I’m waiting patiently for a batch of training records from a contractor. I hate this one, because its for cultural competency. The trouble I have with it, is I have to review the training slides…for every contractor we have in 19 states.

That’s one thing that actually bugs me these days — the widespread perception (at least that’s how it looks to me) in America that whites have no inherent culture. When non-white cultures (for lack of a better term) adopt items from western cultures, it’s colonialism and it’s bad. When it goes the other way, it’s appropriation and it’s bad.
Joking aside, even from within a single source country for immigration there are different cultures. The book Albion’s Seed detailed four different cultures that came from England alone: the Puritans, the Quakers, the Cavaliers and the Scots-Irish. There certainly were other cultures, especially if you expand that to Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Cornwall. I can only imagine how many different cultures came from Germany since so many of the German immigrants arrived before Germany was united. If I wanted to be persnickety I’d say it’s racist to group all whites together as if it was a single culture.

I saw containers of both at the butcher’s shop. Though of Mo teething her kid on them, then walked on, because I was there for beef.
They were fried. I didn’t give her raw gizzards.
I may have had a mental conflation with other meat-related conversations where the protein wasn’t cooked.
Though if I were to be pedantic, I’d point out I hadn’t claimed the teething was on raw chicken, just that spotting them reminded me of that conversation.

My grandfather used to keep one of those in the fridge…sliced off pieces and ate it on rye bread with mustard. That’s the only place I’ve had it but it was pretty good from what I recall.

I take iron pills before and after giving blood. I’m O+ so I try to give as often as I can. It’s probably the most useful thing I do. I got a $40 gift card the last time I gave. There was a critical shortage, hence the gift cards.
I can’t give blood at all. My veins are too tiny. They can barely get 3 vials out of me for routine blood work, and they have to stick me in the hand. Woe betide if I haven’t had enough water to drink.
