It’s Thursday already? This year has gone by fast.
My life feels like it’s accelerating.
Thats how it works. Our internal clock works on a “percentage of time alive”.
So a week is an eternity in elementary school, but the years fly by as you move into your 60s.
You always go faster at the bottom of the hill.
I remember being a kid and how everything dragged on.
It felt like in my twenties all that had stabilized.
Pushing 50 now and trying to keep up with two little kids while I’m aging and falling apart it’s all just bluring by.
Time goes slowly when you get paid once a month.

Fewer new experiences and more routine = less perceived time. You brain chunks things together.
One way to avoid this sensation is to do new things and go new places as much as possible.’
Or, disrupt routine as much as you can. Take a different way to work several times a month.
“Trump did not address whether US government money would go towards the plan for his club.”
The left will complain even if it doesn’t.
Presidents should be barred from golfing.
It’s a dumb game.
They should be forced to play old School DnD or something fun.
That is gonna be hilarious!
This current generation does nothing with sport.
Well, some of them play pickleball. But mostly they play 1st person shooters.
The first president who gets called out for playing Call of Duty 17 all day is going to be hilarious.
If I were President, and managed to survive impeachment or assassination for a few weeks beyond taking office, I would have the White House bowling alley torn out and replaced with an indoor shooting range. There would also be similar plans for the golf course at Camp David.
The only people I’ve ever seen playing pickleball are the fire department guys, on the clock.
You have to be able bodied to play any of that stuff. I’ve been such a gimp for so long that I came to realize I would have been a pretty good long distance runner about five years after I realized I was too broken to do anything.
ES, I believe there is a pistol range in one of the whitehouse sub basements.

Wait until the first impeachment for teenage teabagging in an online game.
Threedoor – It wouldn’t surprise me if there were something for USSS use. It also wouldn’t surprise me if it had been closed down for lead contamination or something.
Either way, I would have one. And to be on my secret service detail, you’d have to have a higher PCSL classification than me (not hard, at this point, but will hopefully be a bit harder after Nats…)
And be able to piss on a wall.
The DnD thing is already happening.

If you want proper Spanish, shouldn’t you talk to a Spaniard?
It’s like expecting proper German from the Swiss.
I think all the Spaniards now speak arabic.
*ducks*
Is Swiss German mostly accent and pronunciation or is the grammar unique as well?
Hill people tend to preserve older dialects while less isolated lowland people’s dialects change over time.
Some grammar and orthography are unique. Swiss German doesn’t use the ß, while there are at least a few verbs that are totally regular in Switzerland while they have irregularities in Germany and Austria. I don’t know all the differences.
““USAID IG’s investigations are protecting American taxpayers from funding wasteful, corrupt, and in this case, perverted behavior by federal employees entrusted with foreign assistance programming in Africa,” a senior Trump administration official told Just the News.”
No one has names anymore.
“The OIG’s investigation led to the conviction and sentencing of Abiodun Ogunwale, of Virginia and Abimbola Ajayi, of Maryland. They were found to have committed wire and mail fraud as well as conspiracy to commit money laundering. The two worked for Project HOPE, a USAID-funded nonprofit dedicated to global public health. The two were then debarred for three years, according to an agency inspector general investigation summary report released Oct. 1.”
Sounds as though they should be prosecuted.
If that doesn’t send a chill down your spine. What were they doing? Spraying aerosolized ebola from cropdusters?
Ebola isn’t airborne. So doing something evil that doesn’t even work sounds right.

I have a really hard time getting worked up over “USAID worker in Zimbabwe watches porn on his work laptop”.
I mean… ship any one of us off to Zimbabwe for years, what are we gonna do?
I dont think that is really press-conference worthy.
This is the way of the Government watchdog! You have to show that you are doing something, but you don’t want to upset the fraud that supports your wife’s NGO doing the important work of procuring children for politicians. So you find a couple of nobodies watching porn on a government owned laptop.
That sounds very accurate.
How many Presidential retreats do we already have, anyway?
Made me look:
There is one official presidential retreat: Camp David in Maryland, which has served every president since Franklin D. Roosevelt established it in 1942 (renamed by Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953).
Beyond Camp David, presidents have historically used numerous personal or informal retreats for work and leisure, often referred to as the “Summer White House” or “Winter White House.” These include properties like Lyndon B. Johnson’s ranch in Texas, Harry S. Truman’s Little White House in Key West, Florida, and Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. The exact count varies by source, with lists ranging from 9 to 19 notable historic sites, but these are not part of the official federal government infrastructure in the same way Camp David is.
I must have been thinking of all the summer/winter white houses.
I recall W used to go back to his ranch, as did Reagan.
“Seems that all presidents play golf, and I was asked by Secret Service and the military,” Trump — who is himself a huge golf fan — told reporters in the Oval Office.
“It’s only about two minutes away from the airport, so they literally would be at that site, and they could spend a weekend there — like a retreat, like sort of a Camp David retreat.
If I recall, Camp David is tucked away in a Maryland forest somewhere. Quiet and peaceful, the dozens of staffers, Secret Service, and Marine guards notwithstanding.
A house in the middle of West Palm Beach… not so much.
Isn’t Maryland tiny?
How tucked away can you get there?
I guess not staying in your lane is part of the package when you are an evil homunculus.

There are multitudes worse gimmicky terrible ideas in government.
Trump highlighted that approximately 70 million U.S. children have now been enrolled in these tax-advantaged investment accounts.
“If all goes well, which I think it will, they’ll end up being quite rich by the time they’re 18, and then 21, and as time goes by,” Trump told reporters. “This money is your child’s future. And when you were a child in the old days, your child would hit 18 and there’s nothing.”
Just wondering… if everyone is rich, is anyone rich?
Good point, just like raising the minimum wage and thinking prices won’t adjust to the new reality.
Yes, pay no mind to the chart in the middle of the article where inflation increases exceed the increases in wages.
https://www.wsj.com/economy/consumers/inflation-midterm-election-2026-0f809bec?st=9qs1PS&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
It feels like it has been that way for decades.
Nah… inflation was really, really low for decades. Right up until Biden came along.
Really, he didnt do it by himself. The covid mess and the response set it up. But dropping another several trillion on top of what was already committed really did us in.
We did have a breif episode of extreme wage inflation at the low end as people preferred to sit home and collect checks rather than work.
But the standard of living in the US doubled relative to Europe in the 2000’s because our inflation was low and productivity and wages increased dramatically.
It will take a long, long time for wages to catch up with the real Biden era inflation, which was way up in the 20-30 percent range. Way more for some areas.
Like, new cars are up over 20% since 2019. And that is misleading, because the bottom got stripped away. There are no more tiny, cheap cars. So you could have bought a little Yaris or Hyundai Accent for maybe $13k before. Now a cheap car is over $20k.
Something weird shifted in the economy here that happened really quickly and changed things for the lower class… it really worked out well for the Mamdani socialist (communist) types. Odd that these were the same types who wanted and campaigned for those changes (like AOC with her $13 trillion green new deal).
inflation was really, really low for decades
Quantitative Easing is a helluva drug.
I prefer to call it “qualitative easing”.
Obamacare and his stimulus really set it off. Covid spending got us two years in a row of 18%+ real inflation. And most of that spending is permanently baked into the budgets.
At least half the federal budget is total fraud.
The other half is welfare.
Well, this at least is investment returns and not-taxing stuff. I gotta say, the link between asset appreciation and “inflation”/price increases is less than clear.
Monopoly money?
At 18 I was paying 30 cents a gallon for gas, making $1.80 @ hour and not much income tax.
Now I pay $44 for 10 gallons, subsidizing farmers to add 10% ethanol, plus income tax on the $60 I need to buy the gas.
Most 18 year olds aren’t making $30 @ hour
18 year olds don’t have cars anymore.
How far did that gas take you at each time period?
30c in 90% silver.
What is that now about $12?
I probably got about 15 MPG, about the same as now. OTOH I don’t have many places to go now or friends to see.
Another fun fact – the progressive income tax isn’t indexed for inflation.
My 69 Chevy pickup got 16 mpg, with a 250 inline six.
My 71 gmc with the 350 got 11.2
My 69 suburban with the 250 got 14
Milage on older stuff wasent really all they had. The cars just wernt all that comfortable or as powerful as they are today.
My daughter makes $19 an hour at Kroger. She has a car. (We paid for it but she buys her own gas)
@3D- today’s melt value of three 90% silver dimes is $12.81
Most will waste it on a new car and Winston’s mom when they hit 18. Most parents won’t put another dime in the accounts.
See the rez kids when they get their casino payout at 18. The flashy car usually gets wrapped around a telephone pole shortly after purchase.
I see that a lot in my neck of the woods Nick.
Buddy of mine calls the “Rez rigz”. Less than five years old, new wheels, tires with the cord sticking out and beat to shit.

The article about tuition cuts at universities reminds me:
Tuition at Florida public schools is pretty cheap. The flagship school at the university of Florida is abou $6,500 per year.
It is the living expenses on campus that are out of control here (like everywhere).
When I was in school, our dorms were little prison cell sized rooms with 2 steel beds, 2 desks with chairs and 2 dressers. That is all. And that is all that fit.
The entire hall shared a single bathroom with showers on one side, sinks in the middle, and toilets on the other side.
Very … institutional.
Not today. The dorms today are *nice*. Little 2 bedroom apartments with kitchenettes and private baths. And only 2 kids in a 2 bedroom!!
But that costs double what tuition costs. And then the meal plan ain’t cheap…
And parking permits are quite expensive….
Tuition is really quite minor.
My one nephew is at Wake Forest; about $90,000 all in. Each year.
My brother caught a break with his other son at Clemson – a mere $60,000 a year.
Crazy.
Phew…. I dont know how people can afford that.
I was headed to Duke, at $25k per year in 1983, but had to cancel that when my scholarship fell through. UNC was about 10% of that number.
It seems like the 10% number is still close… more like 15-20%, but still. Dang expensive.
They would be better off investing that money and getting a job as a carpenter.
My brother is a sales trader, so he does very well but lives well below his means (as do I – you’d think we’re Scottish – “He’s no’ mean, he’s thrifty!”).
He back-of-the-napkin budgeted a million dollars per child (#3 is a sophomore in high school) until they’re out of the house, which is probably about what he’ll get to.
The crazy thing is that that much doesn’t provide some extravagant lifestyle but more like private high school, college, semester abroad (eldest is in London this semester). All super cool and more than our parents can afford, but it’s not some “My Super Sweet Sixteen” extravagance.
We do the same. We’ve been saving over 60% of our net for a long time now. And looking at investments vs inflation and thinking we’ll never be able to retire if we want to leave any legacy to the kids. Homeschooling and will not encourage the kids to waste their time and money on college like we did.
Your dorms sound like mid-tier Army barracks. That’s what I had at Monterey.
About 2/3 of state schools tuition is subsidized by the local taxpayers.
When I went to college in the 90s the dorms were pretty nice, granted one was a private school, one ASU, two local schools. All the dorms had been built in the 70s or 80s though and were usually a suite of rooms with shared bathrooms.
U of Idaho is closer to your (and my) experience. And the out the door price is a bargain compared to most places. It’s cheaper for my son to attend out of state there than in state.
Yeah UI is about 45 miles north of me. I haven’t looked at tuition costs there recently. I looked up LCSC two weeks ago and it was insane. Credits were $135 plus a ton of fees the last semester I went. It’s almost three times as expensive since 2011 and I garantee it’s half as good.
When I attend U Arizona in the late 70’s tuition for out of state students was such a good deal, we had bunches of Illinois kids in Tucson. It used to piss me off how they would brag they were in AZ because it was cheaper for them to pay out of state here than in state there.
This is about the same at the Cal State Universities. Tuition for my kids was about 6-7K per year. That’s a bargain. Room and board were about double. That’s painful. But it an be done cheaply if the kid lives at home and goes to a nearby college. Even cheaper if they do their first two years at a junior college like our Mexican neighbors did.
A bunch of colleges are requiring freshmen to live on campus. Which is total BS. All to extract housing cash from them.

Sounds like a rebranding of the deployment team or VAR role.
Paying to have them onsite perpetually? Not unusual in the overall corporate scheme.. but kinda unusual for technology.
Years ago I was complaining about how hard it was to get UPS and FedEx to pay attention to my $50k per month account. I learned from an employee at GNB, who made champion batteries, that i was a very small fish.
They had 2 full time UPS employees on their docks with their own on-site offices to manage shipping. Their bill was some $3 million plus per month.
I would expect that similar large B2B relationships have dedicated teams making sure things go smoothly.
These AI contracts are going to replace huge chunks of payroll, so expect them to be expensive and command flawless customer service.
cyto:
Not really. I was an on site consultant in one of my previous roles. Most of the people working on the account were based in one of the client’s offices. I was the only one in the remote office. At least the customer was nice enough to invite me to join them for all office events.
We onsite both management consultants and IT consultants.
I’m trying to figure out the “uniqueness” of AI – aside from it being the trend of the day.
I spent a lot of time building CRM packages and integrating them into accounting subledgers and then building reports and reporting infrastructure off of that.
AI is going to replace most of that. Just like I replaced a slew of staff accountants and senior accountants with computer connections, AI is going to replace a whole bunch of expensive people in that entire food chain.
Im sure there will be spectacular failures.
Executives always want to be in charge of how apps work and pulling their own reports. Well, AI will certainly let them do that.
Im not sure many of them will know enough to know when they have gotten the wrong answer though.
Im not sure many of them will know enough to know when they have gotten the wrong answer though.
I’ve been surprised that most of executives are appropriately skeptical of AI output where there is a “correct” answer. For example how much did we spend in category X this quarter.
OTH, when you have it put together a PPT on on the competitive landscape all bets are off.

“An Iowa city council meeting erupted into an awkward tizzy Tuesday when an attendee took the podium to read a satanic prayer — prompting outrage from a watching pastor who demanded the “curse” placed on his city be lifted immediately.
“Dear dark father” and “Hail Satan” were the words that kicked off the Ottumwa City Council’s first meeting this month after former member Matt Dalbey stepped up to read its regular invocation….
The meeting proceeded, but not before Council Member Cara Galloway raised her concerns about recent legislation that had allowed Dalbey to recite the satanic prayer.
She was referring to a January-approved invocation policy which stated prayers or statements from any faith or philosophy would be allowed to open Ottumwa’s city council meetings — which Galloway argued would be a “slippery slope” towards controversy.”

At least it wasn’t a land acknowledgement.
Someone should start a “rape acknowledgement” fad, acknowledging that we all carry the genes of rape victims from past wars and rape culture.
We should start a cake acknowledgement fad, the evidence available clearly demonstrates that we all want cake.

bullet ejected hits rock and fires. does that happen often?
Never seen it happen.
I don’t think it’s terribly dangerous if it happens, the bullet might bruise you.
Worse part would be the shrapnel from the casing.
I think the casing would remain intact, and without a barrel, the bullet wouldn’t have much velocity.
Vanishingly rare.
If a brass cartridge is touched off outside the gun’s firing chamber, the bullet won’t even make it out of the case. The pressure from the burning powder will rupture the brass case first. The only real danger (and it’s a small one) is the primer getting shot backwards out of the primer pocket – that little fucker might break the skin…
I’ve seen a bolt of 50 cal after it burned off in an open can.
About half of the bullets penetrated through the can. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in front of them.
They had to have gained some more pressure in the cartridge from being in links and stacked next to eachother.
What sort of cheap ammo are you using Sheldon? The brass goes flying most of the time, while the bullet moves less fast. If your brass is failing before the friction fit of the bullet in the case, you shouldn’t be using that brass.
Linked .50BMG? Yeah, that would be an exception. US M9 links are basically hardened steel wrapped around the case. Plenty enough reinforcement to build up some real pressure.
UnCiv – I usually use the type of cheap ammo where the bullet is crimped into the case. I’ve never seen a bullet escape the cartridge before the case breached.
Although…my testing method has usually involved tossing cartridges into a campfire (while drunk), so that may have affected the results of the experiment…
Of the rounds I’ve gotten my hands on in my house, none of them go so far as to crimp the bullet in. What brand are yours – so I can avoid it.
Yeah. BMG.
I assumed at the time that the links and being stacked together let the cartridge build enough pressure without simply splitting.
I didn’t see the fire just the aftermath. And I stole the BII from the Abrams.
UnCiv – almost all commercially manufactured centerfire ammo is crimped.
Mythbusters did this.
And the answer is obvious if you think about it.
High mass bullet
Low mass cartridge.
The cartridge flies backwards at significant velocity while the bullet doesnt go very fast.
The cartridge went fast enough to dent the metal inside the oven they were using. So fast enough to hurt.
Maybe even bruise and possibly break the skin a little.
But kill?
Nah.

Some neighbors around here have Annie signs in every other yard. I have yet to see a Graham sign on anyone’s yard. (There are a few in weird places like highway medians)

Even if one of the council members ends up with some actual Native DNA, I would bet that they grew up in a fancy neighborhood. Not one of them is from a rez.
The Rezervation system needs to be abolished, along with the tribal governments and the BIA.
Did you know there are 575 recognized Indian tribes in U.S.? Every darn band of 50 must have been its own tribe! All us Glibs are genetically related (through Charlemagne) so how do we apply for tribal status?
Should have happened in 1925 UCS.
I was amused to see how many lily white Minnesodans tried to join the Mdewakanton Sioux tribe when they got their casino built. Everyone wanted some of that monthly payout. Better was seeing the tribe reject even other Sioux bands. No sharing of the money with them!

That being said the article in question: I Lived It: Before We Had Sex, My Boyfriend Said a Land Acknowledgement sounds hilarious.

Unfortunately, it got pulled.

“Before I enter you, I need to acknowledge all of the other dicks that have been here before.”

Jimbo, did you see my wife’s reaction to you saying the worst that could happen to an innocent Okinawan lady is to end up marrying me?
No I missed it. Did she agree?
Found it.
Honestly, I doubted her innocence when she so easily made friends with Mrs. Holiness. A definite strike against her. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I’m Minnesoda Nice.
She appreciated the fact you said she was innocent and laughed her ass off at the comment.
Remember though, she was 21 and I was only 19 when I met her.
She took advantage of me, doesn’t seem so “innocent” does she?
Mrs. Holiness is 3 years my senior.
I too am a cradle robbing survivor.

No word on how long it took for the school administrators to figure out that she wasn’t really a teacher.
She sounds eminently qualified to me.
Sounds like the curriculum was on point as well.
goddamnit i was just abut to link that
“She allegedly called one student ‘fatty’ before allegedly asking students for marijuana and vapes.
The students claimed she called them ‘lame’ and ‘annoying’ for not having the drugs.”
LOL
She’s not wrong.
It was probably when they got through 3 days without a student getting molested.

Last night my wife said that we should import beavers to south east Asia just to screw with them.
I have no idea if there are beavers there but I bet they would love it.
To screw with the beavers or the Asians?
Embrace the power of “and”.

My nice niece Denise from Nice has nice knees.
It used to be.
The first time I went to Nice in the 90s a couple North African guys kept circling the block checking us out while we were unloading our car at the hotel. Most of it is fine, but there is a definite criminal element.
My son thought Barcelona was disgusting and dangerous, so I’m surprised it didn’t make the list.
Neither disgusting nor dangerous
Barcelona is overrated. Disgusting in the sense that it’s too damn crowded with other tourists.

“Sydney Sweeney has long been likened to a modern day Marilyn Monroe, and it turns out that those comparisons are more accurate than many first thought.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Euphoria star, 29, is actually related to the late Hollywood legend.
A new study done by MyHeritage has connected Sweeney’s father, Steven Sweeney, to Monroe’s biological dad Charles Stanley Gifford.
The two men are linked by shared ancestor Ezra Perry, who lived in Massachusetts back in the 1600s.”

That would have been weird, because one of OBL’s primary stated goals was overthrowing the House of Saud.

They make multiple times what they would at home.
Or at least that’s what they are promised. What one heard is that they get there and the contract now says they owe for travel and lodging and end up working for the company store.
Sure Saudis Arabia banned slavery in 1969 but in reality they still practice it. Dhimitude is a thing.
it is generally an issue with poor migrants which are brought by predatory companies from their country which promise them completely different things than what they get. this is partially what causes problems in Europe, people feel they have been cheated from what they were promised.
Poor not that intelligent or educated people do not really do research and believe what they are told back in their countries.

I have also had to take friends to the ER when they drank themselves nearly to death.
(I’ve also once had to take care of a friend who’s drink had, legitimately, been spiked – didn’t have to take him to the ER though. The former is way, way, way more common.)
In fact KENNEDY, it was her being slut shamed that drove her to accuse them of “rape”.
Okay, I’m confused about why something’s happening and how to clear it.
I have DHCP set up to lease out ips from .101-.254
I have a RaspberryPi set up with a static IP at .10
Somehow the DHCP server shows it having a lease on .102
The Pi shows itself only having .10
Connecting to .102 gets me the Pi. WHY? The machine doesn’t think it has .102, it thinks it has .10 . Why would it answer communications on .102?
Oh, it also answers .10 But I understand it answering the IP it actually has.
One wireless adapter, one wired?
The wired adapter has a 196.168.1.1 address and is plugged into a network controlled PDU to keep it off the main network. It is physically incapable of answering traffic from my desktop.
Is there a reservation configured on the DHCP server for the MAC address?
I would hope so. I would hope that a talented IT professional with root on the DHCP server wouldn’t be configuring static IPs on the endpoints themselves.
*guilty look*
No. I don’t reserve IPs on the DHCP server, and the DHCP server doesn’t care about .1-.100 .
I took the lazy route where I didn’t have to look up the MAC.
@Sheldon – I’m not going to claim to be thinking of the most optimal way to handle everything. I was working on setting up a remote control for several things in the 3D Printer room, and telling the Pi you are .10 was the fastest answer to let me move on to the problem I wanted to actually work on. I even skipped looking up which static addresses I’d already handed out. It should have gotten .3
Do both IPs use the same MAC?
I have a server with fixed address. It also tries to connect a BIOS level interface on the same port for a control plane. I have that MAC blocked in DHCP since I am not using the control plane.
They have to – The Pi only has the one Wireless interface which is the only one that can be answering these communications. (As mentioned above, the wire is not plugged in to the main network and goes direct to an appliance)
I wonder if you have a virtual ethernet pair configured on the wireless interface?
It should be obvious here that I’m not a Linux or RPi expert…
There is no reference to .102 in the Pi configuration I can find.
technically the services answering are listening on 0.0.0.0:[port], so, as long as they reach the box, the service doesn’t care that the IP doesn’t match the interface. So as far as I can guess, a DHCP lease got created with the MAC of the Pi, but the Pi started going “I am on .10”. At some point .102 will stop getting sent there, as the lease will expire and not be renewed. It’s got to be an oddity in the boot sequence.
I’m trying to think how many decades it has been since I’ve had one of these.

Love the assholes who think the threshold for yelling is low enough that an error qualifies.
These people should be forced to work callcenters and given electric shocks any time they lose their customer service tone with the callers.
I worked in a grocery store through college. It gave me a ton of respect for people that work frontline in retail.
As I tell people, don’t yell at the cashier when you aren’t happy with the produce. Either find the store manager or the produce manager. Do you think the person at that register has any control over the produce department?
I didn’t work retail, but I did work a helpdesk. Not the same, since I had a mute button, but enough that I was able to extrapolate.
Same.
That kind of work is beneath the dignity of a lot of kids today.

Cornell defendant is fighting AG Letitia James’ appointment as special prosecutor

Speaking of bias and presumption of guilt; it’s not possible to hate the media enough.
James has unequivocally demonstrated a bias and presumption of guilt
That’s what she was elected for.
Technically he is a defendant in a civil suit, but that is misleading as there hasn’t been a grand jury.

María del Carmen Abascal had spent most of her life living quietly in the apartment her family began renting decades ago in downtown Madrid. That was until her fight to avoid eviction transformed the 87-year-old into a symbol for millions of Spaniards who struggle to afford housing.
Abascal, known widely as Maricarmen, died suddenly on Wednesday, two weeks after she was evicted. Her death is reinvigorating housing protests and threatens to further polarize Spain ahead of a national election next month when the housing issue will be central.
Burn it all down. Hang the landlords.
Why was she evicted?
The article seemed to be actively avoiding that, unless I missed it.
But I thought that the Boomers were evil and greedy? Shouldn’t we be celebrating the eviction of one of those Winners of Life’s Lottery who Played on Easy Mode? Isn’t it a good thing that the apartment that Maria was Selfishly Hoarding can now be given to some vibrant immigrant or twenty-year-old septum ring?
I can’t really get my head around how the Left keeps changing the cast of characters to suit their various whims. But I do get that to the Left, you have value only as a symbol. Would that more people could recognize this…
Where “reinvigorating housing protests” means fueling more commie ratfucker rioting. France can’t have all the fun.
In Barcelona, a popular graffiti artist painted Maricarmen in angelic form, complete with halo, wings and a white toga. She is holding a key, apparently the key to the home she didn’t return to, though it recalled traditional images of St. Peter holding the keys to paradise.
Fast track her beatification. Get the Pope on it immediamente.
Prudential Japan has been accused of all kinds of sales practice wrongdoing. I think it’s been going for at least 24 months from memory. You don’t get much more Japanese of a response to the crisis.
President Hiromitsu Tokumaru and two others will take a 30% reduction in compensation for three months to take responsibility for the matter, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Mind you – this and the public shaming actually carry weight in Japan, but it’s still ridiculous.

“In political terms, this will be remembered as a milestone,” Quiroga told The Associated Press. “Her death completes the narrative that evictions and real estate speculation literally kill.”
Prepare the guillotine.
“Here is a timeline according to Grok:
Around 2 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026: Greene-Placentia says she stopped her silver Jeep Grand Cherokee (engine running, hatch open) in a parking lot near 99th Avenue and Bell Road in Sun City to repair a damaged campaign sign, a late-night routine she had followed that summer. She says she walked only a few yards before being struck on the head and losing consciousness.
She says she woke face-down with one leg out of her jean capris, a man on top of her pulling his penis out of her, and heard something she later filled in as roughly “Democratic bitch, not a very good fuck,” though she said she was not sure of the exact words.
A second man (described as wearing black boots) approached and nudged her leg; she says she kicked at him and heard “Not even worth it” before both left. She does not clearly remember dressing, closing the Jeep, driving home, or getting into bed. She reported vaginal bleeding for three days afterward, bruises (including finger-sized marks), and possible concussion symptoms; she did not seek immediate medical care.”

Republicans may win on election night but will lose in the days that follow.
Remember when the democrat consultant warned us all that Trump would appear to win the 2020 election in a landslide on election night…. but that it would change over the next week until Biden won in a landslide?
When he wrote this, Trump was down between 13 and 16 points, months before the election.
People not noticing things like this worries me.

Nothing about how they restrict you if you are winning.
That is the silliest argument ever.
Do we need restaurants and grocery stores to restrict fat people?
Gambling is stupid and financially dangerous. Duh.
The real problem I have is that now that it is ubiquitous and prop bets are everywhere, sport is about to die. There is no way to keep gambling out of sports when this much money is involved.
The temptation of making tens of thousands was too much for NBA players making 7 figures. There is no way that college players who are making hundreds of thousands are uniformly going to pass up on a chance to make tens of thousands.
Particularly not when fixing the bet is so easy for some of these prop bets. “Joe Quarterback will throw 2 touchdowns or less in the first quarter”. Fine. Just delay getting up to the line a few times and draw that 3rd drive into the second quarter.
Many are really easy like that.
Well…
On the Mamdani topic:
My point of reference for NYC voters was that they were about a third of the city and over half of the democrats. (70s and 80s)
They now compose 10-15% of the electorate.
So their power is waning.
And they voted 2:1 for Cuomo over Mamdani.
So their political power is vastly diminished in NYC.
