When I got transportation, I started skipping all classes and would just show up with fake attendance notes to get the work, do it on my own and then submit it. My grades improved, but it only lasted a few months before the dreaded guidance counselors got on my ass. They forced me out of high school into some bullshit online only course for retards. I finished my last English class in 2 days to the disbelief of the “teacher”/guard they put in charge of the room I was in.

Maine oyster farmer Graham Platner’s Senate campaign is in crisis after reports of offensive online messages over many years.
Many national Democrats seized on Platner as a solution to the party’s problems with young men and working-class voters in the wake of their embarrassing losses in 2024.

Platner, a 41-year-old military veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, made crude comments about Black diners, rural white people, police officers and sexual assault victims in years-old comments on Reddit.
CNN first reported Thursday on comments from “around 2021” where Platner called “all” cops bastards and described himself as a communist on Reddit. Platner also said rural white people were “actually” racist and stupid.
Other media reports followed detailing posts from 2013, in which he asked, “Why don’t black people tip?” and said in a thread on underwear created to stop sexual assaults that people should “take some responsibility for themselves and not get so f–ked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to?”
In another post from 2018, he wrote that if people “expect to fight fascism without a good semi-automatic rifle, they ought to do some reading of history.”
Maybe he would be better than Susan Collins. Who wouldn’t?

Vermont state Sen. Samuel Douglass (R) resigned from his post on Friday after being named as a participant in a Young Republican group chat where racist and antisemitic jokes were made.
In a Friday statement, Douglass wrote “for all concerned, me, my wife, my family, I must resign (effective Monday at noon).”

I haven’t followed this too closely but if what I have seen was complete and accurate, this guy didn’t even say anything racist, someone else just made a racist-ish comment in response to something he said.

Biogas is a renewable energy source created through the breakdown of organic waste such as manure, food scraps, sewage and crop residues. This process yields methane-rich gas, used to make energy, and digestate, a nutrient-rich byproduct usable as fertilizer.
Capturing this methane, which will be produced anyway if the waste isn’t managed, is good for the earth’s atmosphere as well, since methane is 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas. We should capture as much of it as we can. Better still if the captured gas can also offset fossil fuel use for energy.
The benefits of biogas are undeniable. Biogas facilities produce energy 24/7, 365 days a year and have a reliability rate of 95 percent. Compared with solar and wind power — with approximately 25 percent and 35 percent reliability rates, respectively, depending on location — biogas provides us with one of the best options we have for sourcing power that is both reliable and renewable.
Beyond its consistent energy output, biogas plays a critical role in preserving America’s rural communities. Biogas systems can generate new revenue streams for communities and reduce costs for farmers.

It’s common in landfills but it’s not worth the equipment and preparation to capture it. You have to add a top liner to the garbage pile, piping, filters, compressors ect.
People forget – cost in dollars is a measure of the resources needed to produce and deliver products. Most of those dollars are a measure of the energy used.

Most often the gas is cleaned a bit, then used to operate huge caterpillar engines, which turn generators. Its not the most efficient way to make electric, but if you have a waste-stream that includes a viable fuel source, why not. One I did this spring uses landfill gas to put 2.4 GW on the grid. Rumpke in Cincinnati has a collection system, they clean the gas, then sell it to Duke energy. People burn it in their homes.

The biotech company my wife used to work for did biogas.
They spent millions making facilities to produce it.
Less than 5 years in they got out of that racket and sold that entire part of the business.
For the U.S., embracing biogas is not just an environmental imperative but also a strategic move to reduce our dependence on volatile fossil-fuel markets. Internationally, the European Union has already recognized biogas production as an effective strategy to reduce reliance on gas imports from unfriendly nations.

The data show strong bipartisan backing, with over 80 percent of Americans supporting federal investments in converting waste to energy. They view biogas as a practical, local and environmentally responsible solution.
