Friday Morning My Brief Career In Politics Links

by | Jan 30, 2026 | Daily Links | 265 comments

Here in the Gulch, we had our Team Red and Team Blue caucuses (cauci?) this week to nominate candidates for the village Board of Trustees. Now me, I always think of trustees as some position for squealers in a prison, but here it applies to the elite set of individuals who are supervising the finances as the village swirls down the drain. Given my stories here, it comes as no surprise that the Team Red caucus was… two people, plus the chairlady. The Team Blue caucus filled the room and needed extra chairs. And the Team Red nominated candidate is me. With approximately 450 registered Blue and 14 registered Red, I think the election outcome is pre-ordained; nonetheless, it will be fun to see my name on the ballot.

The most important birthday today is that of the hallowed and beloved SP, who in a just universe would be celebrating her 63rd birthday, and would no doubt be laughing her ass off at this spectacle, while at the same time be inwardly delighted that I’ve leeched into the local ecosystem with such effectiveness. Other less important birthdays today include the role-model for modern politicians; the second-worst president in US history; the guy who taught Dizzy what’s what; a delightful writer and the author of one of my favorite lines: “After absorbing the news of today, one expects to face a world consisting entirely of strikes, crimes, power failures, broken water mains, stalled trains, school shutdowns, muggers, drug addicts, neo-Nazis, and rapists. The fact is that one can come home in the evening—on a lucky day—without having encountered more than one or two of these phenomena.”; a far greater man than the aforementioned president; an actor, who despite great talent and great Yiddish, I will always think of as “that guy I saw on Star Trek”; a guy who would never pick his feet in Poughkeepsie; a guy who showed us what an ideal politician is; a slightly less insane Bobby Fischer; founder of a disgusting dynasty; the best second basemen I ever saw play, and whose firing told me everything I needed to know about the future of the Orioles; an insane woman who had a unique and interesting life; and a guy rumored to be a crypto-Jew.

But this very non-crypto-Jew has some Linky-links.

Lindsey Graham shows once again that she’s a fucking moron. Not because of opposing funding but because of her reasons. Graham pointed to language in the bill that would repeal a provision allowing senators to sue if their phone records were collected as part of former special counsel Jack Smith’s probe. “What senator wouldn’t want notification that they’re looking at your phone?” he (sic) said. How about the rest of us, you authoritarian cunt?

It’s -7° out and windy. I doubt that there will be demonstrations here in the Gulch.

USAID started the propaganda early.

Ironic humor is the best humor.

Ironic humor is the best humor, Part 2.

“Building hotels and facilities only to attract visitors — but where would the people of this besieged land go — with their children and grandchildren, and with the traditions and customs they have preserved for decades?” Bassem Al-Masri said.” DECADES! A shockingly honest statement for once.

So much speculation, so little evidence.

A little reminiscence on something I’m a geek about.

Anyone seen Tonio lately?

Ultimate nepo-baby? My goodness, this is a thoroughly unattractive person.

The Howard families agree. “Life is short…” “…but the years are long.” “Not while the evil days come not.”

This song was one of SP’s absolute favorites. I can barely listen to it without crying. Happy birthday wherever you are.

I briefly considered working today to counter protest, but life is to short to let idiots control my actions, even as a protest, so instead I am being retired just as hard as possible to show my opposition to idiots. Pants will not be worn!

    • Rat on a train

My counter protest will be to go out to eat and maybe do some shopping to prevent my wife’s cabin fever from getting worse.

      • AlexinCT

That’s the counter to every stupid shit they say..

The people fomenting the rebellion and their need to create angst for these idiot protestors committing suicide by cop, is all so the left can lamely create another George Floyd moment and riot. This is being done so they can tell Americans they will never allow the country to be run by anyone but democrats, and that they better vote accordingly, or else. It is a bunch of theatre kids doing the dirty work and psyops of a cabal of evil fucks with even more evil agendas.

Every time the leftist mouthpieces act mortified about one of their useful idiots getting in a fight with LEOs and then eating bullets, bring up how many people were murdered by these the illegals they are defending (and then only because they need the bodies to rig the census and the elections), while they did their best to hide and ignore those stories…

Here is some documentation on how to do this: https://x.com/ItsDiamondJoe/status/2016637709167530365

      • Drake

Excellent beat down by Gutfeld. He treats her with the absolute distain she deserves.

      • rhywun

        Saw that.

She is so repulsively, reflexively awful I have to wonder if she’s a performance artist.

    • Suthenboy

      Oh, is today that day?
Nothing will change. These people have fooled themselves into thinking they have popular support or maybe they think if they pretend hard enough all the average Joe people will rise up for the glorious revolution.
In any case it will just be all the same paid useful idiots. Most people just want to throw a brick at them.

  2. Ted S.

best second basemen I ever saw play

    Happy birthday Rogers Hornsby!

    • (((Jarflax

Very Old Man With Candy! The candy is probably horehound. Hmm or is Candy the whore he hounds?

      • AlexinCT

        Inquiring minds want to know..

  3. AlexinCT

So much speculation, so little evidence.

    It was the Aliens!!!

    • Old Man With Candy

Amazingly, or maybe not, that hypothesis has been put out there numerous times.

      • AlexinCT

Georgio told me they came here to bang the monkeys, create their own slave race, and as their scout trip, and they left all these goodies all over the place on that show he is on!

      • AlexinCT

I think according to the believers they are living under the oceans, in Antarctica, and in hollow earth, but come up to mingle and cause trouble when they get bored..

  4. R C Dean

From what I can tell, the “customs and traditions they have preserved for decades” seem to consist mostly of (a) grifting off the UN, Euros, and misc. Islamic countries, and (2) killing Jews.

    • UnCivilServant

2 has been inherited from centuries of jew-killing going all the way back to Mo the bandit.

    • Old Man With Candy

This is true, but normally there’s a claim of great antiquity, “our culture which has continued unbroken for 3000 years since the Canaanites, before the European Zionist colonizers invaded.” So this is a great improvement.

      • UnCivilServant

Bold claim, since their culture today is heavily islamized.

      • AlexinCT

Islam came about from Samael playing a trick on that moron Mohammed.

  5. R C Dean

My nominee for ultimate nepo-baby would be Kamala’s spawn with her modeling career. Although props for picking one who states “I have a lot of mental disorders . . . .”

    • Tonio

      That’s her step-daughter.

    • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

      But she’s so beautiful.

  6. rhywun

the Team Red nominated candidate is me

    Thoughts and prayers.

I appreciate the whimsy of flirting with the piles of stupid that is local politics in towns like yours and mine but holy hell I could not do it.

      • Ted S.

        Governor Ilium for the win!

    • robodruid

Indeed, never met her, wish i did.

      • UnCivilServant

Every time I was about to be in the area for a visit, OMWC moved her to the other side of the country, preventing the meetup.

    • Tonio

      Indeed. Celebrating her memory.

    • ron73440

Same from me, she was always extremely nice when I would email her about my first articles here.

Still sorry for your loss OMWC.

    • bacon-magic

I met her once and they were kind enough to let me stay at their house. Best cookies ever were provided also. RIP.

  7. Ted S.

an actor, who despite great talent and great Yiddish, I will always think of as “that guy I saw on Star Trek”

Just recently I saw him playing a Latin American president in the mediocre film Guns of Darkness.

  8. rhywun

Did Lindsey transition while I wasn’t looking and it didn’t make the news…?

    • AlexinCT

      Watchu talking about Willis?

  9. DEG

I think I have a new record for tapping out of an article. I pull up the nepo baby article and:

In ‘I Love LA,’ she’s a manic TikTok striver. In ‘Marty Supreme,’ she’s a combustible climber keeping up with Timothée Chalamet. In reality, Hollywood’s newest It Girl is a baggy jeans-wearing homebody with three roommates, seven pets and a complicated family legacy.

    Tapped out.

    • AlexinCT

It sounds like pure bullshit made up to make someone a gurl boss..

    • R C Dean

So you didn’t make it to the part where she does her own hair and makeup because of her many mental disorders? Including she can’t stand people touching her?

    • Ted S.

I tapped out at Timothee Chalamet. Guy comes across as a creep to me.

      • rhywun

        inorite

His antics are kind of repulsive. Celebrity douchebag dialed up to 11.

    • ron73440

I started reading and heard Peter Griffin in my head say, “Oh my God, who the hell cares!”.

    Don Lemon in custody

“Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards,” his attorney Abbe Lowell said in a statement early Friday. “Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done. The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable.”

    • Ted S.

Did they go through his boyfriend’s underwear drawer?

    • UnCivilServant

Are we sure he’s been arrested? I mean, you did reference CNN. That’s not a reputable source of information.

      • DEG

Everything I can find so far references that statement from his lawyer.

      • UnCivilServant

I have found other sources – but I had to get a dig at CNN.

    • AlexinCT

So they are trying to put him in a place where he is gonna have himself a great time?

      • UnCivilServant

Single occupancy cell, no cameras, no internet.

        Starve him of attention.

    • R C Dean

The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable.

Not really. It exists to protect everyone from government persecution for speaking or writing. Not just “journalists” who take certain political stances.

      • UnCivilServant

It also exists to protect the free exercise of religion, which his activities were infringing on. There was no reason for him to conspire, tresspass, and harass with the other people who intruded on that church service.

      • Drake

Also has a bit in their about worship which he violated.

      • The Other Kevin

I really like how Jonathan Turley put it: This wasn’t speech, it was conduct. Those are entirely different things.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

I like Johnathan Turley much of the time. But he has an incredibly punchable face, and often is hard to understand when he’s gurgling on Trump’s balls.

    • rhywun

You and your rabble entourage were asked to leave private property. There is no 1st Amendment protection for trespassing.

      End of story.

    • Suthenboy

If any of that were true it would be correct.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Bwa ha ha! Filming an illegal act you’re taking part in doesn’t give you cover as a journalist. If he’d have just been there and recorded it’d be one thing but he was advocating for it and maybe even helping to organize. He crossed a line.

    • DrOtto

“Journalist Don Lemon…” stated without evidence.

  11. PieInTheSky

A (((trustee))) would negate the suffering of the Palestinians I would not think it to be a good idea.

But it would be fun to have someone at budget meetings pulling a Ron Swanson “slash it slash it slash it.”

  12. rhywun

My goodness, this is a thoroughly unattractive person.

And that is so hard to find in Hollywood.

  13. PieInTheSky

It’s -7° out and windy. I doubt that there will be demonstrations here in the Gulch.

That sounds like a right down uncivilized temperature.

    • R C Dean

The local BoomerProgs colonize an overpass in Santa Fe to wave signs and hang banners. If I run out of other things to do, I might show up with a banner that says “Deport Every Illegal” or somesuch.

Which reminds me – I need to find out what I need to do to get a concealed carry permit in this state.

      • UnCivilServant

        New Mexico?

Be a connected member of the party machine I’d wager.

      • SandMan

I’ve never bothered with a permit, but I don’t carry on person. There is one advantage that a permit allows you to bypass our stupid waiting period, unless they changed that.

      • Sean

Eeeewwww. 7 day waiting period for a firearm purchase in NM.

  14. Suthenboy

“What senator wouldn’t want notification that they’re looking at your phone?” he (sic) said. How about the rest of us, you authoritarian cunt? ”

“You want to take our guns away but exempt yourself? What the hell Charlie? Why do y ou get to keep your guns?”

    “THAT’S DIFFERENT.” – paraphrased Charlie Wrangle Q&A

    • Ownbestenemy

Similar to the license plate readers and mayors wanting them down to protect against ICE..

Never for the citizen, always to protect their grift/deeds/shitiness

      • AlexinCT

All the shit in Minneapolis is basically theatre to distract the American people from the revelation that we as a country are now close to $39 trillion in debt, because for the last 20 years democrats created a shadow economy that is drastically enriched them to the tune of what now amounts to as much as $2 trillion a year, through massive fraud in the social programs at both the fed and state levels. And they have used a good chunk of that money to prevent the tax payers from interfering with their criminal enterprise.

The republicans are NOT the good guys. But the democrats definitely are a cabal of crime syndicates and the bad guys.

The new Monocle is working well on my iPad/Safari.

    That is all. Carry on.

    • rhywun

Same. Running variously on Windows/Firefox and macOS/Safari.

      I like the new counter.

  16. Certified Public Asshat

Are add-on costs for foreign visitors hurting Utah’s national parks?

Philly and Keely Emerson of Northern Ireland have more than 100,000 social media followers who have watched them live the van life through the natural wonders of Europe, Australia and now America.

Things are different for foreign tourists visiting our national lands this year as higher fees target those coming from outside the country. So has it affected Philly and Keely?

“Was it worth it at $80? Yes. Is it worth it now at $250? Yes,” said Philly. “That doesn’t change a percent, you know?”

We didn’t raise the fee enough.

    • Ted S.

They should be charged exorbitant rates for being influencers, not for being foreigners.

      • Nephilium

I could get behind a selfie stick/tripod surcharge.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

        1. Film yourselves living the van life.
        2. Check into a hotel.
        3. Profit.

      • Suthenboy

It’s not just that lot…the network shows are the same. Naked and Afraid? Alone in the wilderness stuff?
didnt the film crew accidentally get some luxury hotel in the background while filming the Bear Grills show?
        It is all scripted

      • The Last American Hero

Now wait a minute – you’re saying they aren’t really naked or afraid?

    • EvilSheldon

When I was up in Zion last month, the number of MENA visitors was…noticeable.

      • Certified Public Asshat

Yeah, I went to Washington last summer to do all 3 parks and even most of the whities were not speaking English. Same at Rocky Mountain the year before.

But I hear foreigners are afraid to travel to the US.

Genetics play a larger part in lifespan than previously thought

Who didn’t know this? My maternal grandmother was an active alcoholic and chain smoker her entire life, and she lived to 91, finally succumbing to dementia.

    • Ownbestenemy

Its canned articles they can regurgitate as needed just before the weekend.

Like seeing “Starship explodes!” with a date on the article being today…though its a atory from 6 months ago.

Its all slop. Through and through

    • AlexinCT

      Who didn’t know this?

Considering how many idiots deny the reality of the XX and the XY chromosome or that marxism is evil, I can see how a large swath of people might not know that genetics matter…. Shit, we can’t even tell people that all societies are not the same.

      • Suthenboy

“Shit, we can’t even tell people that all societies are not the same.”

We cant? Damned, nobody told me. I do it all the. time. Most cultures on this earth are pure garbage.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Previously thought when? Roman times? Seems that’s been known since the old-timey days.

    • PieInTheSky

Who didn’t know this? – look we need to tow the lion and admit that meat is the only thing that lowers lifespan. meat is murder.

      • AlexinCT

My vegan gurl still eats my meat… Does that counter her claims she is vegan?

      • UnCivilServant

        I think it means you’re a vegetable.

      • Gender Traitor

So, Alex, you found yourself a New Age Girl?

    • Fourscore

      I dunno know, man.

All of the people I know my age dried out 40 years ago and either never smoked or quit 50 years ago.

  18. PieInTheSky

Viewing your wife as goonfuel is infinitely more gratifying and true to the nature of love than viewing her as some regrettable means to “reproduction”, and it’s not even close. Augustine was the worst thing to ever happen to the Western tradition.

    https://x.com/gwyrain/status/2016504340588945590

    • AlexinCT

Goonfuel? Is this something like human sperm banks when you see people walking around with swollen cheeks?

      • AlexinCT

        Edging?

      • R C Dean

To be even more accurate, when the gooning state is achieved, the man’s body becomes for all intents and purposes an appendage to his erection.

Uh, that happens whether you’re edging or gooning or whatever.

      • PieInTheSky

point is you need to take sexy pics of your wife and put them on the internet so people can goon to them. Do not miss the point.

      • AlexinCT

I don’t have a wife, and putting pics of all my girlfriends on the web will make them realize they are not the only girlfriend….

      • UnCivilServant

They all run off the same AI on the backend, and know you’ve got multiple sessions open.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Sure, gooning has done the world so much good. Isn’t that when a guy jerks it for hours at a time? If it takes more than five minutes, ten if you’re tired, you’re being self-indulgent.

Just my luck, my 250 million year old salt has expired

    https://x.com/BobGolen/status/2016688289571340656

comments are saying it is the plastic container that expires… we should use glass to store salt.

What is the Official Glibertarian Opinion on throwing away salt past expiration date?

    • AlexinCT

I am still using salt from that pillar they packaged and shipped to me near Sodom and Gammora.

    • Ownbestenemy

If has anti-caking agents…I would toss, otherwise, pure kosher salt never.

I still have my stash (I skipped toliet paper during the Vid) of 25lbs of salt

OFFS. Will they throw all their iPhones into the Bay of Biscay too?

TDS goes global. A much needed reset of the leeching they have practiced for decades. Surprise, surprise – it turns out most of those countries are not frenz with the US at all.

      • WTF

Countries do not have friends. They have allies based on certain common interests. When those interests diverge, so does the nature of the relationship.

    Robert Colvile
    @rcolvile
The gold price has hit $5,295/oz. Gordon Brown sold at $275.

    https://x.com/rcolvile/status/2016560998312776181

this is an interesting question. Should a politician somehow be held accountable for selling a good chunk of a nations gold at an all time low?

    • R C Dean

If by “held accountable”, you mean “drawn and quartered”, then yes.

    • R C Dean

I’m wondering a couple of things about this runup in gold and silver:

      (1) Did the previous methods of controlling these prices simply fail (and there was no market more gamed than precious metals by central banks and governments) or

      (2) Are there central banks/governments who want gold and silver to have this kind of exchange rate for fiat currency? If so, who and why?

      • DEG

On 1, Coffee and Covid claims that prices were artificially suppressed. His evidence? One chart and a lot of fluffing of Trump. I’m skeptical.

      • R C Dean

I’ve watched the money supply relentlessly expand for nearly two decades while the price of gold and silver was essentially flat. At a more tactical level, I have read accounts for truly mysterious doings in various exchanges and markets that all seem to go one way. Put that together with the motivation of central banks/governments to suppress precious metals prices to defend their currencies, plus their capability to do so, and it would be absolutely astounding if the markets haven’t been manipulated.

      • DrOtto

It’s a short squeeze, plain and simple.

      • R C Dean

Could be. If so, it still leaves me wondering, who had the big short positions, and who is squeezing?

      • trshmnstr

        My thoughts:

        – The metals are probably overvalued right now. I reserve the right to be wrong on that one, though.

        – Much of this is Covid money printing catching up with the market. Sustained price inflation in a low interest rate environment means trying anything to preserve value.

        – I don’t know what the equilibrium prices are going to be, but I’m hoping they’re around $3k for gold and $70 for silver.

        – I see this also being related to the BRICS coalition and their desire to get off the dollar.

        – I should’ve bought more silver when i was seriously considering it at 60. I don’t really have enough gold or silver to start selling, but I would be selling my $19 silver right now if I had an appreciable amount of it.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m hoping prices crater to under $70 for gold and under $7 for silver.

I hold $16 silver, but I bought it for the art.

      • Nephilium

        trshmnstr:

I’ve been thinking about calling around to see what trade rate I can get locally for silver/gold.

        Neph . . . not enough

    • Fourscore

The value of gold hasn’t changed but the value of the dollar certainly has.

    • Suthenboy

The value of gold hasn’t changed since the early Middle Ages. What you see is the value of the dollar…which is in fact zero.

On support for the ICE protesters

On the Vietnam Nguyen killing: Things were the same back them. That photo was published without any context to outrage Americans. In fact, what happed was the the police had caught a NVA terrorist who had just set off a bomb killing a policeman wife and children. That policeman may have b been the police chief’s family, I cant remember that detail.
The only thing I thought wrong in that instance was that he shot the guy through the brain instead of the throat and spine. BTW, that is a still taken from movie film. If y ou look around you should be able to find the film. I dont recommend doing that.

Looks like switching browsers may have solved the never-ending issues that started last night. Brave won;t let me comment from my windows laptop at all, and sporadically from the phone. Trying FireFox at the moment. Heads’ up to anyone else having that issue. I cleared my DNS in Brave, Windows, etc… but the problem kept coming back. It’s a Brave problem.

I don’t know. It might just be a me problem at this point. I cleared everything, DNS, sockets, exited and restarted and now let’s see if this comment posts. I may have to just jump over to FireFox, delete Brave and reinstall. Or just finally kick Brave off the island.

      • Ted S.

I was using it the other day on my tablet when it suddenly closed and told me it was updating when I tried to reopen it.

I’ve got automatic updates turned off on my devices.

      • R.J.

It is not doing that. I get prompts to update. So far in a browser comparison, FireFox is really fast and has no issues. Brave is slower at loading Glibs and keeps trying to jump on the wrong DNS, despite being purged repeatedly. Brave still has issues with YouTube so it is about to get thrown out. Again.

In 2022, a Netherlands-based conservation group, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, helped the government of Malawi truck 263 elephants from Liwonde National Park in the south, which had too many elephants, to Kasungu National Park in central Malawi, which had far fewer. The Crypto CEO Who’s Become Enemy No. 1 on Wall StreetCoinbase chief Brian Armstrong is clashing with Jamie Dimon and other bank stewards over the future of finance

Banks say the payouts are effectively the same as the interest on bank accounts, and since banks offer much less yield—typically under 0.1% in a checking account—they worry that the upshot will be that consumers will shift their money in droves into crypto. That, they say, will compromise community banks and lending to businesses. Armstrong, and others in the crypto world, say the free market should reign and that banks can simply pay higher interest rates to compete with stablecoins or get into the stablecoin business themselves.

All the replies were some version of “That’s so cute”.

Those of you in snow country may laugh at these torrid temperatures, but we haven’t seen anything this down here for decades. Thankfully only a few snow showers forecast during that period. The sleet-topped 6″ snowfall from last week has now set like concrete and is almost as hard to remove. Knocking back the marmorated stinkbugs is definitely a plus, although they’ve not been really that pesty since the initial wave died down. Firefox.

I’m also getting 405 errors eating my comments.

      • R.J.

I lost a couple of comments. I posted help for chrome/Brave below, I will see if I can put together basic instructions for Firefox. Are you using Windows?

Also it if really goes South, just email me here: BrusselsSproutHead@proton.me.

      • R.J.

The comments are trying to post at the wrong DNS, and vanish. They are lost, screaming in the void. Or at least that is what I think.
To clear the FireFox DNS cache, open a blank tab and put this in: about:networking#dns. Clear it all out.
I can’t see if you can clear socket connections, but on that same menu you might as well refresh sockets (the selection above DNS), as that can cause an issue. Then exit Firefox.
And Windows likes to keep it’s own DNS info, clear that out too by bringing up a CMD line and typing ipconfig/flushdns. Then restart before you open anything up again.

      • R.J.

If you are using a Mac, it’s more paperwork to flush in internal computer DNS list. Go to Terminal ands start with:

        sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

        then

        sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

And enter your password to complete. I seem to remember you said something about using a Mac a while back.

      • Common Tater

Thanks, I’ll try that after I log out.

Oddly, I wasn’t getting any of this yesterday.

      • R.J.

DNS stuff seems like voodoo sometimes. The change to our site hosting location has to propagate through a jillion private networks before it is done, and that is what we have been experiencing the past few days. Some browsers and PC combinations handle it better than others.

  31. Red Pill Matt

At work, I get “site not found” now for this site with Dreamhost as the host. Works fine on my phone

    • R.J.

Dreamhost is the old host. Your browser is defaulting to the old DNS. You must clear out everything. Go here (if using chrome. For Brave just put “brave” where it says “chrome”)
      Chrome://net-internals/#dns
Clear it, then move up to sockets (it will be visible on a side menu) and clear/close them all. Exit the browser and restart.
In some cases you may need to clear the dns stored in windows, that is a CMD line function of ipconfig/flushdns.

I had to do all of that. It did finally resolve.

    The new Kremlinology

When President Donald Trump watched a live feed of the U.S. military operation that captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was not in the room. Just two days earlier, she had posted photos of herself on a beach in Hawaii at sunset practicing yoga, sending out a new year’s greeting for “peace.”

That she appeared to be on vacation in the run-up to such a high-stakes, ultra-sensitive military operation seemed to underscore the extent to which she has been sidelined by the administration.

But there she was on Wednesday, at an election center in Fulton County, Georgia, as FBI agents conducted a raid seeking ballots from the 2020 presidential election, which Trump has falsely claimed he won.

Gabbard’s presence baffled national security experts and raised questions about whether she is seeking new relevancy in the eyes of a president who had soured on her.

“Even if there was some criminal activity in the 2020 election in Georgia — despite repeated investigations that show there was none — it’s still a purely domestic problem — not one involving foreign nations,” a former national security official said. “The director of national intelligence has nothing to do with this.”

She was obviously there to whisk away the Russian ballots.

Over the past year, Gabbard has clashed with two of her counterparts in the administration, FBI Director Kash Patel and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, in what officials described as a struggle for influence inside the administration.

In October, the FBI strongly objected to a proposal by some House lawmakers to strip the bureau of its authority over counterintelligence operations and hand them over to Gabbard’s office, warning that the plan would sow confusion and undercut national security. In the end, the FBI retained its primary authority over counterintelligence.

This is what happens when you can’t just go in and fire everybody

President Donald Trump is suing the IRS and Treasury Department for $10 billion, as he accuses the federal agencies of a failure to prevent a leak of the president’s tax information to news outlets between 2018 and 2020.

The suit, filed in a Florida federal court Thursday, includes the president’s sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. and the Trump organization as plaintiffs.

The filing alleges that the leak of Trump and the Trump Organization’s confidential tax records caused “reputational and financial harm, public embarrassment, unfairly tarnished their business reputations, portrayed them in a false light, and negatively affected President Trump, and the other Plaintiffs’ public standing.”

In 2024, former IRS contractor Charles Edward Littlejohn of Washington, D.C. — who worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, a defense and national security tech firm — was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to leaking tax information about Trump and others to news outlets.

What the hell, let the taxpayers be responsible.
