Psycho Goreman

Psycho Goreman

I am taking a short break from the audience appreciation series to play Psycho Goreman while it is available. I would prefer to have had this be an October movie but I fear some other service will put it behind a paywall come October 1st.

So what is this? A high-level plot description from IMDB helps:

Siblings Mimi and Luke discover a powerful gemstone that grants total control over the imprisoned Archduke of Nightmares. Renamed Psycho Goreman by Mimi, the monster is forced into the rigid, petty hierarchy of the family home.

Anyone who has a little girl understands what would happen next. I really enjoyed Psycho Goreman when it first came out, and I am delighted it is on free streaming. Overall it is very enjoyable, with gore, humor, and bratty kids. Lots of various alien makeup jobs as well, there is a whole menagerie in this film. At the end of the film, you will wonder – who is worse? Psycho Goreman or the manipulative little girl?

My notes on this film: This film has an unusual Villain Protagonist. In fact, you will struggle to find anyone you like in the entire film. That is a hell of a task for a script writer to build out! It does succeed, even though that must have been f\difficult for the lead girl, Nita-Josée Hanna. I would also say this movie is probably 20 minutes too long. But it is entertaining enough to keep you afloat until the end.

Trivia! The man behind this is Steven Kostanski. He was also responsible for Manborg, BioCop, and the remake of DeathStalker. Nice to see he keeps busy.

So watch! Or don’t! Everything is voluntary! We have one more week of pulling from the suggestion box before October gets here! Now, that does not mean that I stop with your suggestions. Many of yours will be built into what will be a long October Halloween celebration for GlibFlicks!

    I think I’ve seen BioCop.

    • Brochettaward

There is no think. There is only First or second.

      • Chafed

Yes, and it looks like Common Tater is First.

      • Brochettaward

I’ve forgotten more about being First than you will ever know about being second or First put together and multiplied by itself and divided by 1. I wrote the book that decided what color the Firster’s Guild Book would be.

Don’t tell me whose First guy.

  2. R.J.

I am hiding. My wife has many new friends over.

      • R.J.

I am hiding in my daughter’s room, we just put Psycho Goreman on. She didn’t see all of it the other night when we previewed it.

      • Common Tater

You can hide booze by putting it in a coffee mug.

      • R.J.

Of all things, I don’t even want to drink. Work is a slog and I wish rest.

      • Evan from Evansville

Are your wife’s friends hot? I’ll assume they are. (Living.) So, about that movie theater idea? Tonight’s a good opportunity. You’ve got your daughter distracted, and I’ll take care of the ladies. I’m one of them, or I am now, but I’m a Bonus Front Hole outtie. It’s cylindrical, powerful.

We can discuss… architecture! And many other things. *calculates my worth/hr*

      • Common Tater

I know what’s that like. Sleep is important.

I’m picturing an alien surrounded by stuffed animals.

      • R.J.

They already know I am green. I almost feel bad for the wife. But absolutely no husbands came, so I fled. I cannot survive that many yentas.

      • R.J.

The stiffed animals have been traded for decorative pillows and actual cats. So I am surrounded by decorative pillows and cats.

      • Common Tater

How many cats? Technically your human wife is married.

      • Common Tater

        “that many yentas”

I’m kind of glad Bari Weiss is a lesbian.

  3. Evan from Evansville

“Psycho Goreman was originally scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest film festival in March 2020, but the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Is there anything it didn’t ruin?

News ya can use: “Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto called the film “The most interesting movie I’ve seen this year!”‘

    • Common Tater

The server is assho. I had to keep changing shit just to get back here.

      • R.J.

I will say today was very challenging. Something started using 300 Mb of memory in Firefox and made the site barely run. I had to clear out everything to get back in the site.

      • Common Tater

I call shenanigans. That shit shouldn’t happen.

        Think it’s AI training?

      • R.J.

I do not know. Bit it was creepy.

    • Evan from Evansville

I was wondering somethin’ similar. Maybe the last week or so, a new error occasionally fires: ~’Trouble Establishing Data Connection.’ Close to that. I can’t conjure it on command.

      • rhywun

I get that or “403” once in a while. No bot-checks lately, at least.

    Gaffer: Keenan Lynch

Very good. Gaffing is very important in monster movies.

    • Evan from Evansville

What a problematic surname. I hope he’s black *searches* YES!

      Canadian. There ya have it.

  6. Common Tater

Turns out “BioCop” was a TY short. It was like a cross between Chopping Mall and a lone cop movie. No gritty like Serpico. This was some cheesy action flick.

    • Common Tater

      No one? Well, fuck it.

  7. Aloysious

    Are there monsters?

Yes, son. We call them politicians.

  8. The Hyperbole

I gave it 30 minutes while I knocked down some Red Beans & Rice , but had to pull the plug, not good,

    • Common Tater

I’m ready to sell this pint sized girlboss to the arabs.

      • R.J.

She definitely had a hard time negotiating all the bratty scenes. It was not the best of acting when she was suddenly too nice to her brother, then flips back to brat. Not sure the producer could have done better with a low budget independent film.

  9. Aloysious

be headings. fountains of blood. good family movie.

  10. UnCivilServant

🤓️ I found where Linux Mint hid the keyboard shortcut for the emoji selector.

    🤖️

    • R.J.

I am not on Linux right now, but where is it?

      • UnCivilServant

        Ctrl-.

Just as windows uses Windows-. , Lint just switched to Ctrl but kept the period as the second key.

      • UnCivilServant

Though it may be firefox on Mint… 🤔️

I didn’t get it to pop up in another program.

      • Gender Traitor

😃️ It works!!! (LibreWolf browser on Linux Mint 22.3/Cinnamon)

Now I don’t have to search through the Character Map any more! Thank you!

🐈‍⬛️ I even got my black cat back!!! 🥰️ (Though sadly, not Ninja Cat. 😞️)

      • R.J.

I’ll play with it tomorrow. I am taking the day off.

      • UnCivilServant

        😿️

I miss the Ninja Cat Emoji

  11. Aloysious

    New goal unlocked.

I want to be the Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches.

    • Chafed

They can open for Cannibal Corpse.

      • Common Tater

I never could get into them.

      • Chafed

        Me neither.

      • Common Tater

This movie sucks. Should I listen to Painkiller or Defenders of the Faith?

      • Chafed

        Defenders of the Faith!

      • rhywun

        Defenders of the Faith

        This is the correct answer.

  15. DrOtto

Sorry, we’re doing Matt Helm – The Wrecking Crew tonight

    • R.J.

No apologies needed. Enjoy your night!

      • Common Tater

There is never a reason to apologize for Matt Helm.

  16. rhywun

Yikes… I was just sitting out on my patio enjoying a leisurely Juul and saw a cat walking downstairs on the fire escape across the courtyard. I hope it belongs to someone.

    • Common Tater

      It’s just a cat?

    • Common Tater

Also , Juul sucks ass and is $$$. Get yourself a mod.

      • rhywun

No idea what a “mod” is but if it means futzing around with shit… no. Is that the rigs I see hipsters blowing gigantic clouds from?

I want simple. It’s about 1/3 the cost of cigarettes and tastes better. I’ll take it for now.

    • Evan from Evansville

“I hope [the stray cat] belongs to someone.”

Huh. I’d be very pleased with an outdoor cat in the city having a loving indoor home, but I’d be pleased if it were a nighttime kitty, alone in the dark, doing sneaky kitty things on its own. Loaner. Renegade. Gettin’ that pussy.

Got extra Mr. Fog Novas (Polar Ice=menthol) cuz discount at the local store today. I’m always pleased w ’em. Haven’t tried Juul. Mine are expensive, $35, but last me a month. Of ‘always with me’ use.

      • rhywun

Outdoor cats without an owner are generally feral and you don’t want anything to do with that.

      • Evan from Evansville

Precisely. I kinda root for ’em. Hard life, living inner-city as a small, non-human mammal, untamed by man.

Pussy fleas from me, anyway, so I’ve no reason to fear.

    • J. Frank Parnell

Stray/outdoor cats in my neighborhood are just coyote food.

    • Chafed

You do know how the Cat Distribution System™️ works, don’t you?

      • rhywun

        I… no?

      • UnCivilServant

Rhy – Wandering Cats will just adopt households.

      • R.J.

Bobby cat did that at my old house. Bobby cat was not allowed in.

      • Chafed

I adopted 3 cats that way.

  17. UnCivilServant

Thunderstorm rolling through. Rain on the window, bright flashes in the clouds. But the soundproofing on the exterior wall is impressive. I haven’t heard any of it.

    • UnCivilServant

Okay now the rain is hitting hard enough that I hear the lightest of pattering.

I want to know who made these windows now. I’m impressed.

      • R.J.

Rain. I remember rain. This has been a particularly dry summer.

    • Evan from Evansville

Good storm. I was walking the dog and despite constant lightning, and not for the first time this year, I didn’t hear any of it. Curious.

The windows are brought to you by Indiana. We don’t just export guns, ya know.

  18. Evan from Evansville

For now or later: How do you select the Featured Image for submissions? I did it once before, but now, perhaps since WP changed, I don’t know where (or how) to set it myself.

    Thankee.

    • UnCivilServant

If you are able to create the article in wordpress, on the right hand side there is a menu full of those setting. It might be hidden. Two spaces to the left of the “Submit for Publication” button will be a “Settings” button which toggles the bar containing the option you want. Set Featured Image is right at the top when that settings menu is open.

    • CPRM

Awe shit, not open Saturday. And I don’t think I’ll get around to it tomorrow 😭

      • UnCivilServant

Ever notice how a much of smaller museums are almost never open?

    • Brochettaward

That is a really poorly written article. Like it was written in the reverse of how it should have been.

Judges who think they can mandate the government spend money it doesn’t have always make me laugh and then cry because of just how stupid everything really is.

      • Ted S.

They can probably force the state to abide by the terms of its contracts, but the article doesn’t state what those terms are.

      • Brochettaward

I don’t get the sense that this has anything to do with enforcing a contract. It seems like procedures were followed but the judge doesn’t like the end result. Which isn’t uncommon as we all know. That’s how I interpret references to “transparency.”

But who really knows because the article is devoid of actual details as to any actual legal reasoning. It’s more focused on the result alone.

    • Ted S.

Not the Amish? Or are the Amish now the (((Amish)))?

      • Brochettaward

I just wanted to highlight again that the attempt to place blame for the measles shit on RFK Jr.’s tenure is ludicrous. It has no real connection to reality, and in fact the only timeline that makes sense is people either not getting their kids vaccinated during Covid because of all the bullshit restrictions or people just losing faith in the institutions and vaccines during Covid because of all the fucking lies from the respectable experts.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

They did burn their credibility during Covid, didn’t they? Seems like everyone would have gotten the gist when racism became the number one public health crisis above even Covid during the height of Covid which, although it wasn’t the Black Death sweeping the land, was killing a fair number of people at the time. It was all about political advantage and I don’t think they’ll ever get their credibility back.

    • UnCivilServant

It technically is Friday. I just hadn’t noticed. Funny thing what you don’t pay as much attention to when work isn’t dominating the schedule.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., Bro, U, and Teh Hype!

      • Gender Traitor

So far so good! I’m just a bit annoyed with myself – I hadn’t had my overnight oats for a couple of days because the milk had expired. (I don’t like to take chances with that sort of thing.) I bought milk at the grocery last night, but then I completely forgot to prep oats for this morning. 🙄️ Oh, well! At least I can find my emojis more easily now! 😁️

        How are you?

      • UnCivilServant

Found out my hotel in Cedar Rapids doesn’t check in until 4pm. That’s absurdly late. It means I have some more lack time in my schedule than expected today before I can get settled in there. (I will, of course ask if there is a room ready whatever time I arrive, just in case)

I didn’t quite finish rearranging the text I was editing last night. But I’m inclined to just get my stuff packed back in the car and get out of Dodge Endianapolis Indianapolis

(I was going to fix the “Endianapolis” error, but figured tech folks might get a chuckle)

      • UnCivilServant

Okay, I’ll explain for the non-tech folks.

Endian-ness is named for the dispute in Gulliver’s travels over which end of an egg you crack. It is a measure of which end of a byte contains the most significant bit, ie whether you read the biggest or littlest value first.

      • Ted S.

        Little Endianapolis or Big Endianapolis?

    • The Hyperbole

Hopefully there’s a Flock camera nearby to help determine whom is at fault.

      • Ted S.

The guy in the center lane, presumably.

But we know who’s at fault of murdering grammar.
