Rosie O’Donnell Is Back in the USA
Donald Trump has forced more than one comedian into a bout of seeming madness. How odd that the same guy who once could have run into Kathy Griffin, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert at Emmys after-parties would eventually become such a nuisance to each of their careers. All three enraged him in different ways, before and after he became president, and all three have had their livelihoods affected to varying degrees as a result. But no one is more synonymous with early Trump—New York City Trump, Apprentice Trump, the Trump who was always calling Page Six on himself—than Rosie O’Donnell.
O’Donnell has had a four-decade career, but at least a few years of it have been colored by a spat she had with the owner of the Miss Universe pageant. She was a co-host of The View in 2006 and 2007, and she did a little imitation of Trump in 2006. “I just think this man is one of those snake-oil salesmen in Little House on the Prairie,” she said. “Donald, sit and spin, my friend.” O’Donnell’s comments set off a now 20-year feud between the two of them, with both fighting on social media well into Trump’s presidency.
After Trump’s reelection, O’Donnell decided to move her family out of the U.S., and her old foe has since threatened to revoke her citizenship. In that time, she’s had comparatively little to say onstage or on television.
But this month, she has returned to New York with a new off-Broadway one-woman show. Common Knowledge, a 75-minute production that is not quite stand-up and not quite a monologue, features O’Donnell onstage talking to the audience about her move to Ireland, her wise and wry and nonbinary autistic child, and the unbearable realization that you actually have very little figured out, even at 64.
Despite his bluster, Trump would had almost no way to revoke her citizenship, but if he was able to it would have been funnier than anything Rosie ever said…

Jared Leto has been accused of sexual misconduct by four women, who allege the acts took place when they were teenagers.
The allegations are detailed in the new BBC documentary, “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” and stem from alleged encounters with the Oscar winner between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s, the BBC reported.
The four women, who were between the ages of 16 and 19 at the time of the alleged assaults, are identified in the documentary as “Isabel,” “Alex,” “Clara” and “Etta,” though those are not their real names.
“Isabel” alleged that the “Dallas Buyers Club” star, now 54, sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17 in 2002.

The people demanding that we smother AI with a pillow are really the height of delusional. No matter how bad the potential consequences of it all is at some point, the reality is that the technology is already out in the wild. Everyone has it. I’m going to guess the Chinese skipped a few hundred billion in R&D costs and just engaged in much cheaper corporate espionage. Whatever they do have, they have enough to where it’s probably even more dangerous to allow them to develop the tech unchecked while we handcuff ourselves.
It’s an arms race and has been from the start. And attempts to de-arm or deescalate will be even less effective than attempts made with nuclear weapons.
It’s a lost battle and some other solution is going to have to be found here.
Smart is a loaded word. It has access and the ability to parse through data at orders of magnitude from what a human can. It’s potentially powerful and dangerous.
People have this tendency to judge where the tech is when we are really in its infancy. I have little real doubt that it’s going to get far more impressive and more dangerous as time goes on.
But like I said, the idea of killing it in its crib is long past.
But if AI keeps developing it can take all the good bureacrat jobs and what happens to the poor government employees?

The tone is as if he’s being humane by saying that. But I really want to underscore this aspect of it.
In saying this, he actually stated straight out that knocking out power for 91 million people is something he’s giving serious consideration to. Listen to that clip. At the end, he says, I will do this if Iran doesn’t do my bidding.
Now, I think a lot of reporters hear this and say, he won’t do it, that’s a lot of bluster. But I don’t think that’s the right way to react. We should be saying, it’s unfathomably sociopathic that he’s even considering it, and an American president shouldn’t be talking this way. What do you think?

Man gets money back
A man who has not been charged with a crime after Pennsylvania State Police seized cash and two cellphones last year during a traffic stop in Centre County will recover most of the money under a settlement filed Tuesday. Wendell Green, of Westmoreland County, will get back $23,000 and two iPhones that were seized by troopers during an August traffic stop on Interstate 80. Under the terms of the agreement, he will forfeit $9,000.
So he not only got fucked over by the Pennsylvania State Police, he also paid $9,000 for the pleasure?
He should be paid back with usurious interest which is pulled directly from the salaries of the cops who took it.

And the more that he talks about it but doesn’t do it, the more he sends a signal to the Iranians, but also to the global community, that he is all bluster—that there is no strategy here other than going on Fox and Friends and bragging about how big his bombs are. Which, I’m sorry, that’s not actually a strategy.
