A day after President Donald Trump offered his latest appraisal of Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s muscular physique, it had already become a running joke — if not an explicitly stated one — during a GOP gathering in rural western Ohio.
“I know the president’s been talking about me as a football player and a few other things these days,” Husted said to knowing laughs at the Darke County GOP hog roast, where a crowd of about 300 dined on cuts of pig barbecued just outside.
Trump most recently praised the physical appearance of Husted, a former college football player, during a rally Saturday in northern Kentucky, which borders Ohio.
“I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders. I looked at his feet. I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline,” Trump said. “I then patted him on the shoulder, and it was like a piece of steel. I’m still recovering.”
Michigan Democrat Lauren Flynn busted under state’s ‘super drunk’ driving law
A Michigan Democratic lawmaker has been busted under the state’s “super drunk” driving law after she was found to be more than double the legal limit.
Lauren Flynn – who was first elected in 2022 – was arraigned Tuesday over an alleged drunk driving offense that dated back to the summer.
Mom of two Flynn, 46, was pulled over while driving in Grand Traverse County on July 24 and recorded a blood-alcohol concentration reading of at least 0.17% – more than double the state’s limit of 0.08%, WPBN reported.
She has been charged with a misdemeanor offense under what is known as the “super drunk” law and faces up to 180 days in county jail if convicted.
SUPER DRUNK
RUN! IT’S MUH MEDIA LITERACY SEASON AGAIN!

Does 0.24% earn you the “Super Duper’ drunk badge? Asing for a friend.
Not just a badge, but all a handsome framed certificate of drunkuthencity.
I seemed to recall the Army putting a breathalyzer in the Ft Monmouth NCO club back in the day. It quickly turned into a challenge.
.17 wasn’t even trying. But .28 is really, REALLLLLLLY drunk.
I’m glad there wasn’t one there in the late ’50s and early ’60s.
I might have pegged the meter on occasion.
I recall in my early experiences .15 was the cutoff. Fortunately I never had to contribute.
Down in Florida Man country (and I assume that Michigan is similar), .16 was about the threshold where your driving got bad enough for the cops to notice.
I’ve blown a few .4s.
Does anyone else take an odd sort of comfort in the belief that no matter how much OMB declines mentally, between the reflexive hate from some and the back-stabbing opportunistic ladder climbing of others, he won’t get any truly world-ending decisions enacted?
Yes, sort of. He hasn’t done a lot to push for legislation during his second term. It’s been mostly executive orders and just doing what he wants. I’m not sure how anyone will stop the latter.
Nationwide injunctions and endless litigation seem to be doing the trick.
I asked a while back if anyone can point to a single piece of legislation that came from Trump 2.0 worth anything. We got some omnibus spending bills crammed full of pork and that’s it.
I vaguely recall he pushed for some legislation earlier, and it became crystal clear that if the House didn’t kill something, the Senate would. Why bang your head against those brick walls when you can at least get some stuff done without them.
Is he making decisions? He seems to hate much of what “he” has done. Hates the Iranian war, hates the continuing Ukrainian war. Hates the shitty people in Congress he let into leadership positions.
Darkeys don’t like Muslims or Jews?
Come to think of it, that’s a good way to keep the derka-derkas and a chunk of the crazy wokescolds away.
Witnesses were badgered
New York City Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels found himself in the hot seat Tuesday night as investigative journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones and a crowd of students laced into him over his failure to clearly lay out a plan to tackle segregation in public schools.
The New York Times writer, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2020 for commentary, challenged Samuels to explain why he has yet to fully implement key recommendations made by the city’s School Diversity Advisory Group in 2019, including eliminating admissions screens that advocates say perpetuate segregation.
——-
Hannah-Jones made waves among educators and parents last month with an essay in The New York Times about her decision to send her daughter to a majority-Black, low-income school. While hailed by many as a clarion call for integration of schools in the city, Hannah-Jones herself wrote of how she now questioned herself for making that decision to send her daughter to the school. Tuesday night’s town hall brought much of the private discussion of the story to a head, bringing together the writer, Samuels, students, parent leaders and advocates to debate how the city can advance school integration.
Why haven’t you waved your magic wand and fixed the terrible scourge of segregation? What are you waiting for?
There’s a reason the admissions screens are there in the first place.
You want to keep the ‘tards and reprobates away from the kids who have a chance to make something of themselves.
Of course, saying that out loud in NYC would have you unemployed before the end of the day, so….
Public schools were desegregated 22 years before the biological material that may have eventually formed into a brain ran down Nikole Hannah-Jones’ mother’s leg, but considering her pioneering work in historical fiction, I suppose her ignorance is par for the course.
Look, she admitted she was a shit mother to the world, what more do you want?
The goal isn’t to lift black students up. It’s to bring white/Asian and successful students down.
A rising tide sinks all boats.
“investigative journalist”
LOL
More like “shameless propagandist”.
I’ve been hearing about the need to “fix” the scourge of “segregated schools” literally my entire life. What haven’t urban utopias cracked that nut yet?
Music is good.
I could watch Sean Yseult play bass all day long. She used to wear a bone in her hair. Thirty years ago it worked for me. For some reason.
Probably because she’s pretty and likes to rock.
Indeed. Groove metal was fun. I’m about due for my annual Halloween re-listen of Hellbilly Deluxe.
Not trying to spoil the fantasy, but she looks like she gets her hair done where Debby Wasserman Schultz gets hers done.
I thought this must be a SF embellishment.
The universal Dem freakout is hilarious and predictable.
I didn’t get the reference in today’s H&H, if anything SF played it down.
Samuels repeatedly defended his community-driven approach to integration, citing working groups that are developing proposals focused on integration and academic rigor. He said the administration is laying the groundwork by engaging communities, establishing structures for those conversations and building the capacity of superintendents who will lead the work.
Building the framework for consensus. Any day now…
My solution: a lottery. Random distribution of students throughout the system. You live in the East Village and your kid has been assigned to a school on Staten Island instead of the one two blocks away? Be proud of your noble sacrifice.
To maintain demographic balance we may have to split up your kids.
Into how many pieces?
Inspired by Gustave in the last thread:
I want this as an avatar.
The exchange grew particularly contentious over academic admissions screens. Hannah-Jones questioned why communities should be allowed to preserve admissions policies that create racially or academically homogeneous student populations at the expense of other children.
“Why should a community get to decide that they get to create a homogeneous learning community?” she asked.
Why should a retard such as yourself be permitted to impose an educational system which virtually guarantees wholesale failure?
Good gravy I despise these people.
It’s beyond parody. They have given up on even pretending that black students can compete if the standards are simply academic achievement and ability.
Yeah! Go ahead and tell me exactly why the people should get to decide things. Just try.
Thinking that people somewhere I don’t live should be able to do things I don’t like is crazy.
If I wasn’t so busy trying to save democracy from Trump, I’d be able to explain to you rubes why you are evil.
She is a racist grifter. Her only concern is advancing racism and graft.
There’s nothing gay about admiring another man’s Firstages.

This won’t save Warmington
Democrat Cinde Warmington came out swinging in her first debate with Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte on Tuesday, blaming the incumbent for everything from soaring rents to rising health care costs.
But Ayotte gave as good as she got, hitting “opioid lobbyist” Warmington on her energy proposals and her opposition to the proposed property tax cap.
The debate, moderated by Scott Spradling, was sponsored by the Greater Manchester Chamber and held at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.
Warmington’s pitch was simple: Everything costs too much, and it’s all Ayotte’s fault.
“Look at your bills. Your electric bill is up 15% on her watch. Child care is through the roof. Healthcare costs are through the roof,” Warmington said. “She’s responsible for this.”
Ayotte touted legislation she signed to address housing costs and lower business taxes, while taking aim at Warmington’s left-of-center policy positions.
For a little context: NH Democrats have been hitting cost of living issues (property taxes, utility costs, fuel costs, housing costs, etc.) hard. The Democrat state legislative candidates have been doing a much better job of it than Warmington. I think those Democrat state legislative candidates have also been going a better job of it than most NH Republicans.
Locally I’ve seen several big signs up that say “Hate High Prices? Vote Democrat!”
“Hate High Prices!”
Stop the printing presses
I expect every Dem who campaigns and wins on “affordability” to give a public apology when the prices of everything go up even faster after the election.

I think I’ll have more luck holding my breath waiting for the Sun to rise in the West.
Oh. I think my sarcasm detector is broken.
I’m assuming “opioid lobbyist” means “once argued that maybe we shouldn’t have the DEA sitting in every physician’s office ensuring they only prescribe enough medication to keep their patients in slightly-less-than-agonizing pain, lest they get used to feeling good and begin to enjoy it.”
It’s a good thing her constituency is too retarded to know what a post hoc fallacy is.

It’s more involved than that.
Anti-property tax cap mailer shelved
Less than 24 hours after NHJournal reported on a political mailer developed by the Croydon School Board to oppose the property tax cap on the November ballot, the board voted to shelf the controversial flyer.
“The Croydon School Board met (Tuesday) evening and voted against sending the flyer that had been drafted,” Board chair Aaron McKeon told NHJournal.
“It was our original intention to educate the public on what’s in the bill as well as take a position. Upon further feedback and discussion, we will instead post a minimalistic message on our website that provides a link to the law and encourages people to educate themselves on it prior to Election Day.
“The Board will not communicate a position.”
In response to NHJournal’s reporting, House Election Law Committee chair Rep. Ross Berry, R-Weare, filed a complaint with the attorney general’s office accusing the board of violating the state’s electioneering statue.
Informed of the board’s decision, Berry praised them for doing the right thing.
“I am truly glad they have decided to do the right thing. Several Croydon residents reached out to me concerned about the pending action, and I am pleased that the board listened to the community, followed the law, and corrected course.”
Lots of school boards around NH have been holding information session on the upcoming property tax cap ballot question. I have not attended any. From what I’ve seen of reports about the sessions, they are thinly veiled “Vote No On The Cap” sessions.
I hope they change their minds. It would be another nail in the coffin of the stupid labor commies.
While the question is on the ballot statewide, the cap only takes effect on a per municipality basis and only if there is a 60% supermajority to pass the cap in the municipality.
I don’t remember what the question says for school districts that span municipalities.
I expect there will be several municipalities that shoot down the cap. Sadly, the town I live in might be one. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a simple majority in my town voting for it, but I doubt a supermajority will vote for it.
Or perhaps better stated: “Having ginned up a controversy that attracted more media attention than our position statement would have, and thereby having communicated our position with more clarity and breadth than a simple flyer would have allowed, the board will save on the postage.”
Heh.
I can’t figure out why we are broke?!
So because of the illegals we needed to hire 16 extra teachers? Go ICE!
But remember, they really, really care about education. Not teacher’s union power and money, no siree.
But illegals are net tax payers so their departure is a loss …
LOL
I have to share the squib from the local news roundup on the proggie web site I hate read*:
Of course those accusations were unsubstantiated. The main stream media studiously avoided looking into them at all. The one NYT journalo who missed the memo didn’t even bother to come to MN. She just called one of the Somalis and asked him if his day care was fraudulent and he said no. Good enough for her to pronounce Shirley a complete liar.
I can hardly wait to see how they spin DNA evidence proving Omar married her brother.
I mean, they pretend as if there wasn’t a giant fraud investigation that has found billions of it already that is well documented with scores of convictions of nearly all Somalis.
The rabid contempt drips through the screen. JFC tone it down.
” She just called one of the Somalis and asked him if his day care was fraudulent and he said no”
Sounds like my deer hunting stories. I’ll even take you to the deer stand where it all went down. If that’s not proof…
Yeah, it’s been a total blackout on those stories 🙄️
I love going on Reddit and seeing people defending woke shit that flopped long after it was established as a flop. It’s like going into a parallel universe where everything that happened didn’t happen.
“Why should a community get to decide that they get to create a homogeneous learning community?” she asked.
It’s not about raising people up. It’s about dragging people down.
Now do viewpoint diversity in higher education.
And yeah. Those wreckers and hoarders built something worthwhile, and now they think they get to keep it?
Linguistic sanity check.
Machine translation as given me “Oneki no Ka” as a translation of “Bane of Pestilence”. I’m worried about – accuracy, whether it reads as a bane against pestilence or bane caused by pestilence, and whether it works as an object name in fiction.
Since I’m currently reliant on machines, I need to find a human who can tell me how full of shit the computer is.
Paging Sensei…
Here’s hoping.
I know enough to know not to trust the machine on the nuance of this sort of thing.
Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, and Indonesia deepening defense ties
Qatar, Turkiye, Pakistan and Indonesia signed a deal on Wednesday to deepen their defence industry cooperation, reflecting a broader effort by countries in the region to widen their network of security partners amid the prolonged US-Israel war with Iran.
The four countries signed the memorandum of understanding in Doha, building on existing military projects through joint production, technology transfers and more closely integrated supply chains.
The initiative comes as the failure of the United States and Iran to reach a concrete peace agreement pushes countries in the region to diversify their defence partnerships and look beyond what experts described as an overreliance on Washington for their security. But they stress that closer cooperation does not mean abandoning long-standing alliances. Instead, the ambition is to gain greater control over their own security while strengthening pre-existing partnerships.
Arda Mevlutoglu, a defence industry analyst and managing director of Mergen Analytical Strategies, told Al Jazeera that the implications could extend well beyond the four participants.
“We may be witnessing the emergence of an interconnected network of defence and security arrangements extending from the Gulf to South and Southeast Asia, rather than a single formal alliance,” he said.
Dogged pursuit
New Mexico’s attorney general on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit accusing Jeffrey Epstein’s long-time personal lawyer and accountant of facilitating Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.
The civil suit alleges the attorney, Darren Indyke, and the accountant, Richard Kahn, helped finance and conceal Epstein’s sex trafficking, which included the abuse of girls and young women at his Zorro Ranch in Santa Fe County, New Mexico.
——-
Attorney General Raul Torrez’s office said Epstein’s estate is currently valued at more than $107 million, and the suit says Indyke and Kahn are eligible for bequests of $50 million and $25 million, subject to the availability of funds.
“Jeffrey Epstein did not operate alone, and his death does not end the pursuit of accountability for the people who helped make his crimes possible,” Torrez said in a statement, which was released as he appeared at a press conference flanked by two survivors of abuse by Epstein, Anouska De Georgiou and Julia Molchanova.
To the ends of the earth.
The two “survivors” are quite a pair.
Since I’m currently reliant on machines, I need to find a human who can tell me how full of shit the computer is.
Can you at least run it through multiple independent translators?
for some reason they don’t recognize the english transliteration.
I learned 2 things today from the dead thread. The Ford 4.0 SOHC motor has a fantastically complex timing chain structure and that Ford put the 4.0 SOHC into a Ranger. I have only ever seen OHV 4.0s in the Ranger. The 4.0 OHV/SOHC are damn good engines and may be worth the expense to rebuild if the attachment to the vehicle is strong. You won’t find anything as good nowadays. I’ve seen multiple Explorer 4.0 crack 300k miles with minimal maintenance.
De Georgiou said at the press conference that her abuse by Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, “did not happen in isolation.”
“It could not have continued for as long as it did without people facilitating it, looking the other way, or choosing to do nothing to stop it,” De Georgiou said. “Accountability cannot end with Epstein and Maxwell. It must extend to those who knowingly made their abuse possible, especially those who stand to profit from it. That includes anyone who knowingly helped make Epstein appear legitimate to conceal his abuse of women and girls.”
They stole her soul. That’s why she looks like a ventriloquist’s dummy.

I have never been a fan of V6s (especially Buick) but I have to make an exception for the one in my ’91 Explorer, which was OHV.
Ignorant boors
“You know, at times like this you see who loves France and who does not,” he continued. “All the people –– it has to be said –– all the people who are running down our country right now are people who don’t love our country. So these people get on my nerves.”
America, however- there is a country all civilized people can agree to look down on.
“I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders. I looked at his feet. I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline,” Trump said. “I then patted him on the shoulder, and it was like a piece of steel. I’m still recovering.”
I love that part of this timeline. I’m still recovering, myself.
