Heya Banjos- how YOU doin’
Not bad. Pretty good actually.
One day no one is going to give a damn about Epstein; what a glorious day that will be.
Our Masters here in NM are milking Epstein/Zorro Ranch for all the airtime they can get. There’s a Truth Committee! It’s issuing subpoenas! Newsreaders are rolling out their Very Concerned voices!
Tedious doesn’t even scratch the surface.
I am curious why a corporation was buying lotto tickets and how it won 2 jackpots.
At some point lottery tickets do have a positive expected RoI.
Was Epstein a corporation, of just a dude with an LLC?
Trump FDA moves to improve food security, bolster supply chain through ‘traceability’
So, a boondoggle.
As with every government improvement?
Watch “Clarkson’s Farm” for the farce that is “traceability”.
The article mentions cantaloupe recalls, lunch meat recalls, spinach recalls, etc. Every packing facility is USDA inspected. Perhaps the inspections are shit. Maybe the USDA should be shut down.
Venezuela Signs Deal with General Electric to Restore Nation’s Power Grid
Socialism would have worked had the US not intervened. This is proof.
Today I remembered General Electric never officially went out of business.
They still bedevil the world with short-lifespan ovens and microwaves.
My alarm clock is GE branded.
26 years old and going strong.
Thanks to GE, I have learned more about how to repair a microwave than I ever cared to know.
They were split in two: General Acoustic and Specific Electric.
Supreme Court To Hear Major Case On Trump Admin’s Detention Of Illegal Aliens
See you have all those illegals and yet I have to jump to all those hoops to get a visa.
We’d offer to vouch for you Pie, but that probably wouldn’t help.
“These degenerates vouch for him? Denied!”
one thing that annoyed me was the need to have US contact. I put what every Romanian does, a hotel in the area I am going. Hope I don’t have any issues. I should not. But who the hell knows.
also why the fuck do I have to put in all my social media.
They wanna see your onlyfans.
You should write up your experience for those of us who’ve never had to get a Visa.
I’ve only ever done non-Visa travel internationally.
The experience is probably US different for any other visas
UCS, I worked once with a South African who was here on a work visa and was attempting to transition to permanent residence (green card). He would regale me with the hoops he had to jump through. My comment at the time was, if a native-born citizen was subjected to even one-tenth of what he was going through there would a fresh revolution.
I’m sure the hoops for a tourist visa are different from a green card.
the tourist visa has just a few things not that complicated really. But still a bit annoying.
I’m sure the hoops for a tourist visa are different from a green card.
Oh absolutely. Although back then there was no social media disclosure.
They want to see if you have any “death to America” in your history.
I had to get a visa to visit China. I don’t remember the questions being very intrusive, but it was 25 years ago.
Rhy – can I visit China?
CCP – We already have all your information anyway…
Visiting the embassy or whatever they called it was eye-opening. (You were required to apply in person.) It had the feel of the DMV combined with Big Brother.

The Moloch problem:

(Pat posted this in the PM linx, but it bears repeating here)
Did China visa before covid. Same, but there were visa services that did the in person drop off and pickup (you weren’t required to do it yourself).you do have to use the consulate or embassy in your region and no other, and you had to submit a round trip plane ticket as proof of planned trip. But the visa was openended and good for 10 years and you didn’t have to actually travel on the planned trip. Refundable ticket and cancel after printing out the itinerary.
I had to get an Indian work visa, to attend meetings and such. Not a lot of hoop to jump though but they wanted to know if I’d been to Pakistan recently, or ever. Also if parents grandparents were Pakistanis. Only question I got “wrong” was religion, they didn’t offer “none” or “atheist” so I just put Christian and left it at that. The process was all online and quick (minus the buggy web site) and I had my visa in a couple of days.
I’d get dented for not having social media.
I guess this comment section kinda counts.
If we are not allowed to hold them in camps, I am perfectly happy with flying them to their native country and kicking them out the door. What do you say, Dems?
I’d be okay if we didn’t even bother to land.
I don’t care what country we fly them to. Immigration law apparently says they can’t be here. I doubt it says they have to be sent back to where they claim to be from.
I doubt it says that either but the left is already bitching that we DON’T send them to their country of birth so why not do that to at least shut them up about it.
Our government hates people who can afford airfare.

A former juvenile prosecutor and a current member of the city council, George is running as a progressive Democratic candidate. Her campaign has won the support of the city’s left flank, having drawn some comparisons to the progressive policies of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, with a campaign focus on expanding public childcare funding, rent control, and crime reduction.
Meanwhile, at-large D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie is running as a business-friendly candidate heavily aligned with outgoing Bowser’s legacy.
George leads in the tally by around 16 percent.
So… DC will continue to be a shithole?
Translation: a campaign focus on punishing the middle class and rewarding her grifting friends. Crime reduction, if it happens, will be in spite of their natural hatred of law enforcement.
“So… DC will continue to be a shithole?”
Tell me who lives there and I’ll tell you if it will be a shithole.
Protip: there will be zero reduction of crime.
I never got a registration wall from the Epoch Times.

“Trump delays Jay Clayton’s nomination for intel director to try to push Congress on voting bill”
———-
I suppose that is one way to describe it. I think that I might have said:
“Trump says that The SAVE Act should just be held hostage unless/until the FBI is permitted to use FISA to spy on American citizens without a warrant”
Now that isn’t fair; FISA issues warrants to spy on Americans – that is the actual function of the court. The lie is that it enables FOREIGN surveillance (which has absolutely no warrant requirement).
Right, but the concern is that some American citizens are going to be caught up in that no-warrants foreign surveillance net, no? Do I really need to say “Warrants aren’t completely disappearing here, not every single American closet will be thrown open and searched without a warrant if this passes”?
As though warrant requirements matter, when the courts just rubber-stamp any warrant the cops ask for.
So, the FBI is holding America hostage?
No I was saying that Trump is metaphorically holding the Save Act hostage (not to be released without the FISA extension) and that he seems to be trying to use the Save Act to get the vote that he wants on the FISA extension.
Them and the rest of FedGov.
Paging Ted Koppel to the night line phone…
Or, conversly, he wants the SAVE act, and is willing to give a FISA extension in return.
And, considering the 2020 election, I think that fits the bill better.
Trump has long been, well, not a fan of FISA, as it was used on him for the original Russian hoax. It’s possible he’s perfectly willing to let it die.
Trump is a big fan of cleaning up elections, as dirty elections did him in once. He’s pushed and pushed for the SAVE Act. I think the idea that he wants it dead unless he gets FISA is backwards. I think he may realize that Congress is eventually going to pass FISA again, and he might as well use it as a chip to get the SAVE Act finally passed.
Or, conversly, he wants the SAVE act, and is willing to give a FISA extension in return.
——–
If it is the SAVE Act that he wants why didn’t he show any support for amending the One Big Beautiful Bill to include the SAVE Act?
“I think the idea that he wants it dead unless he gets FISA is backwards.”
———–
Yeah, I don’t really think that he wants it dead at all. But I think that he thinks/knows that enough of the Republican holdouts will fold and vote for the FISA extension if the SAVE Act is attached to it and he will get both of them. Because they know that if they don’t vote for it then the ads in their future primaries will only tell Republican voters “He/she voted against The SAVE Act!” and leave out the rest of it.

I write this from memory, Victoria Agoglia, (pictured) had to be taken in to care when she was 8 as her Mother had died.
She was eventually killed aged 15 when she was injected with heroin as she was being prepared for another gang rape.
An inquiry found that SOCIAL WORKERS HAD ALLOWED HER “MUCH OLDER BOYFRIEND/PIMP” TO VISIT HER ON A REGULAR BASIS INSIDE THE ORPHANAGE.
They made a show of investigating her case but as more and more suspects of Pakistani heritage were found then suddenly the investigation “ran out of money”?
Her inquest was so prejudiced against her that after years of protest they finally gave her another.
She had kept a diary of her abuse which went missing.
The Police eventually found it in a Council Office safe.
Manchester Council fought a legal battle, at taxpayers expense, to stop the Greater Manchester police keeping it which Mr Burnham must have known about.

Of course they don’t believe that at all. They just use race as an excuse to punish their enemies. I can envision them behind closed doors watching the plebes dancing to their tune and laughing their asses off.

Learning to approach women is absolutely terrifying when you’re a teenager and the only reason most boys did it was because there was no alternative. Now, however, alternatives abound. I’m not convinced that people utterly disconnecting from each other and crashing the birth rate is necessarily a bad thing; it’s just a thing. My opinion doesn’t really matter though because the toothpaste ain’t going back in the tube anyway so people better just adapt or die.
It seem to me that we are re-entering an age of Victorian like prudery, with private sexual abandon, coupled with public moralizing about sex
#meneither
It seems the main objection everyone raises is “zOMG who is going to pay for my retirement?”
In the long run, if your birth rate crashes, and other societies’/cultures’ do not, well, the future belongs to those who show up.
So what you’re saying is we should unleash our arsenal of nuclear, chemical, and bilogical weapons to make sure the foreigners don’t show up?

I’m seeing lots of contradictions and complaining about the Iran deal. Neither the neocons nor non-interventionists/anti-semites are happy.
“Vice President JD Vance’s sales pitch for the Iran deal is simply terrible — but President Donald Trump’s may be worse….
Iran gets at least a few billion in immediate funds and can start selling oil right away, with at least some other sanctions dropped as well.”

That’s the opposite of what JDV said on Megyn Kelly.
I think most of the commenting on this is premature, since nobody has actually seen it yet. What I’ve been hearing is not good, but I will reserve judgement until the actual text is out.
Word on the street is Trump has a press conference coming up to read the entire thing, live.
He should have Melania read it in a skimpy dress, then everyone will agree with it.
nor non-interventionists/anti-semites to “nor non-interventionists nor anti-semites”
Think those are distinct groups rather than different descriptions of the same thing as implied by the slash.
But if everyone is pissed, I consider that a mark on the positive side of the ledger. The overall location of the whole effort on the number line might still be on the left hand side, but maybe a little closer to 0.
Well, there are non-interventionists who deny they are antisemitic (eg. Tucker Carlson, Dave Smith) and might not be, but there is overlap among the blue hat “America First” people (eg. groypers), and the left (eg. Hassan Piker). There is a mash-up of Nick Fuentes and Ana Kasparian saying the exact same things word per word.
non-interventionists is a broad group, anti-semite a narrow group. A non-interventionist might oppose, oh let’s say our intervention in the Ukraine war. I don’t think there’s an anti-semitic aspect to that non-intervention. If they go on to oppose the Iran adventure for, whether one agrees or not, well articulated reasons relating to America’s interest, that’s not anti-semitism. And in fact one could oppose one and not the the other (e.g. support Ukraine but not Iran) and that’s still not a sign of anti-semitism so long as rational, articulate reasons/arguments are put forth.
Anti-semitism and non-intervention are, at their base, orthogonal. Can the reason for non-intervention be based on something not related to the claimed rationale? Sure, see opposition to WW-eleven by a certain segment that went away as soon as Germany invaded the Soviet Union. But non-intervention is not, per se, evidence of anti-semitism simply because it occurs in a context that can be argued to involve Israel.
It’s lazy to equate the two and becomes a facile way of dismissing someone rather than confronting their argument.
Very well put PutridMeat, thank you for that.
What you are saying is of course true.
However,
“Non-interventionsim” seems the be the au courant flag of convenience for antisemitism, now that “antizionism” has lost its cachet. It’s not unique to antisemites, of course: see also communists and environmentalism, civil libertarianism, anarchism etc.
The issue comes about when someone without a substantial history of non-interventionism (or in fact a record of being downright hawkish!) abruptly claims to be a noninterventonist. Is it necessarily that they just don’t want to benefit certain (((countries)))? Of course not, but it’s also vailid to not take their claims of sudden moral reformation at face value. Some people do have road to Damascus conversions, but more people are self-serving liars.
I’m not equating the two. I’m saying there are people who are both. It’s a bit suspicious when people are non-interventionist, or rabidly much more non-interventionist, only when it comes to Israel.
“so long as rational, articulate reasons/arguments are put forth”
The devil can quote scripture for his own purpose. Making an argument for either side of a complex issue isn’t difficult.
I’m not equating the two.
In the context of your statement, the slash between non-interventionist and anti-semite certainly does imply equating the two.
Can it be used as a cover for actual anti-semitism, a la Not Adahn? Sure. Is it in some cases? Probably. But my objection is to the conflation of the two without very good reason. It smacks too much of any number of attacks that try to equate a principled position to an abhorrent justification to make it high-cost to associate yourself with the principled position.
The devil can quote scripture for his own purpose.
Indeed he can. On all sides of a question.
I guess I just disagree on the specifics of whether or not to assume someone’s position is “principled” and likewise on exactly how good of a reason is needed to think it might not be.
“In the context of your statement, the slash between non-interventionist and anti-semite certainly does imply equating the two.”
No, it doesn’t. I also could have wrote “evangelicals/necons” which doesn’t equate the two.
No, it doesn’t.
Guess we’ll disagree. To me a formulation of “(THIS GROUP) or (THAT GROUP)” where “THAT GROUP” is identified by two terms with no differentiation between them implies that you are using those terms as an interchangeable identification for “THAT GROUP”.
If that wasn’t your intent, then we are arguing about nothing.
Which is the best kind of arguing.
Right now anybody can say anything about it, because it hasn’t been released.
So ask yourself the Two Questions:
Who wants me to believe this?
Why do they want me to believe this?
The answer to the first question is almost certainly “people who hate Trump and want to damage him however they can”. The answer to the second question writes itself. Patience, grasshopper. Keep in mind, as well, that when the mullahs break this deal (and they will) that they have handed Trump a pretext to punish them some more. Which it would be nice if somebody else would do it because it needs doing, but nobody else is going to do what’s needed to keep Iran in check. It’s certainly an open question whether Iran needs to be kept in check, of course.
At the very least the US has proven it can bomb Iran with impunity and nobody is interested in coming to Iran’s aid.
And that is a very important point.
For UCS
He went off on some boring tangent, so I clicked off to get back to what I was listening to.
It was just a brief riff (1-2 minutes) on doing a left on a red arrow.
I know.
The cop should have rammed his car.
I hate the new timing on turn lane arrow lefts. And the addition of the red arrow. Bring back the green arrow and flashing yellow.
I blame the Obama administration for adding the red arrow. Those showed up about 10 years ago in my neck of the woods and will go from green arrow to red for a couple seconds to flashing green arrow. So dumb. If anything they create tickets and more rear end colisions.
So, I’m looking for stops to make on the road to Honey Harvest this year which I’ve not stopped at previously. I’m also open to visiting Glibs.
My route is Albany – Cleveland – Indianapolis – Cedar Rapids – Emily, then back along the same path. Most of these stops will be on weekdays during the week before and after Sept 20th.
If nobody has any suggestions, that’s all right, I’m just fishing for ideas.
Harass Evan at the Meijer. 😝
🤔
We will be on the road to/from Nisswa MN Sept 15 through Sep 21. So, we may not be in Cedar Rapids when you come through.
You are correct, but that implies I’ll see you on the 20th anyway.
Yes. My wife and I will be at HH.
When and where is HH?
3rd Sunday of September. Near Emily MN.
Honey Harvest is the third Sunday in September at Fourscore’s house in Emily Minnesota. This year it’s the 20th.
Where: Emily, MN
When: Third Sunday of September
You might consider the river road from Dubuque, IA to Hastings, MN. Pretty drive. Small towns all along the Mississippi.
I hear they are sprucing up the George Floyd memorial in Minneapolis.
UP Michigan on the way back? MikeS. did a Glibs writeup on it
Kevin’s gym is in Valparaiso which is a bit out of the way from Indianapolis to Cedar Rapids.
The Rock Island Arsenal Museum is close to the shortest route from Indianapolis to Cedar Rapids. It is on the military base, so you’ll need to go through some security checking to visit. I thought about visiting on a past road trip but skipped it because of the security checks.
The Amana Colonies in Iowa aren’t far from Cedar Rapids. It’s a bit of a tourist trap though.
New Ulm, MN was a nice town to walk around.
“If GLP-1s are dulling addictive behaviors, could they also have an effect on aggression and violent crime— which operate on similar pathways, like the neural reward system and stress regulation?
According to new research, probably.”

I doubt it.
It’s the

If you work to reduce your food intake without drugs, grouchiness increases. With the GLP-1, that grouchiness does not happen. That could be mistaken as reducing violent behavior.
There are real and significant behavioral changes that come with Zepbound.
I can believe that there are changes beyond just eating. But, I don’t think the changes are as extensive as this article implies.
People report reductions in other behaviors, particularly drinking. Anecdotally, a friend on a GLP-1 agonist has little interest in alcohol these days. A single drink, at most, when socializing (a big change).
I was on a camping trip last weekend. I had 4 kegs on tap for three days. I drank very little. So, yes, I am familiar with this behavior change.

It seems like a bullshit story off hand, but there are some interesting tidbits in there.
“A Chicago cross-burning presumed to be the work of a racist menace turned out to be an anti-Trump protest — and the birdbrain responsible for it insisted he had no idea what he was doing….
But that man apparently emerged on Tuesday, revealing himself in an NBC 5 interview to be University of Illinois senior Merlin Lu, who insisted he was simply trying to protest President Trump — and that race was nowhere on his mind when he sparked ne of the nation’s most notorious hate images.
“My protest has nothing to do with race, nothing to with gender,” Lu told the outlet, explaining he wanted to protest “by myself” and the burning cross “just came to my head.”
“I did know about this historical relevance beforehand, but I didn’t know the severity, how racially motivated it may seem from what I did,” he said….
Others drew parallels to Trump’s pardoning of those charged in the Jan. 6 storming of the US Capitol.
“The same kind of people got the same white supremacist mentality as a cross-burning,” said Frahnk Chapman, executive director of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. “So, they figured, like, they got a license now.””

“I don’t hate blacks, I just hate Drumpf and everyone who voted for him.”
There’s an official report on the rape gangs in the UK. No shock here – 85-90% of the perpetrators were/are Muslims. What is a bit surprising is the numbers claimed in the report. Anyone want to take a few guesses? They say this was over decades. The numbers are being attacked because it’s an extrapolation to all of the UK, but the number of abused girls in just Rotherham alone is 1400-1700 or more.
Do I need to point out how ironic it is to see the champions of female rights who have inflated rape statistics in every other context (college campuses being rape factories hat people pay tens of thousands of dollars to attend) attack the numbers here and show such little interest in finding out just how many girls were subjected to this sort of abuse.
I can’t count how many feminists I’ve seen online who screech about sexual abuse all day everyday online who will jump in to defend “migrant” men or minorities from such accusations. They’ll gladly say “all men.” There’s clearly a point at which they view problems as so large scale that there’s systemic blame to go around. You just can’t get them to even consider it with black culture or Islam etc.
Final point I’ll add. In any other context they are happy to try and claim that the rape arrests and convictions are severe undercounts. They try and paint the migrant numbers as a drop in the bucket despite the higher rates while advocating for more of them in their county everyday.
But ignore the sheer number of unreported victims in just this one case and the law enforcement refusing to act on it for so long and well…you’re just a bigot, my friend. Don’t you dare suggest that they harass and abuse women on the daily and its swept under the rug and the official numbers (even if they are honestly gathered – which we all know they aren’t and they fight tooth and nail to not release them) are gross undercounts as is.
They should all be gelded.
Then deported.
Via helicopter.
Like Gays for Palestine.
Those champions of female rights are too busy attending anti-Trump protests in Handmaid’s Tale costumes. The irony meter is off the charts.
The reasoning is obvious. Brown people are higher on the victim stack than females. Also, they are terrified of Muslims.
A rational person is terrified of Islam and its adherents.
It’s not “official.” It’s a privately funded effort. That in no way makes it less reliable than anything HRM’s government would put out.

I just find it rich that they made it impossible to get a real number. They refuse to really investigate let alone report it. Then they want to have their minions in the media “fact check” it. Like fuck off.

Americans have a bleak outlook on the nation’s future ahead of its 250th birthday next month, with most saying the U.S. has already seen its best days and a record-low number saying they are extremely proud to be Americans, according to a new NBC News poll.
Overall, the survey — sponsored by More Perfect, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to advancing democracy — shows that Americans believe their country has achieved many of the goals of its founders, but it is now falling short in living up to certain central tenets of the democratic experiment. They are split almost evenly over whether the Constitution has stood the test of time.
And they have little faith in their institutions — including the federal government, the media and the high-tech industry. Even the military, which ranks highest among the institutions tested and retains the confidence of most Americans, has seen a pronounced drop in support.
Non partisan patriots seeking to strengthen democracy. That’s one way to look at it.

I’ve read good things about drummer Anika Nilles.
I’ve seen interviews and concert clips. She’s cute, German, 43, and is a great drummer. People are smitten by her, I’ll admit I’m one of them.
Me too. I see tickets are available in Texas, I just don’t know if I can go.
Feel free to give the tickets to Mike.
No.
The results help explain the political tumult of the past generation, an era in which antiestablishment backlash has given rise to populist figures in both parties. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance on the right and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani on the left have shaped American politics in the wake of forever wars, the 2008 financial crisis and a brutal pandemic that affected the health and economic fortunes of millions of Americans.
The poll reveals a polity deeply divided along partisan, generational, educational and class lines, but mostly united in its certainty that the “American Dream” is harder to attain now than it was a generation ago.
Yes, exactly. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?
a brutal pandemic that affected the health and economic fortunes of millions of Americans
It wasn’t the pandemic that was brutal.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
“Experts are raising the alarm over a virus spread by blood-sucking ticks that could permanently damage your brain — as the US suffers its worst tick bite season in a decade.
Powassan virus is considered to be rare, but cases have been rising steadily over the past five years, as warmer, wetter weather allows ticks to be active for longer.
Infected ticks can spread the virus to humans within 15 minutes of a bite. From there, it can travel to and attack the brain, triggering inflammation that may lead to speech problems, seizures and even paralysis.”

“‘The M factor reflects an attitude that sees “true masculinity” as under threat,’ explained study leader Dr Denis Ribeaud, from the University of Zurich.
‘It is associated with notions of male supremacy, a propensity for violence, misogyny, contempt for sexual minorities and opposition to gender equality.
‘Our data show that all these views are closely linked and can be traced back to a common underlying attitude.'”

Trump quietly invoked the Defense Production Act last week to address rising concerns within his administration about the shortfall of munitions, according to a memo filed in the Federal Register on Tuesday.
“I hereby find that conditions exist which may pose a direct threat to the national defense or its preparedness programs,” Trump wrote in a June 11 memo to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Production constraints and supply chain concerns “may impair the ability of the United States to produce, sustain, and expand the availability of munitions, missiles, and equipment required for the national defense,” he wrote.
Trump dropped all our bombs on Iran.
All of the missiles over Israel.
All of the mortars and arty in Ukraine.
