities (read that as Priests) have spoken!
Truth is subjective. It is known.
Yes, it’s male sexual entitlement when some slut begs for it on camera then decides it was rape afterwards. Definitely the male is the one who feels entitled, yes sirree!
I just want everyone to know that if I ever get gang-banged by a K-pop girl group, it was totally rape and I need evelenty trillion won from their producers. I only made those videos to help me get over the trauma. I mean… those were AI deepfakes!
wut
This might be the stupidest thing I read today.
Those red and blue lines are there to oppress women.
Greetings from somewhere in the Sea of Japan. We hit
PBusan, South Korea tomorrow. After seeing the “Atomic Dome” and other sights around Hiroshima yesterday morning, the missus and I ventured to Miyajima, where’s a sorta-famous “floating gate” (if you’ve been to EPCOT, you’ve seen the replica) and ventured on something quite Q-worthy.
For those who missed my quick comment yesterday: I visited
Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona memorial for the first time in 1979
Saw the Enola Gay at the Air & Space Museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in 2014
Went back to Pearl in 2014 and boarded the USS Missouri, where I saw a plaque marking the spot where the surrender documents were signed (and still saw oil leaking from the Arizona going past the ship as the tide went out)
and finally saw the Atomic Dome, formerly the prefectural industrial promotion hall.
So now I’ve visited in person the sites that were the beginning and the end of the US Pacific theater of World War II. Only took me forty-six years to complete.
About a half mile from Ground Zero is the Hiroshima Peace Museum, which has two floors dedicated to the horrendous effects on the citizenry of the events of August 6, 1945. Propriety restrained me from asking if Nanjing had a similar museum. It seemed inappropriate to skewer our hosts in that fashion.
About a half mile from Ground Zero is the Hiroshima Peace Museum, which has two floors dedicated to the horrendous effects on the citizenry of the events of August 6, 1945.
They got the date wrong, it’s about the horrendous effects on the citizenry of the events of December 7, 1941.
Talk about unintended consequences.
The Japanese civilians on the home islands were well into the FO stage of the FA/FO cycle of the war before the USAAF introduced artificial sunshine to them.
IIRC, Martin Caidin’s A Torch to the Enemy stated that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki totaled only about 3% of bomb damage in Japan during 1945. The rest was the relentless napalm firebombing of any city worth the avgas needed to send 300 or so B-29s there and back from Tinian.
But Hiroshima remembers its special place in history.
Another city will get nuked eventually, it’s as inevitable as the sun rising in the east. I just hope it’s not anytime in the next thousand or so years.
I often explain to people that US did equal damage and killing firebombing Tokyo, it just took much longer.
Far fewer people remember or were taught about it.
Instead let’s about Israel and Gaza…
I Still sincerely hope you’re on the Sea of Japan, not in it.
They do apparently.

Nice rack.
I got to feel it, too. They’re real!
“In its merciless pursuit of people without papers — most of them Latino — and its demonization of asylum seekers, refugees, holders of temporary protected status, Muslims and Palestinian-rights activists, the Trump administration is accelerating toward a new, modern nadir of Juan Crow, just downstream of Jim and Jane.”

Because it was John Crow?
C’mon, you know how Jamie is pronounced in Spanish – everyone would be confused thinking they are talking about Jews.
Dee-ay-ho sounds Jewish?
I’m pretty sure they’ve been using “Tio Tomas” for a while.
Because rule of law and sovereignty are racist.
JFC keep at it, the left. You’re just beclowning yourself more and more every day.
“Men’s existence creates misogyny” has been an nth-wave feminist truism since Valerie Solanas at the latest.
The problem with attacking every virtue and element of order in the civilization as racist and misogynistic is that at some point someone will actually believe you and decide that this means racism and misogyny are good things.
I’m not a Max Verstappen fan, but this was pretty interesting.
I might even like him better now.
Shit, I watched that too and thought the same.
Giving the devil his due moment:
“Productivity isn’t everything, but in the long run it is almost everything.” — Paul Krugman, 1990
I think he and I might disagree about how to apply that, but the quote is absolutely right.
The German military just picked a new pistol. CZ P-10F. Did not see that coming but good choice. And holstered CZs don’t shoot people.

Considerably less expensive (at the US retail level, no idea about EU-wholesale) than the Glock.
It has a good reputation online, but I’ve never owned one.
I was thinking it probably costs half as much as the equivalent Walther’s and HKs.
I prefer hammer guns and like my P-07.
A solid pistol that doesn’t AD while still in the holster? The damn Krauts have bested us again.
I’ve shot P10s. They’re good shooters and reliable, but I do not and will never think that a fully cocked striker and no manual safety is acceptable for a duty or carry pistol.
I might be wrong, but my assumption is that any military will require a manual safety.
Latin militaries require a Manuel safety.
If I am going to have a pistol in my pants I damn sure want a manual safety. I’ll take the minor risk/delay involved in having to thumb a lever before I can fire to add another layer of protection against shooting myself in the junk or femoral artery.
Going down the cz-usa rabbit hole…
The TS2 Orange is $1k more than the baseline TS2? Holy diminishing returns, Batman!
Good lord that’s an ugly pistol.
Not everything can be a 686
Degustibus, but I prefer the full underlug

I couldn’t agree more. The real advances over the last 100 years have been in powders and primers. Pistol design? Not so much.
For the last 45 years my carry pistols were designed before 1960.
1911, hi-power, SWmodel 39, SW J-frames in 38.
I dont want to hear it. Get off of my lawn.
Not Adahn, something looks wrong with extending that element
Suthen – for a range pistol in can agree with your metal gun preference. For stuff I have to hump around for miles, make it light please.
Drake: My choice carry gun for the woods, that is open carry holster/heavy firepower is usually a 6″ Super Blackhawk. If not that I go with the SW model 29. Occasionally when I want less weight I will carry a full sized 1911 in 45acp single stack.
I am about to run to the grocery and pharmacy so this is going to be my companion: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1114701259
Mine is nickel plated.
I’m 8’ tall and weigh 500 pounds.
I don’t really care about weight.
I do not believe you.
Generic looking.
Basic bitch black polymer striker double-stack 9mm. It looks like what it is.
Form follows function: think sorta Glock clone with a normal grip angle that doesn’t feel like you’re holding a brick.
It also comes in .45 ACP

Experts weigh in
As the Texas Legislature considers policy responses to the deadly Fourth of July weekend floods during the ongoing special legislative session, experts say state lawmakers are overlooking a key factor that made the disaster so devastating: unregulated development in flood-prone areas.
——-
Jim Blackburn, a Rice University professor specializing in environmental law and flooding issues, said the state’s lack of guardrails on floodplain development amounts to negligence.
“We’re very lax about the way that we approach land use regulation relative to flooding in Texas,” he said. “I just don’t think it has ever received the attention or the focus that it needs at the state level.”
The failure here is letting people think they can do any goddam thing they please just because they “own” a piece of land.
FEMA flood maps show that several of the worst-hit neighborhoods are in high-risk areas. In Georgetown, two RV parks along the San Gabriel River that were all but wiped off the map are directly in the floodway, where water moves most forcefully during storms.
Many jurisdictions outright prohibit new construction in floodways, but most of those rules apply only to immovable structures. However, many people in the RV parks lived there full-time.
Ban affordable housing.

Day after pics of that lady who got laid out in Cincinnati (not pretty, click at your own discretion):
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/cincinnati-councilmember-says-whites-begged-beatdown
Yikes.
She asked for it, by provoking the mob by being white.
Stay stacked or get clapped.
Hello all,
Great links Sloopy.
I think those two people in Columbus needed a beat down. They must have killed a bunch of puppies and tried to get away.
Joey Swoll is right, people do just want a reason to hate you. The same people only have power over you if you let them.
Music links are top notch. This year I’m going to see Devo twice. Once happened already (NYC) and the next will be at the Shakey knees festival in Atlanta later this year.
I expect an hope for a cameo performance of Dare to be Stupid with Devo and Weird Al.
By the way Devo has been converting their old videos to HD over time. Here is one of my favorites off of “Are We Not Men?! ”
https://youtu.be/n6QAfnpB9FQ?list=RDn6QAfnpB9FQ
Everyone in Columbus needs a beatdown: it produced Tosu, after all.
I am torn here. Usually I get violent when someone confuses Cincinnati with Columbus, but in this case that actually benefits my city so…
Attack on democracy
Allies of Brazil’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, have accused Donald Trump of launching “a direct attack on Brazilian democracy” after the US treasury slapped sanctions on Alexandre de Moraes, the supreme court judge widely credited with helping save Brazilian democracy from a 2022 rightwing coup.
The highly controversial US move was announced on Wednesday by the secretary of the treasury, Scott Bessent, shortly before Trump followed through on a threat to hit Brazilian imports with 50% tariffs by signing an executive order “to deal with the recent policies, practices, and actions by the government of Brazil”.
Trump has partly attributed those tariffs to his outrage at the supposed political “witch-hunt” against his far-right ally the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, who is on trial for allegedly seeking to seize power after losing the 2022 presidential election to Lula.
Moraes is presiding over the trial, which is widely expected to result in Bolsonaro being convicted and sentenced to up to 43 years in jail, as well as several other criminal investigations into Bolsonaro and his family.
Brazil is the epitome of exemplary democratic governance.
Responding in a negative manner to a Mussolini in judicial robes is obviously fascism.
I believe that all citizens have the right to access hair-removal services, but vehemently oppose any government subsidies for it.
Saving democracy by prosecuting a popular candidate on trumped up charges to ensure the socialist dictator wins is noble indeed!
Sydney Sweeney, she wolf of the SS
Especially in the current political climate, being accused of promoting whiteness is not a great look for the brand, nor for Sydney, who has previously had to address “misinterpretations” about her and her family’s political stance after people on her Instagram page were seen wearing MAGA-style hats.
——-
As you can imagine, the White House’s response has only fueled conversations about Sydney and the divisive campaign. The latest reactions online are pretty intense, with people highlighting that it hasn’t exactly made the situation any better, and it’s also not a good look for Sydney to have the Trump administration aligning itself with her.
OMG she’s in cahoots with Trump.
Even being associated with a Republican president who overwhelmingly won the electoral college as well as the popular vote is outside the norms of acceptability for Hollywood.
That really tells you everything you need to know about Hollywood.
Why does the “White House” have to comment on shit like this in the first place?
Because this White House also has to mess with cola recipes. To add to the enjoyment, the White House commenter seems to be a racist Nazi of Asian extraction.
There was a lot of stupid in these links today, but this article has to be the top dog.
