    Bat Boy:
    Pie doesn’t fit?

  2. Gustave Lytton

From ded thred. I find it hilarious that none of the arguments against Musk’s security detail carrying in federal building is because they’re gun free zones and inherently safe.

    • Chafed

I missed it but I would think we (America) would want armed security around him at all times because of the national security risk.

  3. Ted S.

    10 Down is BUCCEES.

    • Ted S.

And since 12 Across ends in E, it has to be SAKE SMITH.

  4. Ted S.

Neither BRETTL (or FLORIDAMAN) nor WINSTONSMOM fits for 8 Down….

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

      JHTFC.

    • Evan from Evansville

“A mercury spill Saturday… Officials from the Mansfield Fire Department, the EPA, the Health Department and Richland County EMA were on scene Monday morning.”

Good for them to respond with haste in such an emergency.

    • Ownbestenemy

Good ole days you spray some carpet cleaner on it and blot it up and moved on with your life.

    • Tres Cool

      Wow.
As someone that often tests for mercury, and when I was young handled free mercury- thats just a giant overreaction.
“…dangerous and praised the homeowners for notifying authorities.”

These people take a bigger risk on their health each time they get in the car and drive to Kroger than any of the mercury vapor (in that situation) can ever cause.

    • Threedoor

Think of those with degrees in OSHA and public safety

    • Gustave Lytton

      I miss mercury thermometers.

  5. Evan from Evansville

Ooooh, it’s good to see these again. I’m tremendously bad at these, I fear, but always fun to see ’em.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, U, Ted’S., and homey!

      • Gender Traitor

Cold! 🥶 Only 36 degrees (“feels like 28.”) And clear, so I’ll likely have frost on my windshield. 😒 How are you?

      • UnCivilServant

        I guess I’m okay.

Had breakfast, getting ready to log in to work.

Annoyed at snow in april. I put cardboard to the curb and don’t want it to be mush when the garbagemen recyclingmen? pick it up and send it to the landfill.

      • Ted S.

You don’t have wheelie bins to hold the recycling?

      • UnCivilServant

The boxes of boxes never fit in the bins. I’m also not sure where I left the key to the padlock I put on the bin to stop my neighbors from throwing trash in it.

      • Gender Traitor

At that point, does it become decycling?

      • UnCivilServant

admittedly, I don’t know it goes to the landfill, but the odds are they just toss them in.

  9. Ted S.

    Who’s funding these jobs?

Arts and culture jobs in Mid-Hudson grow, according to report

    Let’s read further….

Despite that expansion, the report warns of mounting challenges. Federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts dropped 47.7 percent in the region between fiscal years 2024 and 2025, falling from $735,000 to $384,500. The number of grants declined from 34 to 15.

The report, Mid-Hudson’s Creative Spark, calls on state leaders to increase investment in the arts, including a proposal to raise operating support for cultural organizations through the New York State Council on the Arts and to further integrate arts funding into regional economic development programs.

Ding ding ding, government welfare. And there’s no mention of what sort of “art” and “culture” we’re being forced to fund.

  10. Tres Cool

  12. Donny Three-Fingers (KJ5GQR)

Good morning! Just getting the telescope ready to go back out after the upcoming week of rain. Due to said rain, I will finally be able to get the astrophotography article written. The picture files are large (around 20mb as jpeg). I am hosting them on Astrobin.

New camera, replaced USB cables, replaced and upgraded the power distribution box, cleaned the optics, and have been learning PixInsight for the processing.

    • Beau Knott

Cool! What do you have for a telescope?
In days long past I’ve had a 10″ and later a 12″ dobsonian. Never really had seriously dark skies, unfortunately.

  13. UnCivilServant

I forget how spoiled I am when I get to use Texas Instruments Datasheets.

I’m trying to read this Crystalfontz datasheet and my head hurts. It feels like the information to get my understanding from where it is to where I can use the datasheet is missing.

    • Donny Three-Fingers (KJ5GQR)

I get it. This stuff has so much potential, but obscure documentation on what to install, in which order, and process workflow. But, it is the same sw NASA uses for their images.

    • Ted S.

At least Crystalfontz sounds like something in English as opposed to the rest of the Chinesium company names.

      • UnCivilServant

Well, they are a US company. Admittedly, based out of Washington State, but still in the US.
