If I am root, I should be able to delete ANYTHING, even if it is unwise or destructive. All I want to do is get rid of the python 3.9 executable from /usr/bin and replace it with the symlink to the python 3.14 executable in /usr/local/bin . But no, even root is forbidden from removing things from /usr/bin

I’ve gotten things sorted. It just took too many hoops.
So, what prompted this ragefit was that I figured I might use the MacMini that will otherwise be sitting until tax time to do some text to voice work. I found that OmniVoice can be given a sample of sound, say from one of the times I tried to start recording an audiobook, and read out text using that voice. In order to try it, I need to get the software working. Omnivoice wants python 3.10 or higher, but the 3.9 executable was tripping things up.
Right now I’ve got the demo working and the apple silicon is rolling through a sample scene
I would install with homebrew or one of the Python version managers and leave the system version alone so as not to possibly break other stuff.
I know you got it sorted already… but now you have me wondering if you could have just changed your PATH ordering in your shell rc, logged back in (presuming even the UI on MacOS inherits shell variables) and it would see the /usr/local/bin by precedence.
Alternately, I’m sure there’s some python invocation for “latest version on the box”… not something I think of all that often, honestly.
SDF – Ultimately the default $PATH was corrected to put /usr/local/bin first.
But I didn’t do it. I had a pending MacOS update and ran that. After the update, the $PATH had been rearranged.

So, without tweaking, It produces Some pretty impressive results. It’s mispronouncing Nicanor, Emilie and a few other words. It also needs some prompting for acting beats – such as angry or threatening tone – but that is an eerily decent clone of my voice from the short clip I fed into it as reference.

Donald Trump wants to take $1.8 billion dollars of money that taxpayers like you and me have paid to the government, and he wants to give it to his most hardcore followers, the people who stormed the Capitol on January 6. Trump calls them victims of Joe Biden’s weaponization of the Justice Department. It’s corruption. Corruption in plain sight. Trump is going to give his supporters taxpayers’ money.
One of the most troubling things about Trump’s second presidency is that fraud and corruption have been completely normalized. There’s no call for accountability. And it’s a long list. Trump crypto. Trump pumping up Palantir stock after buying a sizable amount for himself. The Campaign Legal Center has a 38-page report, last updated in February, called “Trump’s Corrupt Transactions.” But it all pales in comparison to what began to unfold last week.
You may recall that back in January, Trump, his two oldest sons, and the Trump Organization filed a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service, asking for $10 billion. In it, they alleged that a former IRS employee illegally gave Trump’s tax returns to the New York Times, ProPublica, and “other leftist media outlets.” They fault the IRS for failing to take precautions to prevent it from happening.
The claim for $10 billion stems from an allegation that the disclosure “caused reputational and financial harm, public embarrassment, unfairly tarnished their business reputations, portrayed them in a false light, and negatively affected President Trump and the other Plaintiffs’ public standing.” There is no documentation that the release of tax records caused any of that, and no proof that it resulted in $10 billion in damages. Arguably, given Trump’s reelection and reports that he’s now worth more money than ever, he suffered no damages at all. And even if he did, it would be difficult to isolate them to the IRS leak as opposed to his 34 felony counts of criminal conviction, the January 6 insurrection, or his connection to Jeffrey Epstein.
The problem is not handing out taxpayer dollars. The problem is handing it out to the wrong people. Worst of all, the person handing it out is the absolute personification of evil.
When it comes to deliberate government malfeasance, the appearance of harm is harm.

Chump or not, you can count cards on a single run through an 8-deck shoe. The variance is what matters and it will be small on an 8 deck and, depending on where they make the cut, not at all fruitful. You’re not going to make a quick fortune.
It will probably take them a bit longer than a single shoe to determine that you are counting anyway. But if they ascertain that you are counting they’re going to boot you, and most likely regardless of whether you are a danger to them or actually a chump whose bad enough that your not going to have the advantage; not worth the risk.

I’m thinking that Massie won’t survive this primary. I didn’t agree with some of the stuff he did but he was as close to a good Republican as one could be in Congress. I usually don’t give a shit whether some politician wins or lose but this primary is kind of making sad and definitely more blacked pilled about the GOP.
On one hand I’m loathe to lose Massie.
