Night Feeder

Pro tip: When you make a movie poster, be sure to not give away everything up front. This is the revised poster.

Night Feeder

This is a hilariously low-budget schlocky film.  Things I love about this:

  1. The scenes inside the punk club.  I mentioned this around Halloween – the orchestrated scenes of dancing in the punk club where all the cool kids go is laughable.  I could just have that on a GIF loop and laugh all day.
  2. The gore is actually pretty good!  Somebody has some skills. Certainly not the majority of actors or the writer. But the special effects are good.
  3. I still have no idea what was going on in this film.  The plot is… convoluted.  So I enjoyed it more as a set piece. I believe a little more money to hire some seasoned professionals would have made this a big hit. Still, everybody who worked on this film has heart.  And brains… And eyeballs…

This is a mystery murder film – who is killing and eating people in the city?  Is it zombies?  Crazy looking homeless dude?  Or something else? One bit of trivia: At some point the poster was changed to just show a big hand threatening a lady, because the original poster gave away the whodunnit. So if you want to solve the mystery, click that link in the previous sentence.

Regardless of the super-low budget, I enjoyed the effects and the ridiculous club scenes.  Enjoy it as a piece of 1980s nostalgia.  I can’t say too much more about it, because work is busy, and time is short. I will watch this again with all of you to see if it makes better sense this time.

So watch!  Or don’t!  Everything is voluntary until someone tries to feed on your brain.  Next week, we are going in blind! Linda Lovelace for President!  Supposedly, it is a film designed to offend everybody.  Will it? we shall find out together!

I wish I knew. He has been an infrequent visitor.

We have many of those. Way too many of our previous regular commenters have gone missing. We also haven’t had any new members here in a very long time. Perhaps, our policy on admitting new people is way too onerous. It’s like this site is slowly dying.

            • Don escaped Texas

I think there are two main issues.

There was some systemic issue about new members, but I don’t think we’re getting the freebies of the past. I don’t know who does what, but I life has got in the way and there just isn’t the horsepower or bandwidth to minister to the gurgles of the old boiler and pipes. I’m a gearhead and can’t do anything to help but would be glad to throw money at it if that helped.

            • Mojeaux

It’s only onerous in that nobody new CAN be approved because SP took the knowledge of how to do that with her when she left.

              • Don escaped Texas

I thought it was something in that range but didn’t want to mispeak or seem ungrateful for the platform or to the many who helped me get going posting here.

              • Chafed

                I didn’t realize that.

            • Brochettaward

It’s a site that started as an offshoot of another site’s commenting section. it does nothing that I know of to advertise itself (not saying it has to) and most of the new people who joined simply came here by word of mouth from friends of there’s. And those are few and between. I don’t typically share my online activity with people in my personal life. Not that I’m doing anything crazy by posting here, but I don’t speak politics much.

The site also has a lot of inside jokes and humor. Stuff that’s funny maybe if you know the history behind it. Like the Steve Smith gag. Or Sugarfree and CPRM’s content. It’s not necessarily accessible to new posters. And when we are talking politics, we are coming at it from a fringe minority position. The articles are a hodge podge of community contributions that run the gambit so nothing that would really stick out to new posters right away. Even if you’re libertarian, a lot of the site’s content isn’t political. It’s stuff geared around a self-supporting community of politically like-minded individuals.

I don’t think the moderation of new comments is a big roadblock, though I haven’t created a sock puppet account to find out. It’s the above that prevents real growth.

Then a lot of the people who post here and do some from work. They come home and they just aren’t that interested in hanging out here. It’s really only a few night time posters who have become less frequent for whatever reason, but it’s pretty much always been a small group of us shooting the shit at night.

            • Brochettaward

It’s only onerous in that nobody new CAN be approved because SP took the knowledge of how to do that with her when she left.

I was not aware of this. So you are saying no one new can sign up?

              • rhywun

                That was my understanding too.

              • Mojeaux

                Correct.

              • slumbrew

I’m hopeful that my offer to help will be accepted at some point.

Again, not a wordpress expert but I am a legitimate expert (60,000+ hours I figure) on all things linux.

              • Chafed

                @slumbrew you’re hired!

              • Mojeaux

I dabble in WordPress. I didn’t realize how much of a dilettante I really am until I tried to take on Glibs. I know what needs to be done but I don’t know how to do it without destroying the whole thing, so I noped right out.

              • R.J.

You can sign up. An existing Glib has to help you get your verification email, and somebody has to know to go release your first three comments. Nobody is watching that shop closely. I got Bethannica and Spaniard on here in the past 3 years. Sadly neither comments.

            • Don escaped Texas

The second thing might be a sort of post-Trump malaise. Glibs seems to break down into two camps, and it’s like abortion: there’s no fixing or bridging or reconciling.

Some on the Trump-be-a-clown side like JB just got sick of the constant rationalizations and opted out.

I think I smell a few own-the-libs who don’t think it’s funny any more and suddenly are saying Trump’s a terrible person but you can’t vote Blue (of course, who would argue otherwise!?!) and it’s just not enough to spend four hours a day in a chatroom over: fiddling while Rome burns and pointing to voting conspiracies isn’t satisfying even when the majority agree with you.

I think those who can see the comment tally (to the extent that is a proxy) have said things have tapered off. A lot of the posts are not hard-hittiing (I know, I know, this from the guy who can spend four hours a day pointing and laughing at the AP’s football rankings). Thanks to all who post, but I much much prefer the philosophical stuff and the occasional AR vs AK debate to a 12-hour astrology/open chat.

              • Brochettaward

I think there’s times for open chat and more structured articles. The astrology/open post stuff is good when there’s major events that are going to dominate discussion, anyway. Though that mostly seems to be football these days as most people are tapped out of politics on the daily. Very few people care about, say, the SOTU and the primaries are just a formality with the debates being a clown show only good for a sound bite or two.

Not going to wade in on Trump outside to say that his entire term was a boon for all politically-oriented sites. I think a lot of Glibs are just depressed with Biden and then people are tired of the only other option being Trump. We’ll see what a second campaign from Trump brings. Maybe it will just tick more people off.

Though, I think if what we are arguing about is whether Trump is a necessary evil to piss on the DC elite (very few people here are serious Trump supporters) or they hate Trump and don’t care is rather…negligible and inconsequential. He either wins or he doesn’t.

I get accused of being a Trumpster and I don’t even fucking vote. I’m certainly not going to any rallies. Now I’m talking about Trump again…

              • Don escaped Texas

Another thing about the political energy might be our origin story and demographic.

I came over from TOS because I enjoyed Gilmore in particular and the Glibbish end of the commentariat. We’re dying off here literally and figuratively. And the tighter community has an echo chamber quality to it: to some extent, we got wrapped around our own axle and have thrashed ourselves to death. Young guys got families and moved on. Things just tapered off: who needs to hear the same stuff 66% of the time; I don’t blame anyone who might feel that way.

Same with all the recent legitimate gripes. Virus kabuki was appalling and revealed our neighbors to be even worse than we thought, but then Michigan re-elects their governor. That sort of thing cast a what’s the use pall over things: losing isn’t fun.

              • Don escaped Texas

The astrology/open post stuff is good when there’s major events that are going to dominate discussion, anyway.

Right, and I wasn’t bitching. Speaking for myself, I’ve only got a few ideas about guns, a few high theories, and one or two crosswords in me. I’ve got only one why-I’m-a-libertarian story. I never had any new ideas, and now I’ve told all my old ones….to whatever effect….that leaves gossip and mayonnaise recipes.

Isn’t that the Deep Throat chick?

That is a possibility in this film. Now next week we have the star of Behind the Green Door.

Oooo! It really doesn’t ruin anything major. Still enjoyable. This “shot on video” look is hard to take though.

  9. Brochettaward

Finished listening to the Jeffery Epstein podcast posted here ~2 weeks ago. It’s 5 hours long and ends with disclaimers about how the guy isn’t trying to say anything about any group of people or particular individual or Jews.

But then he makes clear that the reason Epstein could get away with what he did for so long is because his behavior wasn’t really viewed as that strange by our elites. Which is a pretty damning indictment of a group of people.

It’s hard to listen to all of it and not walk away thinking that yes…we are “led” or ruled by a group of perverted, sick fucks who may or may not be into pedophilia. And I could pretty easy start with a name: Podesta. The guy was talking in code (something I’ve mentioned for years, ignored by the media completely, and which comes up in this podcast). There’s too much smoke there. Pedophilia is what makes the most sense and he was labeled as such by Breitbart way back in the 00’s.That’s the sort of thing a guy like Andrew Breitbart doesn’t say unless he’s pretty damn convinced its true.

Link for anyone interested. Long, but worth listening to. Lots of interesting shit in here about the dirty shit governments and intelligence agencies will do:
    https://www.martyrmade.com/featured-podcasts/the-jeffrey-epstein-series

    • Brochettaward

Also, special shoutout for the media for their role in covering this shit up. A year after his conviction for this shit prominent news personalities were at this bitches home where he was surrounded by young girls.

They all knew. That fuck Jimmy Kimmel almost certainly knew. Shit is just normal to them.

      • R.J.

All of them are more perverted and sick than we can possibly imagine. A few more years of this and they will surpass Caligula. I expect Biden will appoint his dog to a cabinet position after his next stolen election.

    • Mojeaux

yes…we are “led” or ruled by a group of perverted, sick fucks who may or may not be into pedophilia

It’s not just the elite that’s doing it, though. It’s the vast bureaucracy the elite has personally staffed that can now function autonomously of its creators to carry out the directives as programmed.

I like to write rich people because I am not rich and I don’t want to spend my leisure time reading about people with money issues. I live it; I’m not going to try to escape into it.

Anyway, it occurred to me some time ago, with the storyline I was writing at the time, that even if my characters existed and had that much money and political power as I gave them, they STILL wouldn’t be rich or powerful enough to withstand a pummeling by the likes of the Clintons. Then Trump comes along and HE can’t escape these people no matter how much money he has. There is no out, no escape, no Galt’s Gulch. Nowhere to run. These people will kill you as look at you with no hesitation, which may be a kinder fate than them fucking with you for their personal amusement.

Epstein didn’t kill himself, but why bother suiciding him? The people on that list are untouchable—and only the icky people will care.

      • Brochettaward

One question that I haven’t seen answered is the why of Epstein’s downfall. I guess there was just too much heat on him as if memory serves correctly, people started to pay attention finally to the fact that he was a convicted pedophile and the government kind of had to take another look. But was it really just a side-effect of me-too bullshit?

    • R C Dean

Haven’t listened to it, but I’ve long believed that our rulers are either perverted and evil, or they know all about and tolerate those who are. It’s one of the reasons why, when the Burning Times come, I will point and laugh as they are whipped through the streets.

      • Brochettaward

There are many examples in the podcast of government elite covering for or going along with sexual abuse by peers or intelligence assets. Or intelligence agencies perhaps running honeypots for sick fucks.

One such example that few people bring up is Dennis Hastert. Former Republican Speaker of the House. The judge who convicted him called him a “serial child molester” of young boys. He then proceeded to give him a whopping 13 months in prison.

There’s also the Dutroux scandal from Belgium.

Kincora Boy’s home in the UK.

        • Brochettaward

It also briefly touches on the conspiracy “theory” that Manson was an intelligence asset or part of Project MK-ULTRA.

          • Tres Cool

Same with Oswald. If you want to believe.

            • Mojeaux

Anymore, old conspiracy theories are just spoiler alerts.

    • Bob Boberson

This is/was an important podcast. Like you said; too much smoke. Even if the only rock solid truth in the podcast is Podesta’s taste in art it begs the question; what kind of degenerates run things in Washington?

      • Sean

The worst kind. Not the fun kind.

  10. R.J.

It still didn’t make great sense after a second watch.

    • dbleagle

Interesting commercial. I can’t really argue about the view but would like to point out that Lebanon has suffered the same fate with Hezbollah.

    • Suthenboy

Governments and quasi governments like Hamas are born of culture. Yes, Gaza could have been very different but until the culture there changes it will remain as it is. Hamas is a symptom, not the cause. That and of course the Iranian govt that funds Hamas.

      • Brochettaward

The Palestinians have a victimhood culture. I know the Israelis/neocons like to call it a death cult or culture of death like at the end of the ad, but it’s really just the typical victimhood mentality that fails people across the globe.

These people will never build anything of value because they are incapable of it. There is no accountability within their culture. Everything is Israel’s fault. It’s the same as groups who blame the white man for everything and stay mired in poverty despite being free of them for generations. They want shit handed to them. Palestinians won’t build anything, and they don’t appreciate what they have because all of it comes from foreign aid.

The ruling class is fine with this arrangement. They get to skim off the top like Arafat did and live the high life while their moronic subjects blame everything on the Jew.

        • Suthenboy

          Well said.

  13. dbleagle

I would like to comment more but I am permanently 5-6 hours behind the flow. My current job doesn’t permit conditions where I can contribute during the day, so in the mornings I am “comment 297” and in the evening most of the Glibs are already in bed. (That night owl Hayek excepted.)

This place is a den of sanity and I value it and the contributions of all. Hopefully somebody can figure out how to let in new people and that should help stimulate new or relooked conversations.

    • Bob Boberson

^Same for me, not that I’ve ever been a prolific commenter. Also was a lot easier to both comment and contribute when I was in a do-nothing job and could access the site from my work computer. I now mostly scroll dead threads when 99% of the commentariat are asleep.

  14. hayeksplosives

    You rang? 😊

Yeah the time zone issue can be difficult to work around. Even Pacific Time is a noticeable lag, though nowhere near the Hawaii time lag.

On busy work days, I don’t get around to checking Glibs until I’m home, and often then I have housework or work projects to do . Sometimes I read but can’t post.

I always appreciate the advice and product recommendations Glibs share. And it’s nice virtually hanging out with like-minded people.

Good night, best “bulletin board “ comrades.

The poor federales only get a two-hour delay, which if I recall my time working in fedspace, is the norm for many of them.

          • Ownbestenemy

WTF…guess that only applies to DC. We are expected to be at work like normal unless there is some major blizzard and even then, expected to get in to work if equipment/services go down.

        • R.J.

Wow! Here in Tex-ass we are hitting the 50s today. I turned off the heater last night and opened a few windows to let the stench of the Glib post out. I may go for a walk.

    Mornin’ all

    • Contrarian P

Good morning. To echo what was said by others, I comment infrequently because my schedule is such that I’m usually reading way after things are posted, but I do read, and I value the people here.

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ContraP, Beau, rhy, Ted’S,, and Sean!

If I didn’t have this place to visit first thing in the morning and as I’m able throughout the day, I don’t know what I’d do. Possibly something productive, and where’s the fun in that?

In local news, it’s a veritable winter wonderland outside here in SW OH. Can’t wait to get out there and dig out my car. Zippy wow. 🙄🌨❄⛄

        • UnCivilServant

          Morning.

    Mornin’, reprobates!

    • Ownbestenemy

That was a fun drive into work. Had to only brush off a few inches of snow…started driving and realized…this desert boy forgot to brush off the headlights.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

LOL. Funny how y’all down south have way more snow than we do.

        • Ownbestenemy

“down south”…its why I love this place.

          • Tres Cool

I was doing boiler work at an Eastern Kentucky university years ago. Talking to the operators about the last round of testing and who did it, one said “a van full of fellers like ya’all came down here from WAY UP NORTH”
When I asked where that was he said, “not far from you- Cincinnati, I think”

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie! Guess I’d better start getting ready to leave early. Per the local traffic map, it’s slow going out there.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

Ugh. I do not miss commuting.

  18. Not Adahn

    Morning!

I too was most enamored of the Independents live commenting, and was hoping for that crew. Kibbe/GMSM never really transferred over, Gilmore left, and the Manhattan Beach duo Noped out along with some of the OG glibs fairly early on when a batch of new (but loyal!) commentors came in and harshed their mellow (that was purely my read on the situation, none of them have told me this.)

This site’s norms are not the same as the founders probably hoped for. And from what I understand, the Glibertarian Commentors Front split off and formed a parallel, rarely overlapping Discord community.

    • Ownbestenemy

Ya the Discord versus here is interesting to see. Hell I felt like an outsider there whenever I do drop in.

      • R.J.

Interesting. I like this group here. Can’t say I’d want a more serious political discussion vibe, if that is what they were looking for. I felt like the doom and gloom was running people off from here.

    • Suthenboy

I am not familiar with this Discord thingy.
I like it here just fine. An island of sanity in an ocean of stupid. I also like that my middlin’ intellect is exposed to people smarter than I am.
      Good morning all.

      • R.J.

        What he said. Good morning!

      • Grumbletarian

If I didn’t like it here, I’d be somewhere else.

  19. Tres Cool

    Snow, snow, snow!

Had to clear off the POS Envoy™ so Jugsy could get to work.
This time next week Ill be in California, but seems its Monsoon season there.
