Good morning one and all to another beautiful day!
That’s all I got for today. I’ll leave you with a song and move along with my day.

But the damage has not been un wound, the inquiry members imprisoned, and no personal consequences. More steps to fix this travesty are needed.
Go home, J.D. You’re drunk.
He is a little worrisome.
Populism is IN this season!
For a gay dude, you’re surprisingly out of the fashion loop.
I am pretty much the opposite of every stereotype, so yeah.
🤔
So you’re a closeted straight?
It’s a shame we lost Gilmore to keep us au courant.
Can we extend this to the entire program? And whole swathes of visa categories?
Never forget rings kind of hollow with Mayor Muslim Commie in office.
I am already seeing what is going to happen. Mayor Commie is going to spin some anodyne blather at today’s ceremony, some audience members will turn their backs on him, and he will ride his cries of “Islamophobia!” all the way to a landslide re-election.
The only threat to his reelection would be from his left.
*shudder*
Only a fool has no fear of Islam.
Thanks, Captain Obvious. This was understood by everyone before the relatively recent push for “college for all”. When job skills were earned by… working. Or training.
College for all isn’t about job training it is about running new adults through a reeducation camp to catch any that the K-12 indoctrination may have missed.
Homeschooling is as much about teaching correctly as it is u learning everything you were taught wrong.
Dumb me I chased a debt free degree from 1996-2011.
I wish I had invested all that wasted money and worked the hours I spent in class and in study.
Dumb me for paying off my student loans instead of declaring bankruptcy to get them discharged as was the style at the time since that was before the Feds decided student loans couldn’t be discharged in bankruptcy.
Wishful thinking JD. Driving to work this morning, gas is $4 a gallon and diesel is $6 – in South Carolina. That’s what the election will be about.
Doesn’t help that the Saudi pipeline that was the big “alternative” to the Strait got blown up.
https://dailycaller.com/2026/09/10/houthis-strike-saudi-aramco-east-west-oil-pipeline/
Well, the Democrats want to ban gas and diesel, and good ol’ Joe had prices that high. There is no winning on that point.
Republicans didn’t have to help them.
I’m beyond the excuses and justifications. This is the outcome they wanted.
Agreed Drake- the Repubs have really messed up by doing the Iran dance. They could have done absolutely nothing and won based on the strength of not being crazy commie democrats, but could not stop form sticking their dicks in a war guaranteed to raise the prices of gas and everything else. Doing the bidding of a foreign country is a crazy reason to torpedo your midterm chances and go against everything you allegedly stood for. All without any declaration of war of course, since I guess we’re just done with restraining executive power in that realm.
Reps are going to stick their dicks into war just as Dems are going to try to gay up the place. This has been true since I was following politics, which is quite a while now.
The real problem is that both parties seem to think this is the road to victory, while the mushy middle isn’t too sure.
“Energy prices will necessicerly skyrocket.”
They loved it when The One proposed it.
Diesel isn’t on Trump or Republicans – that’s a refinery play and the administration is doing everything possible to bring online and move toward energy independence. Gas prices are up – some areas more than others depending-on state/local taxes. Either way, long-term energy pricing will go down based-on the administration’s policies.
Not soon enough for me. My fuel oil bill for this winter is going to be almost twice what it was last winter.
‘Either way, long-term energy pricing will go down based-on the administration’s policies.’
Right now I find it hard to see, since our 12 day war or whatever it was supposed to be has now stretched to 12 months. While the US has amazing and untapped oil capacity I don’t think it is reasonable to expect that to overcome the geopolitical uncertainty in the gulf over the next two years.
Either way, long-term doesn’t matter much when the election is a few months away.
Energy and fuel is much less expensive than the 80s.
People forget inflation is a thing and commodities are traded in real dollars.
They hit the pipeline? But who could have seen that coming though? Why would the Houthis go after a critical target that stretches for hundreds of miles, is impossible to effectively defend, and is easily blown to shit?
It’s best to 100% decouple from the sand people.
Why would the Houthis go after a critical target that stretches for hundreds of miles, is impossible to effectively defend, and is easily blown to shit?
Duh. Because they hate us for our freedoms.
That and “religion of peace”… the two biggest whoppers of the 21st century. Nothing since has come close.
Nothing since has come close.
I don’t know, “Safe and Effective!”, “My mask protects you, your mask protects me”, and “Two weeks to flatten the curve” deserve some consideration.
Fair enough. The plague years were also a goldmine of derp.
I know it’s not as big, but when the terrorist shot up the gay nightclub in Florida, explicitly saying it was in revenge for Syrians America had killed, I was flabbergasted when Obama and Clinton both said it was due to homophobia and all the corporate media ran with it.
I detect the odor of the Deep State.
Oh, fuck off. What a shame. Explain to me again why the United States is responsible for gaying up cultural shitholes around the world? If Russia, Russia, Russia wants to play footsie with Qatar, let them. I don’t give a fuck.
“40 percent of the organizations surveyed describe themselves as being at severe or immediate risk of closure…”
Without this grift, we’ll have find a different grift.
“We’ve gotta protect our phony baloney jobs!”
+ Harrumph!
I didn’t get a ‘harrumph’ outta that guy!
That article contains a long list of “Why the fuck are taxpayers paying for this.”
I remember an Obama administration add for a consulate position in Libya.
Gays only need apply.
25 years since things seemed normal. I was in Newark, NJ for training on some corporate system that day.
The song that’s in my head today.

I was driving back to work after a vasectomy follow up. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing on the radio.
I was in Skagway for work. It was surreal being in literally the safest spot on the planet while the world was going mad.
Sleeping.
I’d moved the day before into my mom’s rental trailer. I woke to her banging on the bedroom window and went to her place to watch TV.
I had a 9am class where they dropped the screen and played CNN. Of course it was CNN.
I almost went down and enlisted that day as I remembered the 1994 attack and knew exactly who had done it. Took me three more years to give do the right thing. Which id gone combat arms.
Careful with those wishes. Filled out my VA disability application last week.
Worst thing that happened to me downrange was they changed the Baskin Robbins ice cream out for some no name brand shit.
All my injuries are from training and being ran over by another solider who got off Scott free.
My time in did make me hate the government and its insane wastefulness even more at least.
Rather than a 5K bonus how about anyone that has an income tax liability up to 5 K just be for given/forgotten.
IOW change the tax law to allow a deduction off tax liability as opposed to an income deduction. End result is the same.
So long as it’s a nonrefundable credit. No paying people who didn’t pay in. If your total tax liability is only $2,000, you don’t get paid the additional $3k that never came out of your pocket.
Exactly. You paid nothing, you get nothing
I like this, but it is too early for me to have constructive (or snarky) thoughts about it.
Or, and I know this is crazy, maybe we stop fucking coming up with new spending ideas until we are no longer in debt, and instead stop spending money we don’t have on projects the Federal Government doesn’t have the authority to pursue?
That’s the type of crazy talk that got Massie tossed out in his totally organic primary.
I know I keep banging this drum, but when the dollar finally runs out of road due to the lunatic spending in Washington, which at this point is essentially completely unopposed with nobody who matters* trying to rein it in, the resulting economic and social collapse is going to make just about everything we get all worked up about today seem like pretty trivial shit.
*Yes, yes, I know you can point at one or two Congressers who make mouth noises about deficit bad. Don’t care. They don’t matter.
Ayup. Unfortunately deficit hawks have been mostly incorrect in predicting doom too soon and the results have been too delicious for the politicians and their cronies, so the music keeps playing. There are some movements in the markets that make me wonder though, seems we are now paying a premium on the debt which is the first step towards collapse of this system.
Whatever comes when we cannot pay the debt, or we are actually forced to reconcile with the fiscal malfeasance of the last 60 years will be pretty bad. If you think the socialists are getting worryingly influential now, just wait for living standards to actually decrease.
Yep. That’s what I mean when I say, ‘Culture is downstream of economics.’
No fuckin’ lie. Let people keep as much of their money as possible, reduce government responsibilities to only explicitly granted Constitutional requirements and stop spending money we don’t have.
This is the way to prosperity and stability. Yes, there would be short term pain as all the non-viable, government funded slop dried up; but it’s really the possible path to long term success. Of course, it won’t happen because as Dean says, no one outside of a few cranks is even paying lip service to fiscal responsibility so might as well try and get yours while you can.
R C Dean:
The real question is what’s going to replace the USD. Will GrokCoin be the new ComStar bill? Will it be a backed currency? Will it be another fiat? Will it be private?
It will be Grokcoin for those of us like myself that will be on the Mars colony.
Attention Valued Cutomer [Customer] – It has come to the attention of the Air Board that you are in arrears on your payments for breathable atmosphere. If you are not paid in full within 86,400 standard seconds, your services will be deactivated. To prevent contamination of atmosphere provided to paying customers, all ventillations linkages and connecting passages will be sealed until payment has been received. If you believe you have been issued this notice in error, send your appeal to icantbreathe at airpowerwater.mars and allow six to eight weeks for review.
At this point, there’s no question the dollar will be wrecked, only when. So I would say the other real question is, yeah, what’s going to replace it.
I have no clue.
So I would say the other real question is, yeah, what’s going to replace it.
Krugerrands. KRUGERRANDS!
“fiscal malfeasance of the last 60 years”
113 years.
I want the same for those of us that don’t use the government schools or libraries.
Mornin’ all. Slightly delayed update on my cardio ablation procedure. Short form: supposed to be in & out on Tuesday. Woke up/came out of anesthesia Wednesday morning with a face hovering over me saying “you’re in the ICU. There’s a hole in your heart. You’re okay.” Um, what?
Yeah, the surgeon burned through my last nerve, so to speak, and perforated the heart. Fast reactions by the surgical team got a drain installed and averted potentially major surgery or disastrous outcomes.
Fortunately, I knew my youngest brother had the same problem in his ablation, so the news wasn’t as shocking as it might have been.
Day and a half in cardio ICU and half a day in a ‘regular’ room and I was home by about 1:30 yesterday. I got a good night’s sleep in my own bed, showered and have had breakfast; feeling pretty okay.
I’m very impressed with the care I received, everyone at the hospital was great, without exception.
Not the week I expected, but could have been much worse!
Everyone but the surgeon who perforated your heart?
Relevant music: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a3kpk5u6yMU
I was expecting this: https://youtu.be/I-h4A7bF8wQ?si=uGmo1Ss6anw41nq0
I’m very happy that I was able to see it performed live a few weeks ago.
No, I include the surgeon. It was his fast action and leadership of the surgical team that kept this from being a disaster. He’s young, new, very personable, and is building a good reputation with the staff.
I was going with this: https://youtu.be/notKtAgfwDA?t=47

I’m happy you’re through with that, Beau.
Seriously, get well soon!
The sound of that make me go “Yikes”
I presume since they sent you home you’re expected to be on the mend.
Yikes! Glad to hear you are still with us.
Ouch, congratulations for making it out of there!
I, too, will add my “yikes!”
Glad the prognosis is good, speedy healing.
You’re a Harkonnen now?
Hmmmm. Could be, but not quite slimy or evil enough lol
😳
Those two statements seem… contradictory.
Very glad you’re home and “feeling pretty okay”!

For BK.
[ Kevin dolefully shakes head ]
Yeah 😉 but there was already a scab forming (per the mri). The surgeon decided against a replacement drain when he removed the first one.
I’d have been much more concerned if youngest brother hadn’t had the same issue, with no subsequent problems.
Still, it would have been nice to avoid this ;-\
And to be fair, I was just coming out of anesthesia to the point I could comprehend and sorta-kinda remember. I’m confident of the first 4 words, the next 2 sentences are fuzzy.
Propofol is weird; I was chatting with the nurses after I was ‘under’ and being prepped, but remember nothing. Same nude was in the ICU with me Wednesday evening and we chatted about it.
Is that one of those “Cadillac plans” I’ve heard of?
“Same nude was in the ICU with me Wednesday evening and we chatted about it.”
…Go on…
Don’t you people remember the rule – it’s never the people you want to see in such a state.
Geez. A typo for the ages I guess ;-\
Nurse, dammit, nurse!
A nude anybody would have been disconcerting and unwelcome. A nude female would also have been wasted on me.
What ablation technique were they using? Burning, cryo or pulsed field?
I honestly don’t know, but I’ll find out when I have my follow-up in 2 weeks. I doubt it was cryo, I’d guess burning, but may have been pulsedfield.
Adjacent: They used pulse on my uterus.
Oh my!
Yikes, but glad you’re OK!
Same.
Thanks all for the kind words and well wishes!
Prognosis is good, recovery is moving right along. I’m about as satisfied as possible given the circumstances 😉
Damn and huzzah! That is a rollercoaster.
Best wishes. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
I hope you heal quickly.
Damn.
I’m glad you woke up.
That’s terrifying.
Hoping your recovery goes well.

I’m not sure I was even aware of it before my wife started working at the school, but tonight is the Red Bandana Game at BC. If we weren’t flying out this evening we’d be there but at least we’ll be able to watch since it’s on ESPN.
Every time I watch this I am overcome by dust:

For Welles. A genuine hero.
I’d never seen this. Good one.
It’s one of the best 14-ish minutes ESPN has produced, IMO.
FUCK Islam.
Minnesota nice.
I swear this isn’t the first beatdown at a State Fair I’ve heard of this summer. WTF is going on out there?
Damn Amish kids
Yeah, I am street smart enough to try to stay far away from any large concentration of Amish kids.
Those darn teens beat up a middle aged black man. I blame the KKK.
TBF, he was a race traitor: “Sammy Kimbrough with his fianceé Heather Hoffman”
Yeah, there was a mob of feral urban youths doing feral urban youth things at the Wisconsin state fair.
*crosses “Midwest” off my vacation plans*
They shot people at the Seattle food fest this summer. Of course, they gangs were referred to as “a dispute between small groups”.
And they didn’t release pics of the perps that they didn’t catch at the scene because, racism.
Wow, 25 years. Things have changed. At the time we were in our first house, two of our kids had been born but we hadn’t met them yet, and I was still driving my green Jeep (I loved that vehicle).
I don’t have a very compelling story, I just remember being glued to the TV and thinking “what next”. The morning was a flurry of information, most of it false. Eventually I drove to our church (which has since closed). The door was open and I was the only one there. I alternated praying and going to the Jeep to listen to the news. I realize now that I was praying for the wrong things.
9/11 was very much like COVID. In both cases you had people making sweeping plans for society behind the scenes for years, and they were licking their chops when they finally got the “emergency” they were waiting for. It was breathtaking how fast those plans were put into play, and how many people just went right along.
I also hadn’t met any of my teammates. A lot of them still had their legs.
Oof
‘9/11 was very much like COVID. I was too young to understand this portion of things- that people behind the scenes were salivating over a chance to get their agenda in. I thought it was a real organic overreaction to a tragedy.
I was listening to a history podcast about the later roman republic (focusing mostly on Sulla and Marius) and I started seeing why people make US/Rome comparisons. The podcasters had no qualms about imputing all sorts of behind the scenes motives for various wars, and inciting events. I think the COVID lockdowns made me realize how locked and loaded the government is to execute plans that are authoritarian in nature and further the interests of their masters.
When I say “people went along”, I can include myself. At the time I thought Bush did a great job, and I trusted that the government’s reaction was justified. I thought Ron Paul was some crazy crank who didn’t understand anything. (Ok that might still be true).
n both cases you had people making sweeping plans for society behind the scenes for years, and they were licking their chops when they finally got the “emergency” they were waiting for.
My recollection of the Patriot Act was that it included everything the intelligence community had been wanting for years but until the Patriot Act, Congress had shot it all down.
I remember Glenn Beck railing against it and I thought he was overreacting.
Christ, I was naive back then.
‘When I say “people went along”, I can include myself. At the time I thought Bush did a great job, and I trusted that the government’s reaction was justified.’
Hm, I don’t think I ever approved of it. I only found libertarianism 4 years later but I had very strong instincts for liberty.
I was not happy about the Patriot act or the creation of the TSA.
I lt was more of a gut feeling than anything logical. I saw it as government overreach and growth but didn’t quite grasp the implications.
The more hindsight grows, the more I believe our government was involved, even if only by inaction (see: Pearl Harbor).
The terrorists won as soon as TSA got rolled out.
And you know the stupidest reason I’m pissy about the TSA? It’s because our asshole cloverleaf Brutalist airport was a breeze to get in and out of. Everybody hated it except people who got out on the curb, grabbed their luggage and walked 30 feet to their plane. My boss could leave the office at 10 minutes before the flight and be on the plane. It was designed expressly for ease of boarding and was completely wrecked by the need for TSA.
When I was stationed in KC, I had the same thoughts about that airport.
It must have been real nice before “everything changed”.
I’ll bet the resturaunts and bars in there missed out on tons of money from that. in
Then it got replaced for no good reason at the cost of hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ dollars.
Just like Arrowhead and Kaufman will soon be replaced for no good reason at the cost of hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ dollars.
I told my wife America was basically playing “I’m not touching you” with Japan and then acted surprised when Japan struck.
“But I wasn’t touching you, why are you so mad?”
The more hindsight grows, the more I believe our government was involved
That was the bulk of Tucker Carlson’s five part series on Sept. 11th. There’s a lot of talk of two wings of the CIA: one that wanted to get bin Laden before the Sept. 11th attacks and one that killed those attempts.
I’m still on the ‘cock-up over conspiracy’ wagon. A massive, massive cock-up.
I still don’t know where I am.
What I do suspect is the stories they have been telling for 25 years are lies. Every other “conspiracy theory” is turning out to be correct, why not any surrounding this event?
I don’t have any doubt it was AQ terrorists who crashed the planes into the towers (and the Pentagon, and the field in PA). The whole “controlled demolition” thing is just too absurd. The “Jet fuel can’t melt steel” thing is just too stupid.
Now, did we have a pretty good idea it was coming, and Certain People decided they needed a good crisis for their agenda to advance? Yeah, that I’m willing to believe.
ugh Forgot about those. No I don’t believe any of that.
I had the “we knew it was coming” theory in mind.
I am so mad about Arrowhead for many reasons. HOWEVER, whatever blocked them from developing Raytown North into a decent tourist destination surrounding the sports complex for 50 fucking years, they deserve the loss. I’m really more mad about that.
I was at the Powerhouse on the West Bank (of the Flats) pitching consulting work (I was with a small start up) to a company that had offices there. I was on my way back in after a smoke, and everyone had gathered around the big screen television in the [closed, they were doing prep work and turned on the tv and opened the door for others to watch] brewery. We got flagged over, and saw the second plane hit.
Getting back home across town took me four times as long due to road closures, blockages, and patrols.
Evil lays in wait for the timing to be right.
Hilarious – the holdout juror in the Clancy triple murder case is a black man.
How are the wokesters going to handle that?

Hilarious.
I appreciate the updated image

Nice.
Oh that’s good.
Hoo boy
🤯
He’s not really black?
That’s what Biden said.
He’s bigoted against people with disabilities!
How was this not known until now? Weren’t there cameras capturing the arrival of the jurors and hadn’t the acquiescing males gone on camera?
Black Erasure strikes again!
They just need a little respect.
Black Vince Clarke hardest hit.
I knew he was going to get doxxed. There was a drawing circulating of a white juror who was supposedly the holdout. I’m not surprised one of the AWFLs cucks who have been giving interviews “accidentally” let it slip that it was the black guy.
They want him dead for depriving them of their opportunity to . . . I’m not sure what, but they sure seem pissed about it.
I don’t understand why in a case where the Jurors were being doxed and photos of them taken that the Judge didn’t take the precaution to issue a gag order on the jury to prevent them doing this very thing. Seems like the least a judge needs to do to preserve the independence of the Jury from public and political pressure.
‘They want him dead for depriving them of their opportunity to . . . I’m not sure what, but they sure seem pissed about it.’
They want Clancy to get the help she needs… because they see themselves in her, as disgusting as that is.
They blame what she did on The Patriarchy.
They want him dead.
Just like the clumps of cells Lindsy eliminated.
Same way they handle Clarence Thomas.
He knew where the white women were at. – Sherriff Bart
I was standing in front of my office on Broadway smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee before heading upstairs, watching the fire in Tower 1. Then I saw Tower 2 get hit and realized I wan’t going into the office after all.
oops Brooks’ed
I was burning off some vacation time and working in the garage when my wife called my cell phone. She told me to go inside and turn on the TV. I asked why, and she just said go do it.
I got the TV turned on just in time to see the second tower fall in real time.
My immediate thought was that America — The Land of the Free — just died, and we weren’t going to like what replaced it.
I was burning off some vacation time and working in the garage when my wife called my cell phone. She told me to go inside and turn on the TV. I asked why, and she just said go do it.
Very much the same with me. I was working part time, and that day I was doing work for my fledgling business when my wife called. I though it was going to be something funny, and she just said, “Turn on the TV”.
I was walking to work. A coworker of mine saw me, picked me up, and the first thing he told me was a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers.
Work was kinda quiet. I was scrambling to wrap up some stuff because I was supposed to start vacation on either the 12th or the 13th. I can no longer remember what day I was supposed to start vacation. I was going to fly. I cancelled the trip when it became clear the government was going to keep airspace closed for a while but took the time off anyways.
I got a real sinking feeling when I saw the rush to “do something”. I was OK with invading Afghanistan since bin Laden was hiding out there, but the rest made me think, “the terrorists won.”
Learn to wipe asses.
I was in MN sleeping off a hangover before we were supposed to catch a flight back to TX. My wife woke me and said to watch the TV, a plane has just flown into the World Trade Center. Right as I got up to see what was going on ,the 2nd plane hit. I looked at her and said we weren’t going to be flying that day. Enterprise ended up letting us keep our rental and drive it back to TX. It was a strange trip back home as the roads were very sparsely populated. In Kansas coming into Emporia, we got stopped by a cop who was clearly pulling over every car that went by. He was just finishing with a Taurus when I passed and he ran back to his car and came and stopped me for “not maintaining my blinker fully through a lane change” as I moved to the left lane to give him wide berth (this was before the move over/slow down movement kids). He looked at the occupants of the car, which consisted of Wife, 1 year old child & me and ran back to his car to stop the next car that had just passed us. The rest of the trip was incident free with the exception I didn’t have satellite radio at the time and was getting gottdammed sick and tired of Lee Greenwood on the radio.
I had decided to take a day off from work. I turned on the radio. The DJs were uncharacteristically solemn but weren’t saying why. I immediately turned on the TV and just stood there watching.
I was in the lunch room for a study hall or something when the SHTF, the teachers wheeled in some TVs for us to watch the coverage until it got too gruesome and they sent us back to classes. I had just started high school and didn’t get the big deal about what was going on yet. Lots of my older friends ended up joining the military in the coming years.
9/11 was very much like COVID. In both cases you had people making sweeping plans for society behind the scenes for years, and they were licking their chops when they finally got the “emergency” they were waiting for. It was breathtaking how fast those plans were put into play, and how many people just went right along.
Silly me. I thought America was tougher than that.
So did I, once upon a time.
“was” not “is”
Once the 17th amendment got passed they were able to fundamentally change everything.
It only accelerated from there.
Ironing my blouse and getting ready to head into the armory during the last week of my makeup annual training. 1.5year left in the guard and was halfway to checking out. Saw the news on the first impact, shower and shave, and came back to the second.
Stop loss sucka!
Ex-Im Bank needs reauthorizarion this year. Anyone want to take odds that it gets taken care of quickly unlike in 2015 when it was several months before the bureaucrat state got their toy back?
I was a lowly machine operator at the time. I listened to reports as they came in on the radio, but kept working. Didn’t see anything until I got home that day and watched the news after.
I was in working in the lab, doing a chloride titration, listening to the radio. I figured the first one was an accident. After the second one, I called up the recruiter to see if I was too old to become an officer. But there was no way I was going to volunteer unless there was an actual declaration of war — the VN legend had drilled that into me. I remember the media speculating that it was some antigovernment right-winger attacking.
The next day, Pacifica Radio celebrated the events of the previous day, and my habit of listening to stupid commies for entertainment abruptly ceased.
I remember hearing one group argue on the afternoon or evening of 9/11 that perhaps it might be revenge for the US offing Salvador Allende on September 11, 1973, and another group talk about colonialism and the treatment of African countries.
I was getting ready to walk to work, listen to Howard Stern (before he became everything he mocked) and they broke in with “a plane has crashed into the World Trade Center, the World Trade Center is on fire”.
I just turned on the TV and stayed glued to it for hours.
Current day Stern is an utterly different person than this one: https://archive.org/details/howard-sterns-sept-11th-broadcast-with-paired-footage
One thing I still remember vividly – the next day none of our German co-workers so much as mentioned it. WTF, people?
I listened to that Stern broadcast some days later (the shows were torrented every day in case we missed one) – it was riveting.
I heard he’s down to one day a week of new content now. And of course, signed another fat contract.
WXRT in Chicago got an award for their broadcast that day. They stopped playing music and just took calls from listeners.
On 9/10/01, I flew to SLC via ORD for a job I was working on. Planned to stay in UT for 2 weeks setting up a pilot water treatment unit. I was sitting on the left side of the airplane in a window seat and I remember clearly as we approached ORD from the East over Lake Michigan, I looked to the south toward the city center, particularly at the Sears Tower. I thought to myself that if the wrong person were flying the airplane, it would be too easy to make a detour and fly straight into the Tower.
The next morning, I was in my hotel room, just having taken a shower and about to leave for work, and I got a call from my boss. He told me urgently to turn on the TV and don’t bother going in to the plant. The people back at the office in PA were all huddled around a tiny TV that one of the VPs had in his office. I turned my TV on to CNN and the first tower had been hit, and I saw the second strike. I remember, as the fire continued, that I predicted the towers were not going to stand. As the first one began to fail, I was watching it and the commentators had no idea, but I could see the one side begin to slump ever so slightly, and then the whole thing went.
Later that day, I did end up going in to the pilot site. No one there really had processed what was going on. As the week stretched on, and it was clear I was going to need to come home early, but couldn’t fly, I realized that all the people I was interacting with in UT had a very remote concept of what was going on. I don’t know if it was that everyone was stunned, or that perhaps the Mormons are particularly reserved, but there were few to no expressions of anger, rage, desire for revenge, etc. Just an acceptance, and a feeling that New York City was a long way away from Salt Lake City.
I’m in northern Idaho.
The stuff that happens on the east coast culturally could happen in Europe as far as those of us in the NW are concerned. NYC to DC is as foreign to us as Berlin is.

Important information.
Doesn’t she sell underwear? Does this mean it’s uncomfortable?
Underware that’s sold to be taken off.

Why is that so accurate?
They could just cross-post every story on not-the-bee these days.
NPR:
On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a divided U.S. gathers to remember and grieve
I’ll grieve for the America of my childhood.
“In no small part thanks to the leftist propaganda we have been printing for decades. You’re welcome, America.”
“They tried to unite the country under their control but you people resisted.”
As bad as the post Sept 11 government changes were it didn’t feel like it had gotten bad until Obama and the ACH/Stimulus.
All that really accelerated the financial BS that raised costs noticeably.
“Devlin told King the jurors were between the ages of 22 and 70. They were all white, except for one, and many of them had children.
But the TV personality was particularly interested in the racial demographics. ‘One person of color. Was the person of color a woman or a man?’ King asked.
Devlin replied: ‘A man.’ King repeated her response, ‘a man,’ once more before asking, ‘Was the holdout juror a black man?’
‘Yes,’ Devlin said. Seemingly surprised by the answer, King doubled down on her question: ‘A black man is the holdout juror?’
‘Yes,’ the juror said again. King gasped, then looked down, before saying in a softspoken voice: ‘Woah. I have to sit with that for just a second.'”

It’s retards all the way down.
It’s like how they can’t process when the Pope, no matter how commie he is, isn’t pro-abortion.
Not Adahn:
And how dare the Pope not support gay marriage!
“Data centers are all the rage in the 2026 midterm election cycle. Whether a candidate currently supports or has previously supported data centers and corporate subsidies for AI and tech companies has quickly become a potent attack line in several high-profile races across the country.”
https://dailycaller.com/2026/09/10/data-centers-top-issue-midterms-elections-ad-spending-which-states-flip-flop-change/
CCP propaganda
“supported data centers and corporate subsidies…”
Two very different things.
I always love how they conflate tax breaks and actual subsidies then call it all subsidies.
Yet they will howl if you suggest eliminating SALT deductions.
Data centers are the new Jews.
You mean if I vote Rogers I’m going to get upgraded to have a back yard? And a Free Datacenter?
🥳
wait… I don’t live in Michigan, and I’m not fond of felonies.
Well, that 90min meeting with whomever that was was 75 min or so. Mostly just financial stuff and, I learned, I like need an ‘ABLE Account’ (acronym?) cuz Mediaid doesn’t let you keep more than $2,000, and the ABLE thing is a place you can squirrel money into and they can’t touch it, so she said.
She just wanted to know about my plan and my last jobs and how much I made. I’m, uh, not really sure what the point of that meeting was. She was just taking notes, so I’m quite sure it goes onward from here after she talks to my Vocational Rehab folk. The goal is to set up that MEDWorks thing, where I can make more money and still remain on Medicaid cuz of my “Medically Frail” status.
Even if it benefits me, it’s hard to think of a worse ‘polite’ way of categorizing people than ‘Medically Frail.’ Uh, thanks? I can up-sell “fragile” pretty easily. “Frail?” Uh, nope. That’s shitty no matter what. *shrug* I learned something that can help keep the Govt’s Tax Men away from my shit. That’s rather nice, I s’pose. *shrug*
Kinda need the drug test folk to get back in touch so I can explain my “Amphetamine salts” I take (prescribed!!) every day.
I’m in touch to speak with the former Exec. Dir. of the Indiana Libertarian Party later today, hopefully to stay in the loop and perhaps join a local org to have a social connection with them. Knowing people helps. (See also: Me. I really don’t know anyone in America.) Last weekend before new work begins! This will be interesting. –> (Good tip: Be interested in, or find interest in, pretty much everything. Things are much less ‘boring,’ that way. For example, UCS’ glove set. Fascinating. *prepares hijinks* Oh. He’s coming here next week. *sprinkles Forgetful Dust over this comment*)

Pronounce fragile as if you were mocking the French.
It makes it sound much more esteemed.
The Lark Ascending is the most beautiful piece of music ever written, and Hilary Hahn’s version is great. A fitting choice.
“A Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her two young children inside their home before fleeing to Vermont asked a judge to release her from custody and throw out the case.
Janette MacAusland, 49, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the April deaths of her 7-year-old son, Kai, and 6-year-old daughter, Ella.”

WTF, Massachusetts ?
Krowski, she is charged with murder not mental illness.
Let the pink shirt brigade catch their breath from the months of supporting the last murderess before they pivot to this one.
Let the pink shirt brigade catch their breath from the months of supporting the last murderess before they pivot to this one.
They have limited resources. I blame USAID cuts.
We really are in The Crazy Years.
Managed to have two kids after forty which is a near merical and then murders them.
Skin her alive in the public square.
I was at work when a coworker arrived and asked if I had seen anything online about a plane hitting the WTC. I said no, what happened? My first thought was that a small private plane ran into one of towers. I continued working away. A few minutes later he stuck his head into my office and said there is something big going in NYC and to check out the news online. I pulled up a live feed on my computer and saw the tower smoking and was like holy shit, WTF is going on? It wasn’t five minutes later when the second plane hit. We were all dumbstruck watching it unfold. Later on in the lunch room a big crowd had gathered watching events unfold on the TV when the first tower collapsed. The entire room gasped at one time – it was surreal.
I was still walking home by then and only heard some of what was happening from various cops I walked past, somewhere in Midtown before I had reached the Queensboro Bridge.

Wait until they get to that juror.
Once again god bless the “reader context” calling out the lies.
I wonder how that Federal court managed to find standing to rule on the Trump postal rules on ballots.
They sure did have certainty that they didnt have standing to rule on blatantly illegal changes before the 2020 elections.
“Winfrey’s guests included Dr. Kameelah Phillips, an OB-GYN, who discussed concerns over postpartum psychosis based on how little is known about it. Phillips also encouraged the audience to have compassion not just for Clancy but for “women of color.”
“I want us to have the same passion for people who don’t look like Lindsay, who don’t have her same access,” Phillips said.
After the audience clapped at her response, Phillips continued, “Who don’t have her same access and education, her melanin, her privilege. There are women of color sitting around this country in prisons for this same thing that we’ve never heard of. And I just want to remind us to have the pink shirts and the energy for them as well.””

OFFS!!!!
As I said, it’s retards all the way down.
Sooooo much of the country is irretrievably broken. It is necessary to be reminded of that every once in a while.
Hive of scum and villainy
Oddly enough, all parties hail from my university, UC Berkeley. The measure’s chief intellectual architects include Emmanuel Saez, a preeminent scholar on wealth inequality, taxation, and retirement who has taught at Berkeley since 2002. He’s joined by Professor Brian Galle of the UC Berkeley School of Law, who, along with David Gamage and UC Davis professor Darien Shanske, authored the measure. Together, they form the brain trust behind what Saez describes as “the first time, anywhere in the world, there’s going to be a direct vote on whether people want to increase taxes on the ultrarich.”
——-
Professor Saez collaborated with his Berkeley colleague Gabriel Zucman on The Triumph of Injustice, a 2019 book detailing the demise of progressive taxation in the United States. The professors found that billionaires have long been paying lower effective tax rates than middle-class workers.
After stumbling upon a New York Times article about Saez’s work, SEIU United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) approached him with an idea: a wealth tax that could fund state programs such as Medicaid for California. The union had been suffering under Trump’s funding cuts to the healthcare system. “They wanted to find a way to raise revenue in a progressive way,” said Saez. Thus was born Proposition 40, a measure whose fate for approval or rejection is now in the hands of California’s voters.
They want justice.
“scholar on wealth inequality”
You don’t need a degree to become a communist but it doesn’t hurt.
Burn down the colleges.
The professors found that billionaires have long been paying lower effective tax rates than middle-class workers.
People who can afford accountants and tax lawyers pay less than people who can’t? Preposterous!
People whose wealth isn’t in the form of a W2 income don’t have the same tax situation as people who depend entirely on a W2 income? say it aint so
The millions and billions they already pay in taxes are not milliony and billiony enough.
Fuck off, commies.
On 9/11 I was shooting a panel of rubber sealent for testing. I was on an AFB.
We were told that two planes had hit the towers.
I went to the composite shop break room to santd and see a little bitty tv (with antenna) that had live coverage.
Went into office and listening to NPR on my radio.
Internet was not working with the exceptoin of the bbc.
Then im listeing live to the pentagon get hit.
Base went nuts.
The next day it took 7 hours to get onto base and get to work. Over the days and weeks we did some truly stupid and crazy things at work.
Here’s a zero stakes question.
You have a lively debate on, say, this site. It’s a multifacetted issue, but largely coalesces around two significant regions of opinion. Someone posts a fact in support of the general region of opinion you fall into but on a facet you are not specifically arguing. That fact however has issues in that it is only partially correct.
How hard is it to suppress your pedantry in order to not undermine your side of an internet argument of no stakes?
“How hard is it to suppress your pedantry in order to not undermine your side of an internet argument of no stakes?”
I’ve gotten much, much better about not getting side-tracked by pedantry as I get older.
You have to distill the argument to its core concern and speak ONLY to that. Everything else is noise and a distraction.
The other side of that is to not allow your interlocutor to side-track you with statements that don’t address the core concern OR to reframe the issue.
If there’s a bottleneck, it’s probably a definition issue.
I was driving from Madison to Milwaukee, listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio, when the first plane hit. I thought it must have been a small passenger plane/accident, and then the second plane hit.
When he said the towers had fallen, I assumed they had fallen sideways, not collapsed into their own footprints, and I remember thinking “there must be tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands dead. I got to our Milwaukee office and they sent me straight back as they were closing for the day.
I didn’t see any video until I got home that evening.
Those towers were ugly. Knocking them down was a huge improvement.
I know I had long thought so. It was only after five to ten years of shitshow over the “Freedom Tower” 🙄 that I firmly changed my mind to wishing they had just rebuilt the fucking things in place instead of what we eventually got.
The plaza below them was especially ugly but dammit they were uniquely NYC. The boring shit that’s there now could be in Anytown.
Glaziers made out well.
I had flown from Minneapolis, where I had just bought a house, to Portland, OR, where a bunch of my stuff was. The plan was to arrange movers, visit friends, and fly back to Minnesota. I was on the internet early, saw pics of the first tower in flames. Then video of the second plane hitting tower 2. Wound up renting a U-Haul truck,, loading it with the important stuff, and driving back.
I knew we were doomed when “The Department of Homeland Security” was formed.
The terrorists won.
Change is terror
Each year on the anniversary of Sept. 11, politicians of various stripes join victims’ families for a commemoration ceremony in downtown Manhattan, putting aside partisan beef and pledging to “never forget.”
This year is different.
President Donald Trump is skipping Friday’s 25th anniversary ceremony at ground zero, reportedly because he wasn’t given an opportunity to deliver remarks. Vice President JD Vance plans to attend instead — and stoked outrage last week by suggesting he’d use the occasion to ridicule former President Joe Biden, who’ll also attend despite his battle with cancer.
Meanwhile, Republicans and the relatives of some victims have demanded Mayor Zohran Mamdani stay away, with GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman encouraging 9/11 families to turn their backs on him during the ceremony.
Why can’t we have our precious moment frozen in time? How dare people not make our victimhood the center of their universe?
NEVER FORGET. NEVER CHANGE.
The plaza below them was especially ugly but dammit they were uniquely NYC. The boring shit that’s there now could be in Anytown.
The World’s Biggest Urinal is a fitting monument.
Reported by who?
I’ve only heard this from the clowns that hate Trump no matter what.
Another question:
Denied by who? When the President is going to show up for an event, who exactly is going to tell him “I guess we can’t stop you from coming, but you don’t get to say anything while you’re here.”?
It seems appropriate to me that he be at the Pentagon observance, being CiC and all. And he’d be criticized for going to both even if it were physically possible.
“A lot of people in this country and in this city have lost sight and lost focus of what is important. The day of 9/11 is a day to remember those we lost to senseless violence, and it’s a day when we put away our ideologies and unite as one,” said John Feal, an Army veteran and advocate for 9/11 survivors who did recovery work at ground zero. “The day is sacred, and it’s really disappointing, almost disturbing, that we can so easily be distracted by politics.”
Fuck you and your festival of victimhood.
“Army veteran and advocate”
Wanna bet his VA disability rating is pushing 80% and his advocacy grift pays over six figures.
Yep.
Grifting asshole.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Feal
They claim their board is not compensated.
Yeah bullshit.
who exactly is going to tell him “I guess we can’t stop you from coming, but you don’t get to say anything while you’re here.”?
The Victims’ Guild, of course. You wouldn’t want Mad King Donald to wreck the rapt solemnity of the moment with some sort of crude rhetorical distraction.
Mr New York himself is not wanted there.
Go to that field in Pennsylvania and throw a giant party for the people who actually did something about it.
