Propane Dawn

Dawn approaches,

trickles of pink,

mix with grey dawn,

In the east,

Ice fog obscures,

hoarfrost coated trees,

shimmering in silver,

sunrise clear and cold,

a crisp blue sky,

shattered by wind,

and patterned in cloud,

to turn away,

from pervasive fiends,

you cannot win against,

layer on layer,

will not help,

Icicles on fingertips,

water gives no respite,

sideways hail stinging,

waves in all directions,

questions which direction,

the wind prevails,

silver and green,

blurry shapes as miles go by,

stop to look, and see,

and remembrance,

home again to quiet walks,

on river banks and slow,

waiting for the world to end,

or has it just begun,
