Fun sports weekend for my family. My daughter managed to score two goals against a team of fat white girls, although she insists the third one she scored that was called offsides was bullshit. No big deal, they still won.

My son in his second tournament of the year got the start in game 2. He threw two strong innings against a big Mexican team. He ended up getting pulled in the third after walking the bases loaded and a weak play on soft contact at third resulted in 4ER. They still won 9-8. It made sense because after the game he said they stopped swinging at the knuckleball the second time through. It happens. Unfortunately though…

¡enlaces!

The remaining games on Sunday got rained out. So he had to dwell on it a bit longer.

Bolsonaro, o Menor

Mexico apparently used to allow el presidenté to be a dual citizen…Not anymore of course.

I’m sure several of you are already making the joke about El Presidenté Mujer being a Chinese citizen.

Bringing drones down with lasers is the 21st Century we were waiting for.

Florida Woman seeking reelection gets an endorsement from Colombia’s new right wing president.

The big news of course is Flavio Bolsonaro in Brazil (yes Jair’s son) sending Lula to a runoff. Oddly enough, I had to search for a headline with this news. Nothing on the homepages from my usual sources, but whatever, here is Mother Jones losing their shit.

Its funny because this came on at the gym and my oldest asked, “is this Rush?” I can see why he made the connection but I had to explain him not every rock band with a shill voiced singer is Rush.

Dual citizenship is BS and should not be allowed anywhere.

    • Pat

I don’t really have a problem with it in concept, although I’d certainly want it disallowed for holders of political office, particularly national offices.

      • Rat on a train

        expand to government employees

      • rhywun

I respectfully disagree. It degrades the whole idea of “citizenship”. If your “loyalty” (gross, I know but bear with me) lies with two countries, it can lie anywhere or nowhere.

I guess that makes me a “nationalist”. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • rhywun

holders of political office, particularly national offices

We have DemSocs about to take power who openly and proudly hate the United States. I have little doubt that many of them hold “dual citizenship”. At the very least they are clearly more “loyal” to their country of birth.

        Strange times we’re living in.

      • Pat

If your “loyalty” (gross, I know but bear with me) lies with two countries, it can lie anywhere or nowhere.

I understand the logic (which is why I think it should be disallowed for political office holders, and I think ROAT is on the right track with at least certain government employees as well), but that’s also what I kind of like about it. If America spirals down the toilet, I wouldn’t mind being able to hop on a plane and escape to somewhere else without any paperwork fuckery. Then again, if America spirals down the toilet, I can’t really imagine the better alternative to which I’d flee.

No dual citizens and no naturalized citizens in any elected office and scrutinized for appointed offices.

Gustave takes Rhys pick and knocks it outnof the park.

    • Tonio

Agree, but you can’t solve the problem as long as other countries knowingly grant citizenship to US citizens. Not sure if they have to report that to US Dept of State (because treaties).

a friend and his wife both have it. they are Americans born abroad, his father is Austrian, and her father American.

      It fits in that circumstance.

      • rhywun

I would just require them to pick one – doesn’t matter to me which one. As it is, it sounds like a lot of people can e.g. vote in multiple national elections. I don’t see how that can be allowed.

  2. Pat

Had to be racism since she was playing against possibly the only fat white girls in Arizona. Look into a suit.

You should note, the words “fat”, “white” and “girls” are relative terms.

Oh, it gets better, or worse, depending on your POV:

This story was originally published by the Guardian and is reproduced here as part of the Climate Desk collaboration.

More fire, more ash, more crime, more death. And a globally important ecosystem driven ever more rapidly towards a point of no return.

This is the gold standard for pants-shitting climate alarmism.

Hmm, where have I heard about this before?

When Granite Staters cast their ballots in November, they will be asked to consider limiting property taxes for schools.

Londonderry School District officials said they could have to make some major cuts to school programs, bus routes and, potentially, jobs if the measure passes.

In a meeting earlier this month, school leaders sat down with the public to talk about what exactly they might have to cut in the event of a roughly $2 million shortfall.

Superintendent Dan Black told News 9 it would be a sizable cut. Things that would normally be considered standard expenses within the school district, such as bus routes, up-to-date electronics and sports teams, are at risk.

    Hmm…. oh! Thomas Sowell.

    • Brochettaward

The memory of the media gleefully reporting on how monuments that were free to the public to access being shut-down and armed guards posted as if this was the natural result of a government shutdown never fades for me.

Like that’s not even remotely clever. It reveals just how ridiculous the government is, and yet grown adults took that shit seriously.

    • Pat

      Hmm…. oh! Thomas Sowell.

I’m going to be legitimately heartbroken when he’s gone. Seems one of the few public intellectuals who isn’t a total piece of shit.

District consolidation doesn’t work. It’s been the state policy for the last fifty years. It’s just led to larger and more expensive districts. Bigger empires need more management layers and more pay for expanded responsibility.

The state AG has been mixed on election law stuff

Fuentes posted dozens of social media posts falsely declaring that more than 100 New Hampshire House GOP candidates have been endorsed by the Free State Project in the upcoming election. Fuentes also used FSP imagery in his bogus posts.

One of those Republicans is House Election Law Committee Chairman Ross Berry, R-Weare, who is now asking state prosecutors to pursue criminal charges against the progressive activist. Berry’s complaint seeks Class A misdemeanor prosecutions, which carry a possible sentence of up to a year in jail.

“This was not a mistake,” Berry said of Fuentes posts. “It was a lie, built 78 times and aimed at voters weeks before an election.”

According to Berry’s complaint, Fuentes posted 78 graphics on Oct. 10 naming 136 candidates across 76 communities: 135 Republican candidates on the November ballot and one write-in candidate.

The graphics reproduced in the complaint pair the Free State Project’s name and porcupine logo with the word “ENDORSED” above lists of candidates. The organization says it endorsed none of them.

The Free State Project, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit, is prohibited from endorsing or opposing candidates for elected office. It has publicly repudiated the graphics and asked those responsible to remove them and post corrections.

“They should not fabricate endorsements or use our logo to mislead voters,” FSP Executive Director Eric Brakey said.

    • EvilSheldon

Do my eyes deceive me? Did someone just refer to Nick fucking Fuentes as a, “…progressive activist?”

Have we finally all internalized the idea that Nazism is a left-wing ideology?

        It was a different Fuentes.

BREAKING: The Talarico campaign and the NYT (who else) are now pushing back against the psychiatric hospitalization story. But the pushback is based on “we saw evidence but we can’t share it.”

The images, which the campaign provided to the Times on the condition they not be published for security reasons, offer the clearest independent evidence yet supporting Talarico’s account that he was home recovering from the flu and contradict claims that he instead traveled more than 1,000 miles away for treatment at an Ohio behavioral health center.

Yet they haven’t refuted Nick Sortor’s claim that a hospital employee said he was at the facility, and are beating the “malpractice” (HIPPA violation for the employee/hospital) drum very, very hard.

    Enemy of the People

But the main issue here is that the republican party, pretty much top to bottom, is openly anti-EV. Republican candidates opposed electric vehicles, promised to harm them, and then followed through on that promise, causing massive US job losses and making EV charging harder.

So, directing his political bribes solely to the republican party seems like a questionable decision for a CEO of an electric car company. He may claim that his interests are in issues beyond EVs, but regardless of that, these actions have harmed his company, not helped it.

Unsurprisingly, these bribes have damaged Tesla. Tesla is the only EV brand with negative perception, and it’s directly correlated to Musk’s political activities. His actions haven’t just harmed Tesla domestically, but abroad, where the company has lost business opportunities in Canada, Australia, Germany, and Denmark, and has seen falling sales in most territories, along with protests and embarrassed owners.

Bribes? Does that mean political contributions to Democrats are bribes?

    Somehow I doubt it.

MLK, like him or not, was arrested 29 times and spent about 5 months in jail total. And on top of that was the FBI surveillance and harassment meant to drive him to suicide. Where are the libertarians willing to make similar sacrifices?

Whoever is the next LP nominee should campaign from a prison cell for refusing to pay income taxes. Take a page from Emerson or Debs.

  21. The Late P Brooks

Musk’s shady self-dealing gives us a sense of why these bribes are happening. Musk’s politics clearly harm his company, Tesla, but the lack of oversight associated with the scam era brought on by having a felon in the White House still benefits Musk. He’s been able to get away with breaking the law as the criminals in the White House refuse to enforce it.

    Fling that shit, little monkey.
