Labor Day Weekend turned into a whirl of activity, as my time off always does. Seems easier to just stay at work. It’s more relaxing. I am still playing catch up, but thankfully I have a deep list of requests to choose from for GlibFlicks!
Tonight’s film comes courtesy of the fine suggestions of Common Tater. This is a 1980’s horror classic, based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.
So what is it about? We turn to the well-written review of the mysteriously-named KSF-2 tonight:
Based on a Lovecraft story, this shows the danger of seeing and knowing too much. Campy horror director Stuart Gordon has Jeff Combs working on a machine (the Resonator !) that can help us to “see” other dimensions. When they turn on the machine, it brings monsters into this dimension. when the Doctor Pretorious is killed by his own experiment, Crawfod is locked up as a nut job. Barbara Crampton is Dr. McMichaels, trying to get to the bottom of his case. and of course Gordon puts his own wife Carolyn in here as another doctor. So they take Crawford back to the scene, and for some unknown reason, they think turning it back on is a good idea. Keep the kids away. Language, violence and nudity. S&M. a little something for everyone. and the weird thing is, they keep talking about the pineal gland, which really does control our sleep rhythms by controlling our melatonin level. and on some web pages, there are the discussions of flouride in our water supply. This “results” in the blocking of our ability to see the alternate planes. which is what this whole film is about! actually slightly based on “shakey science”. who knew? it’s all silly and campy and cheap and cheesy. but you’ll have a fun time watching. not for the weak of heart.
Thank you, KSF-2! I owe you a drink or perhaps some high grade oil, depending on what you are.
Trivia! Barbara Crampton sold the leather dominatrix outfit she wore in this film at a yard sale. Somebody got a great bargain! Courtesy IMDB.
Well folks, I am very, very behind schedule. Swiss is about to trigger the second addendum to my contact and send Zardoz to “cleanse” my house. So I must post! I hope you enjoy tonight’s classic film, this is quite the GlibFlick!

So watch! Or don’t! Everything is voluntary! Next week, we will have another selection by you folks, the Glibertariat.
Coming soon will be a full schedule of films for October, some of which you folks picked, and some of my own selections.

All hail Mojo!
I’ll repeat myself, “That’s a great Thursday night movie too. Crazy ass shit from another dimension, old school special effects, Barbara Crampton in a BDSM outfit. And Lovecraft. Anyone who doesn’t like that should be deported to Uganda.”
Yes! Thanks again to Mojeaux!
I am going to run out of fivers to mail her soon… might have to go to the bank.
I may be easy, but I ain’t cheap.
Special thanks for going out of your way. And what the hell? MoJo the Great deserves it.
*long distance foot massage*
Do we know any way to reliably avoid the “Missed Schedule” issue?
I know me asking is useless as I lack scheduling rights, but I have insatiable curiousity about many topics.
Not yet. Every post is being pushed.
Thank you.
Hopefully somebody figures it out 🤞
Mo sets her alarm for 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm…?
She has a day job now.
I do get breaks. I mean, I COULD.
It’s a group effort.
The answer is either human sacrifice or anal sex.
Embrace the power of “and”.
Everything in moderation.
Embrace the power of and?
dammit, Teds
Embrace the power of “and”.
Much like with Reavers, order matters here.
“order matters here”
Can be sure with Ted’s? Every been in above Winchester NY? Carzy electrical towers, sodium lamps. It’s like Lovecraft without the saltwater.

After reading the review, I have a feeling I might have seen this before. It sounds right up my alley.
I’m getting over a cold. I’m heading to bed early. I’ll queue this up for later. And I still have to watch “Space Truckers”.
Thanks Mojeaux for getting this posted. Thanks RJ and Common Tater!
I, too, will have to indulge later, for it is laundry and cleaning time.
…Cleansing?
That sounds way more intriguing than “the weekly vacuuming, mopping, and scrubbing the toilet with Comet routine,” so I’m going with it.
I guess ZARDOZ hasn’t blessed Pat with the gift of the gun.
“scrubbing the toilet with Comet routine”
Just use a tiny bleach but often.
I guess that’s a good way to dip your toe in the waters without a big financial commitment. Like buying used exercise equipment.
Hunter should sell his used condoms. Dirty money ya don’t wanna launder!
I just wonder if the buyer knew what movie it was in, or just went “Oh! A dominatrix outfit! I need one of those all the time!”
I’m sure a fan would pay much more for it.
Besides being a domme has little to do with outfit. That’s like frosting on a cupcake. Sure, if you are buying a cupcake, you want it frosted.
jeffry combs of The Frighteners and Reanimator fame??? SOLD!
Oh… Weyoun. Sweet.
This is the first not-Trek thing I have seen him in.
He’s awesome as always.
I wonder if James Gunns Slither (which is the bomb) was influenced by this movie. With regard to the space leaches.
IMDB on Slither:
Inspiration for the film according to, James Gunn the first image that hit his mind was of a young woman with an alien-like worm flapping and burrowing into her mouth. The story and title came later as he decided to bring back the feel of the films he loved from the ’80s. Specifically, he mentions wanting to honor The Fly, The Thing, Basket Case, Return of the Living Dead and more.
I’m sure I just have an active imagination.
There is also Slither starring James Caan, Peter Boyle, and Winston’s mom.
*presses Play*
there’s a dude cranking the hog just like in silence of the lambs. This movie just might be very influential.
Now I’m worried about my pineal stalk.
Gigantic specs… cigarettes… damn I miss the 80s.
Everything just looked so good!
And movies were still filmed with bright lights!
“What did Hollywood use to light its films before candles?”
/Old Soviet Joke
And watching them wasn’t exhausting.
Oh yeah. The ribcage pants with the sailor’s buttons.
*pushes up glasses* Um, Akshully, Stanly Kubrick filmed Barry Lyndon with all natural lighting, using candle and firelight for the indoor scenes, in 1975.
Well, since Kubrick made that mistake… all the more reason to avoid it.
Aha! *adds check mark* This is why I mentioned you before when I brought up smokes!
I’m really, really glad I live in a time where my pants have never rested on the *top* of my pelvis with my belly button. Weirdos. My natural V strongly agrees.
Sansabelt slacks. Look them up.
Found an example:
https://www.vintagepaperads.com/1963-Jaymar-Sansabelt-Slacks-Ad–Strong-Man_p_44451.html
I kind of like that higher waists are making a comeback, at least among females.
A lot of dudes are still showing way more crack than I would like, though.
I’m ridiculously high-waisted (thanks grandpa Horwath). If I wore my pants at my natural waist they’d be just below my rib cage, and a good inch or two above my belly button. That being the case, I tend to wear my pants substantially below my natural hip with the inseam adjusted accordingly, which works for the most part, except that the ass sags even with low-rise trousers.
*Photographer to model*: Give me your best Norman Bates
Hahahahaha! “Strong Man in Slacks”
I also admit (with pride), I’ve never worn a Sansabelt or anything similar. Maybe they feel like sartorial butterflies, I don’t know. (Good band name for… oooh. Eco green folk drum circle. They don’t know what words mean, but it sounds pastoral.)
Just say no to mom jeans.
Okay, what does “high/low waisted” mean? That’s the most rotund part of one’s body, either flesh or bone? Or long/short legged, so the “waist” looks higher or lower? *squirrelly face commences*
Why isn’t the top of your pelvis below your belly button?
High waisted jeans- the definite example.

that’s right, Ken Foree was in Dawn of the Dead.
Chalk outline missing the head LOL
I saw this a couple years ago, it’s pretty solid b level horror and creepiness.
cool monsters.
“Thune ready to have ‘conversation’ with Fetterman about joining GOP — as Dems rage against RNC ‘stunt’”
My feelers felt Fetterman pushing for ‘sane Dem’ in ’28 felt likely, and feel this furthers that feeling.
It’s a solid strategy. ‘Don’t be Republican. Don’t be pro- child mutilation or dicks in chicks’ locker rooms+. Be a Democrat.’ (That last one’s crucial.) The Don’t Be Trump platform will help with a lot of disaffected Republicans, as well.
He could wind up as the swing vote.
Fetterman as Ross Perot, 2028? *furious, quiggle-thinking*
Both have nine letters, three vowels?! Can’t be a coincidence!!! I’m thru my own looking glass, here…
Fetterman is like two Ross Perots, stacked on top of each other.
On economic issues he’s a big spending Dem. His Fabian slices may be a bit thinner but I doubt any of us will like his ultimate destination.
This differs from the current batch of Republicans how?
“Fetterman is like two Ross Perots, stacked on top of each other.”
ME MASTER, HE BLASTER! MASTERBLASTER!!
You have some Louis Farrakhan action going on there.
“The number NINE!”
Thune wants to hold onto his majorityship for the sake of holding it, not to do anything remotely conservative.
‘London plops statue of plus-sized black woman in Trafalgar Square as tribute to “everywoman”‘
Wowza kadowza. They simply don’t know how to q̵u̵i̵t̵ ̵y̵o̵u̵ hide their casual racism. It’s truly remarkable, their echoless bubbles.
I’d love to know why an “everywoman” black gal is fat and cartoonish, perhaps especially in London. Much racism, or veneration for the poor and struggling minorities longing for… uh..? More portion discipline? (Q strongly, strongly approves.)

Leftists are the most racist trash on the planet.
Accurate. Just thinking of how many bureaucratic hands and wallets that grant must’ve gone through to get made and installed. And no one said No. Maybe Mayor Khan thought he was bein’ all inclusive ‘n shit. (Played it off as? Possibly. Thought? No.)
I’ll one up you:

Yeah. There’s that. Wretched turtle.
Have we done The Beyond (1981)? I think maybe we did?
Mmmm…
No, I think. I am away from the PC and cannot verify.
This one is a treat but not better than Re-Animator. Good pick!
I’ll have to check that out.
This was great & I am a fan of Combs.
2019 or 1977? I don’t care, she still the pipes. (A beauty then and now.)

I downloaded “The Complete Trio Collection” (3 CDs worth) with Emmylou, Dolly, and Linda Ronstadt after seeing the Linda Ronstadt biopic. “Disc” 2 includes this cover, sung better than Neil Young could ever do (pretty much like every Neil Young cover. Also, I’m slightly disappointed that the entire collection doesn’t seem to include “Silver Threads and Golden Needles.”)
The wife wants to watch another Matt Helm tonight, so that’s what we’re doing.
Excellent!
*hic*
The last one was fun.
I almost recommended the Sammy Davis / Peter Lawford spy film, “Salt & Pepper” which is also on Tubi. It is not Matt Helm quality but it is a very interesting relic of the time.
That sounds like you should get it in while tubi has it.
wut
Even my relatives won’t help me. “You should have.” GD, do I know many assholes! Hence the chronic depression.
i wonder if I am dying. Very weak. My father thinks calling the cops is how to get me medical help. Huh??
Just World Syndrome.
At least they went away.
B, your precious dachshund is running around in the back yard in the dark, and avoiding you lately.
I’m very OOTL, but per the previous thread, I am sympathetic to your situation. I will no-joke PayPal or Venmo you up to $500 immediately. No questions asked. All I ask is that you use the money to facilitate your departure from your present situation (that means calling 9-1-1, Catholic Charities, a church, your local mission, a DV shelter, etc, etc). Post your PP or Venmo email. If the money disappears into the ether, at least you can’t say nobody ever offered to help.
What you need Tox. I mean, really; what do you need. Advice? Shoulder? Just to vent? To get away? All have been offered and it sucks that our footprint in South SoCal is tiny…but I read these and it sucks cause no one knows what to do because it is seemingly just a dumping of thoughts and pain.
Bob can fuck off — your mom, has made her choice. Choose for yourself at this point. Take the advice and help tossed at you to get your shit square.
I need help!
But I don’t want to leave.
And no cops, assholes!
Just send more money or I’ll know you don’t care.
Feel free to send the money to me.
I need help!
But I don’t want to leave.
And no cops, assholes!
Just send more money or I’ll know you don’t care.
I share your frustration with the constant passive aggressive attacks on us for not responding breathlessly every time she posts, but I also want to be fair about it. I offered money, she did not take it. Whatever is in TOG’s head, it does not appear to be getting money.
I got the damnedest phone call today! Indiana called me and wanted to interview me for the State Eligibility Consultant! I applied for that like July 1 or something! Caught off guard, I still tried to talk to her and keep my name on the list, just in case. If that had been two weeks earlier, uh, I’d be in a very different place, methinks.
And, my original thought, I’m having a talk with some FSSA folk tomorrow. “Benefits and Financial Planning Intake Meeting for Vocational Rehabilitation” Apparently it’s gonna be 90min long, and pretty much goes over my finances, methinks. I think this is about my MEDWorks thing, where I qualify for ‘earning more $$ than normal while staying on Medicaid.’
I’m not positive. But why the fuck is this 90min?! The lady assumed I was getting SSDI checks and housing, and I think more. I believe they also wanna see if new gig would qualify as being ‘on target with [my] vocational goal’ or some shit. *shrug* I hope it’s more about the medical shit than anything else. My Medicaid is like $68/mo.
$68
That enough for a McDonald’s meal for two!
A body of nine was on SSDI since he was a child, spinabiffida. He got off of it and said it was harder to get off than on.
My parents were both on SSI and Medicaid. They had periodic appointments like that. They typically took 15-20 minutes tops. “Are you able to work at this time?” “Nope” “OK, let us know if anything changes. Is your name ___?” “Yep” “Great, is your SSN __?” “Yep” “Cool, see you next year.”
Happy Friday and the anniversary of the thing!

Good morning, Sean and Ted’s.
25 years ago today, some people did something.
Good morning, Sean, ChipP, Ted’S., U, and homey!
Morning.
Made it to the office.
How are 🐱👤😼🎸👩🦰?
All OK, but the utility work that has had our street torn up for weeks has finally reached the point this morning where they’ve temporarily shut off our water. The little tag they left on our doorknob says it’ll be off from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. this morning. We have bottled water for drinking and flushing, but I don’t really have a way to clean up for work. I may be late. 😑
How are you today?
I have a nagging feeling I’m forgetting something important related to my vacation, but can’t seem to narrow down what it is.
Gloves?
some people will celebrate some thing
I was watching one of the 70s episodes of Concentration that run in the early hours of the morning, and two of the prizes that Johnny Olson plugged at the beginning of one of the games were a bedroom set and “household lube”.
I also learned that the Bissell carpet-sweeper makers diversified for a few years in the 1970s and bought a company that made plant food, among other things.
They bought PepsiCo?
Apparently a company called “Venturi, Inc.”, although it’s tough to find out much because of multiple companies called Venturi and the fact that there’s a venturi fertilizer injector. So search engines turn up a lot of stuff unrelated to what I was looking for.
The plant food had one of those faux old-time names, named after a fake Mrs. somebody or other. It was not called Brawndo.
When one of the plugs is for a supply of some (human) food item, it’s always interesting because of how direly bad the food from the 1970s looks. For nightmare fuel, look up “Appian Way pizza”.
Huh, looks like the pizza they sell down the road at the local quick shop that falls firmly into the not good at all but edible category.
Appian Way? Yuck, nobody kneads that…
Someone left one of those things at a place I lived a bunch of moves ago and I’ve been carrying it with me ever since. I don’t have any carpet now; we’ll see if it works on vinyl.
Appian Way? Yuck, nobody kneads that…
😑
Gotta commute soon, don’t I? Hate that the last day before vacation is in the office.
suh’ fam
yo whats goody
LOL Deutschlandfunk used the term “Ohne Belege” (“without evidence”) in a news bulletin item on Trump’s speech.
Trump claimed that the Democrats want to defund the police, and import millions of immigrants. Apparently the Democrats’ own words about defunding ICE don’t count.
“Without Evidence” == “Truth that makes us look bad”
Those claims are more policy implications than stated policy so Ohne Belege is technically correct and that’s the best kind of correct, especially when it comes to Germans.
Many of them have openly stated that position. As well as bragged that they want to replace whitey.
NPR commemorates the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a long story on . . . Islamophobia.
Shameless as always. Never change, ratfuckers.
I’d say I am becoming phobic of the left, but since they are in many cases now openly campaigning for the elimination of ‘whiteness’, Jews, Men, and several other categories that apply to me, it’s not a phobia.
