So last night I get a text from my son at the gym that I need to stop and grab a Mt. Dew for the wife on the way home. I had dinner done already so I dropped my sons off to get a post workout meal and ran to a Circle K. It was nice out last night, a really nice 68°. How nice? Nice enough for me to open the windows and sunroof. Too bad for me because this morning I discovered I forgot to close the sunroof.

…I’ve been meaning to clean this out anyways. Luckily, it has leatherish seats and the lesbian that owned it before me bought the Subaru branded rubber mats so at least drying it off wasn’t that bad. Please laugh at my expense.

This of course, being the source of the rain last night.

I’m calling it now, cocaine will be trafficked by Amazon Prime.

One day, we will stop Indiana.

This is too funny:

On Wednesday, the newly appointed head for the disaster preparedness and response agency said the government would request rescue teams from only four countries: the US, El Salvador, Ecuador and Israel.

Milei threatens the UK! Okay he’s only throwing his lawyers at them for now.

Yesterday, I had some time to kill with my oldest so we went to a guitar store near his high school. He didn’t know what to do, so I told him grab one, see how it feels, heard how it sounds, thats why they’re on display and not behind the counter. He looked at the stoner working there and got an approving nod. So he picks one eventually (an Ibanez) and I hear him hit the strings. By then I was probably 20 feet away on the other end of the store when I shouted, “Hey! No Stairway!”

He set it down realizing I set him up. This isn’t Stairway, but appropriate for today.

    Please laugh at my expense.

Can’t do it, as I’m still in the process of refinishing the window frames on my car, and we keep getting a little 10 minute thunderstorm, just enough to bloom a new batch of surface rust that I have to knock off with a wire wheel. On the bright side, I should be ready for Bondo, primer and paint by this time next week. Climate controlled garages should be a human right.

    • R.J.

Oh Lord. You saw all the rain coming tomorrow – Friday?

      • Pat

Yeah, we’re not supposed to get it quite as bad over here as you guys, but it’s still going to be wet. I might just either shut some trash bags into the door frames or park in my no-doors garage – it’ll still bloom a little rust from the humidity, but probably won’t be as big a pain in the ass.

Nolo and Polo? Whoever names these storms is really phoning it in these days. RIP bash.org

Who the fuck is the one naming hurricanes?

They somehow manage to give them the least threatening names ever.

If I turned on the news and heard that Hurricane Erin was coming I’d think to myself, “Erin? I could take that slut.”

If I turned on the news and heard that Hurricane Dicksmasher was approaching, I’d grab all the money in the house, shove it in my pockets, and get the fuck out of there.

“Why?” Like cats and the moon, the sea belongs to the female.

I think 1978 was the first year Atlantic hurricanes had male names.

Of course, if all hurricanes had male names, they’d never make it past the Virgin Islands.

Rich Hall, American comedian who’s been in England for a few decades, he named hurricanes as a young man for the United States Meteorological Service. He was upset he couldn’t name one “Jugs” or something more frightening.

According to USA TODAY Network previous reporting, Lincoln-Goldfinch said her client told her he was making a DoorDash delivery shortly before 1 p.m. on Sept. 20, when an unmarked black truck sideswiped his car. He did not know the people inside were federal officers and made a U-turn beneath a highway before the truck followed him and struck his car again, she said.

And we have what actually happened. ICE actually played this one well.

    Bold strategy

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, took a surprising new tack during the first hearing after her mistrial. Instead of arguing she could not be held criminally responsible for the strangulation deaths of her three children, he argued Tuesday that the prosecution failed to prove she caused their deaths.

“Where does she say she did this?” Reddington said in court on Tuesday.

NewsCenter 5 asked retired Massachusetts District Judge Jim Barretto to respond to the change.

“I almost don’t know what to make of it,” Barretto responded during our live interview. “I’ve heard hundreds, if not thousands, of motions for required finding of not guilty. I never expected this: Attorney Reddington, while arguing that motion, actually asserted that Lindsay Clancy — or that there was no evidence that — Lindsay Clancy killed her children.”

Barretto continued, “That was a bedrock fact which he himself virtually conceded throughout the entire trial.”

    • Brochettaward

Basically, he’s feeding on the politicization and ridiculous support she’s gained online that wasn’t there before the trial hit the mainstream.

It’s smart as a defense attorney. With Trump commenting on this even to some degree, I guarantee no Massachusetts jury would vote to convict in anyway.

No word on what the hundreds of black-market gun stores think.

    ***
There are only two legal gun stores in all of Mexico — making them destinations for customers from every corner of the country and an embodiment of Mexico’s conflicted relationship with firearms.

The Constitution enshrines the right to own them, and there are millions of weapons in civilian hands, with a black market flooded by American-made guns. But the two legal stores, military-run and tightly regulated, are emblematic of government efforts to better control Mexico’s guns.

Private security guards, sport shooters and others make strenuous trips to the stores, which look like a cross between a D.M.V. office and a small museum. Applicants need to present nearly a dozen documents at the stores — once they’ve waited a few months for approval to buy a gun.

Cristian Ulices Ocaranza Marquez, 32, a municipal police officer, rented a van with six other officers and drove eight hours from his home to Mexico City for guns. His state, Colima, has one of the highest homicide rates in the country, and he is barred from bringing his work gun home, so he applied for a handgun, waited three months for approval and paid $518. (The average monthly salary in Mexico is roughly $320.)

Back from errands. I saw a cybertruck in the wild, at close range. It makes a Chevrolet Apache look good. And that takes some doing.

TOO LOCAL NEWS: Property taxes and school funding are a big deal this year

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cinde Warmington says New Hampshire’s Education Freedom Account (EFA) program is picking taxpayers’ pockets and driving up local property taxes.

Josiah Bartlett Center President Drew Cline has a one-word fact check: “Ridiculous.”

“That’s one of the more ridiculous claims that comes out in politics,” Cline told NHJournal during a recent podcast interview. “It really doesn’t have any bearing on reality whatsoever.”

Democrats have made the claim that GOP state education policy is “downshifting” costs onto local taxpayers, driving up property taxes, central to their 2026 messaging.

Warmington has called the EFA program “a pickpocket scheme taking money out of the pockets of working people” and “driving up everybody’s property taxes.”

TOO LOCAL NEWS: Gordon Darby at it again

The debate is over clean air, but the company that’s been making money off New Hampshire’s now-revoked vehicle inspection mandate is muddying the waters on the environmental issues involved.

The state’s decision to dump mandatory vehicle inspections created a conflict with federal emissions-testing requirements. However, the Trump administration’s Environmental Protection Agency announced earlier this year that it would clear federal obstacles to shutting down the program and let New Hampshire remain free of an inspection mandate.

But on Friday, Gordon-Darby Holdings and New Hampshire resident Marilyn C. Jonas filed separate objections to those EPA actions. It’s the latest in a series of legal objections that have already produced two federal lawsuits.

At the center of their objections is an analysis Gordon-Darby commissioned from Ramboll Americas Engineering Solutions. The consultant contends the state’s modeling inflated emissions from certain buses and trucks, obscuring the relative impact of eliminating inspections.

Among its examples: a model that, according to Ramboll, attributed more nitrogen oxide emissions to 13 buses in Hillsborough County than to 280,075 passenger cars.

    • Pat

Jesus Christ, how much were they pulling in off that inspection racket that they can afford to pursue, what is this, like their 10th federal lawsuit? You can’t even walk into federal court for under a million bucks.

      • R.J.

Just shit tons of money. Grifting is a never ending basket of gold.

      • DEG

Gordon Darby is the parent company. They’re based in Kentucky. They do business administering government programs nationwide.

Gordon Darby had a subsidiary based in NH. The subsidiary’s only job was to administer the NH inspection program.

The subsidiary isn’t suing. It’s the parent company suing on behalf of the subsidiary.

      • Pat

Ahh, that makes more sense. Even still, they must have been absolutely pillaging if the cost of litigation is commensurate with the potential upside.

      • DEG

I don’t know how much Gordon-Darby got from NH.

Average cost of car inspections in NH was around $30, if I remember correctly, at the time of repeal. State law did not set the cost of inspections. However, state law does specify that $3 per inspection goes from the inspection mechanic to the state government. The money went into a dedicated fund shared with municipalities. I don’t remember what the fund was earmarked for. However, the inspection repeal ended the fund which is why inspection repeal could be part of the budget. Being part of the budget was the weapon the State House of Representatives used to strong-arm the State Senate and governor into signing off on the end of car inspections.

TOO LOCAL NEWS: LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

Portsmouth Democratic state Rep. Ned Raynolds wants you to know that when he told House Majority Leader Jason Osborne he wanted to “put you on the ground and rub gravel in your face. And make you eat sh*t,” he didn’t mean it in a violent way.

“If you read my (message) carefully, it’s insulting, it’s profane, but it’s not a sense of violence,” Raynolds told Seacoastonline. Instead, he called it an “invitation.”

Raynolds means it, too. It’s a fringe benefit of being part of the political left: You’re never the bad guy. Even when you want to beat the crap out of someone over their politics.

Here is Raynolds’ full “invitation” to Osborne:

And one more: NH made silent comedy film found in Japan

A silent comedy filmed in New Hampshire more than a century ago was recently found in Japan, and plans have been set to show the film in early November in the state where it was created.

Van-ar-chy, a 1919 film starring the US entertainer and film-maker Billy B Van, was rediscovered by Kohei Okita, a film student in Sendai, Japan. While researching early cinema related to the word “anarchy”, Okita bought several old film reels at an antique store in Japan and found the comedy starring Van, whom he did not recognize, according to a Van-ar-chy news release.

Internet searching then connected Okita with John Tariot, a Van archivist. Tariot identified the comedy as Van-ar-chy, one of Van’s films made in New Hampshire in the communities of Newport and Sunapee.
