Senate leaders reach deal to fund government past the midterm elections
Keep the streak of missing the deadline going. It has been almost 30 years since all appropriations have passed in time.
So CR’s are now ‘regular order’?
To me, this is primary evidence that the American electorate is utterly incompetent.
This is their most basic function, and they dont even try to do it. They don’t even do actual line by line budgets. Just giant omnibus bills with special rules to get it through.
This is the source of that soaring debt. This is the root of the bureaucratic state’s power.
And we the people couldn’t care less. Not as long as our guy votes for gun bans. Or against Trans women in sport. Or for partial birth abortion…. whatever shiny and ultimately pointless social issue of the day they come up with to divide and conquer.
Pogo was right.
Pogo was right.
So was Franklin “…when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other.”
“Trump warns Iran will be hit ‘really hard’ if nuclear negotiations collapse again”
Is this seventh or eighth time?
Is he capable of realizing that the Islamic Republic has no interest in making a deal and less chance of honoring one.
I know he sees himself as the great dealmaker, but you can’t negotiate with people who see talks as merely a venue to lie and make promises without any intention of keeping them.
Would’ve been nice if he knew that before he started into this. We aren’t going to obliterate the Iranian people, and absent that, we aren’t changing their government.
JI, On that we disagree. there is a middle ground outcome where the Islamic Replublic is removed.
It will require the assistance of the Iranians themselves, but we’re not talking a whole country of fanatical regime supporters.
Yup.
I suspect the regime is more popular than Westerners think. We get our impression of the opposition to it from the big cities, but the countryside is likely to be much more conservative and supportive.
We (us / Israel same thing at this point) literally murdered their negotiators twice.
where the Islamic Replublic is removed
Neo-con wet dream, that is all that is. We can remove governments, like we did to conclude WWII. But we aren’t going to annoy them out of existence, and that is all we are doing now.
STFU, Trump. You’re just embarrassing yourself. The master negotiator is being played like a fiddle by the IRGC.
There is no deal to be had here. Your options are to declare victory and go home, kicking the can to your successor, or to bomb the shit out of their infrastructure so they spend the next generation getting back to an industrial society.
One cannot embarrass oneself if one is without shame.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKMw2it8dQY
This.
What a shit show. And he’s handing the midterms to the Dem circus too.
This is getting embarrassing. The only option at this point is spend a couple of weeks bombing them into the stone age so they can’t cause trouble for a while and declare victory. It’s ridiculous that he can’t seem to accept this reality.
Ah yes, bomb them back to the Stone Age. Didn’t we do that in Viet Nam?
Ah yes, bomb them back to the Stone Age. Didn’t we do that in Viet Nam?
True. But in our far more modern world losing large chunks of electricity generation and oil production would take years to recover.
Although I expect if we did so the howls from the rest of the world would be deafening.
Although I expect if we did so the howls from the rest of the world would be deafening.
In the immortal words of Tony Soprano, who gives a shit?
Are there even negotiations? It all just sounds made up in Trump’s head.
Trump and a host of others, including the general Generals, are still fighting the war they never learned from.
Trump and many more never took the opportunity to visit VN and live in the woods for a year. They’re forgetting something they never knew.
Fourscore is on to something. Whereas once everything was in comparison to Viet Nam, now it is all about Iraq. Look, we took down that government (and pay no attention to the consequences to the entire region) – we can do regime change!!!
Iraq showed we can do regime change with a full-scale invasion, not with air strikes alone.
Is Iraq really better off today? How about Syria?
The truth is we don’t know, we just know that we got rid of people OUR GOVERNMENT didn’t find accommodating. Maybe that’s good enough for you, but I’m not convinced. And I’m certainly not suggesting that any government over there is good and ruling rightfully, just that whether they do or don’t, it isn’t our fucking business. After all, we can’t even get our own government to govern well.
Iraq was better until we left.
Same with Afghanistan, there they needed our air cover to play whack a mole.
Sadam kept the sectarian violence down fairly well. We replaced him, and then left.
I don’t disagree with you JI, but since Trump decided to stick our dick in Iran, we need to do whatever we need to in order to get an outcome that’s not a total loss for us in order to get out.
If there was one useful lesson from Kosovo, it’s that we bombed military and strategic targets for 60 days and got no movement. Then we started bombing/interrupting infrastructure and the serbian people frog marched Milosevic to the negotiation table.
Wasn’t there some expectation that the US was supposed to be able to fight two major wars simultaneously?
But we don’t have enough missiles to eliminate or defend against a 3rd rate 2nd world country?
I put no faith in anyone’s claims about the number of missiles on hand.
It also appears that the directive has not been “win”, but “force them back to the negotiating table”, which is stupid.
I mean, it wouldn’t surprise me if Raytheon gets gobs of money for very few missiles. Heck, just think of all the US saves by not having to pay for storage for all those missiles that we probably won’t need anyway!
We buy artisanal crafted handmade weapons for billions each. Places like China, Russia, and Iran remember how we won WWII and crank out cheap stuff that works.
Evidence of recent fighting shows that the cheap stuff being put out from Russia, China, et al, doesn’t work.
What evidence? We can’t reopen the Strait of Hormuz and a bunch of our bases in the Middle East are gone.
Which bases are gone? Last I checked they were all still there.
Whether or not the straights are “closed” or “open” seems to fall to which propaganda outlet you’re listening to.
And Iran’s last attack was more wild flailing rather than actually being able to threaten anything.

That socialist rag is about as reliable as Salon.
Straight up admitting they’re getting it from Iranian propaganda. A little skepticism would be appropriate.
Nobody refutes or says it didn’t happen. They just ship bodies home in boxes and ask for an extra half-trillion in the defense budget.
Tranny?
So he left his EDC in his car. He dliberately disarmed himself before going out on recon.
Another rifle? He owned a singular rifle? And how exactly was this “cached” in his home?
When my friend PK died, the cops told his brother he had a “cache of weapons” in his house. He had a bucket of broken Swiss Army knives (he was learning to replace the rivets).
LOL
Did the brother tell the cops they needed to acquire a cache of brain cells?
By cop standards I guess what I have would be called an arsenal.
Unless you can equip five infantry companies and provide maintenance and repair services for those arms, you don’t have an arsenal.
We’re not talking reality here UCS, we’re talking cop logic.
“Tranny?”
Why would you even guess that?
Jeanine?
Jeanine the marine?
This was actually smart, except that he fucked up by keeping the magazine on him. If you’re reconnoitering a sensitive site, you shouldn’t have anything suspicious on you unless it’s critical to the mission. Especially not weapons, getting caught with a weapon instantly marks you as someone worthy of official attention. You should also try to have some plausible cover for action for when security rousts you.
‘Cache’ is a rank in the media lexicon, right below ‘arsenal’. You know you’ve got something special when they say, “…an arsenal of weapons cached in his home.”
Either way, you know I don’t consider two pistols, one rifle, some ammo, and a set of body armor a cache. That’s barely a stash, more like a minimum loadout for a prepared individual.
I’m not sure what law he actually broke that justified the arrest and searches. Trespassing, maybe? But that doesn’t justify warrants to search his car and home.
That’s actually a good question, and the article is extremely light on details – I noticed that only in the headline did it say anything about the dude being arrested.
That said, openly surveilling a sensitive site is enough for a security or police contact, the cops probably conducted a Terry frisk to see if he had any weapons on him, and the weapons plus the surveillance would have likely been enough for a search warrant on the home, even without an arrest.
The post says he had an outstanding warrant for burglary and the aforementioned rifle is an unregistered SBR. Whoopsie.
If I get the rotorooter from TSA for getting on a plane to Cleveland, then the guy casing out a location for an assassination attempt can get searched too.
The dude is probably from the future and decided to go back in time to kill Trump.
” The case overturned a New York law that required individuals to show a special need of self-protection to possess a firearm in public.”
They wouldn’t give permits to people who demonstrated that need.
They did though. The special need was “I’m such a valuable target that I have friends in government.”
Perfect
Also, four legs good, two legs better!
Everyone knows that Bob DeNiro has a long enemy’s list!
I suspect a lot of voters are going to give the finger to the Do-Nothing Party in November.
It’s like they’re actively trying to give power back to the Democrats. They want to go back to being the loyal opposition, prestige and grift without any responsibility to actually do anything.
Governing is hard.
Agreed. The only question is how many.
The Stupid Party will take it as a lesson that they need to compromise more.
Trump and the rest of the Republicans could have just kept their promises and won in a landslide. That’s it, all they had to do.
Promises are to fool the voters, not shit to be actually done.
Are there non-sexualized drag shows?
Traditionally performed Shakespeare might qualify, but he was rather raunchy…
I’ve often said that Drag Queen Story Hour would probably go over fine, or at least okay, if they dressed up like Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire and read the kiddies Beatrix Potter stories.
But the lure of performative degeneracy is just too strong to resist…
Ooooh, excellent turn of phrase!
That will be the name of my next album.

STIJLTH
Why are you eating the skewer?
I had the same reaction, but it sounds like she pulled the skewer out and a piece remained lodged inside that she didnt notice.
Still pretty sus… a former singer turned yoga instructor says eating something “damaged her vocal chords”?
Uh, those things are not exactly in the same place. And I find it implausible that getting stabbed through the esophagus and into the larynx with a wooden shard would cause the claimed scarring, yet would not require immediate medical attention and intervention.
Did she not chew and notice a piece of stick? I mean, anything is possible but I think I’d notice a piece of stick bobbing about in my teeth.
Lawsuit in U.S. court – why?
Cause Singapore would probably just cane her?
I don’t know how this story will hold up in court, I saw that a number of the other first class passengers said that the chicken satay was unbelievable.
That’s because they didn’t have the fish.
I’m ironically enjoying watching all of NYC’s (((elite))) get the logical result of what they’ve supported for decades.
Mamdani Is Shunning New York Business Leaders Who Are Used to Calling the Shots

I think I can read between those lines. 🙄
Does it say “Because Fuck you, that’s why?”
“Mary Jane Jung, of New Jersey, suddenly slumped out of her chair and allegedly went into cardiac arrest inside the Long Island school’s David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex shortly before a lunch break on July 30, 2025, during the morning session of the New York State Bar Examination, according to court papers filed in Nassau County.
The 36-year-old began “gasping for her air” on the floor, lost consciousness and started turning blue, while the exam’s proctors ordered the hundreds in the exam room to carry on with the test — delaying Jung critical “early minutes” during her alleged medical crisis, her lawsuit against the state and its Board of Law Examiners claims.
Emergency medical services were not immediately summoned. CPR was not promptly administered. AED equipment … was not deployed during the critical early minutes. “The consequences were devastating.”
Only after the exam ended were emergency responders allowed to treat Jung, according to the court filing.
Hofstra countered that its public safety officers immediately provided CPR and other life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and rushed Jung to nearby Nassau University Medical Center.”
https://nypost.com/2026/08/05/us-news/woman-collapsed-began-turning-blue-during-bar-exam-at-hofstra-university-lawsuit/
Yikes!
Two conflicting stories. I assume there were plenty of witnesses that could be interviewed to see which one is correct.
“plenty of witnesses” Many of whom just passed their bar exam and are looking for work. I wonder which side of the story has the most money?
That’s actually going to be interesting. Remember this is the NYP basically summarizing the plaintiff’s complaint.
The school is claiming aid was provided. The truth probably sits in the middle.
“The consequences were devastating.”
She dead? Crippled? Or just butthurt?
The alleged delay allowed Jung’s heart to stop pumping blood which led to a brain injury and required doctors to eventually implant a defibrillator in her chest, court papers said.
Again this is from the plaintiff. But it is indeed possible she has a permanent injury that may have been lessened by more prompt aid.
Someone must be to blame for my body’s own problem!
Of course the school claims that the aid was prompt, yet the journalismist apparently declined to ID and interview any of the many witnesses that had to be present during a bar exam.
I know that I am not the only one who thought of this scene

How much is that in hippos?
2 2/3rds
That could be as little as one large male hippo.
Adult Males: 1,500 kg – 3,200 kg (exceptionally up to 4,500 kg)
Adult Females: 1,300 kg – 2,350 kg
Let’s go 2,000 kg for calculation ease. So two hippos!
It has the same mass everywhere in the known universe, except for relativity effects, which are very small in this case.
The amount of sky is falling from DSA candidates winning primaries is interesting.
They have trash policy ideas but their platform goes nowhere Federally and probably even State wise.
We aren’t abolishing the Senate. Even Statehood for DC and Puerto Rico will hit constitutional roadblocks.
Of course, not applying laws is the biggest threat as we’ve seen with regards to immigration.
They’re sure driving Hochul hard to the left.

I heard the GOP challenger actually has a shot this year. Only a couple points down in the polls.
Curious that neither of them is running any ads.
Thats exactly what the Social Democrat party and the German Centre Party said about the Nazis in the 1920s….
Everyone forgets that these socialist movements start small, and they’re never a real threat until they are, and it’s too damn late.
PR wants independence now, thank goodness. I hope they get it before they change their minds again.
They want to emulate Haiti?
In the past PR voted against independence because they like having FedGov largess with none of the obligations. I really wish we would just cut them loose.
They also voted against Statehood for the exact same reasons.
I am really fucking alarmed that these people are winning elections and not being laughed out of the room. Say what you will about Team Red, but their voters and office holders do a pretty good job of shutting down libertarian candidates.
And clapping like seals when democrats run and win in the R primary.
“A Dallas Police sergeant is accused of taking a female officer’s phone, breaking into a locked gallery and sending himself her “intimate” photos in an “horrific breach of trust.”
Sgt. Daylon L. Grandberry was handed a 15-day suspension for committing a privacy violation against the unidentified cop “a few months ago,” according to the Dallas Police Women’s Association.”
https://nypost.com/2026/08/05/us-news/dallas-police-sgt-daylon-l-grandberry-suspended-for-sending-female-officer-intimate-photos-to-himself/
WTF?
Suspended?
I cannot imagine a private sector employer trying that. I had to fight HR to protect employees over innocent jokes that weren’t even directed at anybody. This one is nuts.
I was thinking similarly.
What private sector employee has the protection of the cop union?
15 day suspension, so harsh.
I’m pretty sure if I took one of my co-worker’s phones and sent pictures from them to my phone I would not have a job anymore.
Ya let’s see. Theft, probably an electronic hacking law somewhere in there, harassment, disorderly conduct, ethical violations….
15 days seems too harsh.
“15 day suspension is so harsh”
Actually, taking the opposite view of my prior post… we see police put innocent people in the hospital, arrest and charge them falsely, wait a year or more to dismiss the charges and then get fully cleared by their department – before losing a million dollar lawsuit. Then they usually get an award and a promotion.
So 15 days is actually pretty harsh.
Sounds like a training failure – was he ever trained to NOT do this?
Ah yes, the George Costanza defense…
The training only covered sending your nudes to other people.
Don’t take pictures of your naughty bits.
Don’t tell other people you have pictures of your naughty bits on your phone.
Sounds sus.
Yeah, I’m not sure this cop is a master hacker who could “break in” to a locked gallery on someone’s phone and then send the photos to himself. Could she have sent them and then something happened to make her accuse the guy of breaking into her phone somehow? Possible, I guess, but who knows?
Threedoor doesn’t want to see my dick?

So (((they))) do in fact control the weather!
I thought Ireland was one of the saner European countries. WTF happened.
Britain was generally anti-communist, so Ireland in general, and the IRA in particular, sided with the communist-backed terrorists in their drive to get the UK out of Northern Ireland.
Forget about it, rhywun, it’s an EU town.
Honestly, though, how often do you need to land in bad weather in Ireland?
“I wouldn’t worry about it though, [Boston]’s not a big college town” — Ian Faith, manager, Spinal Tap
On the Fed discussion – we used to talk about paid actors on TOS. It seemed pretty obvious that there were accounts that didnt even have a single voice… clearly operated by multiple people.
Then the Clinton campaign bragged about their huge call centers filled with exactly such paid actors. The press extolled their virtues, and how republicans had no such capabilities at the time.
Then we learned about the $80 million per year worth of FBI agents doing online propaganda and research for censorship orders.
We learned that NGOs spend millions doing this, here and abroad, funded by us.
And now – just like this Fauci debacle – we learn that feds have been propagandizing us in an “amazing revelation”… that nobody even bothers reacting to. Those paying attention knew for years, and those too tied to their partisan team to care… dont care. And most people just shrug.

That a car has an OS is totally fucked in the first place.
If it has a new style, it must have had an old style at some point.
YouTube thinks I need to see videos by people who buy wrecked cars from Copart and fix them up to get a cheap supercar.
They routinely run into trouble where they have to get parts programmed to the car – and they are often denied by the manufacturer. Things as simple as a headlight assembly wont work if they arent programmed to the VIN and mated to the main controller.
Just like you cant buy a $20 key fob and cut a key for $5 for it anymore (you gotta pay $350 to someone with the computer and license), you cant put used or repurposed parts on your car anymore.
I blame the government.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Tie every TEAM BLUE candidate in the country to this.
The RNC is so incompetent. They have the Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate who posts about having to leave a restaurant because there are too many white people, candidates who openly talk about replacing the senate, executive and judiciary, etc. No national clearinghouse for this stuff? Nobody doing a PAC that funds “this is the democrat party” ads that slickly tie them all to this stuff?
Hell, they haven’t even gone hard on the lock down crap. They destroyed lives. That one is a layup. It turned Musk into a Trump supporter and made him move a trillion dollars worth of companies out of California.
I can only conclude the RNC doesn’t want to win, they just want to be members of the ‘elite’ without any responsibility to actually govern, so they prefer being the minority party. Trump kind of screwed up that gig, which is partly why they hate him.
That is definitely why that hate him. The grift is apparently quite lucrative. You are just supposed to fight about surface stuff and keep the gravy train rolling. (See Biden, Joe.. McConnell, Mitch… Bush, George)
FFS, that guy in Michigan palling around with Hasan Piker thinks America deserved 9/11.

Am I a fool for wishing the court would stop with all of the fake word-parsing and just say “the constitution says no. If you dont like it, change it”
Almost every stupid thing we are doing would go away. And lots of the stuff we want to do too. But at least we could pass a limited amendment to allow them one by one, instead of declaring decisions to buy or not buy goods “interstate commerce” and thereby allowing unlimited power.
If they did that, a lot of lawyers would be out of a job.
The court is full of lawyers.
I’m seeing a problem here.

Vulnerable to Tres?
So leaving aside the gross obese short-eyes tranny…having a ‘vulnerable population’ segregation unit seems to make sense, at least when compared to throwing male cross-dressers in the female genpop.
Oh that wouldn’t have been a worry in this case, unless there were minors in the facility.
Since the vulnerability is at least in part to rape, and the rape in this case would be homosexual, doesn’t housing all the LGBTQ in the unit kind of defeat the purpose of the unit?

Seems like a domestic variation on travel insurance, which often covers evacuation services in the event of illness, natural disaster, or political upheval.
If you are affluent and close to an airport I can see it. Especially, as noted in the article, older.
Is the company perchance named Vault-Tec?
For $1,250 a year, a member is guaranteed a spot aboard an Airbus A320 aircraft to Atlanta for a maximum of two hurricanes per season.
I’d rather be in a hurricane than in Atlanta’s airport
Impressive. Truly impressive.

“WNBA star Angel Reese has been brutally trolled on social media after her claim that she couldn’t play with black dolls as a child was exposed by fans.
The backlash comes after Reese received her own Mattel Barbie doll in her Atlanta Dream uniform – wearing her No. 5 jersey – and a matching signature shoe edition.”

People were making black dolls in the U.S. since before the Civil War, never mind the dolls in “black” countries.
Drying up
The drought in Europe is so severe that it is jeopardizing countries’ economic growth and forcing them to take extreme measures like blowing up riverbeds.
Gripped by a summer of weather extremes, Romania recently shut down its sole working nuclear reactor cooled by the Danube for the first time, with Bucharest even deploying naval forces to carry out underwater detonations to improve water flow.
Trump’s fault.
It’s all the American AC heating up the atmosphere
*proudly* heating up the atmosphere…
I’m sure they were quite capable of doing that before this year.

“Many right-wing figures have become increasingly vocal in their belief that women shouldn’t only be skinny, they should also look weak. Conservatives aren’t just anti-fat anymore. Even building muscle is viewed as suspiciously feminist. Instead, women — and girls — are being told to strive to look frail instead.”

I just need a crack habit and a word processor.
CT, you don’t need to do this to yourself.
Just make shit up, slap a broadstroke against a group you don’t like, profit.
What happened to building muscle being toxic masculinity?

We really need to stop expecting clear principles
No, but we should point out to normies how these people are deranged hypocrites.
It’s cool for women to do manly things but not for men to do manly things.
“This hostility to women exercising has been accompanied by MAGA valorizing fitness as rightfully a masculine endeavor. Even members of Donald Trump’s administration, such as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, regularly post workout videos that frame exercise as men’s work, all about grunting and showing off muscles. While it’s rare they explicitly exclude women, the lack of female bodies becomes notable if you watch enough of the videos.”
if you watch enough of the videos
Watch a lot of those videos do ya Amanda? Good material to, ah, “bake the cookies” to?
A bit of the ole Hesgeth/RFK Jr. spit roast fantasy?
What a snakepit of utter derangement Salon is.
Vice and Salon should be tied together into a large burlap sack, and thrown in the ocean.
Sheldon wants to pollute worse than a Captain Planet villain.
Yeah, fair point. I wouldn’t want an innocent shark or giant squid to eat them by accident…
The headline says it all. “My article is incredibly slanted”
I knew who wrote that from the first sentence. Everything she writes is her using mind-reading on someone she doesn’t like, then writing an entire article about a premise that has zero proof.
*sigh*
Clicks, yup me too.
Well, only because Taylor Lorenz never writes for Salon.
This article starts by talking about Ariana Grande(who ) and manages to blame MAGA for people noticing she looks like a holocaust victim.
I had to tap out halfway through, so I’m sure I missed out on some other vapidness.
Truly a gifted writer and thinker, I wonder who this intellectual titan could be?
Oh yeah, it’s Amanda Marcotte.
So MAGA people have a problem with women being too skinny, and they also have a problem with women being fit and not skinny. All this in the same article.
Amanda world again?
they should also look weak.
ariana grande
I’m not going to read that crap, but Ariana Grande’s body is the epitome of weak and frail. The only commentary I’ve heard about it from right wingers (or anybody with a shred of common sense really) is that she needs to eat a sandwich. That sort of body abuse borders on/is indicative of a psychological disorder. Build some muscle, put some fat on for fucks sake.
So effectively, the exact opposite of your first premise. I don’t want her to look weak – like she currently does – I want her to look healthy and fit.
Coherent thought, Salon – ever heard of it?
And incidentally: how-ariana-grandes-body-became-political Because psychopaths like yourselves make EVERYTHING political.

Haven’t heard that name in a while.

Will the Saudi’s throw good money after bad?
Is anybody dumb enough to buy something like that with a high probability that there will be no long term product support?
Unless you’re planning to K-swap it when it goes tits up…
There’s a Fisker Ocean down the street from me.
Every time I see it I wonder WTF they’re going to do when it has a problem.
There is a fleet of them in NYC. Guy bought them for a rideshare business.
https://cleantechnica.com/2025/09/08/orphaned-oceans-the-rideshare-fiskers-of-nyc/
He’s done OK as he bought them cheap and also has the ability to service them and cannibalize units for parts.
I’ve mentioned before, my friend bought one new.
She still has it.
Do people not buy parts cars anymore?
If you could get one cheap* enough, I could see driving it until the wheels fell off, or the battery fails whichever comes first.
*It would have to be really cheap.
You can pick up low-milage Oceans for under $20k. A “One” near me w/ 25k miles for $17k. That was $69k at launch.
Could do worse for a commuter car, I guess.
Although you might be on the hook for some significant disposal costs when it finally dies.
Drop it off in Camden.
Not going to lie – the Lucid’s are quite nice. I was seriously looking last Fall then opted-out due to long-term viability.
Yep. That’s going to be a big issue with a lot of those recent carmakers not named Tesla. Slate may be one of the few that would dodge that curse, just because it is designed from the ground up as a consumer-serviced vehicle.
I see plenty of Teslas and Rivians on the road.
Ive seen one Fiscar. Never seen (or noticed a Lucid)
Here in South Florida they are rather common. But then again, McLaren isnt all that rare either. Ferrari is pedestrian. This is a very “show your wealth” area.
A kid at my kid’s (public) elementary school got dropped off and picked up in a Fisker.
The problem with Lucid is they require in-house service and charge amounts that only Bugatti would deem appropriate. They software lock everything- and will lock your car out if they deem it to need repair in-house.
Source?
This youtube car guy has the story, first hand

To be clear: this was not a town hall or a public hearing about the project. This was an event set up completely independently by the data center developer to try to endear itself to the community. And their plan to do that was to fly in a scandal-plagued former mayor of the biggest city in the country to tell folks why they should stop worrying and love the data center.
TW – https://gizmodo.com/eric-adams-goes-to-wisconsin-to-pitch-data-centers-gets-booed-2000794477
I think it’s hysterical that Adams is a corporate pitchman. And even more so that it is data centers.
What corporate moron thought this was a good idea?
Or that he was “scandal plagued”. I can’t recall anything specific, no more than usual.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/sep/26/eric-adams-bribes-turkey
He was definitely skirting the line.
Of course he was corrupt; he was a NYC Democrat. The question is whether he was any more corrupt than the rest of them.
Oh right, the Tukeyay thing. That barely registered to me for some reason.
But my suspicion is that the likes of the Guardian and Gizomodo hate him more for his politics (not radical enough).
The DOJ only investigated him after he wouldn’t play ball on ignoring immigration.
When FedGov stopped paying NYC had to pick up the tab an Adams wouldn’t play ball.
I can’t read more than two sentences on that fucking site without tapping out. Every piece is that same snotty wink-wink writing style.
Conservatives aren’t just anti-fat anymore. Even building muscle is viewed as suspiciously feminist. Instead, women — and girls — are being told to strive to look frail instead.
She interviewed the voices in her head, and that’s what they told her.
That’s really it, isn’t it? She doesn’t have to talk to anyone, she can tell what they’re thinking about.
*It would have to be really cheap.
Scrap value.
My go to price is twice what the scrap yard pays by the pound.

Principled
Hong, who is a member of DSA’s Madison branch and endorsed by a handful of other local chapters, has sought to distance herself from her previous remarks, as well as the national DSA.
“The governor cannot defund police, and I’m not here to govern by slogan,” Hong said at the Democratic Party’s only gubernatorial debate last month. She told The Hill her posts about Thanksgiving and Culver’s “could” have been made in jest.
“These are beliefs that I held when I was in different positions myself, and right now I’m in the position of running for governor,” she said, adding, “I need to be sensible, sensible and practical on what we can achieve.”
But this hasn’t stopped Republicans from seizing on her past statements as mainstream Democrats worry about Hong’s chances in November should she clinch the party’s nomination next week.
“Most of all, I believe in professing what it is politically expedient to profess to believe.”
“These are beliefs that I held when I was in different positions myself, and right now I’m in the position of running for governor,” she said, adding, “I need to be sensible, sensible and practical on what we can achieve.”
So she’s a weathervane, or hiding her true intentions once elected.

The pistol has always cracked me up.

Why? It looks like a regular revolver.
If you go to the additional media, the grip looks to be about two fingers tall.
They wanted to strike a balance. The thing is more for show than go, but it couldn’t be completely useless.
It makes sense given the population is fully disarmed – including most of the yakuza.
I just looked at a bunch of pictures. Grips look typical for compact. If I had to describe it in American, I’d say it has a K-frame and barrel, and J-frame cylinder and grip. A Chiefs Special with a better site radius.
According to every Yakuza drama I’ve seen, the Yakuza are well-armed with Katanas and Wakizashis, and they regularly have massive running sword fights with rival gangs.
It’s the lanyard that gets me.
The holster makes that seem sane.

Fastest draw in the East.
“Why the manosphere reveres the ‘Pilates girl’
The manosphere has made its way into the mainstream and onto reality TV, where men are elevating a certain type of thin White woman….
All of this isn’t to say that people — including women of all ages — shouldn’t be able to freely do Pilates without men telling them to.”
https://19thnews.org/2026/03/manosphere-reveres-pilates-girl/
Most men find a certain female body type attractive.
The horror, the horror…
I see it now. People they seen on TV and social media are an accurate representation of everyone in the country.
That and butthurt because most men find fit women to be more attractive. How dare they!
Unless you believe Amanda Marcotte.
Legacy of shame
The real crime here is that America’s story — the well-established narrative of main characters and key events that has long been at the center of the historical consensus — has been reframed, decentered, deconstructed and, as they say, “problematized” until it no longer exists in recognizable form.
This wasn’t the museum Congress authorized. Smithsonian leaders argued in 1953 that the museum should provide “a stimulating permanent exposition that commemorates our heritage of freedom.” At its opening in 1964, the museum’s director said it was intended “to awaken in citizen and foreigner alike a clear understanding of the inspiring story of the U.S., its origins, struggles, development, traditions, strength.” President Lyndon B. Johnson hoped its great artifacts would “foster patriotism.“
Today, America’s story has been replaced by a new and controversial approach defined by postmodern theories that see history as an oppressive power struggle and its exposition as a tool to foster change.
Don’t take my word for it. Director Anthea Hartig has said that the museum works “to reframe the traditional celebratory narrative of U.S. history,” that history is for her “a prime tool of social justice,” and that the institution must connect “research and scholarship to activism and advocacy.”
It would have been better if Columbus’ expedition had gone down with all hands and the plague of whiteness had never reached these shores. The world would be a better place if everyone on the Mayflower had been slaughtered as they reached the beach.
These people say that they have an absolute right to use your taxes to fund their world view, but that funding any other view, or simply not funding theirs, is an existential threat to democracy.
“to reframe the traditional celebratory narrative of U.S. history,”
A country being proud of its history? Why, that’s crazy.
My go to price is twice what the scrap yard pays by the pound.
Puts most cars in the 4-600 range.
I had never paid more than $1500 for a car until I bought the Honda Element a few years ago. At the time, I needed something more or less immediately. I bought it from a small used car lot. When We were done, I said, “I can’t believe I just paid forty two hundred bucks for an eight hundred dollar car.”
He just shrugged and said, “Don’t blame me.”
My sentiments exactly. The bottom end of used cars today is outrageous. The $500 hooptie just doesnt exist.
We used to look at 10 years old as an end of life beater. Now 20 years old still brings in a couple thousand. That is nearing “classic car” territory.
Crazy times
Obama Cash did that.
We spent a lot of time looking for a replacement for my wife’s car, used Subarus were more than new ones. So we bought a used Raptor for the same price as a decked out forester.
Your islamofascist BFF won, dude. Maybe tone down the assholery? (Not possible for that crowd, I know.)

The chair of the DNC should plug into a 230V outlet.

But he didn’t win by a landslide. That shows what a bunch of racist running dog capitalist lackeys the voters are.
That kid is good. I cant tell if he correctly identified the hole in the media landscape and cynically fills it with performance art, or he just happens to be a mentally ill partisan who fit the hole like a round peg
