Howdy, folks! Much shenanigans here in the Gulch. Everyone is off gallivanting around, leaving poor Spud and wife to hold down the shop tonight. To answer a question, retarded waitress got canned because arguing with the people who pay your salary in front of other customers generally has a bad outcome. She dipped into that well one too many times.

Links?

This one may actually hurt your brain.

The burn, it is sick.

You get a bomb, you get a bomb, you get a bomb…

Florida Man.

Okay, that’s it for me. Back to the salt mines. Peace out, Glibbies.

This one may actually hurt your brain.

Yeah, and it didn’t take very long.

Look, ladies, it’s empowering to run around having lots of sex, but not with a husband in a traditional marriage because you want to have children. That’s just like the Handmaid’s Tale.

      • Gender Traitor

Oops! Make that Vanity Fair. 🙄

      • Sensei

        They all blend…

      • Trigger Hippie

You were probably getting it confused with the Janet Jackson Hand bra cover from RS.

      • rhywun

I don’t think I have seen “frumpy maternity wear” in decades but you do you, The Spectator. 🙄

    • Sensei

Zoe Strimpel is a Sunday Telegraph columnist, writes for the Spectator and Tablet, the US website about Jewish affairs, and writes and presents documentaries on a variety of subjects for Radio Four. She holds a PhD in modern British history and is the author of four books, the most recent titled ‘Good Slut: How Money, Sex and Power Set Women Free’ (Little, Brown).

Such a fine line between Usha and a good slut it would seem.

      • Evan from Evansville

“‘Good Slut: How Money, Sex and Power Set Women Free’ (Little, Brown).”

Uh. Sets little brown women free? (No, auto, do not fucking capitalize “brown.”) Or ya gotta be little and brown to get set free like that? Or little and brown girls are good at it? Better? (Best?)

Those are the publishers? They’re little and brown, eh? Don’t they normally alphabetize names? I see a big black and white problem, with little conquering brown, subjugating and oppressing it to secondary status. For once, the Lord of Firsting has a point.

    • J. Frank Parnell

Reading between the lines, I’m guessing the author gained a lot of weight when she was pregnant.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

        Heh.

Insubordination is a lame way to get shit canned.

arguing with the people who pay your salary

Has motherhood made WebDom get all soft and squishy? I seem to recall someone who was rather no nonsense about such.

  3. The Late P Brooks

A day or two ago I asked if Team Socialism were freaking out about Usha Vance’s birthing person privilege. One paragraph in, and I think I have my answer.

  4. Brochettaward

Susan Collins has maintained her seat in the Senate since 1996.

It’s baffling at the end of the day that people routinely say they hate Congress, but continuously protect and reelect their little critters.

    • juris imprudent

Nope. They like the person they choose and hate the ones that everyone does. It’s all the fault of those other people.

      • Chafed

        Exactly

      • DEG

They like the person they choose

Richard can confirm or deny this. I know a few Vermonters who all say about Bernie Sanders, “He’s an asshole, but he’s our asshole.” In other words, they don’t like him, but he brings home the bacon. In other words, brings Federal dollars into Vermont. So they vote for him.

      • EvilSheldon

        No. I hate them all.

      • Ted S.

DEG: Electing Sanders to the House in 1990 also got him out of local politics.

      • DEG

Electing Sanders to the House in 1990 also got him out of local politics.

The other thing those Vermonters said about Sanders had nothing to do with “got him out of local politics”.

It was he spent a bunch of time going around to rural areas that statewide candidates usually ignored in favor of Burlington. Sanders recently had left his position of mayor of Burlington for positions in academia. Many folks in the rural parts of Vermont were impressed that a candidate for statewide office paid attention to them as opposed to ignoring them in favor of folks in Burlington and maybe Montpelier and Brattleboro.

      • rhywun

lol What does it take, like half an hour to circle the whole state?

      • DEG

like half an hour to circle the whole state?

        No.

      • rhywun

        It was a joke.

    • rhywun

To be fair, I’d reelect her over the shitty communists the left keep puking up.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

There is a reason why she is a RINO.

    • The Last American Hero

She is the best you are going to get from Maine.

Zelensky hailed a long-range operation in the Caspian Sea, claiming Ukrainian forces struck a Russian warship and vessels tied to Iran-linked military logistics

Assuming NATO paid for this, or was it just the US directly?

    • Chafed

As I understand it, the US has substantially reduced any direct aid to Ukraine. But I am guessing we are supplying Ukraine with satellite images of ship locations.

      • rhywun

Unless we stopped paying for the large majority of NATO operations, we’re paying for it either way.

  6. The Late P Brooks

Pregnant women should dress like POWs.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

      they should wear burkinis.

  7. rhywun

    “Like Graham Platner, but worse.”

Shouldn’t they just lead with the fact that he’s another commie? The loathsome behavior comes with the territory & is entirely expected from that lot.

    • Chafed

I think that’s a selling point to Maine Dems.

      • DEG

        Yes.

Though there are non-Commies in Maine. CD-1 and CD-2 are very different places.

  8. The Late P Brooks

‘Good Slut: How Money, Sex and Power Set Women Free’ (Little, Brown).

She wasn’t looking for a middle school readership.

  9. rhywun

any intervention would likely be framed as protecting U.S. national security by dismantling terrorist strongholds

I cannot 🙄 any harder. Terrorist strongholds are literally everywhere. We would go broke dismantling enough of them to make a difference.

  10. The Late P Brooks

Fuck you and your paywall, Spectator.

The modern progressive woman has been taught to view pregnancy as a disease to be avoided (or cured). Everything follows from there.

    • Evan from Evansville

But if you GET pregnant, well. Ya need to abort that oppressor! OR! (AND!) The Government should be giving you LOTS of money to keep you free from such subjugation. (They’ throw in the free learing center, the benevolent saints they are.)

  11. The Late P Brooks

A Republican group has vowed to spend at least $42 million against new Democratic Maine Senate nominee Troy Jackson, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.

It would be crazy to throw a little money at finding a better candidate than Collins.

    • rhywun

Reelection is what, 90-plus percent certain? Why would they waste money finding a better candidate?

      • Threedoor

For an empty suit that will likely turn out to be a RINO.

    • Chafed

You are talking about a Maine Republican. What different positions would an electable, as in the general election, have?

      • DEG

I can think of one Maine Republican who left for NH. He did pretty well going against a sitting incumbent Senator who has big name recognition (King was governor before being Senator) in 2018.

  12. Brochettaward

Anyone want to watch a movie on how Robert Moses destroyed America’s cities?

How you may ask? By building roads and allowing people the freedom to drive where they please. THIS IS WHY WE DON’T HAVE WALKABLE CITIES!!! And he did it at the expense of the browns!

    • Brochettaward

Should say it’s not just that he destroyed our cities. Why, he destroyed all of America itself!

Americans were able to move out of the inner cities because of his devotion to the auto mobile. He enabled white flight!

      • juris imprudent

Detroit waves and says “who dat”?

    • rhywun

True, cities were destroying themselves with or without him. He was just clever and in the right place and time to accumulate a huge amount of power while helping to move the process along in the Tri-State area.

    Damn, Spud nailed it tonight.

And I mean nailed it. Srsly.

    The snark.

The sparseness and pointedness of the text accompanying the link.

    That is all.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Was that the wall of text guy? His comments were actually pretty good if you could handle the verbosity.

      • DEG

Was that the wall of text guy?

        Yes.

He got banned from here a long time ago.

      • DEG

He got banned from here a long time ago.

Sorry. I confused Ken Schultz with someone else.

Schultz was a wall of text guy. Just not the person who got banned that I was thinking of.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

You must be thinking of the n****r guy. Not too many people have been banned from here I don’t think.

      • DEG

You must be thinking of the n****r guy

        I’m thinking of someone else.

Catholic. I remember some unhinged posts then one of TPTB posting that he sent threatening e-mails to TPTB about some of his posts.

Ken Schultz knew enough about Seventh Day Adventism that I think he was a Seventh Day Adventist.

      • Ted S.

Eddie was the Catholic guy who flounced off.

John got banned the weekend before the 2017 eclipse. (I remember the date because I was stuck in Leominster, MA at a wedding and missed the drama. The marriage was annulled after four months.)

      • Gender Traitor

Did you get back the toaster you’d given them?

      • DEG

YES! Thanks! it was Eddie I was thinking of.

Usha missed a once-in-a-lifetime trolling opportunity. She should have worn the Handmaids Tale outfit.

  17. Evan from Evansville

Young Washington was good, not great, and I appreciated what it was going for. I enjoyed it. Mom was displeased with Kelsey Grammer’s message at the end, and with dripping OMB disdain, “Well, we HAD a good run.” She didn’t love my retort, explaining how the DSA and all the non-socialist Dems are being primaried out, are explicitly running a platform of dismantling the Senate, showing how eager they are to destroy the US system (as long as they get to rule the ashes).

I wasn’t in best movie-watching mood with them, so YMMV.

    • rhywun

Watching anything political with a group of lefties sounds like torture.

    • Brochettaward

How far through his life did they cover?

      • Evan from Evansville

We’re gonna need a colony just for Florida Man

Scientists puzzled by rising leprosy in Florida

The disease is believed to be transmitted mainly from person-to-person via direct contact and/or infectious aerosols. Armadillos also carry the pathogen and can infect humans. In years gone by, those with leprosy were often exiled to “leper colonies.” Today, the disease is treated with antibiotics.

I found that last sentence intriguing, as I’ve been told for years that a leper can’t change his spots.

    • Fourscore

Haha, I get it, Shpip. You said …

I go by my middle name (not my choice) and every card I have has a different combo of names and initials and I have never had a problem like this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I swear I have entered the wrong incantation on more than one CC form and not been rejected.

      • rhywun

Even on backwards websites (usually .gov) where I must enter a full first name and cannot enter anything more than a middle initial, somehow I still haven’t encountered much difficulty.

Gosh, who knew that could possibly change. 🙄

      • Fourscore

She was but just wasn’t aware of it.

I watched one of my kids do similar things. Inflation would build a little equity in the house, borrow the money back out. Soon the debt was more than the original price of the house.

      • rhywun

        borrow

I think I see where things went south.

I haven’t borrowed a dime since college loans. And it took me way too long to pay that back, entirely my own fault.

OTOH I don’t “own” anything nor do I plan to so… well, there is that I guess. Nobody to pass my “wealth” on to so what do I care.

      • Sean

There’s nothing wrong with borrowing. Responsibly.

I know someone in their 30s learning a hard lesson of irresponsible borrowing. Retard.

      • kinnath

She financed roughly $60,000 for the truck, including negative equity rolled over from her Jeep.

        At least two failures here.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

        Three, she bought a Jeep.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Sell the thing, take the loss without compounding it, and for god’s sake keep your mouth shut because people will think you’re a moron.

      Whoops, too late.

    • Sean

      Cassie is a retard.

Maybe she should start an OF…

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

She does seem young and stupid enough to excel in that venue but I don’t think the pic at the top is actually her.

    • Chafed

JFC. This is why Dave Ramsey will never go out of business.

I’m getting “millions of American children are hungry give us money” ads again tonight. One wonders where the thousands of dollars I pay in taxes every year in order to solve this supposed problem are going.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Check the pockets of the execs who run the NGOs that distribute the funds (to themselves).

      • Chipping Pioneer

For only $2 a day, for only 2% of your wealth. Basically the same thing.

      • Chipping Pioneer

        I think I reverse-Brooksed that one.

    • Brochettaward

This has been the point I bang home about the Musk shit. They all bring up the bullshit about world hunger.

Governments spend $50-60 trillion a year. Hundreds of billions flow into Africa per year. Musk has his lifetime wealth which mostly exists on paper and one bad day could knock off huge portions of it.

None of the little commies have ever come back with anything as to why if the UN could solve world hunger with just $20 billion it hasn’t been done already.

It couldn’t be because the global Marxists are lying their fucking asses of to make a private citizen look bad for hoarding all that moneys that could be filling their pockets.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Well for only two percent of his wealth he could solve world hunger so he’s obviously to blame for it. Then again, maybe he just doesn’t want to line the pockets of whoever happens to be the modern day equivalent of Idi Amin.

      • Brochettaward

Right. To be blunt, the massive amounts of aid Africa receives isn’t just squandered. It’s actively harmful. It props up godawful regimes and completely undercuts domestic food production. It’s similar enough to the shit we see with people who on welfare incentivized not to work.

      • Chafed

        William Easterly nods in agreement.

    • kinnath

You want to feed people? Give food directly to the local food bank.

I’m still a cable junkie and I’ve never seen it on the schedule, ever. Fortunately I have the DVD.

Are there any race or gender swaps that you know of? That’s the first warning sign these days that they’re about to butcher something you care about.

It’d be awesome to see some sort of Berserk adaptation that didn’t suck. 97 anime was pretty good for what it was (low budget and only part of a story). Everything after was an abomination. And then Miura died…

Netflix has flirted with doing something in the past, but if they did I guarantee Casca would be black and Griffith and Guts would go full homo and it’d be godawful and cheap looking.

Think of The Witcher. Only worse. Don’t know how many people here even know what Berserk is.

There’s a new domestic abuse simulator – from the vantage point of the woman!

Steam has added a store listing for Woman Simulator, an upcoming indie title from small developer Sebasa Games, set for full release on August 25, 2026. It’s a domestic life simulator where you play as a housewife with a controlling, ab*sive husband, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, and ironing, while managing both your own morale and his mood, since he monitors your work and can punish you for poor performance.

After finishing chores, the protagonist can take a bath to recover energy, and another mechanic lets you flatter your husband for gifts like a new handbag, which can then be sold for money to eventually fund an escape from the house.
This isn’t a brand new reveal, an earlier free demo went up back in February 2026 and currently holds a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam from over 250 reviews. The premise and heavy domestic ab*se themes have sparked real controversy online since it was first announced, with the developer saying the goal is to explore the unfairness of ab*sive relationships and how hard they can be to escape.

Do you think a game like this can meaningfully explore domestic ab*se, or does the “simulator” framing trivialize a serious subject?

This will not go how they think it will. Or it will because they’re just grifters hoping to cause stupid shit.

    • rhywun

Love the title. Totally not biased or political. Fun!

    • Evan from Evansville

Everything gets **-ed out. It’s so fucking childish. I’m angry folk eagerly go along with the blatant Orwellian changes to society and language.

    • Ted S.

Does this include mentally ill women like my mother?

    • Brochettaward

Have you tried relaxing and downloading a copy of the Woman Simulator? It’ll give you perspective.

      • Evan from Evansville

I want a mechanic to flatter me so I can get a new handbag. Surely, I’m not the only one.

The amazing part is that B,B,&B actually survived longer than the marriage.

Morning to all, East and West, but I’m thinking the Westerners aren’t up yet.

Another warm (92 forecast) day in the woods but then the temps moderate a bit.

Good morning, 4(20), Ted’S., Sean, Teh Hype, and Stinky!

Currently cloudy and 69 degrees at Tranquility Base, with 90% humidity! 🥵 Fortunately, we keep a pedestal fan out here for just such an eventuality.

Takes a hell of a fan to move the clouds, and weather manipulation is an (((us))) thing!

An update on the story I posted yesterday:

TOWN OF WALLKILL – State Police said that the Friday night incident at the Orange County Fair in the Town of Wallkill where a circus performer was shot by an arrow was accident.

Troopers said on Satirday that it happened at 9:30 p.m. when Ana Daza Tavera, 42, and Edwin Cuero Rangel, 38, both of Waukesha, WI were performing a show for spectators during which Daza Tavera shot an arrow at a foam target that Cuervo Rangel was holding.

The arrow struck Cuerevo Rangel, injuring him.

He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla in Stable condition.

    The investigation is continuing.

“The YMCA said it is against policy for campers to share food with each other.”

      *shakes head sadly*

And these were labelled, so presumably this was a commercial product. I have never even heard of mushroom candy, much less (as strongly implied) hallucinogenic mushroom candy, which can’t be legal. Can it?

      Asking for a friend.

        *Bings*

Huh. They do make non-hallucinogenic mushroom gummies. I can’t imagine how they could make anyone sick, though.
