Wednesday Afternoon Full Sugar Links

Howdy, Glibs and mythical Glibertarian women, sorry I missed you last week. I would describe last Thursday as “random acts of senseless vomiting” at the L house. The oldest three boys and myself had a nice little stomach bug. I don’t expect a 5 year old to make it to a receptacle, but 11 and 12 have little excuse. Although to be fair to the 11 year old, he woke up from being asleep the first time he yakked and that was the only time he missed. Anyhow, all is much better now. I would post a “this house has been vomit free for X days”, but that’s tempting fate. Anyhow, SF had some bidness to take care of out of town today, so I’m up, let’s do some links!

Oh, no, I’ll bet Gov. Abbott is just crying himself to sleep now that he’s being sued by the mediocre-to-failed state of Minnesota. I’m pretty sure the ultimate target is going to end up being taken into custody by Minnesota, but this is why its great to have a federal system. Everyone gets to be their own brand of asshole.

Sign me up for the next five hamburgers a week study!

All they need is a woman to drive it! British F1 engineers to build kamikaze drones (note: how is a drone with a guidance package and a payload different from a cruise missile?)

“I’m sorry, I thought that was okay for Democrats. Where are Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy when you need them?” — my totally made up Jimmy Gomez quote.

I haven’t listened to this song in forever. Maybe because its merely okay.

About The Author

Brett L

Brett L

Brett set out to find America, the real America, the America of strip malls and serial killers, of butthole waxing and kelp smoothies, of cocaine and maggots. He sought it in the most American part of America—Florida: swamp gas and fever dreams, where love arrives on a rickety boat and leaves when it doesn't have the money for its fourth abortion. Oh, where has Brett gone? He’s drinking at the neck of America’s wang, chewing its foreskin and working its shaft. Brett is becoming legend. Brett can never die. Brett can never die. Brett is America, facedown in his own patriotic puke: the red his blood, the white his stomach lining, and the cold, cold blue his gas station slushie, spiked with coconut rum and tetracycline.

OK, was Danzig supposed to be the new Jim Morrisson?

    • rhywun

      With bigger breasts.

    • Tonio

The second from the left guy does look a bit like Jim Morrison.

      • Evan from Evansville

(He’s right, ya know. Pretty well built. I get the appeal.)

      • bacon-magic

        He’s like 5′ tall.

      • rhywun

        That’s Glenn Danzig I think

      • slumbrew

        Yes, that’s Glenn.

        Wee but jacked.

Ladies reacting to Glenn remains amusing

      • Threedoor

        He’s no Peter Steele.

    • Nephilium

Danzig is listed as the same height as Bono, which means he’s about the girlfriend’s height.

(She is under 5 feet tall)

Glibertarians dot com can neither confirm nor deny that.

Even eating white meat — specifically poultry — affects blood cholesterol levels in about the same way that red meat does.

    Useless inclusion of unexplained data.

    We start with:

    1) Despite an increased intake of saturated fat, the high-fat ground beef lowered low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL, or “bad” cholesterol.)

    Then we add:

    2) Previous research has shown that diets heavy in red meat and animal fats raise LDL cholesterol levels, increasing the risk of heart disease.

    Then we note that:

    3) The study was the first to find that short-term consumption of high-fat beef reduced blood pressure and potentially cardiovascular disease risk, countering the well-researched belief that foods high in saturated fat are unhealthy diet choices.

    Finally, the throw away:

Even eating white meat — specifically poultry — affects blood cholesterol levels in about the same way that red meat does.

So, does chicken give bad results per line (2) or good results per lines (1) and (3)?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

    • kinnath

and fucked up the last closing tag.

      woe is me.

    • PutridMeat

The solution is easy. I don’t care, since I reject the faulty premise.

      • Sensei

The important thing is did I get a publication and/or grant money!

      • kinnath

I was bitching about the journalism, not the science.

The science isn’t worth bitching about.

      “the well-researched belief”

Uh, huh. Noah and his ark is a “well-researched belief.” And just like yours, I believe parts of it really happen(ed). Eating a lot of meat suddenly likely does ‘something’ with or to cholesterol. I also believe big floods occur.

    • Threedoor

Jurno can’t believe that a no meat low fat carb based diet isn’t good for them. It’s likely been part of their save the earth religion as long as they have been alive.

Why do I picture Jimmy Gomez speaking in the third person? “Jimmy Gomez is innocent! Jimmy Gomez never touched anyone! Jimmy Gomez is being set up!”

    • rhywun

      “Jimmy likes spicy chicken.”

      • Evan from Evansville

        George likes his chicken spicy!

  5. Tonio

“(note: how is a drone with a guidance package and a payload different from a cruise missile?)”

Cruise missiles fly low to thwart air defense systems. NOE (nape of the earth) terrain-following capabilities.

The article says these are designed to be employed in swarms to overwhelm air defenses.

    • Threedoor

Because ‘drone’ has been a trendy word since the start of GWAT.

  6. Sensei

Interesting, but I’m not sure I’d trust it. I wonder where they source the flash and if it’s consistent enough for this to be meaningful.

  8. Aloysious

WRT Danzig, he’s okay. If I had to choose between long black haired sweaty dudes, I’d take Peter Steele and Type O Negative.

    • Furthest Blue pistoffnick (370HSSV)

      Glenn Danzig’s height is 5′-4″

I bet he had “little man syndrome”.

    • bacon-magic

Peter Steele holding an upright bass like a guitar is an image that I will never forget. Type O’s songs…meh.

Peter Steele is my porn name.

But prosecutors later said surveillance footage and witness accounts contradicted Castro’s version of events. The charges against Aljorna and Sosa-Celis were dismissed, and ICE placed Castro on leave while it investigated the shooting.

While I was reading the article, I was wondering why the Feds didn’t pull the Lon Horiuchi style court action. This might explain why.

note: how is a drone with a guidance package and a payload different from a cruise missile?

It’s about 1/1000th of the cost?

  11. DEG

Capable of delivering a 300-kilogram payload, the TigerShark uses GPS for navigation but is also designed to reach its target in terrain where GPS is unavailable or jammed.

Smaller than a V-1, faster than a V-1 (466 MPH speed mentioned elsewhere in the article), and uses GPS. Hmm… good enough for government work on a next generation V-1.

    TOO LOCAL NEWS: Raptor migration

One of the Hawk Mountain traditions is predicting which raptor will be the first official hawk of the count. Even though Brown has had harriers on his mind over the last three months, he predicted that a bald eagle would be the first raptor of the season, which makes sense since the bald eagle has set records seemingly every season with a high last year of 761, breaking the previous year’s record by nearly 100 birds.

The first raptor of the count season, though, was a broad-winged hawk sighted at 10:21 a.m. The broadwings are the first to migrate in large numbers in mid-September, usually in the thousands.

    • bacon-magic

Had a broadwing hawk at me feeder a little while ago.

The next time you’re at a barbecue, though, feel free to add a patty or two to your plate, thanks to research on the surprising effects of red meat on men’s cholesterol.

Grilling and barbecue are two different things. Not that I’d expect someone who writes for a New York newspaper to know that.

TOO LOCAL NEWS: Was he trained to know this was against the rules?

A Penn State University Police dispatcher was charged on Tuesday for allegedly stealing equipment and helping a former student auxiliary officer illegally access law enforcement radio programming.

Edward J. Veneziano II, 40, of Liberty Township, is also accused of accessing databases without authorization for use in his separate role as a constable.

Veneziano in 2024 allowed Zuoyu “Eric” Wu inside the Penn State University Police dispatch center, where Wu accessed a Pennsylvania State Police radio to bypass its security protections and obtain its programming information, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by a university police detective. In the presence of Veneziano, who knew the purpose of the activity, Wu connected the radio to computer equipment that he used to access and extract its electronic configuration and programming data, the detective wrote.

One wonders if the K.C. Chiefs put on Penn State jerseys if they could beat tOSU. Sometimes another team just has your number and nothing you can do about it.

Well, the job thingy, “Application to Offer” did headline with resume writing, and although I got a “Job Coach” contact, I was hoping folk from an org I wanted to talk to would be there, and that wasn’t the case. Really was a complete waste of my early afternoon. There were two other older black women there to listen to the guy talk in his small office. No sarc, really good Cubs game to miss. Well, radio from the 6th inning. I missed nothing. *shrug* We took 2/3, and the last two against the South Side were both tremendous.

The actual job fair is tomorrow. The Marion County Clerks is kinda my target, but I’m not expecting anything tomorrow’s outing, either. hrrmm I do enjoy I’ll get a full 80hrs on Friday. That’s pretty sweet. *scrunched curious face*

They should move to Ireland and hang out with Rosie.

Do you feel the need to be infuriated? Topher Field was on the Tom Woods Show a little while ago. They talked about the Rona Panic in Australia, specifically Melbourne. Here’s Topher Field’s documentary on what happened in Melbourne.

    • rhywun

Too lazy to watch a video but I had always wanted to visit that city – until what I heard about what happened during the plague years. I thought the oppression was across Australia, not just limited to Melbourne?

      • DEG

There were some variations across Australia.

Melbourne, and to some extent all of Victoria, was the worst.

I’m able to watch the documentary without a youtube account. Up at the top it’s embedded, I think at dailymotion.

    • rhywun

The Youtube video requires an account anyway. Oh well.
