I read a theory/apologia as to why Shatner did the dramatic… pauses… for Star Trek. The story was that the scripts were being changed and modified right up until they were filming, so there was no time to memorize lines. Shatner was classically trained and didn’t want to use cue cards. So the pause was him trying to remember the line and the excited tone after was him remembering it.
It’s too good a story for me to want to hunt down things that prove it wrong.

I’m trying to figure out what could have happened to the little pitbull here today. I didn’t notice it at first. Person I live with took the dog out today when I wasn’t home on my request. It was a long day. They told me to check his paw because they saw some blood on the floor earlier and then again now.
I go back in my room and see his front leg with a pretty decent blood stain (did I really miss that on my return?) and a tiny (like .5 cm I’d say) but deep enough cut. He had seemed fine when I took him out, his usual happy self. But then he started acting shaken.
I usually record, but for some reason nothing from today or yesterday was logged at all. No, that wasn’t asshole’s doing.
I don’t know how it could have happened unless it was with asshole earlier. The dog doesn’t leave my bed. It’s on his left leg too as the only thing I could see happening is him hitting the kennel door, but that would be on his right leg if that happened and it’s hard to not notice that. I don’t even know how they’d have done it to him as Butters would have ripped their face off if they tried anything. But it figures when I need the fucking recording it isn’t there. Have to be more careful with that.
Butters did lick himself pretty clean to where you can’t notice already a few minutes after. Which is probably why I didn’t see it when taking him out initially.
But bleeding seems to have stopped at this point as well. Just rather odd if it happened earlier (this would have presumably been around 6+ hours ago in the day that they were with them). There’s no way he was bleeding that entire time and then it just stopped now.
Maybe reopened the clot on the cut?

I’d figure he’d have to have done that. It’s stopped now. I can’t see him bleeding for like 6 hours and there being no sign of it. Wasn’t enough blood coming out this time for that and I didn’t notice anything until after bringing him back in.

My 24 acre piece of real estate has had very little interest shown. I reduced the price 26K and still not any. I really don’t mind, the tax is not too bad.
I’m guessing there is a lot of unknowns with the war, the interest rate, inflation, job loss, etc. Buying an unimproved piece of raw land and jumping through all the hoops to build a living space may not be everyone’s bag. Good deer hunting, I’ve shot a lot of deer off that land but not everyone is a deer hunter. OTOH is can be subdivided into 8 each 3 acre lots.
The main difficulty is that the land is in Minnesota.
That would be less of an impediment in 12 years, but At the moment my overpaid job requires me to reside within the area I’m in now.

People with IQs between 85 and 100 should stop going to school after the 5th grade, and instead play sports, make music, do art, or learn practical skills like cooking. Unfortunately, this rule would disproportionately affect certain demographics, and so is politically impossible.

“SYDNEY (AP) — A study has found 31 rugby league players in Australia have been diagnosed with the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The ABC reported Australian Sports Brain Bank findings that showed players in their 20s, 30s and 40s had the degenerative brain disease, which can only be diagnosed after death. Of the 51 rugby league players’ brains donated, 31 were found to have CTE. The donors had played at various levels of the sport, from amateur to professional.”
Duh? I like saying rugby’s safer cuz no helmets and tackling the hips instead of the head, but, duh? If only diagnosed after death, I’d rather know if they displayed symptoms of ‘not being together’ or something, as opposed to ‘got drunk and ran into a tree.’

The polls I saw have CDU/AfD/Die Linke pretty much tied around 20%, SPD and the Greens maxing out around 15%.

So far so good. Despite some complications thrown my way yesterday, I got all four new hires through their initial payroll setup, I’m more than halfway through reviewing the draft of Friday’s payroll, and I sent out the reminder/Zoom link for next week’s Board meeting. I may survive this week yet.

I have to complete a non-production upgrade before I leave this week, and put in the paperwork for a passel of databases so I can do the Production version of it after I get back. New upper management wants Weekly updates on things that don’t move particularly fast, and I don’t think “no change” really goes over that well.
I have to remember to put a hold on my mail at the post office on Monday. I may by default not have problems with expensive stuff showing up while I’m out because they appear delayed yet again. 🙄

I ordered it the day after my permit was issued. It came to FFL yesterday. I’ll do the 4473 tomorrow. NJ NICS is running 4+ days backlog. Plus they need a week to block the scary “assault magazines”.
Maybe end of next week. The more I read about it the more interested I am in it, however. If it’s not huge and not terribly uncomfortable I may forego a 43X MOS as my intended carry piece. I won’t be carrying most of the time and can probably deal with the the larger size with the upside of better ergonomics and accuracy.

Since we scaled down our cable channel selection to reduce the ever-more-outrageous bill, we no longer get to watch Air Disasters on the Smithsonian Channel. Pilot error and maintenance errors were frequent causes, as I recall. I kinda miss that show, despite it being a real deterrent to air travel.
There are several YouTube channels that analyze plane crashes at a pretty granular level if you find it interesting. As for this particular crash, not hitting the brakes is a big oversight: don’t know how you could forget that one.

I saw some youtube videos both analyzing what happened (definite pilot error) and saying that the carrier has a reputation for hiring cheap, barely competent foreigners who couldn’t get pilot jobs anywhere else.

TOO LOCAL NEWS: Some liberty folks ran for state representative and state senate as Democrats in NH’s primary. The results from the Keene state house races aren’t in yet, but in every other race, the liberty folks got trounced. In a few state house races, the Republican establishment has been fighting back against pro-liberty folks. Results are a still coming in, but they look like the pro-liberty folks won most of those races.
