Wednesday Morning Links

The Dodgers went up 2-1in their series while the Padres stayed alive in theirs, Four games today, with every game potentially ending the series. Coco Gauff lost a match and then appeared to blame social media. The USMNT beat Canada at the end of the lengthy international window to show who runs the roost at CONCACAF after demolishing Mexico the other day. And the NHL season is in full swing. Enjoy hockey, even if it feels a bit too early to me. That’s it for sports.

I assume we’re all supposed to be freaking out. Especially with the midterms right around the corner.

Well, maybe the agency just shouldn’t exist. The FBI exists, in the case of lawbreaking. Also, if it’s an executive agency, then they work for the executive branch and the person heading that branch should be able to hire or fire whoever he wants. Sorry, people complaining. You played yourselves.

Get a load of this fucking guy. He very clearly doesn’t know what “free” means. I hope he enjoys his riots.

This gets more retarded by the day. Which should have been expected.

Good. Fuck that guy. I hope they all aim low and shoot him in the dick.

I’m glad this didn’t happen in America. Because it would be to top story every minute of the day along with the “Cornell 7.”. And also because it’s good to see another country be completely absorbed with some retarded story that doesn’t impact their daily lives.

Well this is a shock. She’s never gonna finish nursing school acting this way. Or whatever strippers are saying now, I haven’t been keeping up.

I think they’re screwed. not because it’s ugly or anything (although I think it kind of is). But because they’ve already ruined their brand and if they were gonna come back, they needed to do something different than this…like drop a V12 into a sports car. I also just saw this. Which pisses me off 100x as much as the other article does.

One freaking charge? You know, between this and all the other scams being exposed, I think we’d balance our budget if the fraud all stopped.

Some people just hate good, clean fun. California, you suck.

Sure, but for how long? Hopefully for a while. I bet this isn’t the second track you were expecting. I apologize for nothing. Enjoy them both.

And enjoy this lovely Wednesday, dear friends.

Macron trashes American free speech as riots grip France
But remember, Europe ranks above America in free speech according to experts.

    • WTF

“War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.”
A hallmark of the left is to reverse the actual meaning of words in order to exert control. So now free speech isn’t free, but controlled speech is.

    • (((Jarflax

Damn that American Free Speech for riling up the fine, very French, youths.

    • rhywun

That guy is such a piece of work I can’t even.

      • Ted S.

I disagree that he’s a piece of work. This is France, where they don’t actually work.

      • (((Jarflax

He works, if he doesn’t his wife mommy beats him up.

    • PieInTheSky

as the official European I can vouch for that.

    • Brochettaward

Posted the other night, but just a reminder that the UK is arresting 30 people or so per day for speech related crimes.

  2. Ted S.

“Elise Mertens beats petty media darling” would be a better headline.

    • rhywun

      That’s racist, Ted’S.

      • Ted S.

Why do you hate White people?

“Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute of Siberia and the Far East”

Sounds like they are up to no good.

    • Ted S.

Based on people’s pre-conceived notions about Russia on the one hand and the people who manipulated covid on the other, this is going to be lit.

  4. Rat on a train

Could a man clad in body armor and presumably prosthetic buttocks successfully take on a 6-foot-tall “Terminator”-like robot in hand-to-hand combat?
Did he also wear a prosthetic forehead?

  5. Common Tater

So strap-on or trans? Or is that some legal term for oral sex?

    • Ownbestenemy

Ya its both anal and oral in legal definition. So his claim is most likely she forced her mouth on his dick.

      • PieInTheSky

there was a George Carlin bit

“you know what you rarely hear a man telling a woman? stop sucking my dick or I’ll call the cops!”

      • Nephilium

Or a finger up the ass.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Neph probably has the correct idea.

    • Common Tater

“The woman at the center of the case, an undergraduate student identified only as Jane Doe, originally made a complaint to campus police in November 2024, three weeks after the incident occurred, that she had been raped by 8-10 men at the Chi Phi fraternity house.”

      https://abcnews.com/US/cornell-police-received-tip-chi-phi-fraternity-seeking/story?id=137009526

8 to 10 men? Then you follow that link

“During the final threesome, Jane Doe said, “I remember being totally disgusted at the situation, and I felt very tired and intoxicated. I would say that my level of overall intoxication was about a 8 out of 10 level of intoxicated. I would say that it was the most intoxicated I’ve ever been in my life. I felt like I was unable to make any decision because of how intoxicated I was,” the statement said.”

      https://abcnews.com/US/cornell-student-encounter-fraternity-house-felt-coercion-2024/story?id=136876885

Maybe news outlets shouldn’t be owned by companies famous for fairy tales.

      • DrOtto

So her defense is essentially “I had done so many dick dingers, I was out of my right mind.”

    • juris imprudent

I think the new legal standard has to be whoever pukes first is the most intoxicated and therefore incapacitated. Then instead of he said, she said it will just be who puked first.

      • rhywun

        Makes sense to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • (((Jarflax

The good news is the Fiat engine can be removed from the Fiat just by brushing the pile of rust away.

    • Shpip

You just LS swap it. Works just fine and you get an appreciable increase in power.

      • DrOtto

One of the more interesting swaps I ever saw was a Chevy 4.3 V6 into a Gremlin. It was respectable at the 1/4 track.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Jesus H Tiddy Fuckin’ Christ! That is worse than putting a (spits) Chevy motor in a Jag!

Might as well pull all of your teeth and start watching NASCAR.

(years ago, a friend who was into the “tuner” scene was always talking about putting a bigger Toyota engine into a Lotus Elise. Until he was given a ride in a stock Elise by a factory rep from Lotus, who showed him what real driving was, and how a Lotus is all about holding speed going into a turn, rather than powering out. I think he soiled himself on that ride.)

Leaving for Day Three at work soon, and am pleased it’s going well! I wonder/hope we’ll have more Vault-Time (that’s what the kids are calling it, ya hear?) to get into rhythm. I don’t think a human is a match for an android, but how about gorillas?

    • UnCivilServant

Tater, I’ve got some news for you – An android can be built to be weaker than a human. The strength of the servos and structure are all up to the engineer building it.

      • (((Jarflax

Even if the engineer initially designs it to be stronger than the human, some asshole in accounting will decide to save 3 cents a unit by having the servos built in China, and some connected CEO in China will replace the steel gears with vinyl ones.

I’m waiting for the old EMP in the shorts trick while the ref isn’t looking.

  11. PieInTheSky

This gets more retarded by the day. Which should have been expected.

“But you can’t hold a whole fraternity responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals. For if you do, then shouldn’t we blame the whole fraternity system? And if the whole fraternity system is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our educational institutions in general? I put it to you, Greg – isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!”

    • rhywun

Why stop at “American society”? Ban humans.

      • PieInTheSky

The issue here is not whether they broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with female party guests – they did.

    • Nephilium

I’m perfectly fine blaming the college systems for fraternities. Do they exist without colleges? No? Then it’s the colleges that are to blame!

      • rhywun

Yeah, unlike the president of Cornell, I’m not lying awake at night or shedding any tears over these developments. The whole system is a cock-up.

Block is also accused of contracting the same firm to plant bogus child sexual abuse images on Hensel’s property in an attempt to frame him as a child abuser. She also denies this charge.

Hoo boy — this one’s a properly unhinged piece of work. Can’t wait to see the courtroom histrionics when accountability arrives.

The UK closed, I think, three of it’s four refineries, and the forth is due for maintenance closures. They don’t have very much in reserve, as they planned to import it from France and the US, just leaving 45 days worth, or something like that. The EU, on the other hand, has around two years worth stocked away, so they can weather the storm on this.

Carrying a pistol without a license.

        Never talk to the police.

The U.S. Park Police said in an emailed statement that the officer observed an empty holster in the rear of the vehicle and asked if there was a firearm inside and Noonan confirmed there was. Noonan was off duty, not in uniform and driving his personal vehicle at the time, the statement said.

        Later in the article:

According to the complaint, Noonan was charged with carrying a pistol without a license.

Noonan had his first court appearance on Sept. 29 in D.C. Superior Court. A phone call left at the main number of the Superior Court public defender’s office to reach his court-appointed attorney was not returned. An email to the attorney was not immediately answered.

      • Ownbestenemy

        Thanks DEG.

      • R C Dean

Several of the officers who responded spotted the pistol, the court paper said.

So they dogpiled a stop for an expired tag? JFC. We have way too many cops of all flavors in this country.

As near as I can tell, he had the gun in the car, not on his person. Crap reporting, so its hard to say.

As near as I can tell, he had the gun in the car, not on his person. Crap reporting, so its hard to say.

In NJ, that means it was in his control and possession, which counts as carrying. I would guess DC is pretty similar in their anti-gun idiocy.

Jeffrey Tucker on symphonies and ritual

The head of the Hartford Symphony came out on stage for the opening concert of the season to give everyone a quick talk. He suggested that people consider buying full season tickets. It’s not just about saving money on purchases. It’s about having a routine, knowing that there is a concert calling next week, building in a ritual that is binding in some way.

More than that, he said, we live in times that are being gravely threatened by dehumanization. We interact more with digital systems than with people. But at the symphony, he said, there are real people, musicians who have mastered their instruments through thousands of hours of practice, and they are playing physical things.

There are bows drawn on gut and steel strings, real cymbals clanging together, mallets hitting drums, lungs powering brass, and a harpist using hands and figures to make the sounds of heaven appear before us. A season ticket shows your loyalty to the humane arts, to the beautiful, to the truth, to the analog world of genuine human achievement.

I sat there listening with an overwhelming sense that he was exactly right. For I, for the first time in my life, have purchased season tickets to this very venue. When they arrived, I flipped through the book of events and felt a great deal of excitement. They now sit in a drawer ready to be pulled out for the next concert and the next, as if this paper is concealing and then plans to reveal some of the highest achievements in the history of man.

    • R C Dean

I gotta say, that’s a pretty good pitch for season tickets.

Neph, his plea transfers quite well into your choice of entertainment also.

        Yes.

It’s really a piece about ritual and the human connection you build attending the rituals. Tucker writes about the symphony and in the past, Mass; however, what he is writing about applies just as well to sports fans attending games or getting a group together to watch a game.

    • PieInTheSky

    CIA guy confuses me.

He embezzles $200 million, and is presumably being paid by foreign governments for the Intel he provides….

And he keeps $40+ million in gold bars at his house?

And he stays here in the US?????

    Dude.

I get it if he thought $2 million wasnt enough and kept the spigot going.

    Or even $10 million.

But at some point as you creep past $100 million, dont you have to think “wow, I could have a lavish, king-like lifestyle in some foreign country and not worry too much about getting caught?

How can you be smart enough to get away with that much and dumb enough to have $40 million in gold in the house???

    • Ownbestenemy

Maybe he assumed there was lower hanging fruit and with our past record of not really looking for fraud, he was in the clear?
