    World Cup starts today.

Hoping for South Africa to beat the Putos.

    • Rat on a train

I hope the Euros appreciate our weather.

      • Certified Public Asshat

        Our air conditioning you mean.

    • rhywun

I hope the fans brought vuvuzelas.

      • Sean

        Evil.

      • Rat on a train

        also thundersticks

      • Threedoor

        I had a vuvuzela as a kid.

I couldn’t get it to make any noose other than a weak farting sound.

EDITED: You know how I mentioned the other day that the family of Karmelo Anthony was living high on the hog from the proceeds of the fundraiser? Well, here’s the receipt. Not actually fraudulent since the disclaimer stated funds would be used for legal expenses and other needs, and remember that he was represented by a public defender. “Transportation” means new cars, in this context. [I’m backing away from the struck-out text after reading ROAT’s linked article. Apologies and thanks.]

Some non-zero number of contributors knew exactly what was going on and contributed to indirectly reward the murder of a white kid.

    • rhywun

escalating threats to their safety and well-being

      Doubt.

And yes, they’re starting another one. Can’t let that grift die. They should use some of it to pay the vicious crowds demonstrating in support of the murderer for their time.

      • Fourscore

…and yet, black kids are being murdered almost daily in Chi-town and nary a mention in the news.

        Can’t help but wonder…

    • Gdragon

“and remember that he was represented by a public defender.”
      ————

I thought that I saw a post yesterday where Brochettaward said that was incorrect and that Anthony did not go to trial with a public defender after all. I don’t believe that he provided a link but he provided a name, Michael Howard (the search engines and myself wish that it had been John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt but I still remembered it LOL) .

    • Threedoor

      Not surprised.
If you started a fund with the explicit stated purpose of killing white kids and their MAGA parents it would reach millions in a few days.

      • The Last American Hero

In Virginia, they call that the AG’s election fund.

    • DrOtto

The article assumes he was playing a whackjob. I offer up that he was a whackjob, and wasn’t playing.

    • rhywun

Huh, the Dems don’t have a lock on “whackjob” after all.

      • Threedoor

Remembers Lady G’s top trying to make “wingnut” a thing?

    • EvilSheldon

NR, like most establishment Republicans, loves nothing more than an eloquent, statesmanlike concession speech.

“Lindsey is a childless warmonger trying to avoid being blackmailed for being a homo by sending Our Boys to every war he can dream of.”

I couldn’t have said it better.

      • R C Dean

How many years has it been since you could blackmail somebody for being a homo?

      • Threedoor

People still believe it about Larry Craig.

        Lindsys case is actually believable.

      • rhywun

It is pretty funny but yeah, probably was always a losing strategy.

    • DEG

I watched the Tom Woods interview with Lynch.

There isn’t much of a difference between Lynch and Graham.

      • Threedoor

        Listened to that too.
        Annoying talking points.

    • Drake

      Grandpa is fantasizing again.

Daily ray of sunshine, I am a grandfather for a second time. Adaline [of House Imprudent] was born last night at 8:02pm CDT!

      • Fourscore

Congrats to the parents. JI is just an innocent bystander.

Like being with the person when they bought a winning lottery ticket. In any case, you’ll be a great grandfather, I just know it.

Poor child. They should have gotten the mother to a better time zone.

Hoe all is well aside from the miscalibrated clock.

      • Ted S.

Because nobody in Eastern Time has a screwed-up sleep schedule. 😝

      • UnCivilServant

I would still have my problems in any time zone.

      • Threedoor

I feel the same way about all of you east coasters and your jacked up clocks.

      • Rat on a train

  4. Sean

I’m 3 solid rants at work into my day.

    >.>

      • Sean

        Mid level, I suppose.

  5. Evan from Evansville

Today finishes my short work ‘week,’ this time with five days off before I return. I’ve a neurologist appt on Tues, and something on Mon, but otherwise time to go through my inbox and hunt fresh work leads, of which there are at least a few since I updated my resume. We shall see.

About 11.5 walked at work yesterday, more in line with my Walmart days, but this involves far more lifting. Am actually sore in a spot or two. Time for me to get ready and take it to the hoop.

    • UnCivilServant

It makes perfect sense when you realize you are an NPC in a simulation designed to torment me. The programming of other NPCs flaking out is all part of the slopcode running this place.

    • DEG

I think he’s a better driver than the average person on the road when I drove back from PA last Tuesday.

      • Sean

I had two retards stop in the roundabout by my house this morning.

        🙁

    • Rat on a train

Yesterday I had someone stop in a merge lane in a 65 mph zone with traffic flowing. Idiots are out there.

    • UnCivilServant

They sell oversized mufflers and spoilers to Honda drivers and entice them to race so they can be arrested and the cars forfeited to fund the task force’s operations.

I’m going to start calling people who piss me off ‘Bassoons’.

      • PutridMeat

You can pound your enemies with this [fagot].

We really aren’t doing phrasing anymore and no-one told me.

      • Rat on a train
      • Ted S.

You’re doing phrasing if you’re using a Fagott.

      • Gdragon

“I’m going to start calling people who piss me off ‘Bassoons’.”

        ———–

It is a good one, I have been using “Russian Bassoon” for almost 20 years now since I first read “The Master and Margarita” and wondered why they kept on calling Koroviev “Fagott”.

  6. DrOtto

I don’t think I can watch another Spurs game. How do you blow that big of a lead? NY didn’t lead the entire game till the final couple of minutes. I think I’d rather watch another of Trumps victory speeches on Iran.

    • Sensei

Funny – most of my office is lacking sleep, hoarse and happy.

I could care less about basketball, but it has ****ed my commute home nicely. Can’t wait for World Cup to make it even worse.

      • Gdragon

“NY didn’t lead the entire game till the final couple of minutes.”

Ah, The Mario Kart Technique LOL.

Despite all of the Yankees caps NYC is still a basketball town. They must be very excited.

      • DrOtto

@Gdragon – the Spurs were up 29 points at one point, it wasn’t simply NY biding their time. It took genuine bad playing to squander last night’s lead.

      • Gdragon

“the Spurs were up 29 points at one point, it wasn’t simply NY biding their time. It took genuine bad playing to squander last night’s lead.”
        ———

Just to clarify I didn’t believe that it was an intentional tactic by the Knicks, hence the “LOL” at the end of the comment.

If you’re asking yourself “Is gdragon joking?” the answer is probably “yes” 😉

      • DrOtto

Well, your strategy is pretty much how the Knicks previous wins have been in this series, last night was just extreme.

      • Ted S.

If you’re asking yourself “Is gdragon joking?” the answer is probably “yes” 😉

Followed up with “Is Gdragon funny?” to which the answer is not as clearly “yes”. 😜

      • Gdragon

“I am always joking around but I am never lying” is the way that I describe it 😉

      • The Last American Hero

Can someone please explain how a World Cup game makes traffic any worse than an NFL game? The stadium only holds the same 60-80k fans.

      • Ted S.

Soccer isn’t American, so when it does the same things traditionally American sports do those things suddenly, magically become evil.

    • Raven Nation

NBA legend Charles Barkley branded the San Antonio Spurs “the dumbest basketball team in the history of civilisation”

      • DrOtto

And how does he feel about the women of San Antonio?

    • rhywun

I couldn’t care less either but I did watch the second half or so. It did get quite exciting.

Can’t wait for World Cup to make it even worse.

I am traveling down there in a couple weeks and almost freaked when I remembered that. Luckily, there are no games in NYC that week.

    • Evan from Evansville

T-Swift going to previous game without her K-Man riled ’em up.

I find no pleasure in watching basketball. It’s a largely useless sport, with what made it semi-interesting being stripped away. The points don’t fucking matter cuz no one even tries to play D. Oh! 125-118 for an ‘average’ game, with each shot largely meaning nothing. A ‘good’ hockey game may have a total of 50 shots over the course of the entire game. Maybe 5 or 6 goals. I won’t get into the obvious silliness of baseball, which is obv totes mcgoats superior. Snark aside, baseball does have an advantage other US sports don’t: The viewer, and players, have actual time to *think.* Reveals much personality when everything isn’t just act/react reflex. Also, Matt Chapman, only player in any Big 4 US sport to directly die because of an injury on the field/court. Think about it.

      • Gdragon

*Ray Chapman. Matt still plays for the Giants.

The district paid $260,000 for “professional development” sessions between 2022 and 2025 with a UC Berkeley project that hawks lessons on “divesting from systems of policing,” “drag pedagogy,” penning custom “land acknowledgments” for classrooms and making anti-capitalist signage as a classroom activity.”

“In Albany, unaccompanied teens are getting categorically banned from bowling alleys, roller skating rinks, and even grocery stores — sending them onto the streets or back to their screens for entertainment….

It’s hard to imagine more wholesome settings than bowling alleys and roller skating rinks. But the Times Union reported that business owners think teens are disruptive and noisy, and say they’re more likely to get into fights or shoplift.”

Because they won’t enforce the law because those kids don’t look like the ones in the article?

      • rhywun

I would say that is NOT normal. Probably some dumpy building not being maintained properly.

Gates drew scrutiny for appearances in the so-called Epstein files released by the dead sex trafficker’s estate and by the Justice Department, including pictures showing him standing next to women whose identities are unknown.

Anyone heard from Swiss? Did he just go on vacation or is he sick?

It is the lack of precise, timely operation of this site that makes his absence most notable?

No, I saw a note that he has to abruptly leave a few weeks ago. Of course I worry about him.

You need to watch out for those narrow gazes.

    Send it to China

A CalMatters review of federal data from the Environmental Protection Agency found 14 facilities stored methyl methacrylate in California in 2024. That year, four of them stored amounts that are similar to or greater than the amount that nearly caused a disaster near the GKN Aerospace facility in Garden Grove.

Community advocates say the Garden Grove emergency illustrates how gaps in regulation and weak oversight allow dangerous chemicals to threaten the lives and property of thousands of people.

Let those Chinese slave laborers make everything for us.

“This could happen anywhere,” said Ivana Castellanos, toxics program manager with Physicians for Social Responsibility Los Angeles. “There’s so many facilities that have toxic chemicals … and it’s very easy for (something) to go wrong.”

Woo hoo! The House rejected the FISA extension. Let it die!

Sadly that will get recycled in short order, so only a gap, not a complete lapse. They can do that when they want to, just like they can kill something we all want.

Sorry my alien friend. This will come back again, so the government will still be able to listen in on alien transmissions to Earth.

It does anger me so. I am hoping that the rabid TDS causes this to die. But no doubt every one of these whiny Congress lizards will come together in the end and pass it.

“‘Find Some Kids’: How Health Officials Drummed Up Fake Support for Tobacco Bans in Massachusetts Towns

State health officials scouted towns, scripted hearings, recruited teen witnesses, and celebrated each ban as a “win.”

Local boards of health are banning nicotine in their towns and cities by imposing “Nicotine-Free Generation” (NFG) policies. These forbid anyone born after a specific date from buying any kind of tobacco in their lifetime, ever. In Massachusetts, the specific date is typically either January 1, 2004, or January 1, 2005. The bans usually cover not just cigarettes but all nicotine products, regardless of their level of health risk, including cigars, nicotine pouches, vapes, hookah, and pipe tobacco.”

“The White House has issued a scathing message to Los Angeles as it pulled the plug on funding for the city’s largest homeless agency.

The newly created Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, led by Vice President JD Vance, said “the fraud and corruption ends today” as it wiped out federal cash flow to Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.”

LAHSA and much of the city’s homelessness spending fall under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles City Council’s Homelessness and Housing Committee, which is chaired by mayoral candidate Councilmember Nithya Raman.

    Something something appearance of impropriety

ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones on Wednesday refused to answer questions during her testimony before the House Administration Committee regarding allegations of the organization funneling foreign campaign donations to Democratic candidates in federal elections, asserting her Fifth Amendment right.

Wallace-Jones vowed not to answer any questions during the hearing in an earlier op-ed published by The Washington Post. She held firm to her pledge on Wednesday, refusing to answer even a question about her name from Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.).

“Invoking the Fifth Amendment is not an admission, or even an insinuation, of guilt. It is not a retreat,” Wallace-Jones argued in the op-ed, continuing “it is the only reasonable response to a proceeding that from the beginning has been about harassing a political opponent’s fundraising platform, not genuine oversight.”

    NUH-UH SHUT UP!
