- Canadian PM Mark Carney claims country ‘at war’ with Trump on trade after tariffs: ‘We got attacked’
That’s all I got for today. I will leave you with a song and move along with my day.

Checks news…nope, world is still retarded.
Morning all.
The retarded tend to be happy, probably because they want cake. The world is just stupid and vain.

Can we get an emergency shipment of names to Alaska. They seem to have run out.
It doesn’t say if any of them are related.
That would be Alabama.
It does get pretty cold up there and there’s not a lot to do and not a ton of people to do it with.

“Bessent Says ‘Economic D-Day’ Coming for Iran as US Works to Sever Economic Lifelines”
Meh
Exactly what Iran, Russia, and China are saying.
The thing that just amazes me is what we didn’t do on Day One of hostilities.
We didn’t close the Strait to Iranian traffic, leaving their main weapons and economic pipeline wide open. It took us months to finally get around to that.
We didn’t do whatever Bessent is talking about to cripple their economy. We’re just now starting that.
WTF, America?
It’s a war where both sides get a say. We close the Strait to Iranian traffic, they close it to everyone else’s.
We put secondary sanctions on China for doing business with Iran, they stop selling us rare earths which are an absolute requirement for high tech military equipment and they are the only source.
Yep, we did all we could reasonably do given our risk tolerance which is why this war was and is retarded. Makes Vietnam look smart…
True, Drake. The thing is, though, we already knew they were going to close it to everybody else to put pressure on us, and in fact they did so immediately and we didn’t start blockading their traffic for months.
Trump really thought they fold in a day.
The distant blockade of the strait is a logistics nightmare and wildly expensive.
Also the little matters of us not declaring war, no Congressional authorization, and no legal authority to seize ships on the high seas.
I wonder if Kamala would have started a war with a country she couldn’t find on a map?
I don’t think so though she may have done other things worse. No to imply she would have contributed but her advisors/administration.
Harris’ comments at the 2022 Munich Security Conference reportedly convinced the Russians that they were negotiating their way out. The Ukraine War started a couple of weeks later.
If she was President, she’d probably continue Biden’s escalation there even harder than Trump and the Euros.

The illegal-alien to Democrat-voter pipeline really is that critical to the Party. The First Amendment is a trifling obstacle to be ignored as needed.
The Dems much preferred registered “voters” who don’t vote to voters who actually submit their own ballots. That pool of registered voters who don’t vote is the strategic reserve of ballots that can be manufactured and deployed as needed.
So the Dems don’t need, and don’t want, illegals to vote. Some of them might vote wrong, for heaven’s sake. They just want illegals who are registered to vote.

“Red Lobster brings back Endless Shrimp after promotion helped push chain toward bankruptcy”
This time we will get it right!!
Last time was not endless shrimp. Endless shrimp has never been done right before.
They’ll make it up in volume this time.
“This is my emotional support walrus.”
I miss the Friday “All You Can Eat Crab leg/Shrimp Cocktail” at the local casino. The price kept going up, understandably, but we kept going occasionally. I don’t remember when they stopped, pre-covid maybe.
The buffet was fantastic, the place was crowded. We never gambled and the cigarette odor was noticeable when you walked in but the dining area reeked of food.
I don’t know of a casino that didn’t kill their buffet during Covid and don’t know of a Casino that brought it back since.
I visited the Atlantis Casino in Reno after the lockdowns. Their buffet was open and extensive. I had dinner there. It did cost a pretty penny though.
🤷♂️
This leads me to believe the endless shrimp was not really to blame.
So, scrimp on the shrimp did not cause shrink? Is that what you think?
I keep hearing this over and over but have not seen any concrete evidence of it.
The amount of CCP sponsored propaganda to turn Americans against the one thing that can/will save our future, regardless of how complex and ununderstood it al is for now to most people, is staggering. And the thing is it is easy to figure out all this made up datacenter fearmongering shit is all propaganda by the same people that kept us from solving energy with nuclear 60 years ago. The amount of nonsense I have heard abut the problems with datacenters from people immune to physics or logic is staggering. And the real scary thing is that when you correct the stupid, no matter how many facts and good logic that is used in the process, the response is always name calling.
I’m curious to learn how AI can save our future, i.e. solve the several country-erasing political and cultural problems we have at the moment.
Proof? Why? People are happy to act out of sheer panic and stupidity.
No proof is needed. This is a democracy.
Almost the entirety of Western Civilization is currently suiciding because it is frightened of CO2, meanwhile it is deliberately importing the descendants of the mortal enemy it spent a thousand years warring to drive off its land. While I cannot shake my love for that civilization as it formerly existed, I do find it hard to argue that it deserves to survive under these circumstances.
The same civilization that attempted self annihilation in WWI. Also marked by panic, stupidity and patriotism.
An argument can be made that it succeeded and that everything since has been the death throes.
‘An argument can be made that it succeeded and that everything since [WW1] has been the death throes.’
I often felt that way about WW2, but as I’ve gotten older, I have started to think that WW1 was the turning point. You see the establishment of the USSR, which is a sad and crucial turning point. Of course, the prevailing powers of that day were not really that great (morally). Just better than what was to come.
Datacenters don’t use more electricity than other large businesses, such as factories.
The obvious solution of increasing generation seems oddly absent from the debate.
The obvious solution of increasing generation seems oddly absent from the debate.
I watched Mike Rowe interview JD Vance.
Vance brought up adding more power generation when he talked about concerns about data centers driving up electricity prices. According to the timestamps in the description, it is near the end of the interview.
Every state is different on how their PUCs regulate utilities. In NH, when the PUC does its twice a year review of electricity rates, the delivery charge is cost plus a profit. Supply charge is based on only on supply and demand analysis.
We just had one go up nearby that is nestled in a logistics park (lots of business but no real “factories”)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The back end of Silicon Valley has been made up of data centers for decades. They are all over San Mateo county, and no one thinks twice about them or the CRAC units on the rooftops.
FWIW the loudest opposition seems to be coming from the blue hair and nose ring set which leads me further to the belief that there is a whole lot of BS being spun because they are 100% wrong about literally everything.
I think it’s a very niche issue. It’s not an issue out here in rural land. It’s not an issue in urban areas or inner ring suburbs. It’s an issue in exurb land where the land prices are low enough for economical data centers, but the plots are close enough to the city for employees and contractors to work there and for utilities and services to be run there.
The blue hair and nose ring set are unusually susceptible to foreign propaganda in their algorithmically curated internet bubble.
Maybe for those complaining about land use or other suburby type interests.
The Luddite and anti-energy sets are mostly urban-based. E.g. when I lived in Ithaca it recently became the #1 issue among the elitist snobs that run that place surpassing even Gaza.
Bingo.
It comes up in this part of NH occasionally. It is not foremost on people’s minds. Due to land prices, there is basically no one that I’ve heard of thinking about building a data center here.
Where I grew up in PA? Completely different. Constant news about data center proposals and negative reactions to them.
There are some going up in towns near me, and it’s the normies who are having a problem with having a big building constructed down the street.
But I have literally heard people complain about data centers, and in the next breath show off the cool photos they generated on their phone using AI.
Big issue in Western WA, because people get their marching orders from NPR here. Also more than a little ironic given the economic dependence on tech companies.
Datacenters have created a shortage of steel beams in my industry.
That I can see.
When China was building the three gorges dam rebar (steel in general) and Portland cement prices went crazy.
Speaking of that Three Gorges dam… Rumor is that CCP officials at the top level have been moving out of the zones that would end up flooded if that dam failed, and several people in the CCP infrastructure have been disappeared for pointing out that dam was gonna bust sooner than later..
I have a pro/con list for AI. Two of the big cons are that they generate the slop that is in general making people dumber. And those data centers are guaranteed to be the centerpiece of our shiny new surveillance state upgrade.
Power and water issues are not on my list.
These are also on my list. Along with 1) the idea that AI will take over all aspects of human endeavor is wildly overhyped, and when that bubble pops what happens to the value of the investments that are being poured into AI? and 2) this
Dutch TulipAI craze is driving the cost of everything through the roof, to the benefit primarily of NVIDIA, who doesn’t give a shit because they get paid up front. How exactly do data centers even use water? I understand that it may be for cooling, but my truck is water cooled and I don’t have to drag a hose everywhere for it to work.
In some of the cooling systems, it evaporates/steams off, so it’s taken out of the local system. This is only an issue if you are in an area where water isn’t plentiful. In others, the warm water is discharged – which could fuck up local eco systems. Yes, the hysteria is massively overblown.
Here in E. WA we’ve already had data centers for a long time, I assume because of proximity to hydroelectric power. They also just eminent domained a bunch of property to build power lines for the new data center, so that’s not drawing positive attention for them.
There’s a pretty good rant on the subject over at the Flopping Aces Substack.

Yikes!
The money thrown around in advertising always baffled me.
This. I struggle to accept that (1) people are actually susceptible to it; and (2) they can truly measure the ROI of it.
#metoo
If the ROI was really that high, we’d have working session on every Friday Zoom and half the Glibertariat would retire overnight.
(1) people are actually susceptible to it;
Are you new to the Internet?
In business there are really only 2 ways to sell a product.
1) make something you already know people want
2) make something you’re good at and find ways to make people want it.
Marketing & advertising is essential to the latter.
“Brute Force Cybernetics: We create a need and then fill it! – running gag at a Cincy rock radio station back in the day.
@Trashy: They can definitely determine the ROI of such things. I have heard it said, some of the smartest people in the world are in Silicon Valley figuring out ways to get people to look at their phones more. Tesla never did, but every failed electric car did, and he profited off of that.
As Neph points out, Musk does not advertise — he puts on a show — and everyone comes to watch.
Self-promotion and advertising are different things even though they have the same objective.
It can also pull in nothing. I know which outcome is more likely.

Good morning Glibs. Hope you all had a great weekend.
We celebrated Mrs. TOK’s birthday on Saturday at an Extreme/Tesla/Motley Crue concert. I haven’t seen a rock show like that in a long time. All good bands, lots of good guitar playing. Motley Crue put on more of a show than a concert which was fun. They even had scantily clad dancers on stage which was surprising in 2026. (My SIL went with us and was not a fan of the half naked girls).
So while everyone is getting older, some of these guys are still worth seeing.
Congrats to Mrs. TOK.
Don’t the Red Hot Chili Peppers still have scantily clad dancers on stage too?
Not when I saw them, but that was a long time ago.
That’s just Anthony.
HBDMT 🙂
I was surprised by the number of younger people there. Like teens and twenties, not dragged there by parents. They seemed to be having fun.
I saw Crue in 09 or so.
They had midgets as part of their stage show. That was silly.
“My wife says sex to her is only vaginal penetration. So oral and anal aren’t “sex” to her. She is adamant about it. So when we’ve talked about our sexual history, she’s said she only had sex with one person. When talking to me, however, her definition expands.
If I ask her, “So, if I get oral or anal is that sex? Or cheating?” She says yes. And if I circle the response back to her sex life, she says it isn’t sex. So what is it?”

also knows as the bill clinton defense . . . . .
I thought the Bill Clinton defense was “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is”.
Is “is” code for cubby intern?
It’s been a long time, and I am not going to Google it at work.
But there was definitely chatter about the different views of Methodists vs Southern Baptist. Bill is one; Hillary is the other. Bill’s argument was that oral isn’t sex. He didn’t lie when he said he didn’t have sex with Monica, and he didn’t commit adultery. Hillary, on the other hand, did not see it that way.
But yeah — it depends on what the definition of “is” is — will live on forever.
Ya, but is “sex” the same as “sexual relations”?
I grew up in towns dominated by Southern Baptists. I can assure you that any claim that Southern Baptists believe that cocksucking or buttfucking isn’t sex or adultery is complete bullshit.
I did not claim that bill wasn’t a lying sack of shit.
My point was, I don’t think Southern Baptists and Methodists actually have different views on whether cocksucking and buttfucking counts as sex or adultery.
I remember reading that the argument was being made.
The argument was, and always has been, bullshit.
Sounds as long as he keeps to BJs and butt seks, he is not cheating then?
It reminds me of a scene where someone was arguing it isn’t cheating if it is anonymous sex.
Trying to wrap your head around this is just gonna make your brain hurt.
The correct mindset here is, “Awesome, my wife is open to oral and anal!” Pun very much intended.

Dixon was already facing criminal charges in Chesterfield County before the twins’ deaths. She had eight unrelated charges dating back to December 2025, including grand larceny, credit card fraud, possession of stolen property with intent to sell, and other offenses.
The case is one of several recent incidents involving mothers accused of killing their own children. This whole episode is bringing out an astonishing level of self-pity by some women, who just have it so hard after they have a baby. Also a lot of contempt and hatred for husbands and men, who contribute nothing of value whatsoever as parents.
Women making the case for post birth abortions being legal?
That is sarcasm, BTW. This trend is horrific to me. Nobody would excuse a father for this shit, but we keep being told to sympathize with the mothers that do it.
WTF is going on?
The abortion debate has normalized women killing their own children for convenience?
That, social media, and poor old me attention whoring are a heady combination.
WTF is right.
The suitcase killing is a big story here. Women needs to be put down.
I’m well at the point that if I knew that a women defending Casey had children, I’d be calling CPS.
When you stop treating mental illness as a painful and destructive disease to be cured, and start treating it as a social status token…I’m not saying that this is *THE problem, but it’s certainly one of them.
Four generations of my body my choice.
“t was nearly one year ago that opinion columnist Karen Attiah was fired by the Washington Post over vile posts downplaying the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The outlet said Attiah had hurt “the integrity” of the paper. Attiah had posted shortly after Kirk was shot and killed on September 10, 2025, saying, “Refusing to tear my clothes and smear ashes on my face in performative mourning for a white man that espoused violence…. not the same as violence.” Now an arbiter’s ruling determined that she must be rehired.”

OFFS!
Given her an office in the basement; used computer gear; shitty assignments; and a drastic pay cut.
Let her sue all over again.
Congrats, I hope you like janitorial work.
Both of you just created an excellent Constructive Dismissal Claim. Congratulations, you played yourselves.
UnCiv, did I claim otherwise?
I was operating off the assumption that the goal was not to give her more cash and persecution cred.
All together now . . . . . The Process is the Punishment!
Coveralls. A mop bucket and a janitors cart.
I guess we’re just overlooking that she also fabricated quotes she attributed to Kirk.
Wait we’ve found the mythical arbiter that doesn’t find for the employer or industry group (aka FINRA)?
I don’t believe it. Or was this a union arbiter? In that case, no surprise.
🤣😂
Nice lady. I am sure the WaPo is looking forward to her restoring their integrity.

“I don’t want to think about the National Guard. I don’t want to necessarily discuss my affiliation with the National Guard. I don’t want to fulfill my normal National Guard duties just because of the abuses of the National Guard in this D.C. mission,” the guard member said, noting that isn’t how he’s felt after previous domestic deployments.
That guard member was one of three who spoke to NPR on the condition of anonymity because they are still serving and are barred from speaking publicly. All of them were deployed as part of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission for many months, and each has more than a decade of service.
In candid interviews, the guard members described their feelings throughout their time on the deployment, and their worries about the new norms it’s establishing. They discussed the cost, which is expected to run into the billions. And they say they worry that Trump’s unprecedented use of the troops is damaging the National Guard’s reputation with the American public.
Three people. Three! It’s a consensus of shame.
three who spoke to NPR on the condition of anonymity
So, probably bullshit.
Yeah, my rule of thumb is that, when it comes to journalists’ sources, “anonymous” means “imaginary” until there are good grounds to believe otherwise.
Any of them named Walz?
Is there a workplace in America, public or private, where you couldn’t turn up three disgruntled employees who would speak “on condition of anonymity?”
Mine.
There are a total of two of us.
“I didn’t join for this. I joined for the benefits.”
The National Guard should not exist.
Defederalize it.
The extended and growing deployment — and the administration’s unprecedented use of the National Guard in other parts of the country — has led to a rising anti-guard sentiment, which all three members acknowledged.
Throughout D.C. in the areas most patrolled by the troops, signs are plastered on lampposts and chalked on sidewalks urging “National Guard Go Home” and “Troops out now.” Residents regularly approach the patrols and speak their mind, sometimes with what one of the guard members called “misdirected anger.”
Hurtful words are like IEDs in the brain.
Did NPR bother talking to anyone who lives in a neighborhood that none of their writers or readers would dare enter?
You want the presence of the National Guard and the police lessened to the maximum possible extent while still maintaining public law and order? Drastically increase the ability of the law abiding citizen to arm themselves.
Funny how that never gets brought up as a possible solution.
Those people haven’t been property trained!
They can’t be trusted with those icky guns.
Also. Don’t call up the ‘militia’
That’s because the left has no interest in “maintaining public law and order”. In fact, the less order, the better.
Digital manga distribution service MANGA MIRAI announced on Wednesday that it will discontinue service on December 15 (PT).
It’s now called MANGA KAKO.
I must assume the joke requires a higher degree of linquistic understanding than I possess. I can see that there is a punchline… but I lack the knowledge required.
過去: かこ KAKO
(P, adj-no, adv, n) the past, bygone days, (P, n) one’s past (that one would prefer remained secret), past (tense), preterit, preterite, previous life
未来: みらい MIRAI
(P, n) (distant) future, future existence, world beyond the grave, the world to come, future (tense)
👍
Thank you.
I hate the current internet.
I am just trying to figure out what has traditionally been the typical level of regalia for a visiting foreign monarch to wear when attending a formal function hosted by another monarchy. In particular, a royal wedding where the visiting monarch is not a participant but merely a guest.
The internet keeps giving me useless articles about everyday attire and the history of crowns and when did they become a thing. The closest page I got was the current protocol for a state visit to the UK. Which is a bit too modern for useful reference. 🙄
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
Totally random thought.
Check youtube for videos of royal court proceeding at SCA events. There may be many contradictory styles present, but people at that level strive for historical accuracy, and the garb will be well researched.
I hate the current internet.
Generally speaking, it’s worse than useless.
Malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle
Is there non-malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle? Interesting specificity in NC law.
Urgent care owner arrested after reported road rage shooting on I-77 near North Carolina line

Well, there’s negligent, reckless, and justified. Just off the top of my head if I were cetegorizing.
Whether these are recognized by NC Law, I have no idea.
They love to tack the word “allegedly” into anything.
I would imagine the sisters were either shot or they were not.
If they were shot, it should be easy to verify.
I think it would make more sense to say they were allegedly shot by the guy.
Could be that somebody alleged that two sisters were shot but that the reporter could not verify the statement.
unconfirmed reports of two sisters being shot
“allegedly” is the wrong word in any case
I would think you shouldn’t run the story if you can’t verify the central premise.
“unconfirmed reports” was the get-out-of-jail free card for tabloids and other sensationalists back in the day.
It was, and still is, a legitimate way to report breaking news. But it is so, so easy to abuse.
Note that the driver of the Jeep caught a reckless driving charge as well.
Not to be contrary, but I think the word allegedly belongs in any news story these days. I want independent verification before I take anything the press says as more than an unsubstantiated allegation, up to and including when they report sunrise.
Perfectly Japanese!
A man who left his tired 7-year-old son to wait alone on Japan’s Mount Fuji while he continued a family hike has been reprimanded by police.
The boy was spotted sitting on his own at a hut about 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) above sea level – slightly more than halfway up the country’s tallest mountain – by a worker on Thursday, according to CNN’s affiliate TV Asahi. The case was then reported to the police.
Police said the boy had gone hiking with his father and older brother and was told to wait there when he became “tired” and reluctant to continue walking, TV Asahi reported.

Both the reprimand (i.e. public shaming and no more) and the fairly common practice of letting young children go do things independently. This one taking that just a bit too far…
It’s Japan. I could see the father sending the kid back down to run some errands.
Specifically tobacco.
R.I.P. “Mary Stone.” Those of us of a certain age wished we could be her Johnny Angel.
I pretty much missed her and consequently can not miss her.
RIP, nonetheless
