Not too much going on in the shy this week. Leo gets two bonus lucky days (tomorrow and Wednesday). Cancer gets punched in the mouf on Tuesday. Tomorrow warns of conflicts at home, quite possibly getting out of hand on Tuesday. However, if you make it through that, there is a sign of reconciliation (Mercury-Vens-Moon) on Wednesday morphing into “generally good” on Thursday. Then nothing until next Tuesday (tune it and read all about it!).

Chicago Sky forward and guard DiJonai Carrington sent a post on Threads where she wrote “white privilege” and tagged the Indiana Fever after being kicked out of Saturday’s game for hitting Sophie Cunningham in the face.
Carrington previously faced controversy for poking Caitlin Clark, Cunningham’s teammate, in the eye during the 2024 playoffs. With two minutes left in the first quarter, Cunningham was headed for a layup when she delivered the hit.
The incident caused Cunningham to scream at Carrington, causing the referees to separate the two players. After review, Carrington’s foul was upgraded to a flagrant 2 foul, leading to her ejection from the game. Carrington then made the post on Threads shortly after her ejection from the game.

Well, I begin Work Search this week, trying to find another step above Meijer. May be seeing a disability lawyer for advice. I’m currently classified as “Medically Frail,” and there may be a way to get extra govt $$ in my quest.
*Hands up* Meh. I’ll happily take it, if offered. We shall see how my course is affected and what my next steps should be.
On the side, I’ll try to pitch pieces to publishers, as well. I’ve got a legit USP to push. That’d be a killer leg up on my quest, but enough stability to afford my own place is my primary goal. Another office gig would be ideal. Will look into the tax suggestion, but non-seasonal work is crucial.

It’s hard to see on a first read, but I’m pretty sure there’s not a single wasted word in the whole book. It’s an amazing first novel.

Kinnath: you’re more than welcome. RJB is an interesting author, pretty variable in his work. His City of * (Stairs, Swords, Miracles) trilogy is great. Others, not so consistently so. He writes compelling characters, regardless.

Have you heard of John Barnes? His Century Next Door books (4 books that are connected, but could be read in any order) and Thousand Culture series (4 books, need to be read in order) are quite good.
The Century Next Door are about the rise of sentient AIs that became viruses that leaned to leap into human brains (which were referred to as Memes, which aged interestingly), off the top of my head, there’s no human character cross overs between the books. Each also is set in different areas, with one taking place over approximately a hundred years following one main character.
The Thousand Cultures are about a distant future in which humanity colonized space the slow way (one way ships to known hospitable worlds) that were government selected to preserve specific Earth cultures. Different cultures would get either a whole world, or a large portion of a world with other compatible cultures. Several of the slots were sold or auctioned off, and some were bought by academics, nerds, and gamers who designed their own cultures that people signed on to join. The books start because instantaneous interstellar transportation was developed, and they’ve started sending the plans out to the Cultures. After several issues with cultures having access to Earth and interstellar trade, they decided to also send advisors with the plans.

Charlie St. Clair, the executive director of Laconia Motorcycle Week, was severely hurt in a motorcycle crash in Ohio, according to the organization.
Laconia Motorcycle Week Rally said St. Clair, who is also a state representative, had a tire malfunction while driving in Avon, Ohio. He is now in the ICU at a hospital in Cleveland.
Tire issues are serious business on motorcycles. We just had one here that had a blowout that left him in a lane of traffic. The bike crash didn’t kill him but the 2 cars that ran him over after his crash did.
I don’t know if I’ve ever met a motorcyclist that didn’t limp.
