Due to a period of unseasonably warm weather here in Phoenix…you get the gif.

¡enlaices!
Someone check Kalshi and see if there’s a line on Mexico fucking up the World Cup.
In this age of AI deepfakes, I don’t believe them.
A serious article on how the war with Iran could affect economies south of the border.
American killed in a Cuban boating accident.
Cuban president voices concerns about being killed in a Cuban boating accident.
H/T: Suthenboy….I give you….the Bolivian Air Force!
As I said elsewhere on the internet, if I didn’t hear this song 20 years ago on the radio, I might assume this was an AI video. Yes …it was actually 27 years ago.

Today’s theme seems to be ethnic and also sexiness.
I’m not even a little mad about that.
Sexnicity. Let’s make it a thing.
Apparently it already is.
I’m good with both.
All of you cishet white male shitlords aren’t cishet white male shitlording correctly.
Although… I’ve been reliably informed that being attracted to people outside your race/ethnicity is colonialist fetishization and is even more shitlordy than only being attracted to your own race/ethnicity. So, carry on then.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t? I’m beginning to think people who push that sort of agenda might not be operating in good faith.
And being attracted to your own race as a white person makes you racist.
To be fair, some proportion of them are simply too stupid to realize the contradiction. The cleverer of them are just evil.
En Fuego!
Bolivia is just spreading the wealth around.
I am suddenly craving a burger for some reason.
Did you just donate blood?
No, but I suspect there was a significant flow of blood away from the digestive system and brain stem.
John Brennan: Attack On Iran Is “Drastically Bad Mistake” On Par With 2003 Invasion Of Iraq
Now, I am starting to thing Iran was a good choice, if he was against it.
There is little evidence more powerful.
This whole thing is a wild card regarding who is for and against it. Even people I know personally who aren’t crazy leftists are not sure what to think.
I’m not sure what to think but given the complete lockstep opposition from every Democrat, I’m starting to wonder.
Stopped clocks and all that. Democrats will oppose any military action under a Republican administration, then completely revert the moment a Democrat is elected and either intervenes in exactly the same manner, or continues the war they opposed 8 seconds earlier.
I’m not sad to see Khamenei and his merry henchman sucking on the business end of a bunker buster, but the likelihood of our intervention resulting in anything other than another in our long string of ME disasters is slim. The best course of action we could take is to say “keep your shit together enough to keep commerce flowing and otherwise oppress and kill each other to your heart’s content.” Trump 2.0 is, against all possible odds, turning out even more inept and retarded than Trump 1.0.
I’m not sure what to think. Hoping for the best and hoping we don’t put a whole bunch of soldiers on the ground.
I’m starting to think Iran was a problem that both sides were able to benefit from perpetuating as a problem.
Ayup.
We got your snow here. Heavy, slushy snow.
Here’s an awesome idea. Have the U.S. taxpayers assume all the risks of oil tankers dodging missiles and drones in the Strait of Hormuz. Also telling the Navy to sail with miles of the Iranian coast.
https://m.economictimes.com/news/international/world-news/trump-directs-us-agency-to-insure-gulf-shipping-says-navy-may-escort-oil-tankers-through-strait-of-hormuz/articleshow/128989540.cms
At least it reads they are paying for it.
The London Market is seized. Understandably.
So I’ll get a premium check?
Minus the cost for the naval escort…
Reduces the bill for this by 0.0 followed by many zeros percent.
Win!
This hasn’t been our defacto policy for the past 40 years?
Traffic justice is served
The feds approved the congestion tolls under former President Joe Biden, and the MTA launched the program in early January 2025. It imposes a $9 daytime base fee on drivers who enter Manhattan south of 60th Street, and uses the revenue to fund mass transit improvements. The MTA said it raked in $562 million from the fees last year.
Duffy sent a letter to the MTA last February demanding the agency stop charging the fees or else face funding cuts. The MTA responded with a lawsuit.
“We’ve said it all along, and Judge Liman’s clear, detailed ruling leaves no doubt: congestion pricing is legal. It’s here to stay. And it works,” MTA Chair Janno Lieber wrote in a statement. “Traffic is down, business is up, and we’re making crucial investments in a transit system that moves millions of people a day. Today — once again — Sec. Duffy failed and New York is winning.”
Take that, LOSERS.
That money will be spent in the most efficient way imagineable. Needs of the many, und so weiter.
But surge pricing by Uber and the like is greedy price gouging.
That is for profit, not the greater good you bourgeois pig.
Except they were claiming it would “rake in” a billion dollars a year.
It’s almost like the purported benefits are in opposition to each other.
So, like every other “sin” tax, then.
18 year old drinking is also legal. GFY.
PM5K Spider one doesn’t look at all like his bro, Rob Zombie.
I do like RZ solo stuff, as well as White Zombie.
To MS’s point, it is hard to believe that song came out 27 years ago.
I was utterly unaware until today that Spider One is Rob Zombie’s brother.
It surprised me when I found out from a girl I snookered in high school.
snookered in high school
Snugged her cue ball up against the 2 and froze the 1 on the far short-rail with no 1- or 2-rail escape?
It was high school, forgive me for bouncing it off the pocket.
Lewd.
I saw PM5K tour for that album.
Super fun show.
Please never feel as though you need an excuse to post the gif.
87 Fahrenheit in these parts.
Still too hot for early March
You said it. Especially when you don’t have central air and have been putting off installing a mini-split for 2 years…
I went from running the heat to having to throw a window unit in my bedroom to sleep in the span of 72 hours.
The military plane was attempting to land on Friday evening at El Alto International Airport when it skidded off the runway and ploughed into a nearby road, local authorities said.
That’s an interesting way to reduce the money supply.
👏 Golf 👏 Clap 👏
Even Democrats don’t want it
Andru Volinsky and fellow supporters of a state income tax to fund education spending said at a Tuesday press conference that their goal was to “start a conversation” about the best way to pay for public schools. And it worked.
Granite State politicians had plenty to say in response to the proposal — all of it bad.
“No income tax. No sales tax. No raising taxes on working families.”
“When Volinsky ran for governor on an income tax five years ago, he lost the Democratic primary. If he wants to try again, that’s his choice.”
“Granite Staters do not want an income tax. Period.”
And that was the response from Democrats.
Just soak the property owners and guilt people into voting for bond measures every couple years like the rest of the country.
Pay for government schools?
Auction them off.
If they want state income taxes, there are three neighboring states to which they can move.
I’ll wager most people in that group came from one of those places.
Contrast with WA democrats with complete control of the state government shoving through an unpopular and unconstitutional income tax.
Sadly all that have the means have moved to our side of the border and the strong ‘conservatives’ here refuse to divest of any state or federal land like the communists that they actually are.
The only American trying to defect to Cuba in 2026.
Michael Moore was busy.
Cuba accused the 10 people on the boat of planning “an infiltration with terrorist aims” and said they opened fire first.
Are we sure it wasn’t just a hookers and blackjack run?
Send lawyers, guns, and money.
I understand that they had a shitload of guns and tactical gear. It sounds like some PMC wannabes figured out too late that real life isn’t like Thunder in Paradise…
That said, real life could still be like Island Thunder.
Thunder in Paradise.
That show was awesome
Has anyone seen TEDs’? This just seems to be screaming for a shitty Jay Ferguson music link.
Thinking more like the opening of The Substitute.
Yes. It’s totally possible to transform the economy overnight using methods that take decades to come to fruition.
It gets better, Chipper, so much better:
I wish the very best for the Cuban people. They deserve so much better than this.
The Democrats are now the party of fiscal sanity.

Ah, good, someone already linked to the relevant xkcd in the comments:

I resent the extent to which that one captures my privacy schizo ethos, but it still always gets a smirk out of me. And in my defense, I am operating under no illusion that my efforts will ever thwart a state actor. I just want to give as little data to ad agencies as possible and make it inconvenient enough for a thief to toss my stolen laptop in the bin after a few unsuccessful attempts at guessing my encryption passphrase.
I’m kind of in the opposite corner. I give them so much stuff they think no one could be this stupid and just skip past me, rather than waste their time.
I’m the guy that one snoop shows his co-snoop, “Get a load of this BS, I’m not falling for that again”
I have become the opposite. I know there is no such thing as “security” or “privacy” anymore, and I resent being forced to pretend there is in certain quarters.
For accuracy, it’s “state actor” vs. “non state actor”.

I hate people
Puts me in mind of the disturbingly regular Linux Mint security breaches.
I just switched my laptop to Linux Mint. 😳
What, if any, security software should I install??😟
That one’s a fairly old bug, and to be fair, if you’re upgrading an existing install, the compromised ISOs aren’t really an issue. Best practice is to run MD5 sum checks on any ISO you download, and that goes for any distro. Manjaro has had a couple of similar incidents, and has also let their website SSL cert lapse several times. Shit happens.
Yo no hablo. 😕 (To clarify, I had Mint installed by trained professionals.)
If you’re on a pre-install and upgrading through official repos the likelihood of any issues is minimized. If installing from scratch, MD5 hashes are typically published alongside official ISOs, although if the malefactor has compromised the download site itself, they could conceivably publish an MD5 sum matching the malicious ISO. Within a Linux system, you can check MD5 sums with the command: “md5sum .iso”
I can’t understand what you’re saying, but thanks anyway.
I think I will just refrain from downloading anything ever again.
How fucking retarded do you have to be to not put your physical address on your website?
I don’t have mine on my website, but to be fair, my presence is 100% digital with no physical retail space.
Damn I hate that.
Businesses with no hours on their webpage too.
I would like to buy a thing from you but can not figure out where you are or when you are open.
Back before all restaurant takeout orders were processed online through a third-party web page or app, I was always astounded at the number of restaurants that included a to-go menu on their website but failed to put a phone number on it.
Lunch! Tarran strongly suggested “BJJ” before.
BJJ is Brazilian ju jitsu? That doesn’t seem a thing I should dive into. Am I missing something?
Thanks y’all again.
I don’t think you should get into it. It’s a great martial art but it puts a lot of strain on the your knees and hips. Normally those don’t show up until some time of doing it, but IIRC you have issues with those joints and I’m not sure you can risk it. You of course can always ask your physician.
I don’t have mine on my website, but to be fair, my presence is 100% digital with no physical retail space.
In this case, we’re talking about an eye doctor.
However, I automatically reject any website with no physical location as a scammer, no matter what they’re selling.
Well if you’re ever in need of legacy opto-electronic “eyes” for your antiquated British paintball gun, you’re shit outta luck then.
Hey Monocle party-people!
Does anyone use the OG, buttons on the bottom Monocle? It kinds sorta works but I was thinking of archiving that and having the ‘Eyepiece’ branch become the ‘master’ branch, with an eye towards cleaning up the instructions, etc.
Let me know, please.
Just do it, and tell anyone who complains to fork it or pound sand. It’s the GNOME way.
The CADT Model
Lol, that’s gold. Apropos of little, I’m aiming to complete a bootcamp or at least some self study by EOY, towards the end of becoming a domestic code monkey. Even jeet wages would come close to doubling my current pay as a glorified LLM trainer, and I’ve always loved the idea of building, breaking, and re-building shit. Wish me luck.
I don’t even remember the “buttons on the bottom” version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I finally figured out the menu on the side but I really liked the menu bar on the bottom.
Do as you will; Mongo only pawn in game of life.
I have my PO Box and my business phone number on my website. You have no idea how much business I’ve gotten because I have a phone number, I answer my phone, and I talk to people.
I mean, if that’s what the young people are doing these days…
No, it’s not young people, but young people don’t have any money. The people who call me have money.
☎
Talk? To real people? I don’t know about that.
Sketch.
I used to answer every call, because It might just be a possible customer. Then I must have got on some list, and now I get a dozen spam calls every day and they all have local exchange numbers. I might lose some business but I figure if the caller can’t be arsed to leave a message they weren’t that serious. I’m also so loaded with work, so it doesn’t matter that much if I miss out on a few.
This.
Plus I don’t run a business so I am free to not answer any call I don’t know the caller.
I answer nearly every phone call.
It may be money.
Watched Aljazeera.com news broadcast earlier today. Watched NBC nightly news tonight.
Not very different in tone. More information at Aljazeera.
NBC really emphasized casualties (mounting) and Iran attacks (strong, intense, forceful). Iran attacks “precision targeting US bases in the region”. Shows attacks on embassy (this missile landed near the US embassy), showed attack on CIA building (this missile landed close to the CIA building, hiting a block away)
Showed building where new mullahs were going to be elected. Emphasized that Israel struck it. Both broadcasts showed it several times.
Didnt hang out for more. Aljazeera highlighted much more of the damage in Iran. Showed schools and hospitals. Showed school funerals. No hint that it might be an Iranian missile that malfunctioned.
