Ahh, the smoke has finally cleared and there is blue sky above it. We’re in the middle of August, so it’s time for the weather to start cooling and moving into fall, and the best time of the year. This year’s garden has been a little wonky in that I’m getting a lot of plant growth, but production is down over previous years. We’ll see how it ends up at the end of September.
Links?
Because they’re white, diploma addled elitists?
You have almost three million acres, get over it. Oh, and you lost.
“They’re eating the dogs! They’re eating the cats!”
All I can think of is Luigi is vying for a nicer cell.
“Nice beaver.” “Thanks, I just had it stuffed.”
I think he was denied a succulent Chinese meal.
Okay, that’s it for me. Back to weed duty and seeing if there might be some produce to gather. Peace out, Glibbies.

All I can think of is Luigi is vying for a nicer cell.
Heβll be in a cell by himself. Which is nicer in a way.
Less sex that way though.
Iβve heard itβs good for a back injury.
I heard this is all so he will never be charged with murder.
The little shit and his sick fans will make hay of that.
The thing is, a state murder conviction is a 25-life sentence. He’s still eligible for parole in 25 years. If he gets life on the federal charge, he would need a pardon or commutation to get out.
Prez AOC pardons him.
Fan fucking tastic.
To paraphrase Deep Purple: Soon he’ll know what’s knocking at his back door…
That wasnβt CCR?
John Fogerty has said that his song is family friendly. I think I’m remembering correctly
DP is down with Sweet Lucy.
Someone’s knockin’ at his door?
Why you trashing up my post with the Beatles, Ted ;S?
Mac solo. Not Beatles.
Better than Ted S. link
I pick music that’s lyrically appropriate. If it makes you all recoil in horror, so much the better.
My guess is that Luigi really got to see “pound him in the ass” up close.
^^^ My thought, right here.
“Why am *I* iΜ΅nΜ΅ Μ΅tΜ΅hΜ΅iΜ΅sΜ΅ Μ΅dΜ΅iΜ΅tΜ΅cΜ΅hΜ΅ getting fucked in the ass?! UNFAIR!”
Therefore, educated voters and non-college voters hear politiciansβ promises through very different ears. To educated voters, big promises about government improving peopleβs lives sound great, or at least plausible. To non-college voters, those promises sound like just more empty talk.
One might even call it fatuous nonsense.
So the New Republic is white-knighting for communists now. Bless their hearts.
Brooks, 300K for a Mercedes 300 coupe is a dead steal, akin to robbing a 7/11 and getting away with it.
You have almost three million acresβ¦
The border wall should go around the Rez and be open to Mexico.
As a sovereign nation they can deal with the illegals and cartels on their own.
I like the cut of your jib.
Modern problems require age old solutions.
Sure, you are both Idahosers.
Ainβt you an Ore E Gonian?
Thatβs close enough, weβre going to absorb 2/3 of that state eventually.
Newsletter, please.
Itβs true that itβs not fair that social democratsβand again, most of these candidates are really social democrats, not democratic socialistsβshould pay the electoral price for this. After all, it wasnβt they whoβve been screwing over the working class for four decades. But theyβre stuck with the reality that the screwing has made working-class people extremely suspicious of those promising them big things.
Never mind the part where they demeaned and belittled actual work for decades, and piled credentialist roadblocks in the way of advancement.
No, they are communists. The DSA website makes it *abundantly* clear.
but second and more importantly, really just explain things to working-class voters in a way that understands and assumes their skepticism.
Speak slowly and use small words. They’re not very bright.
My new hardback copy of the Library and Mount Char arrived today. I am stoked.
I got my copy day before yesterday. I’ve never read this guy, but I put it on top of the pile anyway. I hope I like it.
I bought it on Kindle. I’m so worn out from re-reading stuff I know. I am looking forward to something that is new to me.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I and its other readers here do!
I read it years ago. I figured I should reread it before the new one drops in September.
Iβm digesting the dungeon crawler Carl books now.
Perfect for my post surgery pain and drug addled mind.
They are like pudding. Sweet and easy to digest. No big words or concepts.
No shit?
I don’t recall any mind-reading provisions in the constitution.
I heard he deleted much of his older social media – you know, the really hard-core anti-American and Islamofascist stuff – but JFC it’s not like it isn’t very obvious what that guy is all about still.
STEVE SMITH LIKE BEAVER. WANT HAT.
STEVE SMITH NEVER WEAR HAT, ALWAYS GO RAW!
@Ceuta: “The human cost extends beyond pollution and fights. In the weeks after the invasion, health sources at Ceuta University Hospital treated at least five girls under 14 for alleged rapes, plus an underage boy, according to reports.”
“When I get to America, first, I see Yankees game! Ten! Work in factory! Or start restaurant! Build new life!!” ~ Ellis Island, c.1900
“When I get to Ceuta, First, I see girl. Then, I rape girl. First day.” <– The (Spanish+) People need to 'decorate' their streets with pols. If and when the People do something on their own, they'll be imprisoned for being evil racists to the polite and adjusting rapists. Nearly inevitable. How do people think this is going to end? (They don't 'think.')
Lamp posts should be decorated.

That is fantastic – love that shit. Wayyyy more interesting than the “kits”.
Word. I get that. I don’t ‘get’ get it, cuz I can barely tie my shoes. (I can DOUBLE knot that knot, though! So there!)
Legit, something much, much, much smaller than that would be something my mid-nephew would *really* like. I ain’t his papa, but that seems a dangerou$ door to open for an 11yo.
Definitely.
Teaching robotics to elementary kids, I spend the first half of our time just learning how to build things like these basic connections.
Gears are particularly hard.
So we build levers, gear sets, drive trains, etc.
All from scratch, from basic principles, without being given a plan or detailed instruction. Just “use what we learned to make this climb stairs” or whatever.
It is fascinating to watch. For weeks they flounder around and not much gets accomplished (visibly)
And then…
The knowledge reaches a tipping point and they start building stuff and iterating designs like a bunch of experienced engineers.
Building kits is paint by numbers. This video shows the path to the real stuff.
Jeebus I sprained or tweaked something in my left hippal or groinal region. No idea how but after returning from some shopping today out of nowhere I was yelping upon rising from a chair. It’s easing off thank goodness but not good when I am scheduled to travel tomorrow.
Is this getting old?
Yes.
It is crazy. An entirely new pain to me.
Eek. Dad’s done it many times and says the first x minutes of a sprained ankle is the worst pain ever. He does note, however, that it at least kinda goes away after that. Stiff, annoying and still painful, but not that biting, or rather, shrieking pain.
I’m pleased I’ve never sprained or even twisted anything. My groaning hippo is just fine, as well.
Flying, yeah? Getting there will suck, regardless You can get wheelchairs at the airport though. (Uh. Some airports?) I think I’ve both arranged it ahead of time and also have been able to ‘snag’ one there. May be an option? Best luck. OH. This is the move-move weekend? *expression dramatically changes*
No, bus to NYC and thence to start setting up a new residence in NJ.
I’m walking fine. Still twinges when standing up but bearable.
I’m coming back to Ithaca to meet the movers and then it’s back down to NYC – sigh.
“Vacation”. π
The warrenty expired. As soon as you turn 50, it just goes down hill.
Well, at least I made it to 57 before the undercarriage started to go kaputt.
Shoulda gotten the extended warranty.
Hah! My (slightly) older brother turned 58 today.
*tap tap* Woah. You guys came with warranties? Gotta look for the paperwork… I’m sure there’s SOMEone I can sue…
Here’s all you need to know about the Senate race in Michigan.
Gretchen Whitmer
Dana Nessel
Jocelyn Benson
Checkmate
If I lived in Michigan, I would vote for checkmate.
If you lived in Michigan, it wouldn’t matter what you put on your ballot.
*clears throat*
It’s time for another war between Ohio and Michigan.
Loser gets Toledo,.
I was going to say “Loser gets Detroit.” but that violated the 8th amendment.
A friend of mine in Michigan has had his house for sale for years.
I donβt think he even gets tire kickers anymore.
Itβs a mobile home?
Sean:
Every home in Michigan is mobile if you care enough.
And yet, they never ask why there is that fear. Retards.
How do I reach these kids!?
LOL that is what I hoped for.
Comedy Central has cycled into the recent shitty seasons again. What a disappointment.
rhywun:
I make it a point to have the banned episodes downloaded.
*tap tap tap*
They all seem to have something in common. What a surprise.
rhywun:
I also have the It’s Always Sunny pulled episodes.
Ok I’ll ask, Why is that fear there. I’d also ask if the whole premise isn’t bullshit. Every contractor I know is constantly looking for workers, half the fast food joints in town have “Now Hiring” signs up.
I sometimes wonder if those jobs are paying more than welfare pays.
half the fast food joints in town have βNow Hiringβ signs up
Every place you would expect to be a minimum wage job is offering well above minimum wage.
Yes, because working fast food, no matter the wages, really creates pride in life.
Don’t be dense Hyp, people want work they can feel proud of, and the hollowing out of manufacturing has been one of the most destructive things that has happened post WWII.
I’m not sure working at a press stamping out car parts instills more pride than flipping burgers, but I could be wrong. And obv. the contractor workers can advance to being skilled carpenters/ masons, tradesmen of all sorts. But as I’ve said, before north central Ohio may well be in a different universe than the one the rest of you people live in.
The hazard of so many people POIA-ing body cam videos and posting them online is that I grow ever more in favor of excessive force against these … “suspects and bystanders”.
I still think the cops are assholes, but they do not apply nearly as many beatdowns as people deserve.
*FOIA-ing
How did I even make that typo?
The problem is that the cops can’t confine themselves to only dealing with the people on their own level. It’s the spill over that is intolerable.
Thanks for the music, Spud
My garden moved to Mrs F’s unused flower beds by the door. I can’t keep up with the big garden, I planted a few cukes, tomatoes, cabbages and kohlrabi. The flower beds are slightly raised so I can work them easier. I only had a few plants of each, the kohlrabi was the best I’ve ever grown, big, not woody and fast growing. We’re eating cukes every day, tomatoes just starting to ripen.
The flower beds have black dirt, I found a washtub of rabbit shit in the woodshed. Dig a hole, toss in a small handful of 10-10-10, a shovelful of rabbit shit, mix together, fill the hole with black dirt and put the plant in the middle, water. Everything I transplanted grew big, fast and productive.
I planted the old garden with some corn, watermelons and about 8 apple trees I started from seed. Used the same technique but with a small trailer full of chicken shit. A couple of the little trees died but I can make more. I’ll used the same technique next year, more apple trees.
One day in the future the new owner will curse me for all the damned apples but the neighbors will love him.
Fourscore Appleseed
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=InE6U3H2oRE
I have 4 of Fourscore’s apple trees growing in my yard. They are growing slow, but they are growing.
Sounds like a fine garden! This was supposed to be a pickle year, but I planted the wrong cucumber…
We like the picklers for table cukes. Let them get on the bigger size.
Only a few plants but convenient to the door. I use a little garden tractor when I check the old garden.
From apple seed to orchard isn’t “soon”, more like 7-8 years but who’s counting?
I do have a 5 years old tree with a few apples on it. Kinnath is the guy with apple trees.
lol
Mini-profile of another NYC communist, yammering about commie shit.
Woman of the people, she is. π
I have a biological need for good bourbon, it’s not like stealing.
Only bourbon? I’m suffering much more than you. I need good gin, rye, and mixers as well.
I just watched a fun movie – Bloodsucking bastards.

Throw a nice pitch filled pine log into a fire…
That reminds me – we haven’t had a nice fire bowl fire all year. Don’t know if we have any pine logs, but plenty of pine cones. I think it’s been wet enough lately not to pose much danger. π
That is a good one!
@NA – Not sure if you’re around to see this.
I was at Saraspa this morning. I arrived shortly before 8:30, and looked around to see if I could find you. I didn’t see you or your car, so I waited in the front lot in case you hadn’t arrived yet. After 9am when the match started, I left.
I do admit that I do not know the layout of that club very well, as I’ve not been there since I last shot steel challenge there years ago. It is entirely possible you were down one of the roads I did not follow.
We’ll have to try again after you return to town.
This lyric has been stuck in my head:

What are the right reasons?
… to make money off of power people. So they’ll give you even more money. Heidi Fleiss, baby. Yeeeea.
(Would hang w Madam Fleiss. Well. Ya know.)
To get comps! Duh!
Drove down through Idaho on I15 on my way to Colorado last weekend. Smoke was all the way to Idaho Falls. Driving back through Wyoming today. No smoke, just some nice thunderstorms.
Does it violate the NAP when slow drivers speed up at passing lanes?
YES! Engage lasers! Shoot them down!
I only have carpoons and anti-traffic missiles.
Lasers required more electricity than I could provide.
No it doesn’t violate the NAP.
This also applies to those bastards that camp in the passing lane going up a steep grade.
I meant… fuck it.
No, fuck them.
I got stuck yesterday on two long roads where the car ahead of me decided to do about 5MPH under the speed limit. The guy finally turned off the road, and the car ahead of him was promptly doing about 4MPH under the limit.
The road finally becomes two lanes in each direction, and I moved into the left lane to get ahead of the guy at the upcoming traffic light. But just before the light there was an asshole parked in the left lane trying to pull into a gas station where there’s clearly a no left turn sign.
On the bright side, there were a bunch of lefty protesters on the side of the road (some had “Ban ice” signs while others had “Save our health care”). I gave them all the finger. Probably not stoic, but I felt good doing it.
Trump really needs to rename it to NICE like he promised.
NICE has less than nice overtones to fans of C.S. Lewis
Fairly Big Moment time: I’ve tightened my Crest Quest piece into a stand-alone essay I’ll submit to places outside these parts. Edited and streamlined, using only my drawing and the pic of my skull bracketed before being reattached. (I’ll let ’em know I’ve got many gory more.) Using Gemini cuz I draft in Google, it recommends The Guardian (“Experience” series); Vox (“First Person”); Slate (Human Interest / Life); The Sun Magazine. (Yikes. Those are our favorite places, aren’t they?)
This edit for outsiders is the ‘polite hook’ I was looking for, a tight way to introduce me, the extent of The Incident, and tease other stories to come.
Like my parents, writing is what I’m best at and enjoy most, and given my situation and my skills being AI’d away, etc, it seems foolish to not play the hand I’ve been dealt. I think my candor and whimper-free voice are strong selling points. I’m also pleased my ‘careers’ post-Incident (and time overseas) remain relevant and ongoing. Oddly ‘evergreen’ stories.
This could be interesting. I certainly hope so. Hmmm.
AI recommends nothing but far-left sites. I am shocked. π
Oh, the irony ’twasn’t unseen!
Good morning to everyone not clogging up the left hand lane.

Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., rhy, cyto, and (((Jarfy!
Mornin’ GT
How are you today, (((Jarf? And how’s the weather been down yonder?
Well, it is not currently raining, so the cats insisted on being out, but it rained all night so they will want to come in shortly and be grumpy because water got on them, but they will then look out the window and see no rain falling and want to go back out, but then water will get on them and they will want to come back in, where they will see no rain falling and want to go back out. So I will be kept busy with my role as cat doorman and concierge. This hotel is understaffed.

Goooood morning!!
Hope you are having a great start to the day. I woke up with the dog on my legs and the 14 year old laying diagonally across the bed taking the covers with her…. the wife clearly noped right out of that noise and found somewhere else to be.
I think they are putting me in with the toddlers this morning at church… so I gotta get a pot of coffee on the brew!
I’m clogging in the left lane, clogging in the right,
I’m a clogger, gonna clog, all through the night
Who knew?
What a square. π
A historian who studies American reform movements running as the Prohibition candidate might be peak irony. Apparently those who study the past are doomed to repeat it.
He’s starting with a party of one, could easily double/triple by election time.
Mao is alleged to have said something about a journey
Last night I caught the episode of Battlestar Galactica where the final 5 hear “Watchtower” echoing in the background and are drawn to each other.
Spoiler alert if you never watched the show and want to.
Wow. What a moment. Colonel Tigh has a speech about serving as an officer for 50 years, fighting in 2 wars, watching his friends die…
“My name is Saul Tigh. I’m an officer in the Colonial Fleet. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that’s the man I want to be. And if I die today, that’s the man I’ll be.”
Pretty awesome SciFi writing. We are who we our actions. We are who we chose to be.
