Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog

Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog

I reviewed my notes and it seems I have not played any kung fu this year (Kung Fu Rascals doesn’t count). We need some decent Kung Fu. Preferably with Sammo Hung, plenty of humor and some decent fight scenes!

Then I found this! Dirty Tiger, Crazy Frog. So what is it about? IMDB’s summary generator is clear as mud:

Multi-Hand Chick asks Crazy Frog for protection after stealing someone’s wallet at the casino. Foolishly he accepts, and even more foolishly he follows her home and removes his Invincible Armor when she pretends to be willing to sleep with him. Of course she steals it, and when he tries to follow her, he’s stopped by Dirty Tiger who is on a mission to bring Crazy Frog back to his wife. However, Dirty Tiger would really like to have that armor himself…

Who knows what any of that means? It’s got Sammo Hung in it though, so who cares what it means! Get your favorite beverage, some popcorn and enjoy.

Trivia? I have no trivia for this film. If you ask me, the whole fil is trivial. But if you like this film, there is another newer Sammo film out there where Sammo paired up with Jackie Chan, and I can add that to the list.

So watch! Or don’t! Everything is voluntary! Next week, it’s another TedS takeover, with The Apple! Enjoy the alternate dystopian universe of the 1990s as seen from 1980!

Oh, and there’s musical numbers.*

Oh good, Mojo must have seen it.

Who knows what any of that means?

It has me scratching my head.

I’ll dive in a few minutes.

    • R.J.

It is a little more bizarre than I planned for. Chinese humor evolved significantly in the decade after this was made.

      • Common Tater

There are a lot of very slapstick kung fu movies.

Save that comment for next Thursday. ๐Ÿ™‚

An ex gifted me a couple of Stephen Chow’s early HK slapsticks, knowing what a huge fan I am of Shaolin Soccer.

        I find them impenetrable.

Favorite Stephen Chow has to be Kung Fu Hustle. I think it’s brilliant.

      • rhywun

I like that but I prefer Shaolin Soccer. It presses more of my buttons. ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

I always picture Mr. Hung as he appeared in Enter the Dragon.

    • Aloysious

He wasn’t as cool as Bolo (couldn’t remember that name) Yeung, tho.

    • rhywun

      picture Mr. Hung

      ๐Ÿคจ

      • slumbrew

My friend was both certain and incredulous the man was named “Sam Well Hung”

    • Evan from Evansville

“I always picture Mr. Hung as he appeared in Enter the Dragon.”

Wow. Chong-Li for the win. Also fun, he plays a Korean for some reason. “…the fictional persona was reportedly inspired in part by a real-life martial artist named Chong Lee, a Korean Taekwondo.”

Huh. I remember seeing the flag a few times, but had no idea about that. I dig.

    Some suggestions:

    Beach of the War Gods
    The One-Armed Executioner
    Phantom of the Paradise
    Death Race 2000
    Legend of the Stardust Brothers

    • R.J.

I have done Death Race. I love Phantom of Paradise, I have a copy. If I ever see it streaming I shall post it. Your suggestions will be logged on The List.

      • Michael Malaise

Death Race is in my top 20 of all time. It’s bonkers in a good way.

Some other ones off the top of my head (apologies if they’ve been done before)

        Tetsuo: The Iron Man
        Meet the Feebles
        Death to Smoochy
        Delicatessen
        I Hired a Contract Killer
        Leningrad Cowboys Go America

      • Threedoor

        Delicatessen Is awesome.

    • Common Tater

      Phantom of the Paradise
      Death Race 2000

      done already?

      • R.J.

I need to see if I can add the list in a post. Maybe for the upcoming anniversary show.

      • Common Tater

Sure about Phantom of the Paradise? Thought I saw it here?

      • R.J.

Yes. It has not been posted. Definitely it has been discussed. Maybe somebody found a link at some point?
I can also tell you that Death Race 2000 played on 03/21/2024.

      • R.J.

Also by some bizarre circumstances, “Team America: World Police” ended up being the 250th movie posted. Good Lord.

      • rhywun

        Fuck yeah!

      • Common Tater

        WOW!

      • R.J.

That would have been awesome if it was Demonwarp.

      • Common Tater

        666th anniversary?

I’m just malingering, don’t ya know. Though I have ached for months.

    Sorry.

    Stronzo!

    • Toxteth O'Grady

My mom said she would take me to an urgent care tomorrow, but she changes her mind often, so who knows. As much as I hate doctors…

Sorry to dash off so often.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

And thank you all again. Probably from a hospital bed I could get a rest and a phone charge. Hope it doesn’t come to that.

      • R.J.

Recover mentally and physically. I am sorry for what you are going through.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        Thanks.

And is this the future of medicine, a bunch of y/n Qs on an ipad with little or no room for comments? As I observed recently while trying to remember my mother’s health history for her.

I am not allowed to quit. ๐Ÿ™„

        Gotta go.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

“I see right through you.” What!?

I think I will resume voluntarily abusing my organs. ๐Ÿฅ‚

And conveniently hiding in the bushes?

We can’t paint any pictures as the moon had all our brushes.

    • rhywun

I’ve probably said it before but that kind of LEGOยฎ๏ธ does nothing for me.

I only ever liked the generic big bucket of brick I could build houses and shit with.

      • R.J.

I like the motors too. Is is Sean who likes the deluxe sets?

    • Evan from Evansville

I’m w rhy. So, it’s just art? I ‘get’ that. I really do. And no accounting for taste. But… ya play with Lego. Ya build. Ya spend $200+ for a pretty Lego thingy ya put on the table?

I know ya have to build it, so that’s the fun? (AI helps:) “The 1,701 bricks inside the box are organized into numbered bags. You open Bag 1 to complete a specific section (such as the base structure or captain’s chair), then move on to Bag 2, preventing you from sorting through thousands of loose bricks at once.”

Ok. So a complicated Ikea project. For a pretty thing for the coffee table. Um. Ok? You do you. (Checks R.J.’s story:) Okay. Damn. Uh. I ‘get’ that much more. But. Hrm. We are very, very different people. *munches a few Goldfish* Maybe we’re not so different, you and I.

      • rhywun

        1,701 bricks

      • trshmnstr

My girls get some of the more complex sets (theyโ€™re obsessed with Harry Potter and have tons of HP Lego setsโ€ฆ. Most bought second hand from the local bricks and Minifigs store). Itโ€™s not really appealing to me to build a bunch of half-constructed buildings, but they seem to enjoy it.

Iโ€™ll fully admit to missing the point of the really big expensive sets. Lego is ugly, and even the prettier stuff is the sculpture equivalent of crayons and watercolors. With all the different model building technologies out there, Iโ€™d find a prettier one to showcase as art in my house. (My preference has been metal models)

      • Threedoor

The latest Hogwarts sets are pretty cool.

All of the sets connect to form the entire school when before they really donโ€™t.

I have most of the last three generations of them, I didnโ€™t buy any of the last releases.

    • Threedoor

I got the pinball. At and I will build it here soon.
Waiting for the X Files set.
Got the NC1701D and got the gift with purchase.

I like that the one eyed guy uses a coin as an eye patch. I wonder if he is one of us?

    • R.J.

That is cool. I will totally rock that when my left eye finally fails.

TPTB: I tried something on the calendar, and I put my latest on for 7pm next Wed. Well. I couldn’t upload my actual one of the same name, so I just put the placeholder in. I’d def prefer a weekday 7pm so I can be around to interact.

Again, I’ll have to say, it’s a fun, playful account of the fairly gruesome pics. Those are also impressive. I’m not sure how easy it is for Stateside patients to get pictures of their surgery in process. Ya may want a kind of ‘Click to View’ box. Ya probably don’t want coworkers to see ’em. (Unless ya do. If they dig, uh. Game on.)

  9. DEG

That was over the top. And the poor guy had to go back to his wife.

  10. DrOtto

The Apple – you had me at Cannon Group

    • R.J.

Oh it’s a wild pick from TedS.

  11. DEG

I’m out for the night. Thanks RJ!

    • R.J.

You are welcome! See you again soon!

  12. Common Tater

Very silly, but very good creative choreography.

  13. ron73440

R.J. have you ever featured Krull?

I read the book when I was younger.

I knew it was a movie because the book had a central section with pictures from the movie, but I had never seen it.

I watched it on Tubi last weekend, it was not a great movie, but entertaining.

  14. Evan from Evansville

EvilS from this morning: “where the speaker was some smooth-brained candidate” Oooh!! Goes to the gun laws just making people defenseless. And…uh? Just me noticed this? Hrm.

“He came into your apartment, and left the bloodstains on the carpet

If we’re doing martial arts movies, I just checked and both Enter the Ninja and Ninja Terminator are on tubi.

Enter the Ninja has Sho Kosugi, so you know it’s good.

Ninja Terminator is so terrible that it is the only Ninja movie without Sho Kosugi that is worth watching.
