Theyre a weird mix of client state, ally, motherland, and that one kid in the friend group who is always making us do stupid things, but we cant do anything about it because his dad is our dad’s boss.

Eh. You really need to start pruning your information sources. Like the one who told you that the hotel shooter didn’t bring a shotgun, only a .380.

      • Ted S.

You need to stop being so credulous. Anything that fits your (and this is the Woke Right in general, not just you) world view, like hundreds of US troops getting killed storming the beaches of Yemen, immediately gets posted as gospel truth, while anything that doesn’t is either ignored or treated as “this can’t possibly be true”.

I remember the first time people suggested Russia had brought in North Korean troops to help fight in Ukraine, you had people arguing these could only be part of Russia’s ethnic Korean minority.

And when proven wrong, the response is, well, I was just asking questions….

This kind of intellectual dishonesty needs to be pointed out over and over, just like John Brennan and the Hunter Biden laptop.

“On Wednesday, former Vice President Kamala Harris became the latest Democrat to seemingly advocate for “expanding” the high court’s number of justices as a means of toppling the court’s conservative majority. While speaking on a call with the group known as Win with Black Women, the California leftist suggested her party should hold a “no bad idea brainstorm” in which participants consider implementing radical proposals such as court-packing and granting statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. once Democrats retake power.”

That’s much wrong in one paragraph.

Similar proposals from non-leftist politicians in other countries consistently give the Goodthinkful Class the vapors as undemocratic interference with the judiciary.

    • R C Dean

Naturally, nobody seems interested in the critical detail:

How big was it? Actual grenade size, in which case, who cares?

Hundreds of pounds of high explosive necessary for cracking a dam? Seems unlikely.

      • R.J.

Exactly. I have had it up to here
        *Points tentacle at green forehead
with cops exaggerating everything they find. When my friend PK died, the cops that went in the house reported that he had a “cache of weapons” to his brother. I went to look at it. It was a box of broken penknives he was restoring, and an old Red Ryder BB gun. This is a tempest in a teapot unless I see a man-sized grenade.

      • EvilSheldon

The thing that makes me most sad about dying, is that I won’t be able to read the police reports about my ‘arsenal’ or get to see the pictures of all the guns laid out on my bed…

It was the biggest crime of the last fifty years, and everyone had to get in on the act.

      • WTF

I might be persuaded to go with JI’s take. A couple of rednecks got ahold of a grenade and decided to blow it off in the water, maybe get some fish. The one they got just didn’t go off.

Nonprofit Crackdown: Feds target the liberal dark money infrastructure

Per walks? Long prison times? Until and unless I see consequences, I don’t believe it’s not just brushing it back under the rug.

    • AlexinCT

I think the most important and immediate goal is to end the money flow. But I am with you that I want heads to roll for this shit.

    • juris imprudent

Congress appropriated the funds. The Executive disbursed them in accordance with that. This is what makes government so beautiful – who are you going to hold accountable?

      • juris imprudent

Sure – you, an army and all of America’s voters.

      • R C Dean

The Executive disbursed them in accordance with that.

One wonders. Especially if the money was, err, redirected, to purposes not explicitly stated by Congress.

Such as, you know, political contributions.

      • juris imprudent

Even then Mr. Dean, it would be NGOs that violated their tax-free status, not the people in government that gave them money in the first place.

JFC, it’s not like I’m saying there is nothing wrong with what happened – just that we can’t fantasize about what it will take to fix it.

      • R C Dean

        Not so fast there, JI.

If the people approving the payments had knowledge, or even reason to believe, that they would be spent on things not approved by Congress, well, you’ve got a running start on some federal felonies.

I can fantasize about anything I want.

  5. UnCivilServant

Newsom tries to find ways to fix deficit, facing a multi-year shortfall of $35 billion

    Have you tried cutting spending?

    • AlexinCT

Democrats ALWAYS feel the problem is that they are not taxing the serfs enough. Talking about cutting spending hurts their pocketbooks. Spending, and especially idiotic nebulous social services spending, is needed to give them opportunities for graft. Cutting spending gives them a pay cut. So never gonna happen unless it is done to them. And then they will burn it down out of spite.

      • SarumanTheWoefullyIgnorant

That’s the beauty of Modern Monetary Theory; the excuse to create as much money as you want and spend what you want without ever having to worry about paying it back.

      • (((Jarflax

In some fields the way you create a theory is by examining everything you already know and coming up with an explanation for it all that is falsifiable but not yet falsified. In politics adjacent fields the way you come up with a theory is to ask the people paying for it what they want it to say and then writing that. MMT is a perfect theory! It declares that runaway Government spending is good in and of itself no matter how corrupt and inefficient it is. The minor details that it contradicts every observation of real world effects ever made is something only a loser with no real understanding would find important.

      • AlexinCT

That’s the beauty of Modern Monetary Theory

      • UnCivilServant

They’ve reached the point of running out of other people’s money.

The cuts will come even if they don’t want to, simply because the accounts are empty and there’s nothing to pay people with.

      • R C Dean

UnCiv, they are nowhere close to running out of other people’s money. That won’t happen until currency collapse.

The feds won’t run out of money until then, and in no universe do the feds not bail out the states and cities.

“A promiscuous Daily Mail editor known to “disrespect women” was so hated among his female subordinates that he drove them to smear “poop onto the walls” of the newsroom’s restroom in protest, according to a shocking new lawsuit….

The veteran reporter sued the outlet for allegedly subjecting her to “relentless, severe, and pervasive gender discrimination” by editor Daniel Jones – a well-known problem in the office that higher-ups failed to do anything about, she alleged in the suit….

Women at the publication were so fed up with Jones’ behavior – and the tabloid’s inability to do anything about it – that they took to defecating on top of toilets and smearing feces on walls of the restroom in protest, the court doc alleges…

About a month into her position at the new job, Garvey alleged that Jones would frequently yell at her and order her to “stop talking.”

In one instance, “Jones jumped out of his chair, slammed his desk, and yelled at Plaintiff [Garvey] while only inches away from her face,” according to the suit.

The real estate reporter also said Jones would often complain about her choice of photos of realtors in her articles, persuading her to use photos of female realtors over male realtors and then to highlight “attractive” female realtors over male realtors.”

An account named “bronxiemthope” posted a video telling viewers “There’s nothing you can tell us about her that’s going to make us dislike her.”

The wife of a mayor who preaches “the warmth of collectivism” seems less concerned with building a big tent.

I’ve recently found even more radical material on what appears to be Duwaji’s Spotify account, where two playlists dedicated to anti-Israel anthems were curated in the days after October 7. On Tuesday afternoon, I reached out to the mayor’s office for comment. They declined, but by Wednesday, the account had been made private.

The first playlist, titled “hungry but sexy for palestine,” features songs like “Amrikkka,” “Intifada,” and one called “Ana Bakrah Israel,” which translates into “I Hate Israel.” Another number titled “Rajaoui Filistini,” a 2019 song popularized by Moroccan soccer fans that has boomed in popularity the last few years, asks for God’s protection “from the darkness of betrayal/oppression, and from the Jews who are greedy for you.” The second playlist, called “p2p Palestine 2 Pree—DC protest trip,” appears to have been created as a soundtrack for the January 13, 2024, March on Washington for Gaza. One song, added on the day of the protest, is titled “FREE PALESTINE.” It is a short song that manages to pack multiple blood libels and death wishes to Israel in less than three minutes. The most repeated line is “Fuck Israel, Israel a bitch.” Other lyrics include:”

Stop giving people who spout gibberish like this any attention, the media.

“Despite Presidents historically avoiding domestic political hits while abroad, Trump also took time during the interview to slam Democratic Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden – and reveal the new nickname he had for their party.

‘I came up with a new name,’ Trump said, adding that he wasn’t sure if he should share it.

    He then did.

‘Dumacrats,’ he said. ‘Because they’re dumb, they’re dumb. It’s d-u-m. I got rid of the B. So, you’re only changing one letter, right? E goes and the U comes.'”

“Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Nithya Raman wanted to ban backyard barbecues for residents during certain high fire danger days across the city.

Raman introduced a motion Wednesday directing city officials to examine emergency restrictions on grilling during Red Flag Warning days, when high winds and dry conditions significantly increase wildfire danger across Los Angeles.

The proposal specifically asks officials to consider possible limits on backyard barbecues, fire pits and other open flames in residential neighborhoods during those high-risk weather events.”

      So not as retarded

Notice they do not want to actually do the work to clean up the material that can burn… No they want to inconvenience the regulars so they can keep pleasing the fucking environuts.

      • AlexinCT

And these crooks still act as if the fires that wrecked the city happened because of climate shit instead of because of an arsonist leftist tool all crazy about environmentalism.

      • R C Dean

        Still retarded.

How many fires have actually been started by people barbecuing or even using fire pits? Especially compared to fires started by homeless people and druggies?

Is this another example of Lenin’s claim the capitalists will sell the commies the rope to hang the capitalists with?

Seriously, it’s like we keep ignoring the lessons indicating we need to not only decouple from the CCP China, but start treating them like they are at war with us, because they have been at war with us since Tiananmen. Yes, we played the CCP spies and had them steal our F-35 stuff and piss away billions on the non stealth J-20 (and there are tons of such other stories), and China still can’t manufacture complex aircraft engines (especially the military use ones), so why do we keep helping them get there.

      • AlexinCT

Our civilian aircraft engines are better than their most advanced military ones.

      • Sensei

Yes. But it’s not like they can’t obtain them covertly.

Their super duper current generation fighter has engines that need frequent overhaul compared to the US. It doesn’t get much play in MSM of course.

Russians have the same issues and the Chinese designs are based on them. I assume they’ve both stolen the metallurgy at this point, but for whatever reason can’t duplicate it at scale.

      • AlexinCT

Stealing low tech shit and replicating it is easy. Doing it with super high tech if you have not put in the effort to get there yourself, seems to so far have never panned out. That is why China cant do aircraft/rocket engines, radar, or military grade chips. Yes Taiwan is about Xi’s ego, but also cause they NEED that 3nm or less chip capability to really compete. I would not at all be surprised those extra “commercial” engines end up in military aircraft. They would be more reliable and perform better than the CCP’s best military home grown crap.

“Feminist comic Margaret Cho says she turned down a plum part in HBO’s smash hit Heated Rivalry over fears she would be detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Cho, 57, made the claim on the I Never Liked You podcast last week, despite being born in San Francisco. She blamed her outspoken hatred for Donald Trump as to why she would ever be on the agency’s radar.”

She first explained how the show she received a script for was ‘shot in Canada’.

‘I was, like, so scared because I’m so vocal about hating ICE and hating this administration.

‘I was like, “I will get detained at the border and I will be put in ICE detention if I go.””

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is taking a page from other blue states to combat a housing shortage, proposing that Illinois take some control away from locals.

The governor and his allies in the statehouse have introduced legislation that would remove some zoning control from municipalities to clear a path for faster development of multiunit housing.

Why would anybody object to that?
