Either there’s a wedding, or its getting on towards back to school and OMWC needs to get the van ready. I’ll let you decide. My parents took my older two to San Francisco last week, so I think in lieu of links, I’m just gonna leave this amazing scene here and let y’all enjoy your Sunday, or not.
Phil was a genius.

Next up in the annals of “We’re going to do Good Thing X”, and then Good Thing X never happens.
And quick as a wink, Dems pivot from complaints that the brownshirts are targeting “everybody” to complaints that the brownshirts are targeting “anybody”. Soon to be followed by Donald actually targeting nobody.
Maddening. Here’s a local “immigration” story. Some believe ICE is responsible these people being murdered.

The comments on Derpbook are as you would expect. Beware
Too much derp to choose from in that ridiculous pile of bias but…
Such things never happen in the US. We need to welcome all who “flee poverty and violence”.
At least one of the commenters did the math on the father having knocked her up when she was 13 or 14 and he was 32.
all who “flee poverty and violence”
Wouldn’t that mean people leaving this hell hole of bigotry and hate?
It’s like you’ve never watched or read “Peanuts”.
“Wouldn’t that mean people leaving this hell hole of bigotry and hate?”
I’ve been informed that basic needs of the people are not met in America either, so it really is violent, poor and hateful here. Basically everyone should be able to claim asylum in Canada or Mexico where it is wealthy, happy and safe.
¿Por qué no los dos?
Oh, well if he marries them it’s ok.
School starts in a week. The good – quiet during the day. The bad – my daughter is a night owl.

Aren’t rock stars supposed to say inappropriate things to teens?
“On July 26, O’Connor was accused by a Reddit user, who identified themselves as a 17-year-old fan, of sending them “an erotic image” and commenting on their “bikini pics” through Instagram direct message.”
Lame.
This pernicious sexual abuse won’t be possible after underage children are denied usage of the internet.
Not asked: Why is this underage girl posting bikini pics on Instagram?
Why is 17 considered underage.
I mean if the 13 year old Guatemalan gal in the above link can crank out a kid 17 is an old maid.
Kamala Harris: Democrats Need To Be “Ruthless,” Make This Election “Too Big To Rig”

“too rigged to fail”
Well played, ROAT?
I thought being an election denier was wrongthink?
“Too Big To Rig”
Sounds suspiciously like election denialism. I’m presume all her social media accounts were immediately suspended and some enterprising state AG has filed felony check mis-labeling charges against her?
Progjection 101
Have they tried framing it as the most important elections ever and called the other side Hitler? Maybe that will work, who knows, it’s never been tried.
Hitler is played out, but they aren’t ready to throw Mao under the bus, not just yet.
I miss Pol Pot.

“Big Brother Season 28 housemate Kamu Kirk struck up social media outrage this week after a video resurfaced in which he appeared to make a joke referencing the death of George Floyd.
The 32-year-old reality contestant and MMA fighter (full name: Gabriel Xavier Kamuela Kirk) posted a video to Instagram in December in which he recorded himself mocking a person – whose face was not pictured – as they were being arrested outside his residence.
In response to the video and Kirk’s George Floyd joke, Big Brother fans took to social media to express their outrage and to call for Kirk to be evicted.”

Yes, lame. The OGs make Rodney King jokes.
There’s your problem, right there.

“I’m an associate professor of sociology and criminology, and my scholarship focuses on far-right networks and digital radicalization – the exact ecosystem where these conspiracy theories have taken root and spread. My research on how these movements evolve online and intersect with political activists and extremist networks was directly relevant to tracing how COVID-origin claims moved from fringe communities into mainstream political discourse.”

People with PhDs are often among the dumbest people on the planet. Paste eaters.
You take that back, a customer of mine is a PHD in gender studies, who is 37 and living with his mother and needs his car fixed so he can move to CA for a teaching job. It’s his first job since graduating outside of some other teaching gigs while a student, oh, never mind, I see your point. Also, mom is picking up the tab for the car repair. Normally, I’d be disgusted, but I can understand just wanting that one out of the house.
And the car is….?
My guess is something German and utterly unreliable.
Eh, my father had a PhD, and he was quite smart. Of course, much like OMWC, it was in a STEM field, and he wasn’t a liberal.
It’s actually an old V8 Ford Explorer. It was almost the old Volvo though, I wised him up to which was most likely to make it.
The Volvo needs several thousand $ in front end work, and mom wasn’t going to spring for that.
He’s getting a discount right Doc?

Um… he stated in his “diary” (i.e. notes he made on a government funded computer) that he was lying about the origin of the plague helped usher in.
No “conspiracy theory” required anymore.
These people never learn.
I’ll note that there’s nothing in the quoted word salad that says anything about the veracity of the lab leak ‘conspiracy theory’. The good professor is just using the magic words – far-right, digital radicalization, conspiracy theory, extremist networks, fringe – that don’t require any thought about veracity, just making sure to cast those who questioned the received wisdom in the correct role, regardless of whether they turn out to be right or not. Even if they were right and finally dragged the obvious into “mainstream political discourse”, they were somehow deficient and, by the mere act of disagreeing with and hence threatening the authority – the real sin – of the credentialed class, make them worthy of disdain and dismissal.
People with PhDs are often among the dumbest people on the planet.
I don’t understand the ideological blinders. There’s no reason to deny reality – there’ s no reason the correct conclusion in this case (lab leak) can’t be integrated into your ideological framework. There’s nothing about the origin that impacts your ability to manipulate the pandemic in an election year to further your Year Zero fantasies. The only reason is that the architects of the policies you wanted to facilitate your Year Zero fantasies needed lab leak to not be true to protect their own asses.
Dumb? I don’t draw that conclusion. I know too many very smart people who are, nevertheless, blind. But I guess ideological conviction is far stronger than cognitive ability.
They aren’t dumb, but they are human. And, as such have every bit of normal human frailty: vanity, insecurity, etc. Which is why a core component of (actual) science is to reevaluate your thesis when new information become available, but, see the above sentence.
Such people stew in radical leftist environments for many years in order to get that educated. Dumb to allow that, evil to continue pushing narratives you know are wrong.
continue pushing narratives you know are wrong.
That’s the thing, they don’t they are wrong. They believe that they are right, even in the face of the obvious. And, unfortunately, they believe their intelligence means their belief is right. Even though the ‘reason’ the same way most people do, they are convinced that their intelligence means they don’t and hence their irrational position is factual and rationally based. And I think most of the rationalization is sub-conscious.
EvilSheldon’s Second Rule of Social Dynamics: *Everybody* is dumb about something.
ES, would you accept “Everyone is dumb about most things. A few people are smart about a few things”. As an aside, I am not at all sure that intelligence has much to do with positions in emotionally fraught topics like politics and religion. Belief systems seem almost entirely disconnected from mental capacity. No, we here are not necessarily smarter than others, much as we want to think we arrived at our beliefs by pure logic, and everyone else is just stupid and emotional. Everyone forms beliefs emotionally and then rationalizes them. I think that factually freedom produces wealth, which is good, but my desire for increased liberty is not a logical conclusion. It’s rooted in my deep seated feeling that a more regimented society would be unendurable for me far more than my belief that it would produce famine.
It is the resolute denial of reality that distinguishes the zealot – the anarchist or communist in love with the theory and willfully ignoring the reality of human behavior (that is the product of thousands and thousands of years of evolutionary pressure). Instead they flee to the Rousseauvian fantasy and suck their thumbs, literally or figuratively.
The lab leak is actually better for Year Zero authoritarianism. Call it what it is – a bioweapon – and you can go nuts with “public” “health” “countermeasures”. There are two reasons why they didn’t want to go that route:
(1) It would showcase the absolute blithering idiocy of the US funding Chinese bioweapon development.
(2) It would put them crossways with the PRC, which has infiltrated/influenced academia, the media, and the bureaucracy.
Paywalled WP
I guess that means Israel has a problem and not the U.S., right?
How does the shit even get in the news? If this was World War II, that would be a dead journalist.
Because it makes OMB look bad. Doesn’t matter if it hurts our position.
See also the leak about the lack of Patriot missiles. The best part is I’m sure the leaks are coming direct from the military and/or the dept of state.
Freedom of speech. And I will take assholes saying anything to make OMB look bad over not having it.
The real issue is a general saying things in compromised areas.
Now compare that to the same press covering for Biden’s mental decline.
I would guess missile inventory is classified. Anyone with a security clearance (all generals) would see a career ending abruptly for leaking.
I will take that press covering, for two reasons. One, same as above, in that it’s loss is too great too squander it with petty censorship. Two, it didn’t matter as we all saw Biden’s vegitude anyway, and, due to reason one, we were able to talk about it openly.
A general.
Odds are he’s a lefty. You don’t get past O6 without being politically minded.
Head of European Command – 4 star, so he’s purely political at this point.
Is anybody else wondering why a general is talking about naval capabilities and plans?

America’s Lettuce Crisis Has Shoppers Ditching Supermarkets for Farmers Markets
Sure, if you can still get the Oreos with hydrogenated oils. The new shit smooshes too easily.
I only eat vintage 1990 lard Oreos.
“These are probably safer than if I were to get them at the store.”
Because local farmers wouldn’t practice unsafe food handling, only those nasty corporate ag companies.
Exactly. As compared to the reverse being generally true.
The real joke of it is most farmers market products are the same stuff you get from the store, but at a higher markup.
Drotto gets it. Unless the farmer specifically grows lettuce as one of their main crops, it comes from a co-op that the farmers belong too and they use to bolster their sales.

“In a 2023 interview with Meal Magazine, Wisconsin progressive Democrat Francesca Hong — the current frontrunner in the Democratic primary for governor of the critical battleground state — openly detailed a severe mental health crisis she had in high school. Hong said she suffered a mental breakdown that landed her in a psychiatric hospital for a week. She described intense numbness and emotional pain that led her to self-harm by cutting. Hong further stated she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was prescribed SSRIs, and overdosed on lithium. In typical liberal fashion, Hong tried to paint herself as a victim in the interview, blaming the crisis on feeling like an outsider as the daughter of Korean immigrants.”

She’s the intersection of AOC and Officer Harris. She’s got crazy eyes and nods aggressively while talking gibberish.
I can fix her.
Good luck staying unstabbed.

Those are Nork eyes.
By the way, Korean women make Italian and Latina chicks look rational and thoughtful. Those girls be Kray-Kray!
All of that endears her to her communist base – many of whom are likely to be mentally ill themselves.
“The New South Wales Supreme Court upheld fines of $95,000 Australian – roughly $66,000 U.S. – against women’s sports activist Kirralie Smith and her group Binary Australia, as well as a court-written statement to be posted on their social media accounts for three months, for “transgender vilification” against male soccer players on women’s teams.
That vilification consisted of outing the players as males, whom Football New South Wales allows to compete against women under a 2023 “gender diversity policy,” and posting public materials about them from their teams and league….
The court ordered Smith to pay Blanch and Dennis roughly $38,000 and $28,000 U.S., respectively, and post the judgment against Smith “on all social media pages and websites over which she has control, including Facebook, Instagram and X,” the ruling says.
They must be “featured” and “pinned” posts on social media, and “published prominently” on Smith-controlled websites.”

And this, this right here, was why the colonists rebelled, and created the constitution and amendments. England and its colonies did not have freedom of speech as a recognition of a god given right, and have abused it for centuries.
But, being forced to post the judgement seems a bit of the Streisand effect, no?
And, of course, one of the earliest laws the US passed was the Alien and Sedition Acts. Freedom is never won irrevocably.
The power too great, and needs an equal and opposite power.

Lol – the timeliness of the signs is great. It’s been illegal to market cigs as Light and Ultra Light for decades now. They should make gas stations post signs about the danger of lead in gasoline while they’re at it.
I wonder what happens if she tells the court to go fuck itself?
But my phone said it was ok!

STEVE SMITH AD CAMPAIGN PAYING OFF!!!
Google maps once tried to get me to drive over a foot bridge.
Look how far we advanced from the first days of dedicated GPS units having people drive into water!
Progress!
My mom was driving down golf cart paths and walking trails long before Google maps came along. She would have loved having the excuse.
My wife’s cousin brought a Tesla over to show off. Parked in my driveway, the auto-drive wanted to drive through the back of the garage, across the field and down the neighbor’s driveway.
My Tesla marks my 100ft driveway as 50 mph road.
It does have good acceleration…
Zero to sixty in one garage!
Launch control straight out of the garage.
Also in the article is that hiking/camping sites suggest it is an overnight hike and to plan on such.
18 miles with a 6000′ elevation gain and no reliable water could be done in a day by someone who’s extremely fit and experienced. Myself, I’d make it an overnighter regardless – speed hiking is kinda weird to me. I always like to spend *more* time in the outdoors.
Even relatively easy hiking drops you down to ~ 2 mph (from 3 mph for normal, flat walking). Throw in that elevation gain and you’ll be going slower than that.
My old backpacking partner is now into ultralight, and could easily do 25 miles in a day over paved paths, but no way he would even attempt that.
Half a liter of water.
Where do you even find such a small bottle?
I wouldn’t contemplate 18 miles of flat paved road with only half a litter.
Nalgene used to sell them. Still might. Haven’t checked.
We only have the quart sized Nalgines.
Wish Chevy had man sized cup holders like our F150 did that would fit them.
The map is not the territory.
“What began as a grassroots campaign to raise the colours of the nation has been declared a threat to community safety, with the full force of the courts now deployed against it.
Oxfordshire County Council, run by the Liberal Democrats, won its landmark case after months of legal action against the Raise the Colours campaign….
Justice Dexter Dias granted the order prohibiting unidentified persons from attaching England or Union flags to highway infrastructure or painting flag imagery on roads. Breach carries the risk of imprisonment, unlimited fines, or asset seizure.
Council leader Tim Bearder celebrated the outcome, stating “This is a welcome judgement. We’re very pleased with the result,” adding “This sets a legal precedent and will hopefully deter people in not just Oxfordshire but around the country from partaking in this criminal activity.””
https://www.zerohedge.com/political/uk-high-court-moves-ban-display-english-and-british-flags
Ridiculous.
Painting tranny flag imagery on roads is still celebrated, right?
lol The irony is off the charts.
The UK is just wallowing in suicidalism…
And the Lib-Dems are theoretically a classical liberal party.
I thought the Lib-Dems were destroyed by Labour, and yet, here we are…

Good luck with that.
“The crew, who sat around the wooden table with matching mugs and a plate of cookies, assembled at Carlson’s cabin in Maine for their candlelit meeting.
Vintage shotguns and weapons adorned the walls of the room, with an American flag unfurled in the corner – as the group of seven smiled below an elaborate chandelier made of taxidermy deer antlers.”
Someone should shoot an OnlyFans there.
Carlson is such a bullshit artist. He isn’t starting a party. He isn’t running for office.
Never could have predicted how a market would react like this.
Real estate insiders reveal the real cost of Mamdani’s pied-à-terre tax — and what it’s really doing to NYC
Market shifting to properties that are just under the $5M threshold for the tax…. until they drop the threshold. Which you know they will, that’s how these “soak the rich” things work. Pretty soon, everybody is “the rich.”
That’s going to knock down the value of property in NYC, too. Theoretically, that will reduce the regular property tax collections.
Theoretically.
And how dim do you have to be to believe that the $5mm floor isn’t going to be lowered?
All the way down to $99,999
Did we ever find out what that Toxeth drama was about? I just saw a bunch of vague comments.
I only know what I saw in the comments.
Dunno.
Came across as attention seeking but I choose to stay out of it for lack of information.
“A Michigan hair salon broke state law by telling prospective transgender customers to stay away and visit a dog groomer instead, officials have ruled.
Studio 8 Hair Lab in Traverse City declared that anyone who did not identify as a man or woman was ‘not welcome’ in a Facebook post published in 2023.
‘If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman please seek services at a local pet groomer,’ salon owner Christine Geiger wrote….
In another post, Geiger said lesbian, gay and bisexual customers were welcome at Studio 8 but added that ‘the rest’ of the LGBTQ community was not something she supported….
After a three-year investigation and hearing process, the commission ruled that the Facebook messages broke state law.
Studio 8 was found to have violated Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, which bans businesses serving the public from discriminating against customers…
Geiger has now been ordered to remove the discriminatory messages, stop publishing similar material and serve customers regardless of their gender identity or expression.
She must complete anti-discrimination training within 120 days and display a notice about Michigan’s anti-discrimination laws in a prominent location inside the salon.
Geiger has also been ordered to publish a statement on the salon’s Facebook page acknowledging that Studio 8 must comply with state law.”

Almost like we’re Australia.
Their business their rules.
Public accommodation laws are immoral and unconstitutional.
Going to a hair salon that only serves you because they are forced to by a judge seems like a great way to get the worst haircut ever.
Or lose an ear.
Whoops.

The funny thing is, that’s not even discriminatory against trannies, who do, in fact, identify as a man or a woman.
