Thursday Morning Anarchy Links

Day 2: The government remains shut down. Other than the absence of Sloopy and Banjos, there has been no difference in my life. Where is the anarchy I was promised?

Another 80/20 issue the media will make Trump/Vance look like heroes on.

This is the Central Florida I expect. Sheriff runs gambling ring.

I’ll bet she was fire in bed before she set his house on fire.

Today you get excellent music and AI slop.

Now I gotta go make lunches and do school shit. What kind of moron has four kids?

About The Author

Brett L

Brett L

Brett set out to find America, the real America, the America of strip malls and serial killers, of butthole waxing and kelp smoothies, of cocaine and maggots. He sought it in the most American part of America—Florida: swamp gas and fever dreams, where love arrives on a rickety boat and leaves when it doesn't have the money for its fourth abortion. Oh, where has Brett gone? He’s drinking at the neck of America’s wang, chewing its foreskin and working its shaft. Brett is becoming legend. Brett can never die. Brett can never die. Brett is America, facedown in his own patriotic puke: the red his blood, the white his stomach lining, and the cold, cold blue his gas station slushie, spiked with coconut rum and tetracycline.

Newsom’s attempts to play the AI games are hilariously bad.

    • Tonio

…and his attempts to play tufgai come across as ineffectual and peevish, almost like he’s performatively saying what an AWFL would say. At least to me. And certainly in comparison to Trump’s NY bluster.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Newsome is so roundly hated outside of Dem circles that he has zero chance of winning any office that they don’t already control.

He is truly the Harris of future politics.

      • Translucent Chum

I think it’s because he has a beta intern run that account. There’s a photo of him floating around and he looks exactly how you would expect.

He comes across as a sleazy but high end used car salesman who had too much blow on his lunchbreak.

      • DrOtto

He’s a sleazy car salesman by day, and a sleazy mega-church televangelist by weekend, preaching the word of the holy government. Offering to fix the problems of the shitty car he sold you through government intervention. “The power of government compels you!”

ABC needed to put “AI GENERATED IMAGE” over it, as if people would think it’s real? Also, I’m not sure it is AI. It just looks like bad photoshop.

  4. Necron 99

Deepfake. TMITE keeps using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means.

    • Tonio

Oh, they know what it means, and they are deliberately using the term to fear-monger. Because “obviously photoshopped” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

      • Necron 99

My elderly aunt once became a dancing elf right before Christmas. What do you mean it was obviously photoshopped?

    • (((Jarflax

I dunno, using an obvious photoshop to disguise a lizard person disguised as a black man, doesn’t reduce the depth of the fakery.

    🙁

Since my face hurts I fiugred I’d order breakfast. I got a bagel sandwich. Normally the place I got it from doesn’t toast it unless I say “toast it”. For whatever reason they decided to toast it today. Since it gets cold long before it reaches me, the bagel was harder than croutons.

My face hurts worse from chewing through that 🙁

    • Common Tater

      Why does your face hurt?

      • (((Jarflax

A neti pot is good for congestion. Hope you are feeling better soon.

      • The Other Kevin

Hope you get better soon. I’m on the tail end of something similar. Sinus pressure, tired, a little feverish. This is day 10. Still lingering, but much better than it was last week.

      • The Other Kevin

And yes, use a neti pot 3x a day, take vitamin C and D, and Flonase is pretty good. I can’t take pseudoephedrine because I’m on blood pressure meds, but that stuff is great.

      • UnCivilServant

        Thank you.

Ideally I would prefer it not to run as long as yours has.

    • EvilSheldon

Jeez, sounds like you need a new bagel place. Room-temperature bagels are an abomination against all that is right and good…

      • UnCivilServant

You’re already wrong. It just need to not be toasted.

Only a fool toasts a bagel. Or someone who likes the taste of their own blood as it tears through their jaw.

      • UnCivilServant

What you should have said was “You need to find a place that still sells salt bagels.”

        I miss salt bagels.

      • EvilSheldon

The toasting is necessary to keep the cream cheese, lox, onions, and capers from turning the bagel into a soggy mess. You don’t need to go overboard.

      • UnCivilServant

First off, if you’re heaping that stuff, you don’t need the bagel.

Second this was a SANDWICH. It was Ham, lettuce, and Tomato.

      • UnCivilServant

Thirdly, you apply the cream cheese yourself just before eating, there’s never time to soak.

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Who buys a bagel sandwich if their face is hurting? bagel shop errors aside, you played yourself.

      • UnCivilServant

They are correct that premiums will go up. That is a no-brainer. The way to reduce premiums is not to keep pushing big government. When the Big Insurance companies killed off the competition as part of a deal for ObamaCare, they shot themselves in the foot. Repeal all of it. Repeal every federal insurance mandate, and allow free competition. If I want a catastrophic care policy with no pregnancy coverage (because I am 59, not going to happen in my family again) I should be allowed to get if for less than $100 a month. Nothing should be mandatory, nothing should be federally regulated.

      • Sensei

I made the mistake of playing world cup with my middle school soccer team at practice a few weeks ago. Without describing the entire drill/game, you play in pairs and each pair represents a country. So many of the kids failed to name a country that they would represent.

      • UnCivilServant

Give me an unlabelled world map, I could probably correctly name 70% of the countries. My weakest areas will be subsaharan africa, the -stans, and which baltic was latvia versus estonia. I’ll also get the island countries with populations smaller than a minor city wrong.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

The Baltics are alphabetical north to south. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.

Kazakhstan is the really big one. Tajikistan borders Afghanistan. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are a toss up.

It’s sort of a little semantic game they’re playing that the million illegal immigrants that Biden gave parole amnesty to (that Republicans are fighting the legal status of) are “legally present”.

But would their position be popular if we called them “legal”?

That’s why Democrat states cannot simply pass a bill raising taxes for this and paying for it. It would never fly.

“Truly, this is one of the greatest celebrity animosities of this century. The earliest extant Blanchett-rant on the subject is a W Magazine interview, way back in 2007, when she ambiguously characterised leaf blowers – a lot of fence-sitting here – as “everything that is wrong with the human race”.

In the 18 years since, the two-time Oscar winner has ranted about leaf blowers: while munching her way through chicken wings on Hot Ones (“Gardeners, their faces … they know what they’re doing is stupid”); on Subway Takes (“Leaf blowers need to be eradicated from the face of the Earth”); during the press tour for her film Black Bag (“If you see someone with a leaf blower, doesn’t your blood pressure go up?”); and even on the red carpet at the world premiere for Where’d You Go, Bernadette (for the avoidance of doubt: “I hate them so much”). She even shoehorned them into a press conference at Cannes for a film very much not about leaf blowers (the film’s director: “This again?”).”

I wonder why the author did that… 🤔

*Disclaimer: my opinion may be a trifle subjective, having lived directly across the street from an obsessive Blower Man. I, myself, have used a leaf blower, and Blower Man yelled at me for blowing our leaves too far out into the street.

1970: VICTORIAN TEENAGERS reminisce | Yesterday’s Witness | Voice of the People | BBC Archive

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv6V1yHvJyo

What was it like to be a teenager in the Victorian era? Two women, now in their 90’s, talk about their younger days in the 1890s. Frances ‘Effy’ Jones – one of the first women to be trained to use a typewriter, and to take up cycling as a hobby – recalls the life of a young working woman in London. Berta Ruck, a romantic novelist, remembers her formative years at art school, and the culture shock she experienced after moving from her secluded home in rural Wales to the muddy hustle and bustle in the heart of Victorian London.

On LaWhore Vagistani teaching gender gibberish at Harvard:

“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

    “I rule, you obey. ”
This is the reason for the rank hypocrisy on display constantly. Gavin Newsome eats at The French Laundry with his whole family, unmasked, during the lockdown/mask mandate while turning off other people’s power and light for having family gatherings. ‘Climate activists’ fly private jets all over the world to climate conferences to tell you to use less energy. When challenged about his private armed security while advocating for disarming the public Barney Frank replies “That’s different”.
This freak show at Harvard is exactly the same – a huge middle finger to you and a declaration “We rule, you obey”. That is what they are teaching the kids. They aren’t teaching the kids gender gibberish. They are teaching “You rule, they obey”.

If you IPO in Britain, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) will subject you to DEI.

To IPO you must commit to 40% women on your board, a woman in a top job and an ethnic minority director.

For founders focused on growth, this is an anti-meritocratic imposition that must go.

Public markets need new listings to inject liquidity (available cash for investment), to signal to founders that they can scale, give investors optionality and boost competition and growth.

The average IPO increases employment by 17-32% in year one, and more after that 👇

IPOs provide an exit for large companies held by private investors.

This allows retail investors to benefit from that company’s growth. It also frees up capital for those private investors to reinvest further down the start-up ecosystem.

When IPOs fall, all investment falls.

    Why is this happening?

Part of the reason is that British stocks are so undervalued.

When a founder floats their company, they want to make money and sell at a premium.

In Britain, it is likely they will have to accept a discounted price – a loss.

    Few would accept this.

Given the current weakness of the London Stock Exchange and drought of IPOs, they should make it as easy as possible for companies to IPO.

By removing disincentives and smoothing the listing process, paired with tax treatment changes – liquidity could slowly be reinjected.

Text stating the Board supports and seeks to adhere to the Financial Conduct Authority\’s current targets on Board diversity, which build on the recommendations of the FTSE Women Leaders Review on female representation and the Parker Review on ethnic diversity. Environmentalism also undermines British IPOs.

In Britain all public companies (that have IPOed) are must publish and track their emissions.

This cost is difficult to quantify.

Britain has amongst the highest stamp duty tax on its shares.

Individuals are less likely to trade shares as when they do so they lose money.

A new IPO is less likely to raise money as investors have to accept a 0.5% loss off the bat.

There is no stamp duty in the USA.

A good idea would have been to set up “offshore captives” similar to those in the Caribbean, and get into banking and tax shelters. Added bonus, the tribal land is super close to nontribal land, so you can actually meet with your banker who is a short drive away.

There is only themselves blocking the path to success and prosperity.

On this side of the pond, the 24-year-old crowd-sourced encyclopedia is facing a Reformation-style campaign by its disillusioned cofounder Larry Sanger to strip the anonymity of only its most powerful editors and break their grip on narrative control.

The crown jewel of the Wikimedia Foundation is losing its sheen in the face of Sanger’s “nine theses,” promoted by nascent Wikipedia competitors including X owner Elon Musk, and the stories of dissenting editors and article subjects who claim Wikipedia’s elite suppressed their work and locked or scrubbed articles to prevent challenges to its orthodoxy.”

The event marked the 10th anniversary of the late Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si, which calls on Catholics to care for the environment and address climate change. During the ceremony, Leo placed his hand on a block of ice in front of a crowd and blessed the water dripping from it, saying, “Lord of Life, bless this water, may it awaken our hearts, cleanse our indifference, soothe our grief, and renew our hope, through Christ our Lord.””

President Donald Trump on Thursday said Democrats have given him an “unprecedented opportunity” to slash federal agencies, signaling plans to harm his political opponents during the two-day-old government shutdown while blaming them for causing it.

Trump’s warning came a day after his administration froze about $18 billion for two major infrastructure projects in New York City and canceled roughly $8 billion more for climate-related projects in Democratic-leaning states.

Both of the funding halts were first announced by Russell Vought, the director of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, not by the departments that have oversight over the projects.

Trump said he will soon meet with Vought “to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut.”

Patel announced the decision in a social media post Wednesday, criticizing a partnership celebrated under former FBI Director James Comey — a political adversary of President Donald Trump who was charged last week in an indictment sought by the Justice Department.

He singled out past speeches by Comey that the former director said amounted to “love letters” to the ADL, which has provided hundreds of tips about extremist activity per year to law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

And people bitch about Trump wanting to police thought.
