One of the hazards of working with my kids is that they are always plotting ways to get hold of my fortune. I’m a thousandaire! I was coming up the steps from our cellar to the cafe kitchen, carrying a large box of fenugreek leaves, and just then the door swung open. It was 10b0t carrying a 5 gallon jug of hot oil, drained from our fryer. I could just about hear the wheels turning in his head with this wonderful opportunity in front of him. “Do I douse the old man or just push him backwards down the stairs?” He chose the latter, looks more like an accident and likely quicker. Fooled him, though, I lived through it although not without an impressive set of bumps and bruises.
Despite his failed attempt to off me, we still celebrate birthdays, including a guy willing to die for the Republicans; RAHeinlein’s spirit animal; a one-hit wonder; someone who could get away with having three tits on a woman; the one and true Mr. Waverly; the pride of the Catholic church; an eternal symbol of the Deep State’s corruption and amorality; Spudalicious’s doppelganger; and a guy whose face is on every iodine bottle.
My face is on every weekend edition of Links.
We’re still doing “mostly peaceful.”
“I’m from Pittsburgh, I’ve seen worse.”
Grandfatherly advice to the young: don’t make videos.
This would be much more entertaining if we gave them maces, broadswords, and flimsy shields.
What, the ACLU political, leftist, and antisemitic? Where’s my fainting couch?
“Common sense capitalist.” Riiiiight. Not that his opponent is any better.
Better idea: just smack them. Hard.
The title don’t lie. This is nuts.

One-hit wonder
the one and true Mr. Waverly
Happy birthday Douglas Walton! (with Southern Tier content for OMWC)
Scary Lucy ftw.
I’ve heard that Scary Lucy has been replaced.
Oh, that Scary Lucy. Ha I forgot about that.
Is that a threat?
Dammit Rhy. That was my reaction.
And mine, evidenced by my tag.
No Muslim should be allowed residency in the US. Much less be allowed to run for as much as dog catcher.
Dog catcher is not a job a Muslim would do.
Or not a job you would want him to do.
“They keep us quiet. They take our money, they tax us a lot and we can’t say anything. Today we are in the streets because it’s been too long, it’s been too much,” the 26-year-old said.”
A bet most of you assholes voted for that.
“Two masked teenage protesters, who did not want to give their names, also said their generation was in despair and felt abandoned by the government.”
Nanny Harder!
“I think looting is really not good,” one of the demonstrators said of last Saturday’s disorder. “But it’s because of poverty and the violence of the police.”
‘Stupid bitch! Why do you make me keep hitting you?!’
So you want a smaller government?
So you want a bigger government?
Sounds like the French schools are every bit as bad as ours.
“I need to feed this flat-screen television and this iPhone to my starving children.”
They’re nutritious and delicious.
Stunning and brave.
Is anyone at The Statehouse File a member of the ACLU? Possibly Olivia O’Neal?
I love that the ACLU is now grubbing for 19 dollars a month like all the charity commercials I see – Shriners, St. Jude’s, Tunnel to Towers, and on and on.
Earnest, sad faces fighting for truth and justice in today’s nightmare America. 🙄
I find it kinda pathetic that Eric McCormack is now shilling for the ASPCA, an outfit I trust much less than my local Humane Society (whence came Ninja Cat,) but at least they’ve ditched the Sarah McLachlan soundtrack.
Today in “we have to make this a thing” media.
A “viral phenomenon” I have never heard of and wish I didn’t.
Same as the ‘third-world stare’ – whatever they think they’re communicating, they’re really communicating that there’s nothing going on behind those eyes. It’s like watching a terminal screen while a script errors out.
while a script errors out
A couple pages of stack dump does not constitute exception handling.
::grumbles, waves cane::
It’s because they are dopomine saturated and too stupid to do simple things like take my order at Starbucks and make change.
SLD – drug laws are gay, especially calling it ‘trafficking’ for less than a pound of product.
That said, this dude is a surgeon? What fucking kind?
I admit, I clicked through to see if he was from my old hospital and maybe I knew him.
Sadly, no.
What a moron.
“Field-testing conducted by Customs and Border Protection officers revealed nearly 12 grams of MDMA consisting of capsules, gummies and pills stamped with the Tesla logo. Officers also seized roughly 160 grams of mushroom edibles testing positive for LSD properties, along with more than 300 grams of THC gummies, mints and vape oil.”
mushroom edibles testing positive for LSD properties?
Anyway, over a hundred hits of mdma sounds at least intent to sell.
Field test. They group stuff by category (and aren’t really that accurate in the first place.)
“Enough drugs to kill everyone on the ship!”. (breathless DEA agent.)
Your cargo should be more than the crew’s personal use stash. Otherwise you won’t make any money off the shipment.
Maybe he was following his teachers rule of bringing enough for everyone.
“Investigators said Henrichsen completed a customs declaration confirming all the items inside belonged to him. When officers searched the container, they found an assortment of contraband disguised as ordinary confectionery and vape gear, including lollipops, mints, gummies, capsules and two chocolate bars branded with mushrooms.

Okay, now I just want to party with this guy.
I had to tap out of that insanely biased pile of trash.
They should eliminate all mention of race.

“A depraved NYPD commander turned his precinct into a perverted frat house, pitting a jealous cabal of cops against a female officer who rejected his relentless raunchy advances, according to an explosive lawsuit filed this week.
Maria Delacruz, 33, alleges Capt. Amanjeet Sandhu, her precinct commander in Transit District 1 on the Upper West Side in 2023, “declared his love” for her and “expressed his desire to become her lover rather than remain her supervisor,” according to the suit filed Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court….
He commented on her “breasts, buttocks, face, eyes and body, including referring to her as a Latina with large buttocks and making remarks about her ‘booty,’” according to the lawsuit.”

In other news, did you know that the phrase, “Well, well, well…” is a racist dogwhistle?
Yes. I, too, see the problem here.
Would.
I’d reject that perv too. Yuck.
At least be “good looking” or something.
“Sandhu, who made $222,138 in 2025, didn’t return The Post’s call seeking comment.”
I guess that’s good to know but Im not sure why it’s relevant.

“The parts I can get into are where Nikkita very explicitly [said] we will absolutely stop taking cases specifically around organizations or people whose speech we—by ‘we’ [I] mean ‘I,’ Nikkita—disagreed with, right? And we were going to start taking cases based purely around a harm reduction lens.”
Remember kids, not all civil liberties are created equal.
National ACLU made that clear years ago. Thank goodness for the NCLA.
Morning, Glibs.
Weekend work started. Unfortunately this step is someone else’s work, so it’s no more interactive than waiting for a progress meter.
😑
It’s worse than watching a progress meter. At least a progress meter is something you can watch.
“A Missouri neurosurgeon and former Washington University professor has been convicted of sexually assaulting a young woman inside a Scottish nightclub, police said.
Camilo Molina, 40, will spend two years in prison in Scotland for his appalling actions at a club in Royal Exchange Square – located in the heart of Glasgow – called Kong on April 5, 2025.
The married sex predator approached the victim, 20, from behind, put his hand under her denim skirt and touched her inappropriately, police said, according to The Herald.”

LOL
I had 2 young women (separate incidents) assault me in a similar fashion on dance floors back in the day. It’s why I don’t dance anymore.
I don’t dance any less.
someone who could get away with having three tits on a woman;

Unsweetened ice tea for now, beer in ~150 minutes. Hopefully Head Hunter and Christmas Ale assuming the local got their front bar taps fixed (they were broken two weeks ago).
Edited to add, beer list.
Chai latte, made with milk one day past its “best by” date, because I like to live dangerously.
Stunning and brave!
🙀
Diet Dew. I’m at work.
“AT work” at work? Or at work remotely?
At work remotely.
I’m not sure the garage gate is even open on weekends.
Spud and I have a story about that wine (1991 vintage).
Prime and I are going to a wine bar tonight, no idea what they have. For our weekly binge of The Bear afterwards, a 2008 Olga Raffault Chinon “Les Picasses.”
I am still waiting for some tasting notes on *any* of the wines I brought. Again honest does not bother me.
I’m trying to get a group together to do a comprehensive tasting (which I’ll turn into an article). Everyone has been distracted by harvest, but we’ll do it when things settle down a bit.
Okay just making sure you din not forget 😀
Iced Americano, as ever
You keep asking us in the morning. It was coffee this time yesterday, it was coffee this time today, and the forecast says…it’ll be coffee this time tomorrow.
(I did polish off a bottle of Potter’s Farmhouse Dry cider with breakfast yesterday, but after that…coffee.)
You keep asking us in the morning – I certainly do not. The links drop in the afternoon.
you can always say what you were drinking yesterday
Although To Be Fair today’s link were at the wrong time. You people cant even keep time good.
Time zones are a communist plot.
It’ll be back to normal next Sunday morning, Pie.
“you can always say what you were drinking yesterday”
Oh, in that case…
In solidarity with Tres, tall cans!
Black tea iced.
Komodo dragon Starbucks roast. Black.
Shouldn’t the Eagles have been invited to play in Paris instead of the Steelers? They’re more used to playing while surrounded by angry mobs. (The Terrible Towel Wavers only came in fourth.)
The Yinzers are already bringing their own towels so they can cover their heads and blend in. The Cajuns will glass them all after a couple (buckets) of drinks while shit talking the French food.
“Bob Irsay and his Mayflower trucks are still reviled like nothing else in the city’s history. Baltimore fans still hold a grudge against the current iteration of the Colts, although 1984 was almost 30 years ago and Bob Irsay is long gone.”

Oh, article is from 2018…
Still, almost 30 years?
Well…34 is “almost 30” if you’re rounding to the nearest ten? 🙄️

“The $3 million dollar Protecting Against Microplastics Act was introduced in September by Democratic state Assemblywomen Shama Haider and Margi Donlon — with the goal of banning products that contain intentionally added microplastics, including some chewing gum, tea bags, plastic cutlery and containers, cleaning products and cosmetics….
Many were appalled by the proposal in their state, which just enacted the “Skip the Stuff” law in August, banning restaurants from automatically supplying plastic utensils and condiment packets.”

California schools are
Majority the kids of illegal aliens. I’d say the parents didn’t get what they voted for because they can’t vote but we all know they do so Chafed is right.

They didn’t throw it in Mount Etna?
They traveled to Ireland so, no. They best they could do would be Mount Slemish or something.
Wow!
Ahh, I saw that one as well! Absolutely delightful.
I wonder if they built a 12-foot wall around the Stade de France to keep the mostly-peaceful students away.
Walls don’t work I’ve been assured.
Barack Obama told a Detroit crowd on Saturday that Abdul El-Sayed was “fighting for change, real change, that will get money out of politics and put money in your pocket”, as he threw his weight behind the Democratic Senate candidate and the rest of the ticket on the first day of early voting in Michigan.
Obama said in front of thousands of onlookers at Cass technical high school in Detroit that El-Sayed would “finish the job we started with the Affordable Care Act and guarantee quality, affordable healthcare to every single American”.
Satan wept.
That should have turned that political rally into a smoldering crater big enough to hold an NFL stadium or two.

I did and do. If you want some nostalgia, check out the Freespace open source project, and the Ur-Quan Masters (free version of Star Control 2).
“Reporter Brandi Kruse and other women standing up for women’s rights in athletics and wearing XX-XY t-shirts were forcibly escorted out of a Portland Thorns FC game after refusing to leave when security confronted them. Kruse as well as others posted a series of videos of the event to social media on Friday night in which she, along with other women, were heckled by pro-transgender fans…..
The shirt was from XX-XY Athletics, a brand founded by former Levi’s executive Jennifer Sey that advocates for keeping women’s sports categories separate based on biological sex. Kruse highlighted the presence of other political messaging at the game, including transgender flags and a shirt worn by one woman that read “Protect trans kids” and featured a knife. She identified the woman wearing the shirt as the “leader” of the fan section.”

OFFS!
Keep subsidizing the league NBA. I’m sure it will pay off before the sun burns out.
Profit isn’t the point. Subsided propaganda wing of the NBA. Nothing more, nothing less.
Props to Jennifer Sey on this initiative – XX-XY has been very successful pushing the narrative so far that a simple t-shirt results in expulsion from games. ACLU should be proud for their support…
So like a soccer “supporters group”, which across the West tend to be stocked with Antifa radicals.

“These prosecutions are morally nonsensical. They treat people who voluntarily consume drugs as helpless victims of supposed predators who gave them the drugs they wanted. By similar logic, bartenders and liquor store owners should be held criminally liable whenever a customer succumbs to alcohol poisoning or the long-term effects of heavy drinking. The main difference is the legal status of the drug, which is arbitrary, politically determined, and historically contingent. And while illegal drugs pose special hazards, that is a result of prohibition, which creates a black market where product composition is highly variable and unpredictable.”

Logic has nothing to with it.
Isn’t this already a thing?
Bars can be sued for over serving.
Only for drunk driving (as far as I know) and ‘overserving’.
And Off Sale should be limited/rationed to 2 of the tiny bottles per day, with a card.
Sales of bulk, such as pints/quarts/handles only encourage problem drinking. It could lead to people over-serving themselves at home.
/Sarc, in case you were wondering
See dram shop laws…
Saint Lula
By then, Lula was an icon as much as he was a retired head of state, the brain behind far-reaching social programs that had lifted swathes of the population out of poverty and facilitated access to education. During Lula’s second term, in 2009, then-President Barack Obama called him “the most popular politician on Earth.”
Even while in prison on charges he contested, Lula began plotting a return to office. Nineteen months later, the charges were overturned and Lula was released, ready to go after his new foil: far-right firebrand Jair Bolsonaro, whose uncouth populism and handling of the Covid-19 pandemic had shocked Brazil’s political and business establishment.
To win, Lula had to look beyond the traditional base of the Workers’ Party (known by its Brazilian initials as the PT) he had helped to establish in 1980, the dying days of Brazil’s military dictatorship. In a deft political maneuver, he picked a former rival from the center-right as his running mate, reassuring corporate leaders and capturing a powerful block of centrist parties in Congress.
Today, the world’s most successful left-of-center politician of the 21st century will appear on a presidential ballot again, for one last time. Lula now faces Flávio Bolsonaro, Jair’s son, in the second round of what is turning out to be the tightest presidential election in Brazil’s modern history, as he has struggled to update his old story to new times.
How can his flock forsake him in this time of great need? The Devil is once more at the gates of Heaven.
Uncouth!
lol What a florid pile of derp.
“Depending on where a light source is positioned, the Lycurgus Cup changes colour, from jade green under normal lighting to ruby red when lit from behind – an astonishing feat of optical engineering that has confounded historians and glass-makers for centuries….

Okay, that’s pretty damn cool.
A different breed of Democrat
For Senate candidate Hallie Shoffner, the most important political label she wears isn’t that she’s a Democrat. Or that she’s not a Republican. Instead, it’s that she is an Arkansan.
As a lunchtime crowd ate at Tailgater’s Burger Company Friday, Shoffner decried what she called a historically unproductive Congress driven by extreme voices in each party and pitched herself to receptive — if skeptical — voters as a candidate who would better serve their needs.
Arkansas is one of the most conservative states in the country, with nearly two out of three voters supporting President Trump in 2024 and Republican Sen. Tom Cotton in 2020.
Yes, NPR, “Trump voter” is a perfect proxy for “conservative”. They are completely indistinguishable.
Thank goodness NPR survived the Great Purge. Where would the nation be without them and their frantic cheerleading for Democrat-ocracy?
Shoffner is a multigenerational farmer who decided to shut down her family’s operation in 2025, citing financial headwinds from rising input costs and Trump administration tariff and trade policies. That in turn inspired her Senate run and influenced much of her campaign’s focus.
Sliding behind the wheel of a side-by-side utility vehicle, Shoffner takes off across the property and recounts her life story that led her away from the farm, into nonprofit work and back home when her dad got sick.
Just what the country needs. Another AWFL world-saver, come to rescue us from the dread disease of neoliberalism.
Farmers.
You don’t hate them enough.
“I come from a place, a community, that died in my lifetime,” she said. “I was the last one left and I felt left behind. I felt like no one was really talking to me or talking about me. I felt like folks were making decisions about me, but without me, and ultimately they were rewriting the rules.”
Now, with record diesel prices, the war in Iran and tariffs, Shoffner said she believes that Arkansas voters of all stripes want something different. She’s also glad that the race hasn’t seen an influx of outside air support from national Democratic groups.
As we all know, she, as a junior Senator from Flyoverstan, will be perfectly positioned to fix all that in her first 100 days in office. Stand back, America, and give her room to spread her wings!
