That does raise some interesting questions. Yanking his pension is one of the few things they could possibly do to him, although I don’t know what the laws and precedents are. IIRC, you’re not allowed to profit from your crimes, ie by writing books about them; however, things get murky since the statute of limitations has expired on most of the actual crimes he committed. I wonder if it’s possible to acknowledge he can’t be convicted, but get the courts to stipulate that a crime was committed so as to claw back his royalties.
He was pardoned by Biden for unspecified crimes, so he can’t plead the 5th during this upcoming hearing. Which means if he lies or refuses to answer, he can be held in contempt. Not that he’d actually do time, but a boy can dream.

Since it’s an open post…
Results from my lung biopsy showed cancer, number 5 for me but who’s counting (I am, that’s who.) Had a phone conversation with the doc that pulled tissue from my lung, he said what I had already read in the pathology report, nothing more. Tomorrow I see my oncologist, I’ll tell him that if he writes a paper about me I want a signed copy. Basically it is invasive squamous cell carcinoma, basaloid type. I have no idea what that means besides it’s fairly rare. Don’t know what stage, treatment plan, or expectations are, just going with the flow for now.
I will fight it, modern medicine is a wonder and all the different therapies hold promise. Survival rates for this are not very good, depending on stage anywhere from 30 – 65% for a three year run. I’ll find out more tomorrow but I am hoping the doc has a good plan. I have done chemo previously and it sucks, but I’ll do it again. I’ve had surgery and it sucks, but I’ll do it again. Haven’t had radiation therapy yet, so that’s a possibility. Who knows.
I’ve had a good life, 60 years isn’t very long, but with my family and personal history, it’s about as long as one should expect. My sister is dying of pancreatic cancer, she’s 64, lost my younger brother (biological cousin) to that as well when he was 56. My older brother shook off his mortal coil at 60 due to kidney cancer, I managed to have a previous cancer so was monitored heavily and had my kidney and cancer removed at stage 1. Not sure I will be as lucky this time. Both my parents died in their 60’s.
I don’t fear cancer, or death, just don’t like the idea of it. I’m an atheist and feel I will return to the void from which I came, and I wasn’t worried about it before I was born. I’ve visited it a few times, like when they did the lung biopsy, and it was a comfortable place. Waking up wasn’t as comfortable – I had a nurse in my ear saying, “Necron, take a deep breath.” I refused, breathing would hurt, so she repeated it until either my will to live or my will to ignore her overcame my refusal. It was uncomfortable, yet, I lived. We shall see what the future holds, when I told my sister all this she asked, “will it never end?” I assured her, it will.

I was gonna buy a pack of cigarettes on vacation a couple weeks ago at the shop I used to buy them at my work building but… the shop was gone so I didn’t.
Every time I am away from the wife, I think about buying a pack. I pass on it each time.
Outside of Korea, I pretty much only smoke when driving. Maybe a pack every two weeks. I’ve never felt a “craving,” (skeptical, am I, of their existence,) but I love the *action* of it. The ‘ritual’ is fun and the social ice-breaker is fantastic, given the opportunity.

Adolf Hitler’s birthplace in Austria was officially inaugurated as a police station on Wednesday in an effort to destroy the building’s appeal as a site of pilgrimage for people who glorify the Nazi dictator.

The renovation of the building took several years and cost around 20 million euros ($22.8 million), Austrian news agency APA reported. It was preceded by a yearslong back-and-forth over the ownership of the house.
The ownership question was resolved in 2017 when Austria’s highest court ruled the government was within its rights to expropriate the building after its owner refused to sell. A suggestion it might be demolished was dropped.
The building had been rented by Austria’s Interior Ministry since 1972 to prevent its misuse and was sublet to various charitable organizations. The structure stood empty after a care center for adults with disabilities moved out in 2011.
