When my son got suspended for skipping school I visited with the principal and superintendent.
We discussed rewards and their answer was “We have to do something”
When I was in school there was such a thing as “In-School Suspension” where you had to server your time in some part of the building. I’d wager that’s the proper response for someone caught skipping. “Out of School Suspension” is the one where it didn’t make a lot of sense as a punishment (though I never got suspended, little goody-two-shoes that I was).
I got suspended a couple of times for fighting. “Oh no! A day off!”. Of course there was also after school detention, which I actually did hate and so tried to avoid.
When I got kicked out of school, there would be a chore list for me.
It was usually things that needed doing, but not emergency, like shovel out the old manure from a calf pen or build some fence.
It was hard work, but not much of a deterrent , because it was still better than dealing with my teachers.
ISS sucked. You could sleep, but if you fell out of your chair, you would get an extra day.
I learned to sleep with my elbows on my knees, supporting my head in my hands.
Either that or put my jacket over the back of the chair and button it up. That hurt my neck though.
I had ISS many times, and sometimes went there just to get caught up on work to make sure I would graduate.
Detention was the effective punishment for me. It meant I missed the bus and had to either walk home, which was a bit under 4 miles, or take multiple buses whose schedules lined up poorly.
I skipped the majority of my detention.

When you go to purchase a pistol the FFL will ask for your FID #, and then ask if you have an active pistol permit, which they then look up online. You will get an actual copy of your permit to download only after you complete the purchase and take possession.
Oh, and since you have 2 pistol permits, when you get the first one they will note on the paperwork the date 30 days later when you will be able to purchase the second one.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Monday commended Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin for targeting his “pet peeve” — an auto feature intended to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“You know the on-off, the stop-start button on your car? I hate that thing,” Duffy told the crowd at an event in Detroit. “Thank you, Lee Zeldin. He’s gotten rid of it, and the first cars without the start-stop button are rolling off the line.”
In February, the EPA announced it would axe federal incentives for vehicle manufacturers that include the feature in their models. Former President Obama’s administration introduced “off-cycle” credits for vehicles that used the technology in 2012 as a way to reduce greenhouse gases.
The tech automatically stops an engine when the car is not moving and starts again when the driver presses the pedal. It cut nearly 10 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually as of 2023, according to Battery Council International.

Chief Justice John Roberts broke with his conservative colleagues in a Supreme Court decision Monday that allowed construction on the proposed White House ballroom to continue, saying the ruling upsets the separation of powers.
Roberts, joined by the three liberal justices, contended that the majority’s reasoning likely infringed on Congress’s power of the purse and authority to regulate federal property in the nation’s capital.
“Today’s decision is no victory for the separation of powers,” Roberts wrote in a six-page dissenting opinion.
