Friday Morning Links

The Jaguars drilled the hapless Ravens. Rashee Rice files for Bankruptcy. LIV Golf is done. And across the pond, Celtic finally won a game in Europe while Bournemouth stayed perfect in Europa League play. And in local news, the big 24 Hours Of Lemons race at MSR Houston is this week. I hope y’all wish the #65 car and its team of crack drivers (including me and Mad Scientist) lots of luck as we take on 124 other cars for 14 hours of racing. And that’s it for sports.

Uh, maybe you ought to move or get insurance. Because on a long enough timeline, you’re eventually gonna see water. And no, it’s not because of climate change, dummy.

I didn’t see this coming. In a just world, this would lead to a lot of investigations. In California it will result in nothing.

Florida keeps winning. Must be nice.

Now he can turn his life around. I guess that was the retarded judge’s logic. Who the hell knows.

Somebody explain this nonsense to me. The evidence was basically a couple people saying “he did it.” But I guess that’s enough in England. Sadly that will probably be coming back to the US soon. Or maybe it never left.

Welcome to the present! This will undoubtedly end in corruption.

Damn you, ICE! It was only supposed to be torts, not hoochie mamas.

Nice timing, shitheads. Should have done this months ago.

Then go outside, you lazy fucks. I assume this will either be Trump’s or Big Tech’s fault.

I hope they all had fun. But seriously, I guess all the parents saying something like this would happen for at least the last 50 years are finally vindicated. But not the ones who scared us with the “razor blades in apples” stuff. They can’t ride this one.

Something fun for you this morning. Well, fun for me anyway. But hopefully it is for you as well. Enjoy them both.

And have a wonderful Friday and weekend, dear friends.

Something fun for you this morning.

    <====

    • Not Adahn

Always makes me think of Pump up the Volume. Silly youth rebellion movie but I was the right audience for it.

      • rhywun

I was actually expecting something else but yours is the obligatory.

      • rhywun

        Ausgezeichnet.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

you and me both, NA. ate that shit with a fork

      • DrOtto

Who didn’t like Happy Harry Hard-on? On a re-watch, I don’t know how it would hold up, but the music in it was excellent. My favorite piece was the Beastie Boys song that I don’t believe has ever been released on an album.

      • Not Adahn

I don’t want to potentially ruin a childhood memory by rewatching it.

I guess “kids these days” would have a podcast? Don’t know how hard it would be to block one of those, but there’s no way some teenage middle class kid is setting up a radio transmitter, much less making it mobile.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

yeah, i will leave it in the place of fond memories

  2. rhywun

Raman thanked Bass for “her decades of service to the city” and for her work to make LA “the epitome of the American Dream.”

    🤣😂

No mention of the ballot dump that got her into the general or the ballot dump that won her the election.

    • AlexinCT

What happens at democrat election cheating club, stays at democrat election cheating club.

    • juris imprudent

Bass and Raman became frontrunners after the primary election when they rallied ahead of third-place candidate Pratt.

      BWHAHAHAhahahahaha

  3. AlexinCT

“Somebody explain this nonsense to me. The evidence was basically a couple people saying “he did it.” But I guess that’s enough in England. Sadly that will probably be coming back to the US soon. Or maybe it never left.”

    Woke 2.0.

    • Drake

They didn’t feel comfortable coming forward with their stories until he became a Christian conservative commentator.

Meanwhile Paki rape gangs are free to do as they please.

      • DrOtto

That’s because rape gangs are a beautiful part of their woven cultural pagentry.

      • Nephilium

        The Bee has you covered.

    • WTF

It never left. A civil jury in Manhattan convicted Trump of sexual assault with no evidence at all. Because OMB.

      • WTF

Statute of limitations? Hell, just some actual evidence would be nice.

      • DrOtto

And that regret is based on “he’s full of wrong think now”.

  4. WTF

NYC mom vomits as ‘monster’ friend who stabbed her 22 times with young daughter in next room receives light sentence

What are the odds that NYC mom votes Democrat?

    • creech

Not a good bet. If you’ve ever watched “Law & Order” you’d know the story lines are populated with right wing office holders in NYC who are alleged to be doing something criminal. They wouldn’t lie on TV shows, would they?

      • rhywun

I love Law & Order but yeah that is one of their ridiculous tics. Another one is the (A)DA’s always seeking the death penalty. I forget how long it was actually even a thing but it was definitely less time than the show pretended, and there was never any chance that a real DA was gonna seek it.

      • Not Adahn

For a while they justified that by having one of the ADAs being from Texas.

“How about this for an offer? Hang ’em all! No deals for anyone!”

  5. Plinker762

The LA mayor election is funny because the new commie mayor was almost knocked out in the primary but they vote harvested her to keep Pratt out of the main election.

    • rhywun

The idiot had even conceded before her communist backers had completed manufacturing enough votes to get her past Pratt.

She didn’t make the same mistake in the general. Not that anyone is going to look into any of it.

      • AlexinCT

So now that the idiot “won”, we are gonna get us some real fireworks?

      • juris imprudent

She’ll be competing with Brandon Johnson, Katie Wilson and Mamdani.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I am not surprised she won. Anything left of Pratt was going to take that seat. Bass done fucked up bad.

  6. R C Dean

I assume this will either be Trump’s or Big Tech’s fault.

    Por que no los dos?

    • WTF

I can’t wait to see how the Dems try to punish Elon for supporting Republicans.

      • rhywun

A lot of them literally want him dead and have said as much.

      • EvilSheldon

I keep hoping that when the push to nationalize Starlink starts gaining ground, is when we find out that those Starlink satellites have targeted de-orbit capability…

      • Ted S.

        De-orbit in Mayflower moving vans.

      • R C Dean

They can just be switched off, or all deorbited. Elon has enough of a John Galt vibe he might just do it. I hope so.

Now, when they come for SpaceX, he doesn’t have a realistic option for denying them that asset. Although just bricking every computer might do it.

      • AlexinCT

“I can’t wait to see how the Dems try to punish Elon for supporting Republicans.”

His crime was to buy Twitter and end their monopoly on the lies. And for this they need to destroy him. No matter the cost.

      • UnCivilServant

Tergeted deorbiting – using the falling satellites to take out individuals on the ground.

      • Nephilium

        R.C. Dean:

Now, I’m not a genius (not an EVIL one at least), but I would likely have considered a way to use my network of satellites to disrupt global communications and GPS signals.

      • Not Adahn

I mean at the very least you could have them blow up and scatter debris in orbit.

  7. Ownbestenemy

Texas governor vote tallies are insane.

Abbot pulled in his average number of votes and still lost by 7 pts.

Beto got 3.5, this chick got 5.2

Nearly 2 million swing. That isnt a republicans not voting, that is a demographic shift.

    • EvilSheldon

Republicans are mean. Women (especially the collection of Cluster B personality disorders that makes up modern feminism) won’t vote for people they think are mean.

This puts the Republicans in a very uncomfortable spot – in order to win elections, they need to emulate what the Spanberger democrats do. Campaign as kindly, reasonable moderates, then swing hard right after the election. Also, consolidate their power after being elected so they don’t get kicked out next term.

This is also the reason why ‘punishing the Republicans for being squishes, by not voting or voting for Democrats’ is stupid and self-destructive. The lesson the Republicans will learn from such a loss is, ‘…we need to squish harder to attract the voters who think we’re too mean!’

Of course, campaigning as kindly reasonable moderates won’t get them support from actual right-wing voters who have little reason to trust them.

*sigh* In conclusion, Democracy is a profoundly stupid and self-destructive system of governance.

      • Ted S.

Of course, mean only goes one way.

British blogger David Thompson likes to point out how “woke” is so often a fig leaf to be mean to people you disagree with and claim you’re the good guy.

      • juris imprudent

Scott Galloway is pushing mean with no pushback (from the left) or the Cluster B cunts.

      • WTF

Democracy is a profoundly stupid and self-destructive system of governance.

Which is why the founders established a constitutional republic, and only people with actual skin in the game could vote. They considered democratic universal suffrage to be nothing better than mob rule.

      • EvilSheldon

He’s right. I’ve often said the same thing. Progressivism is just a way for Cluster B pathology bundles to virtue-signal their own horrible personalities.

      • EvilSheldon

There is no functional difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic.

      • Ted S.

Yeah, but David Thompson is always worth mentioning.

      • Gender Traitor

        Cluster B pathology bundles

It has to be asked: Band name (presumably an all-chick ensemble) or album title?

      • Gender Traitor

And what hilarity do we now have in store vis-a-vis (insert your own accent grave) the electoral college?

      • WTF

The fundamental difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic lies in how decisions are made and how the rights of individuals are protected. While a pure democracy relies on unlimited majority rule, a constitutional republic operates under the rule of law via elected representatives, bound by a constitution that limits government power to protect individual rights

The US has morphed into a hybrid system of constitutional democracy.

      • Nephilium

        GT:

        Cluster B pathology bundles

        It’s a fest. The Cluster B-undle!

      • EvilSheldon

The fundamental difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic lies in how decisions are made and how the rights of individuals are protected.

Pull the other one, it’s got bells on it.

What it all boils down to is there has only ever been one form of government to exist at the nation-state level – oligarchy. The decisions are all made by politically connected bureaucrats, often from the same or adjacent families. The rights of individuals are protected to the extent they don’t conflict with the bureaucratic goal, and are ignored otherwise. ‘Democracy’, ‘Constitutional Republic’, ‘Monarchy’, even ‘Fascism’ and ‘Communism’ are just window dressing to obfuscate how the decisions really get made.

      • rhywun

Whew it’s a good thing the Dems are promising to end oligarchy!

      • Gender Traitor

        It’s a fest. The Cluster B-undle!

Mr. Ilium: Headlined by the last earthly remains of The [Formerly known as Dixie] Chicks?

      • R C Dean

There is no functional difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic.

Yup. Whenever things don’t go their way, the people who say “We’re not supposed to be a democracy, we’re supposed to be a constitutional republic” almost without exception can’t tell you what that really means.

Now, we’re not direct democracy, where every single government action goes to a popular vote and there isn’t even a legislature. But that’s not what anyone means when they refer to “democracy” these days. Some of the trappings of the republic – mainly, limited franchise and a legislative house appointed by the states – were trashed over a century ago. We kind of have a constitution, but what we really, functionally, have is a kritarchy – rule by judges.

  8. DrOtto

    Something, something 100 year storm.

  9. juris imprudent

Then go outside, you lazy fucks.

Holy fuck – the lead pic? From the major news source for women who love The Handmaid’s Tale?

Take it to the hoop, y’all, and Me. Hope to get to 400 today, but last Fri we all got moved to the Vault after we finished our in-house work. That’d be a chill way to end the week, if that’s regular.

You know who’s regular? Me. Dad? The Depends are ordered en masse. Be more like Me.

  11. DrOtto

Excellent music choices today, they’re usually good, but these were top notch picks.

      • DrOtto

I actually like that M/A/R/R/S song.

    • Common Tater

      Colourbox was much better imho.

      • rhywun

        MACO

      • rhywun

        Jesus, Ted’S.

        That was uncalled for.

    • trshmnstr

so I can choose Cyber truck or I can have an old Chevy and $80k in my pocket. Not a hard decision

    • Grumbletarian

They can make cars and SUVs that look decent, but for a truck Elon said “Let’s make a big F-117 on wheels, but give it a stainless steel exterior.”

      • Sensei

He became really fond of certain stainless steel alloys from SpaceX. The stainless he used could only be bent so much and it dictated a large part of the design of the truck.

  12. Common Tater

“The evidence was basically a couple people saying “he did it.” But I guess that’s enough in England. Sadly that will probably be coming back to the US soon. Or maybe it never left.”

It didn’t. What I find worse than that, and the anonymous accusers, is there is no statute of limitations. So how can anyone know what happened? It works both ways. More innocent get convicted, and more guilty go free.

  13. Common Tater

“Teens worldwide aren’t getting enough exercise — especially girls”

    END CHILD UNEMPLOYMENT

How old is the email application in that article?

    For UnCivil:

No, REO Industries does not yet have a factory.
As of November 2026, the Texas-based startup is in the pre-production development phase and has not announced a specific manufacturing location.

The company’s current roadmap involves the following milestones:

November 2026: Reveal of the final production designs for the REO Runabout lineup.

2027: Build and test pilot vehicles for validation and federal certification.

2028: Open the order book and begin manufacturing.

Late 2028/2029: Target for first customer deliveries.

While REO plans to assemble the Runabout T4X, T4C, and S4C in Texas, the facility has not yet been established or announced.

To me that means the whole project could be screwed, with a democrat governor coming in.

    • UnCivilServant

Alternatively, since they don’t have a building to uproot, they could say “We wanted a factory in texas, but are building in [Favorable State X] because of new hostile conditions” without losing much momentum.

      • Common Tater

So you are saying they can’t stop this feeling anymore?

      • R.J.

        Yes, very true.

    • EvilSheldon

Shooting indoors kinda sucks, but being able to shoot indoors whenever I wanted…maybe.

I need to stop coming out to southern Utah. Every time I visit, I don’t want to leave. Beautiful scenery, surprisingly friendly people, and one of the last places where you can drive fifteen minutes out of town into BLM land, pick a backstop, and go shooting.

  15. Not Adahn

The cafeteria is celebrating Nachos Day.

They have a rather…. expansive idea of what constitutes nachos. Potato chips are an option. Toppings include corned beef and sauerkraut.

    • Sensei

Any idea who runs the foodservice? Amarak for example, does my company cafeteria.

      • Not Adahn

An Italian restaurant chain/catering service. One St. Paddy’s they had corned beef and RED (braised in wine with apples, caraway and coriander) cabbage.

    • Grumbletarian

That sounds like nacho typical ingredients.

    • UnCivilServant

      *sigh*

      I’m okay with random-assed toppings.

I’m not oay with replacing the foundational tortilla chips. I’d advocate corn tortilla, but will grudgingly accept flour tortilla, but those are the only two options.

    • Nephilium

Chips are too fragile for a proper Irish nacho. I’ve seen places doing it with potato discs (like the old BW3’s ‘chips’) or with fried boxty wedges.

      • kinnath

A local joint used to use waffle fries for Irish Nachos.

      • UnCivilServant

        That’s just loaded fries.

Nachos have to be built on tortilla chips.

      • Not Adahn

They may in fact be offering Saratoga-style potato chips.

    • UnCivilServant

Revealed preference – the public at large does not like people who are assholes towards random members of the public for internet plaudits.

      • EvilSheldon

Remember the dude in Fairfax, VA who shot an Instagram prankster who was hassling him?

The guy was 100% indisputably guilty of attempted murder – but the jury found him not guilty, because everyone hates practical jokers. Something to ponder.

      • Common Tater

I’ll take someone being an asshole for 20 minutes for $785,000

    • UnCivilServant

Cheesesteak, which by my definition requires cheese, cannot be kosher, as it mixes meat and dairy in the same dish.

      • Sensei

Correct he calls it Jewish and kosher. Like and Italian sandwich.

BTW – the owner is Jewish.

      • Ted S.

        Jewish, or Reform?

      • Sensei

        NOT kosher

    • rhywun

      • trshmnstr

No, the reinforcing effect of social media prevents these “idiosyncrasies” from being beat out of them at an early age.

You can find your pack of narcissists online and get nothing but dopamine hits from them as you do the most awful things.

      • UnCivilServant

Eh, being detatched from reality, hyper-narcissistic, and entitled seems par for the course these days.

The paint sample you posted last night looks good.

It’s probably stunning in the sunlight, the pic does not do it justice.

      • kinnath

The sun is shinning today, but it will be dark when I get home for some strange reason.

I can get it out in the sunlight tomorrow and take new photos.
