“Trump Expects Iran Talks to Resume This Week”

    And nothing else happened?

    • UnCivilServant

Talks with the Islamic Republic’s remnants are pointless.

There’s no deal that they will Honor.
There’s no single point of authority to agree to anything.
There’s no gain by giving them room to breathe when they will just revert to “Death to America” mode.

      • Drake

What deal have they broken? What deal did we ever honor?
Who killed the other side’s negotiating team, leader, family, and a school full of girls in a sneak attack?

Nothing will happen because our current leaders are incapable of making deals.

      • Fourscore

Fortunately the US has the leader (bigliest) that has a coherent? plan? for Iran’s future.

All they have to do is sit in the corner until they are called on.

      • Not Adahn

How many broken deals will need to be listed before you admit you’re full of shit? Or will you just reflexively say “those don’t count?”

      • Drake

One would be a start. The deal with Obama wasn’t broken until Trump tore it up.

      • (((Jarflax

I see we have moved on from us being Israel’s deluded puppet to being the villains. I get opposing the war, I get thinking the war was stupid politically, I definitely get thinking we should not have started it unless we had the will to finish it. I even agree with those ideas to some extent. But this idea that Iran was peaceful and not a problem until we launched an unprovoked attack is insanity I expect to see from the America hating, western civilization hating, left.

      • AlexinCT

“One would be a start. The deal with Obama wasn’t broken until Trump tore it up.”

That’s because the Obama deal paid them to fund terrorism and encouraged them to build and use a nuke.

      • Drake

Good guys or bad, we have become deal incapable. (This administration and the last)

Every time a deal seems close, Trump says or does something crazy to ruin it. No deals with Russia despite the Anchorage thing, no deal with Iran, we can’t even do a trade deal with Canada.

Maybe that worked with NY contractors, it isn’t working in a world sliding towards more war.

      • AlexinCT

“Good guys or bad, we have become deal incapable. (This administration and the last)”

Explain to me how you make a deal with someone that wants to kill you again. What? You make a deal to only let them kill you a little? I am always baffled that people really think you can make a deal with people that do not want one. Or that you can avoid war when you just don’t want to fight. The world is a mess today because we have forgotten that some people need killing, cause they refuse to play nice.

Trump’s only fault is to hope he can negotiate with these people. We should have been killing every single one of them until they called uncle. That is how the old western world kept these barbarians in line before oil money allowed that cancerous ideology of theirs to ruin it all.

      • juris imprudent

So Alex we just kill them all? The Trump admin seems to have really believed their own bullshit that the Iranian people were going to overthrow the govt there.

      • AlexinCT

“So Alex we just kill them all?”

No JI, you kill enough of them until the others get the message. It has worked in the past. And worked well. read up on Rome’s problem with Cartage and how that was solved.

“ The Trump admin seems to have really believed their own bullshit that the Iranian people were going to overthrow the govt there.”

The Iranian people tried. And these monsters killed them en masse. What’s the number at now? Something like 100K just this year murdered? The lesson here is to never give up your guns and that either socialism or islam are cancerous and deadly ideologies you will have to bloodily fight your way ut of.

      • EvilSheldon

So Alex we just kill them all? The Trump admin seems to have really believed their own bullshit that the Iranian people were going to overthrow the govt there.

        (Not Alex.)

I hate to say it, but that might be where we are at.

That wasn’t the solution fifty years ago. It probably wasn’t the solution ten years ago. But today? We might have painted ourselves into a corner that only real horrorshow will get us out of.

Probably the most dangerous thing a head of state can do is start reading his own press.

      • juris imprudent

Damn Alex you disappoint me. I thought you were going to actually argue for genocide. All Shias must die! [And you sort of do by invoking Carthage.]

Nope, you’ve just got your head up some neo-con ass. Somewhere buried deep in some corner of the country is a freedom-loving people – we just need to put them in charge!!!

      • AlexinCT

JI, we are at a crossroads where our choice is to fight them, no matter how brutal we need to be, or to kiss modern western society goodbye. To pretend there is a compromise, is to feed the crocodile your neighbors hoping you get eaten last. But you WILL be eaten.

      • juris imprudent

Ah, so you are saying kill them all but attempting to be circumspect about it.

      • AlexinCT

“Ah, so you are saying kill them all but attempting to be circumspect about it.”

Not at all. Making it obvious that them pursuing that agenda of conquering humanity in the name of that ideology will result in life ending consequences requires you to do it in the open and vocally. We need to stop pretending they are a religion of peace and that their invasion of the west is something good, but more importantly, that we can live with. You don’t celebrate and compromise with cancer. You end it.

      • juris imprudent

Alex you’re ignoring that their hatred of Sunnis rivals their hatred of us infidels. You think it is all about us. It isn’t.

      • juris imprudent

AND they were not willing to slaughter 100s of thousands of their own people

So, the Soviets just didn’t kill enough people to keep dissent under control?

      • AlexinCT

“Alex you’re ignoring that their hatred of Sunnis rivals their hatred of us infidels. You think it is all about us. It isn’t.”

Are you being dense on purpose? Did you miss my comment that the insanity is about some belief that if they murder the Jews en masse and start warring with the Dar al-Harb, that 12th hidden Mahdi will finally show up and solve the schism between Shia and Sunni? And they believe it will go their way, allowing them to then rule over the Dar al-islam?

BTW, you do realize that this hatred of anyone that doesn’t believe what they do is a direct mirror of what the left’s socialists suffer from, which is why these two ideologies have found common ground until they defeat the west? After that they will settle the score bloodily, like the Iranian Ayatollah did back in the 1980s in Iran. Those poor Iranian commies got it worse than the people supporting the old deposed Shah regime.

      • AlexinCT

“So, the Soviets just didn’t kill enough people to keep dissent under control?”

They did for decades until Gorbachev got a continence. Note that Putin still feels that was a betrayal of the cabal and the movement, which is why he is still after the old Soviet republics.

      • WTF

So, the Soviets just didn’t kill enough people to keep dissent under control?

Stalin was willing, Gorbachev was not.

      • WTF

Apparently I’m not willing to close tags.

      • juris imprudent

Alex – you keep saying the socialists want to defeat the west. Socialism is the west, just as much as liberalism is. Sometimes, you are so strung up in your own shit that you make no sense at all.

      • juris imprudent

Stalin was willing, Gorbachev was not.

Uh huh, we just went straight from Stalin to Gorbie.

If Jaruzelski had just killed of Walesa and more of that ilk, Poland would still be a glorious people’s republic, right?

    • Banjos

Two weeks to stop the spread!

      • AlexinCT

        Nuke it already?

    • WTF

I don’t understand why we haven’t identified any resistance inside Iran and been running weapons to them. It must exist, and I would assume Israel knows who/where they are even if we don’t.

      • AlexinCT

Lessons in the ME about arming one group to fight another? Usually those weapons end up pointed at us.

      • UnCivilServant

The Kurds stole the first shipment.

I’m not sure if anyone identified another route to deliver anything.

      • WTF

We mistakenly assumed the Kurds would be a reasonable route. I would guess that Israel probably has better intelligence.

      • Drake

The fact is that current government is popular with the Shia majority. The war and the death of their leader has most of them rallying around the flag.

      • UnCivilServant

Let me guess, your source is the IRGC News Wire

      • Not Adahn

Lol. “Rallying” is mandatory and dissent is punishable by death. You totally have your finger on the pulse of the Iranian public.

      • Ted S.

He’s still mourning Netanyahu’s death in a drone strike.

      • Drake

        “It must exist”

Our foreign policy is based on this sort of wishful thinking.

      • juris imprudent

        It must exist

There it is, the delusion at the heart of it all.

      • WTF

So you believe there is no internal resistance, at all, to the Iranian regime?
        Okay.

      • EvilSheldon

Yup. There isn’t any (functional) resistance to the government in Iran, and even if there was, there’s no way to get them anything.

      • juris imprudent

        no internal resistance

Well we’ve had internal resistance to our own government – does that make it a legitimate reflection of the will of the people?

      • EvilSheldon

Some elaboration – the Iranian government is unpopular. That doesn’t mean that there has to be an effective resistance movement in Iran – simply that the government is brutal and totalitarian enough to identify and squelch any signs of uprising.

Truly totalitarian societies on the order of Nazi Germany or China under Mao, don’t tend to have popular resistances.

      • DrOtto

What are the Afghani freedom fighters up to these days?

      • WTF

does that make it does that make it a legitimate reflection of the will of the people?

So you think the Iranian regime is a legitimate reflection of the will of the people? What are you basing that on? (Some people, sure, but the majority?) Keep in mind that nearly 100,000 were killed for protesting the regime.

      • AlexinCT

The resistance in our country wants to end the working government we had in the past – not a perfect one, but one that semi-served the people – and to replace it with a new cabal of feudal lords and the practice of plundering from the productive, cause envy. Government to serve the basest of life loser’s fantasies.

More than 2/3rds of Iranian people do not want the current regime and its apocalyptic ideology. They however can’t change it because their vote doesn’t matter and they are disarmed and watched over by armed forces paid by the government they don’t want. I am not one to go save the oppressed of the world, but in this case the mullah’s desire to nuke Israel and start a war to bring about that fantasy of some Mahdi coming to finally solve the schism between Shia and Sunni islam, is something I would like to kill dead.

      • juris imprudent

What are you basing that on?

That the regime endures. It has not upset enough of the 90 odd million people in the country to cause a general uprising.

      • juris imprudent

More than 2/3rds of Iranian people do not want the current regime

Now THAT is how you neo-con!

      • EvilSheldon

What are the Afghani freedom fighters up to these days?

Afghanistan wasn’t totalitarian, it was primitive. Different pathology. It didn’t have the resources to put together a real totalitarian state.

      • juris imprudent

Were all of you born after 1989?

The fucking Iron Curtain was impregnable, remember? None of our intelligence apparatus predicted the fall of communism in Poland or the DDR, did they?

That’s how failed ideals fall – the people just stop playing along. Don’t fucking tell me that the Polish Communists at the end lacked sufficient brutality to keep the regime in power.

      • WTF

That the regime endures. It has not upset enough of the 90 odd million people in the country to cause a general uprising.

Or maybe, just maybe, because 100,000 were slaughtered when they started and they have no guns.
Maybe we should get them some guns.

      • AlexinCT

“That the regime endures. It has not upset enough of the 90 odd million people in the country to cause a general uprising.”

The fact the regime has all the guns and is willing to kill the any number of the masses to retain their hold on power, is why the regime endures. Numbers of people do not matter in that case. At least not until all the people realize death is better than their current subjugation. BTW, that is the current economic strategy against the Iranian regime, if you don’t understand it.

      • juris imprudent

WTF – the Shah’s regime fell because it lacked popular support within the country. The mullahs will fall for the same reason – assuming they lose that support. As long as they have it, and regardless of your ability to comprehend why they do, they will be in power.

I don’t understand why the typical Iranian believes the shit they do, but I do understand that we aren’t going to change that.

      • WTF

the Shah’s regime fell because it lacked popular support within the country.

AND they were not willing to slaughter 100s of thousands of their own people.
        You left that part out.

      • juris imprudent

Numbers of people do not matter in that case.

Says the guy claiming that 2/3rds of Iranians don’t want the government they have. Says the guy that doesn’t want to admit that he wants to kill off 90 odd million people.

      • juris imprudent

AND they were not willing to slaughter 100s of thousands of their own people.

Well, that would’ve solidified the support of the people, no doubt. I mean, that’s the only way to maintain power, right?

      • WTF

Well, that would’ve solidified the support of the people, no doubt. I mean, that’s the only way to maintain power, right?

        The only way? No.
But it is effective against a disarmed populace.

      • AlexinCT

“AND they were not willing to slaughter 100s of thousands of their own people.
        You left that part out.
        ”

        Ouch, that left a mark.

      • juris imprudent

But it is effective against a disarmed populace.

Like the USSR and Poland, right?

    • Not Adahn

      One would be a start.

A less cowardly individual would admit that “no amount of evidence will move me from my religious faith in the righteousness of America’s enemies.”

A year after her election, Mayor Katie Wilson wants to upgrade housing and transit in the Emerald City. But moderate councilors and divisions within her own base are undermining her.

      • AlexinCT

The left has always delivered on socialism’s reality. Always. People seem to confound the fact that the promises are always bullshit that can never come about. But what they do is what socialism is always about: plundering the successful by the new feudal lords, with crumbs being shared with the rubes that voted the socialists into power. it’s feudalism with a veneer of legitimacy, because they (the new feudal lords) use the masses to get rid of the old feudal lords.

“That isn’t the promise that wins them elections.”

Correct. It is all lies and appeals to envy, after canceling shame, that does that does that for them. That coupled with the institutions of education, by design, failing to educate people on the real history of socialism in practice. That is why we have people today that think Hitler – an avowed ex-marxist that invented a new brand of national socialism because he saw the inherent flaws in international socialism – being considered as the epitome of evil, while histories biggest butchers, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, the Kims, the Castros, and so on, are not only given a pass, but eulogized by people that want more of that.

      • juris imprudent
