You can’t take Al away, Al made it fun

I watched a couple episodes of the Quantum Leap reboot.   Without getting into the obvious problem they ran out of ideas and its a show taking place in the future, so naturally in the future a trans character will be accepted without question—Here’s why the reboot doesn’t work:

The people that like the original like the campiness and the low budget, low quality filming.  It wasn’t particularly good even for the early 90’s, but the concept is cool enough to ignore that.  Like many science fiction shows depicting the future, it is bound by the technology available at the time, which gives it a certain charm and often why shows like this have a cult following.  This is not like Battlestar Galactica, where they made a better show in every way possible to not antagonize the cult. No, they literally took the concept, gave it modern graphics and made Al a woman.  Its a reboot where they actually recycle episodes from the original.  Everything about it is lazy.

So I binge watched the first season of the original over the weekend.

The big story this morning is a group of migrants at a detention facility in Mexico lit a mattress on fire in protest, and wound up burning the whole place down.

In another sign of semi-autonomous rule, the Gulf Cartel apologizes for kidnapping American medical tourists.  I guess that was Carl, he’s new.

Why vote when the winner will be Castro?

Since there was only one candidate running for each of the 470 legislative seats, turnout was watched by observers as a political thermometer.

At least the Soviets pretended to give the choice between two communists.

Honduras no longer recognizes diplomatic ties with Taiwan as the real China. Which is part of a larger trend in Latin America.

The Sur” and why an EU like currency alliance in South America probably won’t work.  My first guess is there isn’t anything resembling the German economy there to prop everyone else up.

A year after El Presidente Dude Bro cracked down on the gangs running his country, he’s trolling the US.  Good for him.

I don’t follow Formula 1, but I assume everything about this story is true, including Lewis Hamilton being gay.

The trouble with some of these posthumous track releases, is there is probably a reason they didn’t release it while they were still alive.
