How again do the wheels of justice grind?
They don’t. We took them off years ago.
Replacing them with the polygons of equity locked the machine up.
Throw the book at her.
Her fellow judge will sentence her to probation with no fine.
Obstruction as a judge should be an exacerbating factor which doubles the manditory minimum. It’s the exact opposite of the behavior required of the job.
But it hasn’t been put in the law.
Nope. That’s no longer an option in federal court. But if her conviction is upheld on appeal she’ll do easy time in a “club fed” minimum security facility.
Dear, dear Tonio…A leftist judge will simply declare her conviction unconstitutional, or just overturn on appeal because “reasons”.
Morning, Banjos.
Hope today goes well.
How about, instead of encouraging white men to join the lawsuit lottery game, we do away with the whole concept of employment discrimination lawsuits?
It’s OUR TURN!!! /tards shouting

And restore freedom of association?
That’s crazy talk!

Bullshit. Get back to me when spending is actually cut and FedGov is running a surplus.

https://archive.thinkprogress.org/six-years-after-cheney-said-deficits-dont-matter-the-national-debt-hits-a-50-year-high-40193bdadd2e/
The party out of power always frets about our tenuous fiscal state; the party in power parties on!
The deficit spending was all part of the plan to extract as much wealth as possible from the private sector to fuel and enrich a cabal of low life losers working in government and government connected shit. There is and never will be any will to fix that, because it is part of the agenda. To actually get spending cuts, we will need to do some cutting of our own.
Trump wants to rush back to the moon – what, at warp speed?
We need to set uo the automated laser turrets to shoot down anyone else trying to take our Lunar territory.
The military that holds the high ground wins.. And in space, the moon is the high ground for this globe.
Unless you’re lobbing weapons of mass destruction, the distance makes it out of range, since the time from firing to impact means the target will have moved. It is only useful if you are willing to destroy whole cities, though denying it to those who are willing to destroy whole cities is a good idea.
Energy weapons…. Speed of light is less than 3 seconds to the planet..
We have no energy weapons which maintain cohesion across that distance. Spead and attenuation make them ineffective long before they reach the other end.
You are correct. But the qualifier is YET.
Such weapons would also render lunar batteries moot as you can shoot in the other direction with equal effectiveness.
I’m not sure I would get on a spaceship designed by the current generation of government apparatchiks.
I’m 100% sure I wouldn’t.

NASA because of the influence of stupid fucking marxist shit has become a shitshow. Concerned with all the lefty political shit, replete with DEI idiots, and a massive drain of cash. It is government make-work. They can’t do anything more difficult than PowerPoints on racism from black holes, white dwarfs, and Pluto being a lil dick. Close the doors and privatize space industry.

JFC people, warp speed. Like the non-vax. My best guess is that Musk was already planning for this and now Trump wants to get in front of it to lead the parade.

Steam has Fallout 4 for $8. It might be fun.
It’s a competent shooter.
The modding community made it better.
See, I’m not the biggest fan of FPSs. Especially since my favorite FO1 and 2 builds involved the sniper perk. Unless there is some sort of auto-aiming going on that perks influence.
They nerfed VATS in 4 so that it doesn’t pause time anymore, just slows it down.
No auto aim on just shooting, perks influence the damage done.
NA:
FO4 gutted the entire skill and perk system. There are no skills, instead there’s just perks, which you unlock by raising your SPECIAL scores, and then purchase with level ups. Instead of aiming boosts, there’s sway reduction, smaller splash zone, and higher damage.
The general trend is if your entry point to Fallout is FO3 or later, FO4 is great. If your entry point was earlier, it’s rage inducing.
The truth is – it was just okay, but oldbeards and zoomers got in a spat and polarized.
Ya and that was my entry point. Games are what the person playing them make of it and UnCiv is correct…the modding community made it into the game it almost should be
Do it, but get the GOTY edition for $9.99.
DON’T enable Automatron until later in game.
I will be taking your advice!
<===
The Automatron questline has some fantastic fights, tough even at high level. The rest of what it adds is annoyance. Annoying voices, sounds, and exploding enemies that wreck your settlements
It’s an ok add on, but it does tend to override a lot of the base game random encounters once you trigger it.
Building murderbots is also entertaining.
For those who like tactical CRPGs, I would highly recommend W40K: Rogue Trader game on sale. I’m picking up the DLC after playing the main campaign through.
The DLC in Rogue Trader is built into the existing Act structure, you can’t just play it after the main game.
*sigh* I suppose a shutdown was too much to have ever hoped for.

It’s not as though a law was passed with bipartisan support requiring exactly that.
I’m trying to remember the name of a song. It’s old enough that I heard it when I was little. The only line that comes to mind is a potentially misremembered lyric of “the good old days weren’t all that good and tomorrow isn’t as bad as it seems.”
Anyone able to help?

As much as a quarter of the active US navy is now in the Caribbean
Venezuelaâs leader NicolĂĄs Maduro faces his biggest challenge yet after US President Donald Trump announced a blockade of the South American nationâs sanctioned oil exports, but Washington will probably need military action to oust the long-ruling autocrat, experts said.
Trump declared Maduroâs revolutionary socialist government a foreign terrorist organisation on Tuesday and vowed âa total and complete blockadeâ of oil tankers subject to US sanctions heading to or from Venezuela.
Sanctions rarely work on their own, but here’s hoping.
How much do we normally keep in that theater? I mean it’s our front yard.
We usually keep most of that overseas for force projection purposes, as there are really very few potential threats in our front yard.
Now that I’m following these things, I can say it’s pretty unusual to have a carrier group in the Caribbean, but not in the Middle East. I’m not sure that’s ever happened.
Maduro has announced that Venezuelan navy ships will be escorting oil tankers. Seems kind of stupid as it will provide a great excuse for Trump if they try to stop the USN from intercepting a ship.
Wait – A: does Venezuela actually have any ships? B: do they actually work?
They have some ships, but any confrontation with the USN will likely go about like Operation Praying Mantis in the 1980s.

Last day of work for the year. Broke my keyboard in frustration yesterday but today everything works and I am ready for a break.
Romania has, I must admit, a ridiculous number of public holidays ever since the 6th and 7th of January became no work days. 24 25 / 1 2 / 6 7 (no meme intended)
I have too many holidays and I only get the 25th and 1st off. I’m working the day before and after each. What happened around the 7th to make Romania turn it into a holiday?
Romania: A legal holiday for the “Synaxis of St. John the Baptist”. As to why its a holiday beats the hell out of me I guess a government wanted to buy votes with free days instead of cash.
Congratulations, you have introduced me to an English word with which I was previously unfamiliar.
My gratuitously bloated vocabulary thanks for you Synaxis.
the Romanian word used is Sobor which is slavic in origin.
Eh I am sure you will forget the new word in a few months unless you have good memory for words đ
I do, in fact, have a good memory for words.
My last day was yesterday too. I am now gonna go somewhere tropical to recert my scuba instructor shit, drink exotic drinks, and chase the local females.

The conviction of Hannah Dugan (link to non-paywalled version of article) is extremely gratifying to me. She was a judge. She knew better. She thought that the rules that applied to the little people didn’t apply to her robeship.
I’m just hoping she gets a sentence that makes other judges stop and think.
Five years max. But even if she only gets a year it will ruin her career. Not to worry, she’ll be a martyr to her fellow AWFLs.
Even that may not have the deterrent effect we would hope on other AWFLs. Orange is the new black, after all.
I am okay woth impeachment, lose her law license and now has to find a new career and cannot be in civil service anywhere
Will they also finally quit paying her salary? She’s been on paid suspension since April.
According to Wisconsin law she will automatically lose her judgeship once her appeals are exhausted.
Her conviction was in federal court.
So ten years or more?
I don’t think that the typical AWFL has the presence of mind to be deterred by anything that doesn’t happen immediately and directly to them.
Much like cats themselves, cat ladies have a hard time extrapolating from cause to effect.
I’ll hold off on celebrating until seeing what the punishment is. I have a feeling it’ll be much lighter than the punishment for one of lesser clay.
Tonio is right, above. Judges no longer have much discretion to depart from sentencing guidelines on federal crimes.
Also nice that we didn’t have to wait 2 or 3 years for this resolution.
Nor for a Dem president to pardon her right away.
This is where China’s name and shame boards would be useful
*Just for any person who is engaged in any level of government (and NGOs) and has been convicted of breaking the laws they administer or defraud the People.
A nice thought, until you realize that the government would be running such boards, just by design.
The thing that scares me Tonio is that there is a whole SLEW of people like her all in positions of power. They can be petty and use said power against those people they look down upon while constantly letting criminals walk. We live in an age where feminized empathy has become so toxic that the empathy is directed at the villain for the crimes they commit while the victim is either vilified or ignored unless the right demographics are involved.
I was pleasantly surprised by that.
Shepherding our tax dollars
In 2022, Canoo Technologies Inc. was contracted to supply three EV vans, listed as âArtemis Crew Transportation Vehicles.â
These fully electric vans were supposed to be environmentally friendly and would not produce emissions as they would take Artemis astronauts to the Space Launch Systems rocket to the moon.
According to the contract, it cost NASA $147,855 for the three vehicles.
Not sure why the vans had to go to the boneyard just because the parent company went tits up. It’s a seven mile round trip.
Phone home licencing chat bricked the vans when the servers shut down?
That would be my guess…cant contact home…no start car
That’s not a bad price, just under $50,000 a van.
Not at all. A new Chevy commuter van or Ram commuter is about that price, for a basic version.
Not if they’re using batteries. And, you know, plastic, metal, and any other manufactured materials.
They just need some big Amish wagons and draft horses if they want the truly environmentally friendly transport.
“three EV vans”
Ooh. That’s the most egregious example, yet. I’m further merging w machinery, apparently.

Protecting them from what?
Anyone that thinks there is any salacious or incriminating material of any kind that can lead to court and punishment for the people involved is a moron. Anything incriminating has been curated and/or destroyed. You are far more likely to get shit that was later made up for political reasons. This whole thing is nothing but a distraction for low information people and to give democrats ground to suddenly pretend to take the moral high ground and say they do not care if Bill Clinton also has to go down since they already know there is zero chance of that happening.
Ah the old Friday newsdump, so it will be old by Monday.

Safety first
Boise has implemented a new Slow Zone Pilot Program, reducing the default driving speed to 20 miles per hour citywide unless otherwise posted.
The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) announced that starting in January, roads within the perimeter of Fourth Street to 28th and from State Street to Hill Road will see speed limits lowered from 25 mph to 20 mph. New flags will be placed at marked crossings on Harrison Boulevard, and Slow Zone signs will be installed throughout the neighborhood.
Officials said this initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance safety for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. The program’s outcomes will be closely monitored to ensure safer neighborhoods across Boise.
This is necessary to reduce the the massive horrible toll of pedestrian deaths every day.
The fines will just be a happy coincidence.

Serious thinker weighs in
Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith criticized President Trump on Thursday for prolonging the release of files tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, suggesting the president was seeking to protect âvery influential people.â
âI think that exists on both sides of the aisle, where there are some notable people that may have been aware of the transgressions of Epstein and did and were complicit by doing nothing, and letâs hope they wouldnât participate either,â Smith said during an appearance on NewsNationâs âCuomo.â
âBut clearly by doing nothing, not calling him to the cop, and not holding him accountable or anything like that, and I think those are the names that folks are trying to protect because theyâre very influential people within our government of the United States,â he added.
This sounds more like that preschool debbil worship story every day.

But then how are five generations of his heirs supposed to be millionaires off his work?
Pretty sure his heirs got bupkis. The syndicate owned it.
A: It was sarcasm.
B: Wouldn’t that make the Syndicate the heirs to his intellectual property?
No, because it was transferred to them prior to his death, so inheritance doesn’t come into it.

By the time that Joe was exposed as senile in a way that couldn’t be swept under the rug, campaign finance laws meant that only Harris could use the billion-dollar war chest for the campaign.
And as soon as Harris opened her mouth, people grokked that she was a moron, even by politician standards.
Couple that with the disastrous effects of letting progressives run amok in the West Wing for four years, and it’s remarkable that the race was as close as it turned out to be (well, letting California stuff ballots for a month to bring up her totals made it seem close, too).

At the pace that Florida is killing its most heinous murderers it’ll still take thirteen years to clear the backlog.
I’m not a fan of it myself, but it’s telling that in this case (and others like it) I do not feel even a twinge of sadness.
Anti-Christ-in-Chief
So why is Trump pushing vice? Probably because it both fits his worldview and is viewed as smart politics. As Manhattan Institute scholar Charles Fain Lehman recently noted, âTrump, in a second term, looks likely to go further than in his first in dumping many traditional Republican policies. In particular, Mr. Trump seems willing, even eager, to embrace vice.â
Lehman added that Trumpâs positions appear to be âpart of a calculated effort to turn out young men, who, surveys suggest, helped propel him to victory.â
Still, if youâre a Trump-voting dad, or a traditional or social conservative worried about what kind of world your kids are inheriting, itâs fair to ask: What, exactly, did we win if winning the White House translates to losing our kids?
Trump is the Great Corruptor. Or something.
“Meanwhile, Trump reportedly has plans to issue an executive order reclassifying marijuana as a Schedule III drug. Among other things, this move would ease federal restrictions and give Big Weed a massive tax break.”
